Does Oriko Know?

I think Oriko knows or suspects about the Puella Magi system, since she has the power to see the future. There are some hints in the pages but nothing concrete. --Mutopis 02:03, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

  • She says near the start of chapter 1 that she doesn't want to turn into a witch. So she knows. -randomanon 02:09, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
  • You mean this? [1] Is a bit ambiguous, she could mean the witches in Walpurgis Night, or maybe she could mean she would become one. I guess it could be the latter --Mutopis 02:15, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
No, it's really not ambigious. The other translation that was done was clearer perhaps, "Is that a witch, if that's my fate..etc." Anyways, the whole premise of Oriko is to kill magical girls to prevent them from turning into Walpurgis witch so she definitely knows. -randomanon 02:20, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

Was Oriko adopted?

This page - [2] - Oriko saying "I'm sure that my mother and father up in heaven would be proud as well" seems like Hisaomi is not her biological father to me. Also, that "...liar" panel seems to suggest that she had malicious motives even back then... --kFYatek 00:14, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

Chapter 3 reveals that her father is probably dead, so it's possible that "mother and father would be proud" line could be Oriko's thoughts from the present. --CrownClown 00:17, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
Chapter 3 shows a young Oriko talking to the Politican father saying "Mother and Father up in heaven" [3] so that mean's both biological parents died and she was adopted by the politician guy. The Liar part is probably said by present Oriko. That means he probably adopted her to further his political ambitions? Or maybe he broke the promise that he will make the city better? --Mutopis 20:59, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
My guess is that she's calling him "liar" because he died and left her alone, just like her biological parents. KM 21:45, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
That is possible as well, I hope we get more information in the next chapters. --Mutopis 21:49, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
Hm, yeah, that's also a possible explanation. By the way, a little off-topic for that page, but I'm too lazy to make another talk in random places: are Sayaka and Hitomi actually featured in the Oriko manga? Madoka mentions them here, but do they actually make an appearance? I'm just not sure if they should be mentioned in Oriko Magica's character chart... --kFYatek 00:33, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
They're not in volume 1, though they could be in the second volume. For now, we might as well remove them. --CrownClown
Thanks! You're amazingly perceptive, I really appreciate that! --kFYatek 00:54, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
No problem, glad I could help! :) --CrownClown 00:56, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
It's your call, I put them in there because they were mentioned. It answers some people's questions about "where is Sayaka?" since she was left out from all the summaries etc. She's there we just haven't seen her make an appearance. Same with Hitomi. -randomanon 01:31, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

Oriko's Wish

The wish is overall correct, but I want to add a correction. The reason I'm putting the correction here first is because I don't know if its different in different timelines. I am on the first actual page of Sadness Prayer (with only Oriko and Kyubey) and she says her wish. The thing is, although the two versions I now see are basically the same, I realize a difference in SP.

Wiki: "I Wish for a reason for me to live."

SP: "I want... to know my purpose in life!" (Can't get the image to work (I don't know how to convert pdf to png). Please trust me or look at it yourself.)

Should both wishes be added, or not? I'm kind of confused as to the different wording on the wiki compared to SP. PureChaos (talk) 22:56, 7 April 2023 (UTC)
