Runes

>Notice the runes are written with the font from the Runes page.
Err, what? I didn't pay close attention (and I'm pretty bad at discerning fonts anyway), but they're not using the official font? --Homerun-chan 20:20, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

We are being watched. Smile! --BrickBreak 21:18, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
Oh, Sh... they are unto us!!! --Mutopis 21:20, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
That seems outright silly. Why would they be using a font the fans made when the show creators are supporting this café thing with tons of material? It seems more likely that they're getting the runes directly from the source.
That's exactly why I asked. I'd like to know what lead people to think they used our font rather than the official one ... --Homerun-chan 21:45, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
Well, I thought it was obvious they used our font just by looking at it (compare the font here with the font used on the witch cards or the manga), and specially by the fact they're using an old version where the archaic P letter isn't fixed to include the hole in the base. Anyway, if you still don't believe me, here's some evidence to back my claim: [1] (I wrote above the original pic using our font with blue color and black outline) --FontAnon 23:54, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
The official font comes in several different variants, all of which look slightly different than our version. Moreover, when runes appear in the anime, different letters have different sizes, while our runic font has constant height for all the runes. As to why have they used it? I presume that the anime creators don't really have a font - it's probably just a bunch of graphic files, inserted individually into the animation. Our TTF was convenient, so they went with it. It's still interesting whether the café got it directly from us, or asked Shaft (or Aniplex, or whoever), and received our file from them ;) --KFYatek 11:59, 12 May 2011 (UTC)

Apart from the whole fanmade font deal - I just realized the runes in the café bring up an interesting point - the ladies' bathroom sign is the first time the official media explicitly refer to magical girl as "Puella Magi" outside of the title. I think it adds a bit to the old discussion whether to translate 『魔法少女」 as "magical girl" or "Puella Magi". --kFYatek 13:54, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

About Good Smile Café

Small question: should we mention GSC's past ventures? I knew it falls a bit out of our focus, but some background's always nice. Plus, IIRC, there were still some items from the old ventures lying around. --BrickBreak 21:05, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, we could make a section "About the Café" or something, makes sense to me ... Also it's relevant for randomanon's comment below :) --Homerun-chan 21:44, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

About this page

I'm somewhat amused by this. It's only a temporary event so I didn't think the page would stay after the event is done. There were some interesting pics but nothing you wouldn't find at an equivalent themed restaurant like a Hollywood cafe. How much are people planning to expand this and is it going to be kept around permanently? -randomanon 21:28, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Actually, it started to become a little too big to stay on the merchandise page, and it didn't really belong there anyway, hence it got its own page, that's all. Aside from that, it's Madoka-related and it's quite an amusing event, so there isn't really a reason for it not to be here. For the two last questions, I'd say "wait and see". It'll probably stay here for archiving purposes, but the content and size of this page is pretty unpredictable --Homerun-chan 21:44, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, it's a bit my fault there for dumping so many photos for it. I thought it'd be fun but temporary and at the time there wasn't this great coverage by this guy's blog [2] who did a really great job. --randomanon 21:54, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
I predict there will be more future Madoka events. There is no way SHAFT wont milk this --Mutopis 22:14, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
