Chiharu Hiroe is a character in the 2017 mobile game Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story: Magia Record. Chiharu is the first new magical girl to premiere for the second arc of MagiReco.

Summary
A magical girl with a keen sense of smell that belongs to the Tokime Tribe. She went with her mother to the Tokime village to learn about her bloodline. She's reckless, with a strong sense of justice and a keen nose for evil doings, but in a place with so many incidents and evil going on it could be futile.
Doppel Description
The Doppel of selection. Its form is a sodegarami. The master of this emotion proudly believes that its ability exists to reveal and capture evil, but in truth, it is a Doppel that seeks 6 human sacrifices to plunge into the depths in its master’s place. No matter how well an adversary hides, its lantern head will expose all beneath the light of day, and its three-pronged claws will drag them down to the bottom of the swamp. The more targets it drags into the swamp, the more powerful this Doppel becomes, but that power is sure to descend upon its master as a calamity one day. Nevertheless, this Doppel continues to desperately store up power for the sake of eliminating those who would do harm to its master.

The following is a summary posted on 4chan's /pmmm/ general by Summary Anon. [Continued from Green Jasper Diviners] The village is in financial crisis since the elder who is also in charge of the money is dead, and she squandered most of the wealth via bad investments. Although she still has some good shares, a few months are needed for them to be acquired. Chiharu remembered a drama she loved where the Shogun disguised himself and helped poor villages to find their charm and rejuvenate them, and thus she roped in Shizuka and Sunao to help. The two are glad for a change since most of the Tokime side tribes are unwilling to believe their tales of magical girls. After a tour of the village with Shizuka and Sunao guiding her, Chiharu realized how arrogant she was before, and finds the village full of charm: its clear river with lively fishes, the beautiful mountain with abundant fruits and wild vegetables and the kind and helpful villages. After further discussion with Shizuka and Sunao, the three proposed that the village should try a hand in tourism. The trio's sincerity is backed by Shizuka's mom's adventurous spirit, so Chiharu's mom agrees to the plan. But first, they do a trial run with the family of her husband's sister. Though it is pretty messy since everyone is new, the beautiful landscape and the interesting activities of harvesting fruits, wild vegetation and fishing, backed with good rural cooking with kind and helpful hosts gave the family a good time. They enjoyed the trip while giving useful feedback and suggestions on improvement. Chiharu's uncle even pointed out that the big fruit the village has is unique since it can only be grown in that environment. They would love to visit again, and left after staying the night and enjoying the hot springs. The villagers applaud Chiharu for pointing out the charms of the village which they cannot see since it is part of their life. Chiharu's mom begin writing a proposal to the Japanese Tourism Board to apply for funds to renovate the village for tourism, and the villagers also regain vigor and start working in both the tourism sector and by finding jobs outside the village. - Chiharu’s wish, like Shizuka’s, was decided for her by The Mikoshiba as a condition of a bribe from an unknown, unspecified high-ranking position within the Elites of Japan
- Chiharu was born outside Kirimine County, but was recruited by The Mikoshiba tracking down her mother and reaching out as The Mikoshiba needed another wish to sell to bring in money to the village after she failed in investment recently
- Both Chiharu's outfit and weapon are based on the Okappiki, which were the equivalent of police officers during the edo period in japan.
- Chiharu is a big fan of "Koichi Todoroki the Drifter P.I.(宿無し探偵等々力耕一)", a detective fiction TV series. and her wish seems to have granted her with detective-like powers for detecting cases of corruption and cover-ups.
- Chiharu's Doppel, Oaji, is based on both a sodegarami and a species of groundcherry, Physalis alkekengi, also known as "Japanese lanterns".
- Sodegarami are a type of Japanese "man catcher", a pole arm designed to grab, pull, and restrain people for capture.
- Physalis alkekengi are noted for their resemblance to paper lanterns.
- They are also used in the annual Bon Festival, a Japanese Buddhist festival to honor one's ancestors, as offerings to guide the souls of the deceased.
- The description of her Doppel resembles the premise of the novel The Island of Thirty Coffins by Maurice Leblanc, featuring his gentleman thief character Arsène Lupin. In the novel, there is an island surrounded by thirty coffin-like stones, which legend says will reveal a magical stone that grants life and death when the thirty coffins have been filled and four women have been crucified on the island's trees.
- Her Doppel may be a reference to the Japanese legend of human sacrifice on Mitsumata-fuchi (三股淵, literally means "three-pronged stream pool"). This legend is about traveling diviners forced to drown into the river as sacrifice to calm the dragon down. In the legend, Oaji became a sacrifice selected from among seven diviners, or was not chosen and escaped solely.
- Her Doppel's name may be a reference to a term from the abstract strategy board game Go, "aji". In Go, "aji" (which literally translates to "taste" or "flavor") essentially refers to "latent potential", it refers to played stones' (pieces) lingering ability to open various avenues of play. "Good aji" is when one's group is strong and has little chance of being compromised; "bad aji" is when weaknesses in one's formation carry a latent threat of compromising an existing area in certain situations. "Aji" is different from a simple defect or weakness in that it can be exploited and/or repaired in multiple ways at multiple stages of the game and the best way or time is not immediately clear; hence the "aftertaste" metaphor.
- In Go, the goal of the game is to surround more territory than the opponent. This likely references the tribe war and multiple factions' goals to either expand or take control of Kamihama's Doppel field.
- The Papa New Year's Memoria refers to a "yakuman". This is a particularly high-value hand in mahjong that is extremely difficult to achieve, akin to a royal flush.
