The Pit and the Pendulum speculah at Homura Residence seems to come from the same people. At the time I edited it, I thought it was kind of strange that the original poster emphasized their credit in first observing it -- given that nobody else really cares for that stuff. o.O

It's being discussed in the thread right now (thread #261 for archive reference). I think we all agree the guy who saw anti-Korean subtext read too much into things. As for the openly racist content, I for one skim through the changes regularly (and I'm fairly sure I'm not the only one) so I believe it would be spotted/corrected rather fast. There are problems with the speculah as is:

• The attributes suggested to denote Korean heritage here are, simply put, highly neutral in meaning. They can be taken at face value without a deeper explanation. More to the point, they don't warrant a deeper explanation. Most speculah that have been given articles in this wiki describe "odd" events or phenomenon that are explicitly without explanation, or require more of an explanation than the canon offers in order to make sense. In this case, there is nothing about Kyouko thus far that strongly demands fans to supply explanation to her background beyond what is provided.
• Using logic similar to that posed within the speculah, I could claim that Sayaka is probably half-Russian because of the ethnic backgrounds of the musicians she likes. I could then elaborate the claim with circumstantial evidence relating to her negative, Russian-stereotypical personality traits and the relevance of the three mirrors in her living room to Russian folklore. This would then be used as a basis for a claim that Akiyuki Shinbo is promoting a negative portrayal of those with Russian heritage. In short, it becomes possible to read anything into anything.
• You could make this speculah perfectly neutral and politically correct in wording, etc, but so long as the content essentially accuses Akiyuki Shinbo of promoting negative, racist stereotypes, you're provoking people into participating in a flame war or an edit war. Unless more substantial evidence can be provided -- past comments; past usages of explicitly Korean themes that you can't mistake for anything else; past involvement in racially-motivated rows, etc -- there isn't even grounds to format this thing as a justified, informed criticism of Akiyuki Shinbo's works.

Unless these three issues are addressed, it is very unlikely that the speculah will fly. I don't even mean that in the sense of, "I personally won't support it." I mean that if it gets put up, every flamemonger out there with an interest in Madoka will end up trolling here. --Fallacies 09:47, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

From the text alone, it's impossible to determine the intent of the writer. Even if he or "most Koreans" don't take it seriously, somebody might. Some of the speculation is compelling, particularly the apple symbolism (Instead of just "wasting food" Sayaka must choose between treating it as the tainted biblical fruit of knowledge or a gesture of apology. By choosing the former she chooses purity and uncompromising honor at the cost of rejecting the concept of redemption and the importance of human relationships. As a side effect, this is a direct insult to Kyouko, not just to her food manners). Simply saying a character is Korean isn't accusing Shinbo of anything, although the original post certainly was. The only reason not to put a revised version up is that it might attract people who are out to have a flamewar regardless of the actual content. --17:40, 28 February 2011 KM

Weapon usage

So far, Kyouko is the only Magical Girl to not create multiple copies of her weapon to use in battle. Is it worth adding this into the trivia? Or would it be worth adding a weapon usage section to all character profiles? xgraphy 04:34, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

Speculah

Kyouko is not seen in Prolog im Himmel. She may be dead or became witch herself. The reason for being not seen is not revealed yet

Melusine Picture

Can someone explain why there seems to be a connection between Melusine and Kyoko's Soul Gem? I don't really see it. --24.187.7.217 10:43, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

• One legend of the Melusine indicates that the Melusine has a golden key on her mouth. The legend says that if you retrieve the golden key from the Melusine she can be freed and be claimed as a bride. When Kyouko fuses her Soul Gem with her hairpin the shape and form looks almost like a golden key. It is speculation, but it is peculiar that the new form of her Soul Gem would take such a form, not to mention it seems strange that she would need to fuse her hairpin with her Soul Gem sine she will destroy it later. --Mutopis 01:16, 9 March 2011 (UTC)
