Michiru Kazusa (和紗 ミチル) nicknamed Kazumi, was a the leader of the Pleiades Saints. She made the Pleiades Saints and Yuuri Asuka contract and became Puella Magi. She eventually turned into a witch and died, so the Pleiades are trying to revive her.
The current Kazumi is actually the 13th clone of her.
Despite being deceased at the beginning of the series, she is important to Kazumi Magica's story, because her death set the events in motion.

At some point between rescuing the other Pleiades Saints and the death of Yuuri Asuka, Kazusa transformed into a witch. Desperate to revive her, the Pleiades Saints utilized Nico's powers of regeneration and began cloning her from the witch's body. Thirteen of the clones were made; twelve are hidden inside the Freezer, while the thirteenth - the current Kazumi - is with the Pleiades Saints. After being exposed to an Evil Nut, Kazumi is beginning to turn back into a witch.
Trivia
She is the magical girl who was saved by Mami, saved the other members of Pleiades Saints, and lead them.
- Her nickname, Kazumi comes from Kazusa Michiru.
