Chiharu Hiroe is a character in the 2017 mobile game Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story: Magia Record. Chiharu is the first new magical girl to premiere for the second arc of MagiReco.

• The characters in her last name mean "vast, wide" (広) and "creek" or "river" (江) respectively.

Trivia

• Both Chiharu's outfit and weapon are based on the machi-bugyou, which were the equivalent of police officers during the edo period in japan.
• Chiharu is a big fan of detective fiction, and her wish seems to have granted her with detective-like powers for detecting cases of corruption and cover-ups.
• Chiharu's Doppel, Oaji, is based on a species of groundcherry, Physalis alkekengi, also known as "Japanese lanterns".
  • Physalis alkekengi are noted for their resemblance to paper lanterns.
  • They are also used in the annual Bon Festival, a Japanese Buddhist festival to honor one's ancestors, as offerings to guide the souls of the deceased.
