Mikage Yakumo is the one of the original characters of the 2017 mobile game Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story: Magia Record. She is promoted to playable on November 16, 2020 and is the younger sister of Mitama Yakumo.

Summary

A Magical Girl trying to erase her older sister’s resentment towards Kamihama City. Although she often follows a tune at her own pace, she has an innocent and likeable nature. She can be often seen playing alone in candy shops and parks, but many of her friends she would consider her best friends. She’s good at begging.

Etymology

• The characters in her last name mean "eight" (八) and "cloud" (雲) respectively.
• Mikage means "divine spirit," it's basically translated "spirit of the dead". Yakumo, meanwhile, is a famous poem like Iroha's name is, said to be literally the first poem in Japanese ever written (by Susanoo himself, no less). Extremely roughly translated, it goes: "From eight rising clouds I build a wondrous eightfold fence in Izumo to contain my divine bride; oh wondrous eightfold fence."
• Her doppel name, Casuarius, is the genus of the Cassowary species, an aggressive flightless bird native to the Australian area, with a reputation to attack both animals and humans alike unprovoked.

• Her Soul Gem shape is similar to that of her sister, but instead of plus-shaped, it is x-shaped.
