*Witches and their barriers are [[Dengeki PlayStation 2012-01-12|a reflection of what is in the heart of the girls]] when they become magical girls. It is speculated that Gisela's Witch form may have something to do with the [[wikipedia:Bōsōzoku|Bōsōzoku]] (Japanese motorcycle gangs).
**Many, if not most, of bōsōzoku came from a lower socioeconomic class and may have used the motorcycle gang activities as a way to express disaffection and dissatisfaction with Japanese mainstream society. Many of the most hard-core bōsōzoku would become lower-ranking members of the [[wikipedia:Yakuza|Yakuza]] after turning 20 years of age.
*In the anime version of the events, it is assumed that Gisela was defeated at the hands of Kyoko in her flashback for the timeline of the anime where Madoka makes her wish to destroy all witches. However, in the [[Madoka Magica Portable|Madoka PSP game]], Gisela can be defeated at two different times. One, by Kyoko in her route in the past, to protect her family. Or two, she can be defeated by Mami in her route, during a time period after Madoka has contracted, with or without Madoka's assistance. The same logic seems to apply with the game. Fans have generated speculation on two different appearances by Gisela in the game.
::While Kyoko has an impressive fight against Gisela, the flashback doesn't show the outcome of the battle, making it ambiguous enough to determine with certainty if Kyoko did kill her after all. In the game it is unambiguous as Kyoko kills her in her route.

*The pink ribbon is a sign of attraction, since Madoka's mother mentioned in ep 1 that wearing a pink ribbon would attract attention.
**It may though just be a transformed ribbon of Sayaka's school uniform.
*Similarities with the myth of Orion:
**"Orion was the son of the sea-god Poseidon" - the reason for Sayaka's (Octavia's) half-fish form.
**Another reason for Sayaka's (Octavia's) half-fish form is most likely that Sayaka herself experienced a bitter end of the story, The Little Mermaid. Sayaka saved Kyousuke however Kyousuke is quite oblivious of this and then Hitomi confesses her feelings towards Kyousuke. This leads Sayaka into despair and she lets her own Soul Gem get corrupted. *The runic font doesn't seem to exist in the "real world". Ergo, the strange posters that bear runic text in [[Episode 8]] may have been a "telltale sign" of the beginning of Sayaka's Labyrinth manifestation.
*The pink ribbon is a sign of attraction, since Madoka's mother mentioned in ep 1 that wearing a pink ribbon would attract attention.
**It may though just be a transformed ribbon of Sayaka's school uniform.
*Similarities with the myth of Orion:
**"Orion was the son of the sea-god Poseidon" - the reason for Sayaka's (Octavia's) half-fish form.
**Another reason for Sayaka's (Octavia's) half-fish form is most likely that Sayaka herself experienced a bitter end of the story, The Little Mermaid. Sayaka saved Kyousuke however Kyousuke is quite oblivious of this and then Hitomi confesses her feelings towards Kyousuke. This leads Sayaka into despair and she lets her own Soul Gem get corrupted. (Sayaka was told specifically by [[Mami]] that all Puella Magi had no time for relationships because they have given up their souls (meaning, they no longer can have human abilities to love a human being romantically).

*In one of other timelines, the different minions who resemble Hitomi are also killed by Witch's wheels. This might intimate that Hitomi hurt Sayaka much more in that timeline than in main timeline. (And that it is a manifestation of the witch's revenge)

*Quitterie is a feminine French name and it means "quiet".
*Quitterie is a rare French name, most likely derived from the Latin 'quietus', meaning "quiet, calm." Some also link the name to the Greek 'Κύθηρα', "Kythira", a Greek island which was consecrated to the ancient goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite.
*Upon her death, the Witch will fall over backwards. The Kyubey head will fall off, and there is a glimpse of the Witch's real head.

==Speculation==
*[[wikipedia:Quiteria|Saint Quiteria]] was a 5th century virgin martyr and saint. Nothing is certain about Quiteria except her name and her cult. Her name is a title that the Phoenicians gave to the goddess Astarte: Kythere, Kyteria, or Kuteria, which means "the red one.", which some take to mean that she might be a fictional saint. She may also have been named after the pagan goddess, or just as likely, after one of the names of Aphrodite, "Cytherea", after the island where the goddess was allegedly born.
**When Quiteria was beheaded, her falling head hit the ground and a water fountain sprung up from the spot. Coincidentally, a bishop [[:wikipedia:fr:Sainte_Quitterie#La_l.C3.A9gende_toulousaine|named Faust]] made a sermon that day with a reference to the miracle that converted the entire city area into Christianity.
*Given to the description, it is speculated that Quitterie was a tailor.
**One likely possibility is that Quitterie was a cosplay otaku and she used to create her own costumes.
***Fans speculate that Quitterie was the kind of girl who believed in the anime/manga versions of magical girls, and made her own costumes before meeting Kyubey. Once she contracted, she thought of Kyubey as a traditional magical girl mascot and that she was an ally of justice, just like on TV.
