This is a comparison of the endings in the Madoka ending charts and the actual ending of the show.

Correct Endings

  • Both Miracles And Magic Exist (Type 1) was correct. The two parts of Both Miracles And Magic Exist were originally going to be separate endings, but got combined to shorten the list and because the main point (Madoka escaping from the magical girl = witch curse) is the same.
  • Jesus End was roughly correct. It says "kill," but erasing her existence in the physical world is close enough to count (and the original Jesus ascended into heaven, so Madoka's transcendence is a more similar fate than outright suicide would be). Kyubey has to rely on a less efficient method of farming. Although wraiths have appeared to replace witches, they are a milder threat and magical girls are not as much as a threat to the world as their predecessors.

Honorable Mentions

  • This Is Madness is an inane alternate interpretation similar to the line of questioning put forth by Kyubey himself, but other magical beings are real and Homura never gets caught.
  • Yuri End is only right about Madoka, but that one scene was obviously designed to reference these types of endings. There's also the possibility that Mami and Kyouko will end up together. This is hinted at in The Different Story before they split up.
    • In Rebellion, Sayaka tells Kyoko that "One of the reasons she came back was so she could say goodbye to Kyoko", which shows very heavy Yuri implications.
  • Monsters, Inc. (from this wiki's speculah page, not on the chart) is partially correct, since Madoka did find a less cruel method. However, the movie's monsters were persuaded to use a more efficient method for mutual benefit, while Madoka's new system is less efficient and she forced the incubators into it by making the old method unusable. Magical girls are still contracted in a slightly different form to fight deadly battles.

Disqualifications

  • Witch-free End is disqualified because the idea of Madoka betraying Homura in order to fully purge the world of witchcraft was the central theme of this ending.
  • Morning Rescue End (white version) is disqualified because there was sufficient foreshadowing and setup to allow Madoka's wish to be a logical continuation of the existing plot and mechanics.
