Roberta discussion

Keep the discussion here, and the thread with proper statements for each point, only. BrickBreak 00:46, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

The main strike against this theory is that if Mami transformed into a witch in that timeline, she wouldn't have lost her head against Charlotte.

It could be seen as the fact that Mami doesn't have a very solid head on her shoulders, or maybe the witch's head as just hidden from sight behind the cage.
Mami has a very solid head on her shoulders, as indicated by her fortitude and ability to withstand transforming into a witch for several years. Her attempt to kill the other girls in the third timeline, widely interpreted as an act of insanity, could actually be seen as a "solid-headed" decision: in order to prevent the other girls and herself from becoming Witches (and thus a threat to the people she wants to protect), Mami tries to quickly and painlessly end their lives. Most people would call what she did 'snapping in the face of the truth'. It's generally the opposite of having a solid head if you don't have the ability to think things through before doing them after a harsh revelation.
She could have been thinking it through the whole battle with Oktavia -- assuming that they found out before the battle, rather than during it. Looking at the Population dynamics page, and considering Mami's dedication to protecting others even at the cost of her own well-being (she always kills familiars rather than let them grow into witches, which means less Grief Seeds to cleanse her Soul Gem), killing the other girls and herself really does seem like a rational -- but cruel -- decision. (It was not the best decision, but what else do you do when you have little time and the guy pulling the strings is invincible?) To be honest, if Mami wasn't crying and shouting during that scene, most people probably wouldn't think she had snapped. Momoism 01:00, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

The official description of the witch also seems to contradict this theory, suggesting instead a party girl who desired attention from others.

Mami made her magical girl stuff flashy and attention-seeking. I don't think that particular line debunks the theory entirely.
However, we aren't given any reason to believe that Mami was an alcoholic (as the card suggests Roberta was) or received lots of unwanted attention from men. Momoism 01:01, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
While the alcohol is unlikely (unless she spikes that tea and it was in our face all along) then yeah, that's unlikely. Though with the focus on her chest, attention from men must be a given.
Interestingly, Roberta's legs are emphasized, with her upper body cut out entirely. Momoism 01:01, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
If Mami was spiking her tea, then she was quite the drinker, she did it all the time and never even got a bit weewee.

Hello! I was bored, sitting in a room talking with friends, and made this: http://i53.tinypic.com/30cpvns.png Some of them are shots in the dark (Albertine is based on the twintails of her minion, Roberta is based on the legwear being different on each leg, Gisela is based on that airpin and long sleeves, etc), but I thought they might interest people.

I suggest you join the discussion here then; we're trying to figure out who's who too, and hearing from research on your side might help --Homerun-chan 21:40, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
