The series received an anime by Studio [[Shaft]] that was directed by [[Akiyuki Shinbo]], giving it a tangential connection to the ''Madoka Magica'' franchise.
The ''Monogatari'' series first crossed over with ''Madoka Magica'' as part of the "[[Madogatari]]" event. The crossover was limited to official merchandise and artwork.
In 2018, Mayoi was made into a playable character in [[Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story: Magia Record]], as part of a Madogatari event.

Labyrinth Magical Girl Mayoi Hachikuji. Uses the spell Caterpillant (Infinitely Reckless) , Screw Zone (Spiral Path). A magical girl specializing in defensive aspects. She avoids the route of her opponent's attacks . However she has no traditional attacks from here and can't land hits. Because her drill is for creating paths were there are none this is more of a construction tool, and not for attacking.
==Etymology==
* The characters of her last name mean "八" (eight), "九" (nine),  and "寺" (temple), respectively.
* The characters of her first name mean "真" (truth) and "宵" (evening), respectively.
==Trivia==
* When Mayoi uses her doppel, it does not show her witch's name in runes. Rather, it displays the white kanji "咼", which is the kanji for 'a' (as in ''a'' thing), in the same vein as to how [[Nadeko Sengoku]]'s doppel's name translates to 'it'. However, "咼" also looks like a snail.
