* "Puella Maleficae" - girl of the [evil] witch ("maleficae" literally means "doing bad"); this is the one that can be interpreted as "girl form of the witch", since "Magi" is male and thus trying to interpret it as "girl form of the witch" implies that the girls change gender when turning into witches. Ew.

* "Puella Veneficae" - girl of the [evil] witch; different from "maleficae" in that it has an implication of poison

* "Puella Lamiae" - girl of the witch; different from "veneficae" in that it implies the witch is non-humanlike.

Revision as of 00:30, 3 May 2011

This page and Speculah:Finds are quite similar. I suggest we keep here all the "hard facts" (Like Yuuki Aoi's involvment in the animation and buildings) and put all the runescript translations and other more debatable things in the Speculah:Finds page. Mic2070 10:42, 19 January 2011 (CST)

See the proposal here: http://wiki.puella-magi.net/Talk:Main_Page I think I'll do the changes once I'm back from dinner --Homerun-chan 11:40, 19 January 2011 (CST)

Okay, remodelling finished (although I'm not sure about the layout). Here is how it should work:

  • When you find something new, add a new subsection. Add a thumbnail if needed (don't forget to add the "clear" tag so that sections don't overlap)
  • If you want to add speculah, observations, or, well, anything that is not hard objective fact, then please add a subsubsection "Speculations" or something of the like, and put that there.

That's all --Homerun-chan 13:03, 19 January 2011 (CST)

  • i would move all the captured writings to one place. here is where i put them. now its here. would look more tidier .
  • likewise put the transcription of what Anthonies said in ep1 to its parent section

--Saveol2009 13:46, 19 January 2011 (CST)

moved the trivia about the burj khalifa and weltstadhaus to http://wiki.puella-magi.net/Mitakihara_Town and about the anthony to http://wiki.puella-magi.net/Gertrud#Anthony--Saveol2009 15:09, 19 January 2011 (CST)

I'm not sure about that, I think they belong here, at least the burj khalifa and the weldstadthaus ... After all, that's 100% trivia. Maybe reference this page from the Mitakihara page? --Homerun-chan 15:11, 19 January 2011 (CST)

undid the deletes about locations,i also moved the the trivia about sketches to official documents --Saveol2009 15:31, 19 January 2011 (CST)

Production errors? Really? There are way more than only that, please delete or make a whole new page.

i think it fits fine --Saveol2009 13:12, 21 January 2011 (CST)
Well, how about including the other one from episode 1? Or QUALITY? I don't like it when things are incomplete, so either you guys add every error, or no one. --Madokaanon 13:33, 21 January 2011 (CST)
every ones attention is turned to episode pages now so i guess the trivia there is fitting too. maybe to avoid deletion sysop could remove this link from sidebar and so that this page doesnt becomes unaccessible the trivias from the episode page could be referenced to here. the trivias could be explained in more detail here. i dont like when some ones work is being abused --Saveol2009 14:09, 21 January 2011 (CST)

Episode sections

Is there a hard and fast rule that decides when stuff goes on this page vs on the individual episode pages? I would lean towards moving all the episode-specific stuff to those pages and linking to them from here, and keeping the general / multi-episode stuff here. Oatmeal 01:24, 26 January 2011 (CST)

Opening theme

Its changes from episodes 2 to 3 might actually be a reflection of the changes in Madoka's worldview, when she witnessed Mami's death, which would explain the discoloration of the forest, the transformation scene being moved into a bubble, and the fact that Madoka runs even faster, as though she's in distress. Thoughts? MAHO☆KYOKO 06:50, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

Why it changed in ep3 and not ep4, I mean, before Mami's death, and not after, then? --KFYatek 10:15, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
Just checked episode 4, and the changes are there as well. MAHO☆KYOKO 06:07, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
OK, but I meant that the first time the changes appeared was ep3's opening, right? And ep3's opening was before Mami's death. Why would Madoka's worldview change so early? --KFYatek 12:56, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
It could just be that the changed OP denotes that the change will happen during the episode, and not that it happened already. MAHO☆KYOKO 05:21, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
Can someone with the BDs check to see if the OP for the first two eps match the TV OP for them? MAHO☆KYOKO 03:28, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
I haven't seen the actual video, but judging from some comparison screenshot already posted by Japanese fans, the ep6 version is used. See also User:KFYatek/Episode revisions, I'm gathering all the changes there. --KFYatek 09:42, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

Fun With Latin

Because I don't know where to put this. Note, this is not supposed to be a criticism of "Puella Magi" or anything like that. I'm just posting this for anyone interested.

This is just for fun. Some random Latin phrases with vague relevance that mean fun things.

  • "Puella Magica" - magical girl
  • "Puella Magiae" - girl of magic (Note: Yes, "Magia" means magic. Magic, the noun.)
  • "Puella Veneficii" - girl of [evil] magic
  • "Puella Venefici" (one i) - girl of the [evil] mage
  • "Puella Maleficae" - girl of the [evil] witch ("maleficae" literally means "doing bad"); this is the one that can be interpreted as "girl form of the witch", since "Magi" is male and thus trying to interpret it as "girl form of the witch" implies that the girls change gender when turning into witches. Ew.
  • "Puella Veneficae" - girl of the [evil] witch; different from "maleficae" in that it has an implication of poison
  • "Puella Lamiae" - girl of the witch; different from "veneficae" in that it implies the witch is non-humanlike.
