Rebellion hit another important milestone last week: It now is the highest *charted* grossing movie of all time for late-night anime franchise. The previous record holder - K-on! This is It - fell off the box office chart at 1.670 billion yen after 79 days.

K-on went on to rack up 1.9 billion yens at its theatrical run, which Rebellion is also expcted to exceed in the coming days.

Rebellion Box Office finally got released this week:

• Rebellion Day-44: gross-to-date 1.9 billion yen, according to Boxofficemofo (less accurate?); earned 25 million yen over the weekend (#7), Ranked 10th in gross on the weekend
• Alternative source has Rebellion listed at 1.83 billion yen instead
• 2ch data has Rebellion listed at 1.85 billion yen for the week

Looks like Rebellion has finally begun to lose steam in the box office and will fall out of the top-10 this week. Because of this, box office data became harder and less accurate to come by, so we won't know exactly when Rebellion takes over the all-time box office record from the K-on! movie, outside of an official press release.
