Walpurgis Night (alternately referred to as "Walpurgisnacht" or "Walpurgis" both in the series and among fans) is supposedly the strongest witch current Magical Girls would have to fight. Her real name is unknown, while "Walpurgis Night" is a common moniker given to it by Puellae Magi. Her nature had been kept mysterious during most of the series, which led to a lot of speculation from fans during the original broadcast. This article's first purpose is, as with the other witches, to provide information about her.
Trivia
* Walpurgis Night is named for Walpurgisnacht, a traditional spring festival celebrated on 30 April or 1 May in large parts of Central and Northern Europe. For more information on the festival's history, cultural and literary impacts, and connection to witchcraft, see Speculah: Walpurgis Night.
* Kyoko Sakura confirmed that Walpurgis was the most powerful witch in Episode 9; in Episode 10, however, Madoka Kaname eclipsed her in power in two of the timelines created by Homura Akemi, becoming the god-like Kriemhild Gretchen. Episode 11 showed that Walpurgis can withstand repeated attacks from heavy artillery, and her mere appearance can cause hundreds of deaths.
* While Walpurgis does not need to hide in a barrier, like other witches, her arrival in Mitakihara Town is preceded by a carnival-like procession of familiars. This is apparently a reflection of her theatrical theme, and possibly also evidence of her desire to transform the world into a giant "stage."
* The witch's most prominent familiars take the form of former magical girls, as evidenced by their resemblance to the puellae magi shown in the final scene of Episode 12.
**The manga version even takes this one step further by explicitly featuring the deceased Sayaka, Kyouko and Mami, all of which are main characters, as Walpurgis's minions.
**They also bear similiarity to characters from the music video of Maaya Sakamoto's Universe. This is unsurprising as both the MV and witch sequences are designed by animators Gekidan Inu Curry.
* Walpurgis never drops a Grief Seed in any of the timelines. Whether this is because she doesn't have one or because the Grief Seed is always lost in the confusion of battle is unknown.
* The exterior view of Homura's residence resembles a scene from Shadow of Memories (Shadow of Destiny for North America). Interestingly, it went through several title changes before release, among them The Day and Night of Walpurgisnacht, Days of Walpurgis, and Time Adventure.
* In the manga adaptation of Madoka Magica, Walpurgis Night's familiars are different: The significance of this is unknown.
* According to witch animator and designer InuCurry, Walpurgis Night's and Kriemhild Gretchen's silhouettes are supposed to make a pair. The significance of this is unknown.

Speculation
*Homura may have been tracking down several other magical girls to figure out which one of them became Walpurgis Night. She may also have been trying to figure out what the witch might look like; however, the visuals she has depict several magical girl appearances.
*Walpurgis Night could be the witch of a magic girl who defeated the previous most powerful witch. As QB mentioned in Episode 10, the only choice left for a magic girl after defeating the most powerful witch "is to become a (even more powerful) witch herself".
*Given the nature of Walpurgis Night and the presence of gears and the "falling" figure of the witch, Walpurgis Night could be the witch form of Homura. Although Homura's magic is very limited, her experience in multiple timelines makes the witch a formidable foe.
**Walpurgis Night could be Homura's witch form from the future, where she despairs with the fact that her involvement with Madoka only made her suffer some more. This would make sense if Timeline 1 was the best possible ending and the witch's goal is to kill Madoka alone (Timeline 1) or to kill Homura and end her fate.
**Evidence supporting this theory are the gears and cogwheels, as well as the fact how her arrival is always extremely vague (ie. time travel, Homura Akemi's power as a Puella Magi).
***Also by her theme of helplessness and her being 'the fool who continuously spins in circles' (referencing the time loop Homura has created)

*It is possible that Walpurgis Night is a fusion of multiple witches into a single powerful entity. This is supported by Walpurgis Night in both real-world belief and Faust being a witch's gathering - in this case the witches are gathering into one entity. The magical girl silhouettes in Homura's room can be interpreted as Homura not tracking down one magical girl that becomes Walpurgis, but rather all of the magical girls that become Walpurgis. The Paul Klee painting "Walpurgisnacht," assuming it has relevance, does seem to depict several witches fused together.
**One of the pictures in Homura's room is of two lines of female silhouettes holding hands and dancing. In between the two lines is the word "Walpurgisnacht." Perhaps they're doing a fusion dance?
*** Walpurgis Night's familiars perform a similar dance both while the witch is attacking the town and while Madoka is cleansing the witches. They may be attacking Madoka, enhancing her power, or in some way trying to fuse with her (perhaps resulting in Kriemhild Gretchen's ultimate form).
**This theory is strangely sound, since the basis of Walpurgis Night is a gathering of witches. This could mean that Walpurgis Night could be a mash-up of many witches, thus creating a super-witch.
**Further support for this theory may be the gradual dissolution of Walpurgis Night as Madoka granted absolution to the various Magical Girls throughout time, in addition to the fact that the witch's familiars take the form of the various girls.
**Walpurgis Night's minions suspiciously resembles the silhouettes of speculated Puellae Magi like Gisela(?), Charlotte(?), Gertrud?, Izabel(?) and two unknowns.
**Let us say that "Walpurgisnacht" is the product of the amalgamation of several Witches. Considering that the festival goes back to ancient times, we can only assume that a New "Walpurgisnacht" emerges during the time of the Witches festival to replaced the old one if it gets defeated. It is unknown what happens to "Walpurgisnacht" after the witches festival ends. We can only assume that it either disassembles back to "normal" or perhaps it goes to slumber until the next festival. Considering there is little evidence, this speculation could be completely wrong.
** Perhaps Walpurgis Night appears to absorb new Puella Magi/witches into its power. That could be why she came to Mitakihara - to find Madoka.
** This theory has been confirmed by Word of God.
*Some fans speculate that Kazumi might be Walpurgis Night, because of her appearance. This is becoming increasingly unlikely.
*The exact time of Walpurgis Night's appearance may be midnight at the Brocken mountain in Germany, the site of real Walpurgisnacht festivities. This is approximately 8 AM in Japan. When Madoka defeats Walpurgis in Episode 12, a blue daytime sky is revealed. The sun is not shown, so is most likely close to the horizon, as it would be at 8 AM.
*The preview pages for Oriko Magica reveal that the title character, Oriko, is a magical girl able to the future; in this future, she sees Walpurgis Night, not upside down, wrecking Mitakihara Town. Then she sees the magical girl from the cover art, and believes that she might be the key to stopping Walpurgis Night, suggesting to Kyubey that he go recruit her. As such, speculah: either Oriko or the girl from the cover will become Walpurgis Night, as either one of them becoming that Witch would illustrate Oriko's helplessness at changing the future.
**
* The witch's card refers to the humanoid part of Walpurgis Night as a doll, and the gear as the "top part" of the witch. Therefore, the lower half is probably only a decoy body, similar to Charlotte's first form. This is further enforced by the fact that while the doll body is destroyed by Madoka's attack, the gear is unaffected and continues to approach her. It's also interesting to note that in Goethe's Faust, the titular character is led to the witch's festival by a homunculus (an artificially-made humanoid created through alchemy).

