Mio's backstory is unknown. All that is known about her is that she was apart of Lina's group in Kazamino and has been fighting against Sasa for a time with them, seeking to avenge the death of her best friend Futaba who was killed by her.
During Sadness Prayer
Mio is first seen helping Lina and the other members of her team fight against Sasa in Kazamino. After Sasa escapes, Mio tracks her down and fights the other magical girl by herself against Lina's orders. It is revealed that Sasa killed a member of Mio's team named Futaba, who was Mio's best friend. After Sasa insults the late Futaba, Mio becomes infuriated and deliberately tries to kill Sasa.
