Tsubasa Hanekawa is a character from the Monogatari franchise, originally a light novel series by Nisio Isin. The series received an anime by Studio Shaft that was directed by Akiyuki Shinbo, giving it a tangential connection to the Madoka Magica franchise.

The Monogatari series first crossed over with Madoka Magica as part of the "Madogatari" event. The crossover was limited to official merchandise and artwork.

In 2018, Tsubasa was made into a playable character in Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story: Magia Record, as part of a Madogatari event.

Summary

The memorial magical girl. One of the 'what if' forms... of the heroines of the Monogatari series if they became magical girls. She lost her memories when she burnt something with a flame bottle, but her top-notch brain in her grade is constantly storing new memories. Her wish was "I want to forget everything".

Every time I burn something, I lose my memories. If I lose all my memories I'll become a witch, for this reason I continuously add new feelings for the long run. The evils of cram school seem to be showing. The repulsive amount of heat of this magical girl burning up the rest of the world is desirable from the viewpoint of Incubators.

Etymology

• The characters of her last name mean "羽" (feather) and "川" (river) respectively.
• The character of her first name means "翼" (wing).

Trivia

• The kanji of her witch form is a fake kanji, 猗. It apparently uses the 犭from 猫 (cat) and the 苛 from 苛虎 (rash tiger).