Yuma Chitose is a character from Puella Magi Oriko Magica. She is an orphan whose parents were killed by a witch. Kyoko is her current caretaker.

Personality
Yuma alternates between acts of maturity and childishness, showing delight in small things and childlike affection towards Kyoko, but also seriousness when events require it. She can be hot-headed and prone to spontaneous acts and much like Madoka, exhibits insecurity and a strong feeling of self-worthlessness. In Yuma's case, this could be explained by her backstory as an abused child and orphan. Yuma, like other magical girls, exhibits a desire to help others and contracts to help Kyoko. Like other girls, it isn't a completely selfless desire; Yuma has a fear of being abandoned and wishes to keep Kyoko alive and well as her caretaker.

History
Yuma Chitose, a girl of elementary school age, watches a witch attack that kills her family. Kyoko saves Yuma from the witch, and takes pity on her. Kyoko takes Yuma under her wing and tries to teach Yuma her values while they live as loners outside of society--doing such things as sneaking into public baths.

When Yuma is nearly hurt during a battle with a witch, Kyoko discovers cigarette burns on Yuma's head. She reveals that she was raised as an abused child. Her parents always argued, causing her father to never be home, while her mother physically and emotionally abused her by scarring her with cigarette burn marks on her forehead underneath her hair and telling her she is worthless. The two bond over a common troubled past with their families.

One night, while Kyoko is out hunting witches, Oriko appears to Yuma in Kyoko's hotel room. Oriko tells Yuma that Kyoko is going to die if something isn't done, and Yuma rushes off to find her friend. While showing affection for Kyoko, Yuma goes against her advice and contracts with Kyubey to become a magical girl. Yuma wanted to help Kyoko and become stronger, and she feared being left behind and suffering more abuse. She feared being useless, as Oriko told her she was in order to scare her into going. After making the contract, Yuma saved Kyoko's life with her new healing powers.

When Kyoko and Yuma meet up with Mami, who is investigating the recent string of Puella Magi murders and came to ask if they knew anything about it, Mami stares at Kyoko and comments, "How strange." Yuma mistakes this for bullying and flips Mami's skirt in retaliation, making Mami cry. Yuma promises to "take care" of anyone who bullies her caretaker. Kyoko corrects her, but thanks her for trying. Kyoko then asks Mami if she knows anyone named "Oriko," as Kyoko wants to get back at her for convincing Yuma to contract with Kyubey. Mami doesn't, and they go their separate ways.

She appears again with Kyoko inside the barrier formed by Kirika and Oriko around Mitakihara Middle School, and helps save Mami from the witch's familiars. Kyoko and Yuma were told about the situation by Kyubey. The three of them then continue to the center of the barrier, where Kirika, Oriko and Homura are battling.

Powers, Weapons & Abilities
Yuma's magic manifests as healing powers. Because her wish was to help/save Kyoko (the specific wording is not known), she is able to heal Kyoko's wounds from her battles with witches. Her offense capabilities come in the form of a staff with an over-sized ball that sports a cat's tail. This staff, when slammed into the ground, causes it to shake. The tremors make it difficult for an enemy to move.

Trivia
*Due to being featured on Oriko Magica's first volume cover, many fans erroneously assumed Yuma was the titular Oriko.
*Yuma is the Madoka Magica franchise's second cat-girl. The first is Satomi Usagi.
*She is the youngest of all the Puella Magi showcased in the franchise so far, though her exact age is unknown.
*Many fans have noted the similarities between Yuma and Touhou Project's Kisume, well as the common fan depiction of Touhou Project's Daiyousei. The artist of Oriko Magica has drawn Touhou fanart.

Speculation
*Early speculation was that Yuma would become Charlotte. This was not the case.
*Some fans speculate that Yuma did not survive the Witch's attack on her parents in the other timelines, explaining her absence in the anime.
** Others say she became one of the witches seen in the anime..
Nico Kanna is a character in Puella Magi Kazumi Magica: The Innocent Malice.

She is a Puella Magi, and a member of the Pleiades Saints.

Personality
Nico is a mostly quiet girl, being constantly seen with the same uninterested look on her face (which barely changes even when pierced with an arrow). However, she possesses high intelligence; arguably the highest in the bunch. She is a tech expert, and uses several pieces of high tech equipment, such as smartphones, to assist the girls with information.
She is also able to quickly analyze situations, and notice subtle details that the others do not.

She can be sarcastic at times, but with no malice.

History
After a witch traps Kaoru and Umika inside of itself and takes off, Saki, Nico, Satomi, and Mirai come to Kazumi's aid. They introduce themselves as the Pleiades Saints, a seven-girl witch-hunting team of which Kazumi and her abducted friends are also a part of. Together, they search for Kaoru and Umika across town, with the help of Nico's tracking app. While they search, the mysterious girl from previous chapters, Yuuri, disguises herself as Satomi and separates Kazumi from the rest of the team. She attacks Kazumi, but just as she is on the verge of defeat, the other Pleiades show up. Kazumi is then held by her opponent at gunpoint, causing them all to hesitate. Kazumi screams out for them to attack anyway, and they fire a joint attack at the mysterious girl: Fili Del Toano. It causes a large explosion, but the magical girl gets away. Kazumi is only lightly wounded.

They reunite at Umika's house for a strategy meeting. Having traced the witch to a bookmobile, and after filling up on Kazumi's delicious food, they head out to the last stop on the bookmobile schedule to intercept it. They go inside, save for Kazumi, who is told to stay outside and to fire her Limiti Esterni from the outside to finish it off. Nico hands her a GPS/communicator, so she can receive their signal, while tracking their location allowing her to fire accurately. The girls plunge into the witch's barrier, and rescue Kaoru and Umika just in time. Together, the six of them bind the witch with Episodio Incrocio. However, Nico dropped her GPS/com unit in an earlier attack by the witch, causing it to break (or, in her words, "killed in action"). This leaves them unable to give Kazumi the needed signal. Umika, thinking quickly, commands them to use candy flutes given to them by Kazumi. The sound reaches her, and the witch is destroyed by Limiti Esterni.

