A three volume manga adaption of Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Rebellion based on Gen Urobuchi's scenario, illustrated by Hanokage. The first volume was released on November 12, 2013, the second on December 12, 2013, and the third on January 10, 2014.

The manga has been licensed by Yen Press to be released in English as a single hardcover collection, instead of licensing all three volumes to be released as separate paperbacks as per usual. The English volume will be released on June 23, 2015.

Differences from the movie

While the manga has few differences to the movie — the differences mostly being those of imagery, with all the scenes being otherwise kept intact and faithful — there are still a few notable changes compared to the movie. This section is an attempt to list them.

Volume 1

Volume 2

  • There is a new scene at the beginning of volume 2 that is not present in the movie. Homura, with her glasses and braids removed, is walking to school, where she is approached and greeted by Mami and Bebe. Mami remarks how Homura looks stunning with her new look, and that Mami almost didn't recognize her at first. Homura then asks if Mami has spare time after school, leading in to the scene that takes place in Mami's apartment.

Volume 3

  • When Homura sees Kyubey's conspiracy and before she says that she doesn't want such happiness, it connects to the final scene of the third volume of the original manga. However, when she running after Madoka happily, a darkened Homura takes a pistol and shoots her in the head. This might show her despair.
