• The characters of her last name mean "chestnut" (栗) and "nest" (栖) respectively.
  • She may be named after Saburō Kurusu, a Japanese diplomat who acted as an envoy trying to negotiate peace and understanding with the United States while his own government, under the leadership of Hideki Tojo, were secretly preparing an attack on Pearl Harbor.