While they reunite and celebrate their victory, they are approached by Jubey, the "fairy" (妖精) that turned them into Puellae Magi. He cleans up their Soul Gems, and gladly accepts the last witch's Grief Seed. He then refuses a couple of weird looking seeds, obtained from the pseudo-witches of Chapters 1 and 2, saying they were not real Grief Seeds. Umika theorized they imitated the Grief Seed's power and were created by the mysterious girl from before. Before they could draw further conclusions, they are attacked by that very girl, Yuuri. She pins the girls downs with quick, devastating attacks. Nico attempts to retaliate, but is pierced by an arrow, incapacitating her. Yuuri kidnaps Kazumi, and, with a message left in the arrow that struck Nico, orders them to go to the Asunaro Dome at midnight if they want Kazumi back. While waiting for the deadline at Umika's house, they speculate on Yuuri's motivations. Nico alerts them to the fact that the mysterious girl's Soul Gem was at her limit, and makes an omnious prediction as to what might happen if she keeps using magic.
At the right time, they arrive at the dome, but a force barrier prevents them from doing anything but watch as Yuuri enacts her plans. Yuuri states her objective is to seek revenge on the Pleiades. She interprets the Pleiades' failure to recognize her as having been "just that insignificant" to the girls. She then removes her hat, causing a shocked Umika to recognize her, and proceeds to shove an Evil Nut, one of the awkward Grief Seeds from before, into Kazumi's forehead, while the Pleiades scream in horror.

However, Kazumi is able to free herself, and engages Yuuri. However, over the course of the battle, Yuuri's Soul Gem cracks. Nico pronounces that Yuuri's Soul Gem has hatched as she becomes a witch. Along with the other Pleaides, Nico is trapped on a cross in the witch's barrier, and is enveloped in thorny vines.

Powers, Weapons & Abilities
Nico's individual abilities in battle are not yet known. She was seen summoning CD-like disks, which are likely throwable weapons with cutting properties, but did not have the chance to use them.

Her tech expertise also comes in handy for the Pleiades both inside and outside the battle. She developed a smartphone app that can read a witch's residual power wavelength, and use it to calibrate the girl's Soul Gems, to track that particular witch more accurately. She also uses (and apparently, carries extra) GPS/com units, used to coordinate the girl's actions when away from each other.

Trivia
* When transformed, she dons a classical paratrooper suit, complete with aviator goggles and leather helmet, several utility pockets, a harness and a parachute backpack.

Speculation
* Given Nico's use of high tech and the ability to summon CD-like disks, it is speculated she made a wish concerning technology, for example to become a great programmer.

Though Kazumi, Kaoru and Umika were present since the start, the Pleiades were only introduced in chapter 3. After a witch traps Kaoru and Umika inside of itself and takes off, four mysterious girl come to Kazumi's help. They introduce themselves as the Pleiades Saints, a seven-girl witch-hunting team of which Kazumi and her abducted friends are also a part of. Together, they search for Kaoru and Umika across town. While they search, the mysterious girl from previous chapters, Yuuri, attacks Kazumi, having disguised herself as Satomi to separate her from the rest of the team. Overwhelmed, Kazumi is on the verge of defeat, but her four companions intervene. Kazumi is then held at gunpoint, causing them to hesitate, but she screams out to them to attack anyway. They do so, and fire a joint attack at the mysterious girl: Fili Del Toano. It causes a large explosion, but the magical girl gets away. Kazumi is only lightly wounded.

They reunite at Umika's house for a strategy meeting. While analyzing the situation, Saki, their presumed leader, makes a breakthrough. She discovers the symbol the witch left across town was also on the back of a book, leading her to conclude the witch has possessed a bookmobile. After filling up on Kazumi's delicious food, they head out to the last stop on the bookmobile schedule to intercept it. They successfully do so, and, leaving Kazumi on the outside to strike at command, rescue Kaoru and Umika just in time. Together, the six of them bind the witch with Episodio Incrocio. However, Nico's GPS/com unit breaks, leaving them unable to give Kazumi the needed signal.

He cleans up their Soul Gems, and gladly accepts the last witch's Grief Seed, but refuses a couple of weird looking seeds, obtained from the pseudo-witches of Chapters 1 and 2, saying they were not real. Umika theorized they imitated the Grief Seed's power and were created by the mysterious girl from before, but before they could draw further conclusions, they are attacked by that very girl, Yuuri. She kidnaps Kazumi, and orders them to go to the Asunaro Dome at midnight if they want Kazumi back. While waiting for the deadline, they speculate on Yuuri's motivations. At the right time, they head to the dome, but due to a force barrier they can do nothing but watch as Yuuri enacts her plane. Yuuri states her objective is to seek revenge on them.

However, the Evil Nut seems to empower Kazumi instead, and she fights Yuuri again. Despite her efforts, Yuuri still comes out ahead in the battle. She shockingly claims that the Pleaides Saints are a gang that kills magical girls, and had killed her in the past. The Pleaides adopt guilt-filled expressions. She says that she went after Kazumi because she was their most precious possession. At this point, overuse of her magic causes her Soul Gem to crack. Saki tells Jubey to purify Yuuri's Soul Gem, but she shoots him before he can do so. Nico realizes it's too late, and announces that Yuuri's Soul Gem has hatched as Yuuri became a witch. In her barrier, Yuuri's witch form traps the Pleaides Saints on crosses and wraps vines around them, inflicting them great pain.

The story then flashes back to the past. During the flashback, the Pleaides rescue a girl named Airi from a witch. Kazumi is not among them, suggesting that she wasn't a member at the time. After they leave, Kyubey appears to Airi and reveals that the witch was actually her friend Yuuri Asuka, and she became a witch right in front of the Pleaides Saints. Mentally shattered by the revelations, Airi wishes to become Yuuri, and declares revenge on the Pleaides, setting up the above events.

Teamwork
Given that none of the Saints appear to be overwhelmingly powerful, their strength comes from a number of joint tactics and attacks they have developed to make their numeric advantage as effective as possible.

Their main strategy appear to be to take advantage of Kazumi's powerful magic beams. The six remaining girls engage the enemy, wearing it down and immobilizing it by casting a joint sealing spell, Episodio Incrocio (English: Crossover Episode). This makes it a sitting duck for Kazumi to finish off.

That is not their only joint attack. For situations that require a quick strike, Fili Del Toano is an option. It is a powerful attack that creates a large explosion on the target, aimed by laser beams fired from the girl's staffs.

Outside of battle, they coordinate their search patterns to improve their chances of finding a witch. Along with Nico's app, this allows them to cover a wide area in just a few hours.

Trivia
* "Pleiades Saints" is a pun: "Pleiades Saints" and the Pleiades Star Cluster are pronounced the same way in Japanese and, when written, differ by only one character. Being named after a star cluster also produces another Astronomy reference.
* They seem to have all contracted with Jubey, who cleans their Soul Gems.

Speculation
Current Speculation
* In the anime, magical girls worked alone or in small groups because the Grief Seeds they needed to clean their Soul Gems were a limited resource. Magical girls could easily clash over territory and were just as likely to compete than cooperate. When the Pleiades Saints were revealed to be a seven-member magical girl team, a number of readers wondered how that could be possible in this context. It was considered unlikely that there were enough witches in Asunaro City to support seven magical girls. Chapter 4 explained that Jubey, the fairy they contracted with, can clean their Soul Gems, meaning they don't need to compete for Grief Seeds.
** What was left unexplained was why this was done. Kyubey has never demonstrated the ability to clean Soul Gems in the anime. In fact, he actively sought to have the girls corrupt their Soul Gems and turn into witches. One probable explanation is that from what we've seen, the Pleiades had fairly minor wishes and were therefore weaker magical girls. Being weak magical girls, they wouldn't become powerful witches, and thus they wouldn't produce a lot of energy when they transformed. It is then more efficient for Jubey to let them hunt Grief Seeds for him than to try and convert them into witches.
In purely mathematical terms, a team of weak Puellae Magi capturing a more powerful witch than themselves, using team tactics to level the field, is extremely efficient when it comes to energy output.
* While it is speculated that the Pleiades are hiding something from Kazumi, likely the true nature of witches, it is possible that Saki is hiding other facts. She has, in several occasions, said mysterious sentences about her past, and cut conversations short. In particular, a statement by Yuuri pertaining to Kazumi's relation with Saki caused an irate "shut up!" from her.

Past Speculation
* Yuuri, the mysterious girl who attacks them multiple times, holds a grudge against them from their shared past, though the girls appear to have no recollection of it until Umika recognizes her face. This past is apparently a very troubled one, and Yuuri believed she was being thought of as "insignificant". Note that Yuuri indicated that her name and the mysterious ghastly letter she sent was somehow related to her identity.
** The arrow that Yuuri used could also be a clue.
*** Chapter 5 explains the mystery behind Yuuri.
* Despite being named after the Seven Sisters of Greek mythology, Sterope, Merope, Electra, Maia, Taygeta, Celaeno, and Alcyone are only part of the nine brightest stars in the cluster. The other two stars are named after their parents, Atlas and Pleione. Given that the current roster of the Saints is composed of seven members, it is speculated that two of them are missing. Since Nico states they are named after the seven sisters, it leaves those two members as the "parents", or the most important (or senior) members of the team.
It is likely those two are Yuuri, who has a past connection to the group, and the mysterious girl in Yuuri's flashbacks, who seemed to be a friend of hers.
**In Greek Mythology the Pleiades were companions to the goddess Artemis and they trained under her.
** This speculation was debunked in Chapter 5.
* It is heavily implied that all of the Saints except Kazumi know that magical girls become witches. They seem to have accepted this fact, though it still bothers them - note Umika and Kaoru's expressions in Chapter 2 when Umika mentions that anyone can become a witch. Also note Nico and Saki's expressions when they take the witch's Grief Seed in Chapter 3, and the way Saki, Kaoru and Satomi react when Nico says Yuuri is at her limit in Chapter 4. It is very likely that they are hiding this from Kazumi.
** Going by the above theory that the Pleiades Saints used to have more members, it's possible that one of their previous members became a witch, which is how they learned that magical girls become witches. This may have also been the event that created Yuuri's desire for revenge on the Pleiades.
** Chapter 5 confirms the Pleaides knew the origins of witches and were hiding it from Kazumi. There is no evidence that one of their previous members became a witch, however.

A member of the Pleiades Saints, she loves animals, and wants to become a veterinarian when she grows up. Her wish was to gain the ability to talk to animals, which she uses to gather information.

Personality
She is kind-hearted girl who loves animals. She is also seen hugging Juubey which annoys him. [[File:K11.jpg|thumb|440px|She actually wanted to become just like in the movie. ]]

History
After a witch traps Kaoru and Umika inside of itself and takes off, Satomi, Saki, Nico, and Mirai come to Kazumi's help. They introduce themselves as the Pleiades Saints, a seven-girl witch-hunting team of which Kazumi and her abducted friends are also a part of. Together, they search for Kaoru and Umika across town, with Satomi using her powers to get information from a cat. While they search, the mysterious girl from previous chapters, Yuuri, disguises herself as Satomi and separates Kazumi from the rest of the team. Upon meeting with the real Satomi, Saki realized they had been tricked, and leads the girls to where the fake Satomi brought Kazumi. They proceed to rescue Kazumi just as she is on the verge of defeat.

They reunite at Umika's house for a strategy meeting, where they figure out the witch's likely location. After filling up on Kazumi's delicious food, they head out to intercept the witch. Upon arrival, Saki orders Kazumi to stay outside, explaining that their plan is to seal the witch and have Kazumi fire Limiti Esterni from the outside to finish it off. Satomi seems to protest herself, but Saki says "It dosen't matter. That was something the familiars did." The girls plunge into the witch's barrier, and rescue Kaoru and Umika just in time. Together, the six of them bind the witch with Episodio Incrocio. However, Nico's GPS/com unit breaks, leaving them unable to give Kazumi the needed signal.

She kidnaps Kazumi, and orders them to go to the Asunaro Dome at midnight if they want Kazumi back. While waiting for the deadline at Umika's house, they speculate on Yuuri's motivations.

At the right time, they arrive at the dome, but to a force barrier they can do nothing but watch as Yuuri enacts her plans.

During the battle, Yuuri's Soul Gem begins to crack, prompting Saki to order Juubey to cleanse it. Yuuri shoots him first and becomes a witch. Along with the other Pleaides, Satomi is trapped on a cross in the witch's barrier, and is enveloped in thorny vines.

Powers, Weapons & Abilities
Due to her wish, she has the ability to talk to animals. It appears that she can also fire magic from her wand.

Trivia
* Satomi's surname is meaningful, given her love for animals. Usagi means rabbit.
* Twin cat-like fangs can be seen when Satomi fully opens her mouth. Together with her cat-like appearance when transformed, and her "Meow" shouts in battle, she was seen as the (mandatory) cat girl in the Madoka universe until Yuma Chitose came along.

;Chapter 1: "Bad - Guy - Reckon Off" - Released January 24th, 2011.
:A girl awakens inside a suitcase, having forgotten everything except her name, Kazumi. When she opens the suitcase, she finds herself in the home of a man named Souichirou Tachibana. Souichirou explains that he had bought a bomb in an identical suitcase, intending to blow up a shopping mall as an act of revenge against the mall's owner, who tricked him into selling his store. However, he switched his suitcase with another one when he bumped into a mysterious girl. Souichirou gets a phone call offering to trade Kazumi for the bomb at the mall. Kazumi goes along with it to find the identity of her kidnapper. While being taken to the mall in her suitcase, Kazumi asks Souchirou not to set off the bomb, saying that he's a good person. When he finds the other suitcase, Souichirou is stopped by two high school girls (though the next chapter calls them middle-school girls), named Umika and Kaoru. They open the suitcase containing the bomb, starting the timer. At this point, a squad of police officers led by a female detective appear, telling Souchirou he's under arrest. Kazumi breaks out from her suitcase and announces that Souichirou is not a bad person. Souichirou is unable to stop the bomb, which is close to exploding. Kazumi closes her eyes and thinks "Stop the bomb. Bibbity Bobbity Boo", causing her earring bells to glow. At this point, Umika passes the bomb to Kaoru, who kicks it into the air. It then harmlessly explodes into smoke, shocking nearly everyone. The mysterious girl from before, who was watching, mutters that the bomb was supposed to be real.

:At this point, Umika and Kaoru reveal they know Kazumi and take her to Umika's house, where they all live together while their parents are working overseas. Apparently, Kazumi had been missing since the day before. Kazumi is taken to her room and falls asleep. When she wakes up, she finds a note from Umika and Kaoru saying they're out dating and that the detective from before will visit. Kazumi cooks a large meal for herself that she shares with the detective when she arrives. Kazumi then announces that the detective had set up the entire incident with the bomb to make herself look good, and she arrived at Kazumi's house to kill her. The detective agrees, saying that she followed a lead given to her by someone else, and that someone also gave her the power to kill people without leaving decisive evidence. She then transforms into a monster. Kazumi begins getting strange flashbacks as the monster attacks her. When the monster grabs her earring-bell, she suddenly yells at her not to touch it, breaks the monsters wrist, and then transforms into a magical girl. Kazumi defeats the monster with her new powers, which turns her back into a human. The chapter ends with Umika and Kaoru running in to save Kazumi, and Kazumi telling them she can use magic.

;Chapter 2: "AHA! Dogs" - Released February 24th, 2011.
:Picking up where the last chapter ended, Kazumi falls unconscious, exhausted and hungry. Looking at the detective's unconscious body, Umika and Kaoru find an object that resembles a Grief Seed. The mysterious girl from before watches, clearly annoyed. Kazumi wakes up, finds a black cat (which might be a reference to the black cat from the anime's opening animation) and comes downstairs to find Umika cooking. Kaoru explains that Umika has writer's block, which causes her to grow horns on her head and act oddly. After eating, Umika takes the girls shopping. While at the mall, Kazumi gets an odd feeling and runs away to find another monster attacking people. Kazumi transforms, causing the monster to recognize her as a magical girl. Kazumi has trouble fighting the monster, which prompts Umika and Kaoru to transform into magical girls themselves. Kazumi remembers that Kaoru would immobilize the monster, while Umika would use her book to read it's mind. However, Kazumi preforms the next step - attacking - too early, which nearly causes the attack to hit Umika. The monster gets away as Kazumi runs to her friends. Kazumi apologizes to them, but they don't seem to mind. When she insists on being punished, they take her to a hair salon where they cut her hair.

:At the salon, Umika explains that there are fairies who scout out magical girls and make contracts that grant them wishes (a silhouette of Madoka and Kyubey are seen during this scene). Kaoru says she wished for a healthy body that could always play soccer, while Umika wished for an editor that could appreciate her novels. When Kazumi asks why they didn't wish for success or fame, they reply that they want to achieve those things with their own abilities. Kazumi then asks what her own wish was, but she had never told her friends. The monsters in the current and previous chapter are confirmed to be a new type of witch that Kaoru and Umika haven't encountered before. At this point, Kazumi's haircut is finished, and is rather messily done. Kazumi says she likes it, saying that it's fine for the "new Kazumi", having distanced herself from the "old Kazumi". When Umika wants to fix the lock of Kazumi's hair that sticks out, Kazumi claims that it's a witch sensor. It seems to have some use, helping Umika learn that the witch is a cosmetic saleswoman, who is attacking girls who have bad skin. When they find and confront the witch, the mysterious girl from before appears and is identified as a magical girl. She quickly leaves, leaving Kazumi, Umika and Kaoru to fight the witch on their own. They defeat her, returning her to normal and making her drop another unusual Grief Seed. Afterward, Kazumi muses that those who become witches aren't always bad people. Umika replies that anyone can become a witch.

;Chapter 3: "Kazumix" - Released March 24th, 2011.
:The name of the city is revealed to be Asunaro, as Kazumi, Umika, and Kaoru are engaged in battle against an anime-style witch, complete with a barrier and familiars. During the battle, Kazumi hesitates, remembering when she accidentally hit her friends. Because of this, the witch devours Umika and Kaoru and escapes, leaving Kazumi by herself with a mark on her hand. At this point, four other magical girls arrive: Satomi, Mirai, Saki and Nico. It is revealed that the four of them, plus Kazumi, Umika, and Kaoru, make up a seven-member team of magical girls named the Pleiades Saints. They took their name after the Pleiades Star Cluster (this is a pun in Japanese; "Pleiades Saints" and "Pleiades Star Cluster" are pronounced the same way in Japanese and when written, differ by only one character). Kazumi gets a call from Umika and Kaoru, who are being protected by a barrier created by Umika. However, she can only maintain it for five hours. Umika tells Kazumi to team-up with the other Saints to find the witch. When Kazumi feels bad about what happened to Umika and Kaoru, Mirai hits her on the head, saying that they're the only ones who can help them. (This is a running gag that re-occurs through the chapter). The five of them use their Soul Gems to find the witch, while Kazumi remarks that her witch detector hair doesn't seem to be working.

:Satomi speaks to a cat, revealing that her wish was to be able to talk to animals so she could become a veterinarian. The cat reveals that the mark on Kazumi's hand has been planted around the city (it seems distinct from the witch's symbol, however). Nico reveals that they designed a smartphone application that picks up the wavelengths from witches and transfers them into Soul Gems, making the witches easier to track down. The girls split up, but they are tricked by the mysterious girl from before who disguises herself as Satomi. She then leads Kazumi away from the others. When she reveals herself, Kazumi recognizes her as the one who put her in the suitcase. The girl announces she will kill Kazumi and summons a giant bull. She then creates a number of pistols and sub-machine guns, Mami-style, and fires them, pinning Kazumi to a wall. Realizing they've been tricked, the other four magical girls arrive in time to help Kazumi. The mysterious magical girl escapes. Back at Umika's house, Saki finds that the mark left behind by the witch is the mark of a bookmobile, and that the appearance of the marks matches the bookmobile's schedule. They rush off to find the witch (after Kazumi cooks a large meal for them). Kazumi brings a bag of candy with her for Umika and Kaoru. Kazumi is told to wait outside the barrier, while the other magical girls incapacitate the witch. Once giving the signal from an electronic communicator, Kazumi will then fire into the barrier, destroying the witch. The plan hits a snag when Nico's communicator is broken, prompting Umika to use flute candy from Kazumi's bag to contact her. Kazumi successfully destroys the witch and reunites with Umika and Kaoru. Saki finds that the witch used an abandoned car to make it's barrier, while Nico collects the witch's Grief Seed As they celebrate their victory, they are watched by something that resembles a black cat mixed with Kyubey.

;Chapter 4: "Evil Nuts" - Released April 23rd, 2011.
:As Kazumi and the others celebrate their victory from the previous chapter, the Kyubey look-alike continues to watch, right next to Kyubey himself. Kyubey asks "Do you think things will go well this time, Pleiades?" while the look-alike grins. The look-alike then jumps down to meet Kazumi and he is introduced as Jubey, the fairy who made the Pleiades Saints magical girls. Jubey purifies the Pleaides Soul Gems, apparently consuming the darkness they expelled. He then devours the Grief Seed from the witch fought in the previous chapter. However, when the Pleiades give him the Grief Seeds from the witches in the first two chapters, he rejects them, revealing that they aren't Grief Seeds at all. The witches fought in the first two chapters were in fact pseudo-witches, created by imitation Grief Seeds known as an "Evil Nuts". The Pleiades quickly deduce that the mysterious magical girl created the Evil Nuts. The mysterious girl then promptly appears and incapacitates the magical girls. She introduces herself as Yuuri and appears to bear a grudge against the Pleiades. She takes off with Kazumi, leaving behind a letter telling the others that if they want Kazumi back, they have to come to Asunaro Dome at midnight.

:While being held hostage by Yuuri, Kazumi asks why she's attacking everyone. Yuuri refuses to answer, but during the conflict she flashes back to an unknown girl, which provokes an emotional reaction in her. Back at the Misaki residence, the Pleiades try to understand Yuuri's motivations. Nico then claims that Yuuri is "at her limit", and that something will happen if she uses too much magic - it is not stated but heavily implied that she means Yuuri is in danger of becoming a witch. At the dome, Yuuri welcomes the Pleaides Saints, showing that Kazumi is trapped in a chair. When they try to rescue her, they're blocked by a force-field. Yuuri then announces that she will plant one of her Evil Nuts into Kazumi. When Kazumi begs her to stop, Yuuri laughs and tells Kazumi that she knows nothing about the Pleaides Saints. She then takes off her hat, which causes Umika to recognize her. Yuuri announces she wants vengeance and the chapter ends with her shoving the Evil Nut into Kazumi's forehead.

;Chapter 5: "Magicallabbiata" - Released May 24th, 2011.
:The chapter picks up where the previous one left off. The Evil Nut enters into Kazumi's forehead, causing her to let out a burst of power that lets her break out of the chair while reforming her hat and growing a long cloak in the process. Kazumi fights with Yuuri again, but is still overpowered. Yuuri claims that the other Pleiades had killed her, and says that they're a group that kills magical girls. She then reveals that the Pleiades took away the most important thing to her, so she's going to take away the most important thing to them - Kazumi. At this point, Yuuri's blackened Soul Gem begins to crack. Saki tells Juubey to clean Yuuri's gem. Juubey begins spinning but is shot by Yuuri, stopping him. Nico quietly says Yuuri's Soul Gem has hatched as it turns into a Grief Seed, falling into Kazumi's hand. Kyubey watches from afar as Yuuri transforms into a heart-shaped witch. The Pleiades Saints are trapped on crosses in her barrier. In shock, Kazumi wonders why witches come out of Soul Gems. Vines begin surrounding the Pleiades causing them to scream out in pain. As they're being tortured, we suddenly see the girl from Yuuri's flashback in the previous chapter.

:The story then flashes back to the past. The girl from Yuuri's flashback is seen lying in a hospital bed, with Yuuri watching. We learn her name is Airi, and she only has three months left to live. Yuuri asks Airi if she wants to keep living. Airi says yes, saying she wishes to live longer and wanting to eat lots of delicious things with Yuuri. Yuuri hands her a spoon, saying it's charm filled with dreams. She tells Airi to wait until she comes back. We then find that Airi has been miraculously cured of her illness. As she tearfully hugs Yuuri, Airi says that the spoon must have been magic. The truth seems to be something different as Kyubey's silhouette is seen in the window. Later at school, Yuuri and Airi talk about going to a restaurant that's holding a contest. Airi says she'll treat Yuuri if she wins the contest before handing her back the spoon, asking it to help Yuuri. The contest appears to be a cooking contest, which has the same symbol from Yuuri's letter in the previous chapter. However, Yuuri is missing when the final round starts (At this point we also learn her last name is Asuka). As Airi looks for her, she finds herself in the barrier of a giant witch that resembles a hypodermic needle. The Pleiades Saints arrive and quickly destroy the witch with giant arrows (that look like the arrow that sent Yuuri's letter in the previous chapter). Kazumi is not among them, suggesting she hasn't joined the Saints at this time. As Airi thanks the Saints for saving her, they tell her to forget what she saw, and to watch out for dark alleys and Witch's Kisses. When the Saints leave, Airi finds that the witch dropped Yuuri's spoon when it was destroyed. Kyubey appears and tells Airi that the witch was Yuuri, causing her to scream.

:That night, Kyubey explains what happened in detail. Yuuri's wish was to cure Airi's illness. We see her in magical girl form, holding a giant hypodermic needle. In addition to fighting witches, she also used her magic to cure incurable diseases. This ultimately caused her to use too much magic and turn into a witch. In fact, she transformed right in front of the Pleiades Saints. Crying, Airi asks why the Pleiades didn't try to help Yuuri, cursing herself for thanking the people who killed her. Kyubey says he'll grant Airi's wish and turn her into a magical girl. Airi says she won't forgive the Pleiades Saints and

;Chapter 6: "Loss Parfait" - Released June 24th, 2011.
:

:

:

Observations
* Although initially Kazumi Magica appeared to have no connection to the anime, it developed a greater connection to the anime over time, culminating in nearly all of the inconsistencies being explained in Chapter 4.
* Kazumi is not set after the events of the anime.
* Food seems to play a major role in Kazumi Magica. Every chapter is titled after something food-related that is mentioned in that chapter, three of the magical girls are good cooks, and all of the magical girls enjoy eating.
;:Kazumi (かずみ)
:A girl with amnesia who can't remember anything except her name. Her innocent, cheerful and friendly personalities are in proportion of her lost memories. ;:Kaoru (カオル)
:An athletic soccer player living with Umika. A bright older sister figure who takes good care of things. She wished for a strong, healthy body that would let her play soccer.
;:Umika Misaki (御崎 海香)
:A popular novelist who bought the trio's house with her earnings. Her reliable, mature aura changes completely when there's a deadline looming. She is close to Kaoru and thinks of Kazumi as a little sister. She wished for the chance to meet an editor who would publish her stories.
:She's impulsive and occasionally gives Kazumi a beating, but deep down a caring girl.
;:Satomi Usagi (宇佐木 里美)

;:"Yuuri" (ユウリ) / Airi (あいり)
:A mysterious magical girl that acts antagonistically towards the others, and shares a connection with the mysterious new witches. She is the one who kidnapped Kazumi, created the pseudo-witches of the first two chapters, and has a grudge against the Pleiades Saints. Uses pistols and submachine guns as her weapons (which, contrary to Homura's, appear to actually be magical) and can summon a giant bull. She also appears capable of setting up impenetrable force barriers and disguising herself as other people.

:Chapter 5 reveals

;Chapter 1: "Bad - Guy - Reckon Off" - Released January 24th, 2011.

:

:{{Spoiler| As the magical girls gear up to attack, Kazumi protests, saying that Airi wasn't a bad person because she dedicated her life for a friend. Mirai tells Kazumi that they know, and that's why they have to kill her. Juubey then appears, telling Kazumi that Airi is no longer a magical girl, but a witch. He further states "We don't understand how, but sometimes one of these appear. Their gems go out of control." Finally, he says that it's impossible to turn witches back to normal, and the only choice is to kill them. Kazumi says there's no way she can do it. Saki says she knows, and tells Kazumi she doesn't have to dirty her hands. One by one, the Pleiades attack the witch as Kazumi begs them to stop. Finally, Satomi apologizes, saying all they can do is prevent the witch from hurting anyone. Kaoru then says only they have to carry that burden, and they'll finish this by themselves. The Pleiades are shown to clearly be as pained by this as Kazumi is. Kazumi then uses Limit Estern, aiming straight for the witch. Just before the blow hits, she says Yuuri's name. The witch is then destroyed, the spoon drops to the ground, and the barrier collapses. As Kazumi picks up the spoon, she says she'll share the burden with the Pleiades, and then cries into Umika's arms.

:

* Satomi's surname is meaningful, given her love for animals. Usagi means rabbit.
* Twin cat-like fangs can be seen when Satomi fully opens her mouth. Together with her cat-like appearance when transformed, and her "Meow" shouts in battle, she can be seen as the (mandatory) cat girl in the Madoka universe, along with Yuma Chitose.

* Kyouko Sakura confirmed that Walpurgis was the most powerful witch in Episode 9; in Episode 10, however, Madoka Kaname eclipsed her in power in two of the timelines created by Homura Akemi, becoming the god-like Kriemhild Gretchen.

**Evidence supporting this theory are the gears and cogwheels, the purple colour scheme, as well as the fact how her arrival is always extremely vague (ie. time travel, Homura Akemi's power as a Puella Magi).

**
:Can anybody work the speculation into a politically-correct form? --User:Craig1125--
::There are problems with the speculah as is:
::*The attributes suggested to denote Korean heritage here are, simply put, highly neutral in meaning. They can be taken at face value without a deeper explanation. More to the point, they don't warrant a deeper explanation. Most speculah that have been given articles in this wiki describe "odd" events or phenomenon that are explicitly without explanation, or require more of an explanation than the canon offers in order to make sense. In this case, there is nothing about Kyouko thus far that strongly demands fans to supply explanation to her background beyond what is provided.
::*Using logic similar to that posed within the speculah, I could claim that Sayaka is probably half-Russian because of the ethnic backgrounds of the musicians she likes. I could then elaborate the claim with circumstantial evidence relating to her negative, Russian-stereotypical personality traits and the relevance of the three mirrors in her living room to Russian folklore. This would then be used as a basis for a claim that Akiyuki Shinbo is promoting a negative portrayal of those with Russian heritage. In short, it becomes possible to read anything into anything.
::*You could make this speculah perfectly neutral and politically correct in wording, etc, but so long as the content essentially accuses Akiyuki Shinbo of promoting negative, racist stereotypes, you're provoking people into participating in a flame war or an edit war. Unless more substantial evidence can be provided -- past comments; past usages of explicitly Korean themes that you can't mistake for anything else; past involvement in racially-motivated rows, etc -- there isn't even grounds to format this thing as a justified, informed criticism of Akiyuki Shinbo's works.
::Unless these three issues are addressed, it is very unlikely that the speculah will fly. I don't even mean that in the sense of, "I personally won't support it." I mean that if it gets put up, every flamemonger out there with an interest in Madoka will end up trolling here. --Fallacies 09:47, 28 February 2011 (UTC)
::::From the text alone, it's impossible to determine the intent of the writer. Even if he or "most Koreans" don't take it seriously, somebody might. ::Some of the speculation is compelling, particularly the apple symbolism (Instead of just "wasting food" Sayaka must choose between treating it as the tainted biblical fruit of knowledge or a gesture of apology. By choosing the former she chooses purity and uncompromising honor at the cost of rejecting the concept of redemption and the importance of human relationships. As a side effect, this is a direct insult to Kyouko, not just to her food manners). Simply saying a character is Korean isn't accusing Shinbo of anything, although the original post certainly was. The only reason not to put a revised version up is that it might attract people who are out to have a flamewar regardless of the actual content. --17:40, 28 February 2011 KM
*One legend of the Melusine indicates that the Melusine has a golden key on her mouth. The legend says that if you retrieve the golden key from the Melusine she can be freed and be claimed as a bride. When Kyouko fuses her Soul Gem with her hairpin the shape and form looks almost like a golden key. It is speculation, but it is peculiar that the new form of her Soul Gem would take such a form, not to mention it seems strange that she would need to fuse her hairpin with her Soul Gem sine she will destroy it later. --Mutopis 01:16, 9 March 2011 (UTC)

One idea is that Charlotte is a patient in the nearby hospital, who either turned into a witch out of her own grudges or was forcibly turned into one under the theory that the Grief Seed there was planted on purpose. Here's some copy/paste regarding her involvement in EP3.

It may be that witches sense the feelings of people around them and reflect them in their gardens. This episode's witch appears near a hospital, so we get hospital-themed imagery with needles and drugs. Those are probably not suggesting drug use, because we had scissors in there too and those are more related to surgery. There's also an "In Operation" panel above a door in the garden. Those are probably related to Charlotte's own experiences, if we are to assume that she's a patient afflicted with some serious condition. However, other people's emotions and thoughts also seem to activate witches, when Mami talked about eating cake and how she isn't lonely anymore, the witch noticed the emotional change and woke up (hence candies everywhere during that scene. Those candies are perhaps celebrating the birth of Charlotte as a witch.)

Where do the sweets and the cake dragon come in? The witch herself was (or is) a patient in the hospital, probably a little girl judging by Charlotte's initial appearance and how the text and imagery in the witch garden (mainly dolls and sweets) lacked the sophistication Gertrude's Faust quotes, butterflies and roses had. As befitting a kid her age, she most likely loves sweets, but she has some severe illness and has to stay in the hospital permanently, and her diet needs to be strictly controlled due to her condition. So all she can do is watching other kids play and be happy and eat whatever they want while she's struck in the hospital waiting for her death. She starts cursing those children (and/or her own condition), and eventually (with or without outside interference) she starts turning into a witch.

Another point is that even though Charlotte's back did feature the cake dragon's face, the dragon itself exploded out of her when Mami constricted her first form. That second form could be a reflection of Charlotte's (probably gastrointestinal tract-related) condition, the source of her grudge. Both Charlotte and the cake dragon have red spots on them, instead of strawberries or candy, those could be related to Charlotte's medical condition. Say, they could represent erythema nodosum, a symptom of Crohn's disease (which is far from obscure, so it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume that it was used.) Helminths are another possibility due to the similarities between the cake dragon and a parasitic worm, but helminths are generally easy to treat and won't cause the sort of effects presupposed here.

So the scenario is thus: Little girl is hospitalized due to serious medical condition (eg. Crohn's disease), is a bit of a glutton but can't eat anything she wants due to dietary regulations (hence candy imagery in her garden), starts to curse the hospital she's stuck in (hence hospital imagery in her garden) and the children who can play outside the hospital without a care in the world. This curse starts turning her into a witch. Mami comes along and starts talking about cake, unintentionally pissing off Charlotte (since her grudge mostly has to do with not being able to do/eat as she wishes) Charlotte awakens and decides on eating Mami, she gets her ass handed to her instead. In her childish rage, the source of her curse takes over as the cake dragon (which is actually her intestines) and chomps down Mami. Alternatively, Charlotte was awakened by Mami's emotional turmoil, but homed in on her because she believed Mami to be a large lump of cheese, under the theory that witches view the world differently. Accordingly; Mami, Sayaka and Madoka all appeared as food to Charlotte, but she immediately went after Mami because she saw Mami as her favorite food, cheese.

How do I add my name and date on this I am not good with the internet --Croases 13:46, 22 January 2011 (CST)
:Here's my guess. There are many levels inside the witches barriers. Charlotte's barrier appeared near the the city's hospital and this resulted in her barrier look. As we can see the first levels are all hospital themed but the last one isn't. It's made of sweets. Same goes for Gertrud's barrier. First levels doesn't look like the last one at all. does this mean there was a mahou shoujo in the hospital? --89.244.165.11 9:26, 27 February 2011 (CST)
The thing that bugs this anon about Charlotte's Grief Seed is that it is just suddenly there. It's not like Sayaka's transformation, where it looks like the witch's barrier manifests immediately. It's just hanging there on a hospital wall in plain view of everyone until it is able to create a barrier, (although there's some indication that it was invisible to ordinary people; it's Madoka who notices the Grief Seed, while Sayaka just passes it by and only seems to notice when Madoka points it out.) Now we haven't seen a familiar become a witch, but it seems very unlikely they just suddenly become a growing Grief Seed in between their transformation. So where did the Grief Seed come from? I believe that question was actually asked out loud by one of the characters, but no answer was given. Did Kyuube plant it? Is there some bizarre extra-dimensional space that Grief Seeds fall out of? If there is an extra-dimensional space, could it be related to the reason why corpses inside a witch's barrier vanish, even if the witch dies? And why did Homura say to Mami that Charlotte was different? Was it because Mami died to Charlotte in her timeline? If so, why was she so surprised when Mami's bindings vanished?

tl;dr There are a lot of unanswered questions about Charlotte and the appearance of her Grief Seed, and the most obvious answers only raise more questions. 24.187.7.217 21:43, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
24.187.7.217https://wiki.puella-magi.net/w/index.php?title=Talk:Charlotte&diff=4966Talk:Charlotte2011-02-27T21:43:59Z
24.187.7.217:

:Here's my guess. There are many levels inside the witches barriers. Charlotte's barrier appeared near the the city's hospital and this resulted in her barrier look.
Shadow of Memories
From the Homura Residence article: "The exterior view of Homura's residence resembles a scene from Shadow of Memories (Shadow of Destiny for North America). Interestingly it went through several title changes before release, among them The Day and Night of Walpurgisnacht, Days of Walpurgis, and Time Adventure." It would be helpful if this claim is investigated, and more evidencce is provided. --Fallacies 19:19, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
Faust
Faust I contains a scene called Walpurgisnachtstraum ( in [ ] equvivalent person in the anime:
Mephistopheles [Kyubey] notices that Faust [Madoka] relation to him is getting lose because of Faust´s love to Gretchen(A women Faust got pregnant) [Sayaka]. He tries to get him motivated again by showing him an great, amazing and fantasitc event on the Hexenberg (witch´s mountain). Meanwhile Gretchen snaps and kills her baby [=Sayaka snaps and becomes a witch]. The event is the following: Many witches try to get on the Brocken (a mountain in Germany) where the devil visits them. Faust tries to get on the top because he thinks that there some riddles can be solved. But Mephistopholes convinces him to dance with a witch. Faust stops the dance when a red mouse falls out of the mouth of the witch and a "pretty child" appears that reminds him to Gretchen with a red cord around her neck which reminds to her future execution (for killing the child [for becoming a witch])To distract Faust Mephistopholes leads him to a hill where a play should be shown
(i tried to translate the text from the german wikipedia)
:Added. I tried to reword it a bit but I'm not a native english speaker and I haven't read Faust either so that wasn't easy. Anyone more knowledgeable feel free to make it more sexy. That being said, I read on Wikipedia that Walpurgisnacht also appears in Faust part. II. Is it relevant? --Homerun-chan 20:55, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
as much as i know the witch Erichtho appears and mixes up the preolympical time, the roman time and the Greek War of Independence (which happend in the time Faust plays). Faust gains new power through this while Mephitsopholes feels irritated and find reletives (other demons)between the antic creatures [may be a hint that other kyubey like creatures will appear if this scene is used in madoka magika

note: since there are Faust 1 & 2, maybe madoka magika will get a second season

:: Different anon here: I'd like to point out from the translation of Faust Act 1 I read, there is a "half-witch" that says she is unable to fly, and the other witches respond that if she can't fly on that night she can never fly again. Considering that the magical girls can be thought of as "half-witches", I'm wondering if Homura is the parallel to the half-witch, especially if Walpurgis is the prologue dream.
24.187.7.217https://wiki.puella-magi.net/w/index.php?title=Thread_Glossary&diff=4177Thread Glossary2011-02-24T04:30:24Z
24.187.7.217:
