== Why was the page Mami's mammies deleted? ==
Hi! Thank you for your contribution. But may I ask why did you decided to blank Speculah pages? Thanks. -- [[User:0x99|0x99]] 14:39, 25 April 2017 (UTC)

Couple of people have been discussing this on [http://walpurgischan.net/meduka/res/12934.html /meduka/] (this thread) that the wiki needs a clean up to look like a proper wiki, and speculah isn't exactly part of what's canon, but speculation that doesn't really fit considering all we know now and that it adds nothing but fanon. --[[User:The Witch's House|The Witch's House]] 20:17, 25 April 2017 (UTC)
Hi there, I am not sure if this is the correct place to ask this.
Sometimes I go to the Mami's mammies to grab some images to use or just to link to it as a joke in the /r/MadokaMagica Discord Server for newer people that don't know it exists.
Except this time when I checked I saw that it was deleted by you, was there a specific reason for this?
I, and others, thought it was quite a funny meme in the community so it would be a bit sad to see it go from the wiki after all these years.

:OK, got it. I think the best way if we want to cleanup the Wiki is probably to archive the whole Wiki as read only (e.g. as old.puella-magi.net or something) and start clean, probably importing stuff from the old wiki. What do you think in that case? (I think this discussion better be moved to Main Page?) - [[User:0x99|0x99]] 16:26, 26 April 2017 (UTC)

:::Yes, I think that would be the best way. Old wiki would still be accessible in its current form (although read-only). Restructuring pages would be a lot easier that way, as current wiki is a mix of facts and speculation etc. Cost wise probably better as well as images belongs to old wiki can be dumped into bulk hosting. -- [[User:0x99|0x99]] 06:13, 27 April 2017 (UTC)
:Hello there. While I personally find the page to also be amusing and mostly harmless, there was previous talk about deleting the page and recently when it was brought up again there was a 9-4 consensus in favor of deleting the page. Since I'm one of the admins, I was pinged and asked to delete the page. If you're interested in some of this discussion, it can be found on the talk page of the main page at the very bottom.  [[Talk:Main_Page]]. :::Agreed. I had at first tried to clean up the wiki so it was more standardized and streamlined across the board but page after page of speculah makes the wiki a proverbial rabbit's warren of pages and it's difficult to clean and keep what's relevant. If we archive this wiki and import/duplicate the main core of the pages to a new wiki that's been made from scratch it would definitely be easier to organize it from the beginning. Also, apologies if I went overboard on the cleanup. --[[User:Sondenise|Sondenise]] 06:08, 28 April 2017 (UTC)

== Memoria cards ==

== Invite to Write for GamePress MagiReco ==
I was noticing some cases where a memoria card contains a particular character, but that character's page does not reference the memoria card, so I was thinking of going through to track down all such cases that I can find. However, before I can do that, I have a few questions...

Hey Sondenise,
# Is there some logic to how memoria cards are ordered on a character's page? Is it just alphabetical by name? ~ [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]]) 20:50, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
#:I try to sort them by alphabetical order. [[User:Sondenise|Sondenise]] ([[User talk:Sondenise|talk]]) 01:35, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
# What's the best way to deal with alternate versions of characters, and dual units?
#:Should a memoria featuring swimsuit Iroha be included on Iroha's main page?
#:Should a memoria featuring Holy Mami be included on Mami's main page?
#:Should a memoria featuring Rumour Tsuruno be featured on Tsuruno's main page?
#:Should a memoria featuring Iroha-chan be featured on Iroha's main page?
#:Should a memoria featuring Delivery Girl Felicia be featured on Felicia's main page?
#:Should a memoria featuring Ultimate Madoka be featured on Madoka's main page?
#:Should a memoria featuring doppel Kyouko be featured on Kyouko's main page?
#:I imagine this is a complex question... my instinct would suggest the answer be "no" in the case of Iroha-chan or Ultimate Madoka but "yes" in most of the other cases. ~ [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]]) 20:50, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
: Originally I tended to leave the memoria unique to the alternate units on their respective page if only because some units have so many alts or are featured in so many memoria that it would really increase the page length. That said, maybe we should move their memorias to their own page or put it under a collapsible table to help cut down on the page length. If we do it like that, then I would agree that we should include their alt version memorias on their vanilla unit page with the exception of the PAPA units since those guys are basically their own universe and fairly self-contained. [[User:Sondenise|Sondenise]] ([[User talk:Sondenise|talk]]) 01:35, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
:: Now that all the pages use the templates, making memoria lists be collapsed by default is simply a matter of editing the classes into [[Template:Magia Record Memoria Header]], if that's desired. ~ [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]]) 03:46, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
Also, based on this new [[:Category:Magia Record Memoria Cards]] and comparing the count with the other Magia Record wiki, there seems to be one card entirely missing. I have no way to determine which one it could be, though, as the category is sorted by filename and the filenames are all over the place.
: I wonder how we could track it down. If there's a way of tagging or letting me know which ones need to be renamed to their original file names I'm willing to move them all for the sake of uniformity and so we can track down that last memoria and get it up on the site. [[User:Sondenise|Sondenise]] ([[User talk:Sondenise|talk]]) 01:35, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
:: I can't think of any way to track it down other than very carefully checking every memoria on both sites (or here and in another source, if you have access to one). As for renaming them for uniformity, I don't really have a problem with it, but given that moving an image (sometimes? at least when I tried it) appears to break all the pages that use it even if there's a redirect, I'm not planning to volunteer for that task.
:: I ''was'' contemplating adding subcategories for the number of stars the memoria has. That would probably just be a manual process like most of my other efforts (open every page, go through one by one). I don't know if that would help track down whatever's missing, but maybe? ~ [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]]) 03:46, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
::: ...and just now I noticed I misclassified one image, so that means there's actually two missing...? ~ [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]]) 03:51, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
:: I did a little digging on said other wiki. The number of 1-3 star memoria listed there is exactly equal to the number listed here, so anything missing is almost certainly 4 star. I also noticed the other Magia Record wiki lists 5 Taiwan-exclusive memoria while this wiki appears to only have 2, unless I missed something... but I'm not sure how that squares with the other wiki having 744 total where we have 742 total. ~ [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]]) 13:28, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
::::I'm not surprised we're missing some of the Taiwan exclusive memoria since I don't know how to access the files for that server, mostly just the JP one (and NA when that was a thing). If I get a chance to this week, I'll comb through the 4* memos and see if I can track down which one they are. [[User:Sondenise|Sondenise]] ([[User talk:Sondenise|talk]]) 15:52, 12 April 2022 (UTC)

We been working together on the puella wiki for many years now, and I felt you're the ideal candidate to ask, so this is a personal invite to [write for the GamePress MagiReco site](https://magiarecord.gamepress.gg/) that I'm getting ready for the NA Launch.
One last thing: I found three card images that are duplicates. In particular, this one exists in both JPEG and WEBP format for some reason:

Funny enough, I been involved with the Magica fandom even longer than with GamePress. GamePress really was a side project of mine for some mobile games that kind of took off. You can imagine how happy I was about the MagiReco announcement - finally seeing both halves of my life coming together like that!
[[File:Pzib1e3ipjo51.jpg|thumb|left|100px]]<div style="clear:left"></div>
~ [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]]) 20:50, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
:This is probably a case where more than one person uploaded the image and then since it's different formats they didn't get the warning. I can deleted the extra file, just tag any other ones you want me to delete with the deletion tag.

Of course GamePress is going to cover MagiReco!
:On another note entirely, since we now have the "akuma" typing for magireco, would it be possible to write the template so we have like a "|type=other" then put a "|displayname=" where it just displays a name for the typing but it's still categorized as "other"? I think this might take care of the one off types like Nagisa, Nagisa alt, Ult. Madoka-senpai and one or two i've forgotten.
:Thank you very much for you hard work and lemme know what I can do to help. [[User:Sondenise|Sondenise]] ([[User talk:Sondenise|talk]]) 01:35, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
::Actually, I already added that awhile ago (probably around when I converted Ultimate Madoka-senpai to use the template). The key to use a different name for display is "|typedisplay=", and the three units you mentioned already do this if you need an example. And if you want to recategorize those three as "other" instead of "magia" / "support" / "ultimate" respectively then I don't really have a problem with that either. (Those three were the only ones I saw when converting all the pages BTW.) ~ [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]]) 03:46, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
:: I'm not sure if it fits, but I went and filed Akuma Homura as an "Ultimate" type. ~ [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]]) 22:29, 10 April 2022 (UTC)

I was considering a way of making memoria lists easier to work with and tried something experimental with [[:File:Memoria 1390 c.png]] (see how it's linked from other pages). Does this seem like something worth doing for all the memoria cards? The one downside I can see is that it would make it hard to manually sort memoria lists alphabetically… but the automatic sort works for that (apart from not ignoring a leading "the" or "a", which would require either the string manipulation extension or specifying the sort key manually) so I'm not sure how important that is. ~ [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]]) 05:54, 10 May 2022 (UTC)
:Since the auto sorter will still sort them alphabetically, then it wont' be too much of a downside even if it can't ignore some of the leading prepositions. Looking at how you also put the memoria info into the file, is it possible to do this the other way around? In other words, is there a way to reference the memoria info that would be saved with the file image and have it load up onto the character's page without having to recopy the code every time for each character it features? That way we'd only have to write it out once on the image file's page and any subsequent changes would then reflect on other pages where it is referenced? I figure that's probably not doable, but it got me thinking so I just had to ask. As to the original question, if you see value in doing it that way then I don't see why not go for it. As always, thank you immeasurably for all of your hard work. [[User:Sondenise|Sondenise]] ([[User talk:Sondenise|talk]]) 14:14, 10 May 2022 (UTC)
::I'm not quite sure if you're asking about something that I've already done or not…? What I did was cut-and-paste the memoria info onto the File page, so the code looks sort of like this:
::<pre>{{Magia Record Memoria Header}}<onlyinclude>{{Magia Record Memoria Row|...info...}}</onlyinclude>{{Magia Record Memoria Footer}}</pre>
::Then on pages that need to reference that memoria instead of calling <tt><nowiki>{{Magia Record Memoria Row|...info...}}</nowiki></tt>, I call <tt><nowiki>{{File:Memoria Filename.png}}</nowiki></tt>. So, the memoria info is ''only'' on the file page and is included from there into whichever pages want to list that memoria.
::Is that what you were asking for? If that's the case, it's already done for that one sample memoria. If not… I'm not sure ''what'' you're asking for. ~ [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]])
:::Yes! that was exactly what I meant. Sorry, I should have taken a better look at the code but it's finals week so I'm a little crunched for time. But yes, that would work great so we would only have to write the code each time once. Fantastic! [[User:Sondenise|Sondenise]] ([[User talk:Sondenise|talk]]) 13:51, 11 May 2022 (UTC)

What I have in mind for you is to take care of the lore part of the site. You know your stuff, probably as well as anyone else in the international fandom. Who better to ask to write the lore background of every witch and magical girl, and get paid for it?
== Wrong delete ==

So how about it? [[User:Prima|Prima]] ([[User talk:Prima|talk]]) 18:04, 4 June 2019 (UTC)
You just deleted [[:File:S1E7 Ikumi 2.png]] which wasn't on the delete request list (the request was to delete the redirect since I first uploaded it to the wrong name). : Ah, my bad. The deletion request also flagged the image and not just the redirect. There's no way to undelete an image so if you could please re-upload it I'd appreciate it. [[User:Sondenise|Sondenise]] ([[User talk:Sondenise|talk]]) 22:17, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
:: I sort of thought that might be an issue, which is why I edited [[:Category:Deletion requests]] to mention it, but it looks like you either missed that or didn't understand what I meant. ~ [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]]) 22:45, 23 May 2022 (UTC)

Is that a fan-made map or an official one?Cause in S1E2 there's a ground marking in Shinsē Center Station, the color used are different from the map.
Nevertheless, I'd like to know more about why the route goes this way lol.
Thank you for answering:)
: it's an official map, but the colorings are fan-made in order to distinguish the different metro lines. The same anon who colored the map explains some of the reasons for the layout here:

== San's festival ==

:: PPS: the invitation extends to other puella wiki editors as well! I just really want to headhunt Sondenise for obv reasons!
You recently edited [[:File:Memoria 1690 c.png]] to change the name of the festival, which I had already put in some effort to keep consistent throughout the wiki. However, you only changed one of the two instances of the name on that page, and also missed some other instances (see [[Special:Search/hikarizuka|these search results]]). Note that in the case of the redirect, it should probably still exist but redirect to the new correct place and also add a new redirect with the correct name.
:::I'd apply for it too if I could, but I know very little about MagiReco and how to play it exactly other than what's been translated and posted here on the wiki; I don't even have the game myself because I couldn't get it working on my phone for some reason (that and IRL priorities affecting me.) == Magia Record Character Powers ==
I'm not sure which of the two names is ultimately correct and simply guess "Hikarizuka" because from what I could tell it's the more common reading of the actual kanji, but if you have reason to believe that "Mitsuzuka" is more correct, it would be nice to mention the source somewhere on [[San Kagura]]'s page. [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]]) 00:46, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
::Usually when there's some question of ambiguity as to translations I tend to go with [https://magireco.fandom.com/wiki/Mitsuzuka%27s_Soul#English_(Translated) the other site] since they have more dedicated translators on hand who are better at translations than I. If you feel that "Hikarizuka" would be a better translation i.e. a more common reading of the kanji then I'll defer to you and can change it back. [[User:Sondenise|Sondenise]] ([[User talk:Sondenise|talk]]) 05:19, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
:::Just being a "more common" reading isn't necessarily reason to use it. I wanted it to be consistent and couldn't find any documented evidence that 光 could be read as "mutsu" (though "mitsu" is listed among its possible readings on both sites I checked), so I went with the default reading.
:::But there might be some reason I'm not aware of that they chose "Mutsuzuka" instead. My knowledge of Japanese is quite minimal, as well, so it's entirely likely that the other site is better at translating than me. Still, above all else I just think we need to pick one and stick to it. If it's going to be "Mutsuzuka", it should be "Mutsuzuka" everywhere.
:::That said, whichever we choose, I think it's also worthwhile to create redirects using the alternate choice as well. [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]]) 01:02, 4 January 2023 (UTC)
:::Apparently I was confused when I made that last comment, for "mutsu" never seems to have been suggested (unless there were a few elsewhere that I edited out?) and what you actually changed it to was "mitsu". This is a nanori reading, so it's definitely valid as a reading. Still, I would prefer to see something cited to back it up, such as a voice line, and more importantly, if it's to be changed in one place it should be changed everywhere. Do you know if San mentions the festival in any of her voice lines? I recall checking her side story lines and the lines at the end of Dependence Blue without any luck, but I'm sure there's still many places I've missed… ~ [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]]) 06:19, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
:::Aaand then I just started watching arc 2 chapter 5, and Miyuri clearly says "Hikarizuka", not "Mitsuzuka", so I guess that decides it. ~ [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]]) 00:39, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
:::You seem to be changing them to Mitsuzuka again, but as noted above, I think that's incorrect? Unless the above somehow doesn't prove it. ~ [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]]) 15:42, 30 September 2023 (UTC)
::::I completely forgot about that. I probably need to go back and change them all to Hikarizuka. That was my bad. I was on automatic with updating the memoria. [[User:Sondenise|Sondenise]] ([[User talk:Sondenise|talk]]) 15:45, 30 September 2023 (UTC)

So, I've noticed that a lot of the characters from Magia Record have been given powers stemming from their wishes (Ren Isuzu and Kako Natsume, for example), despite them not being explained in the main story or, to my knowledge, any personal stories. There are some exceptions, like Nanaka Tokiwa and Meiyui Chun, but I'm clueless about the rest.
== Possible Missing Memoria? ==
Hello there. I noticed that the personal Memoria for [[Yachiyo Nanami (Fairy Tale ver.)]] is missing. I was curious about its absence, and had a little look through here. Maybe this is one of those cards that you guys were missing and trying to look for?
I would’ve added it in myself, but I don’t know how and I’m scared I’ll mess things up.

I've seen these powers listed on other wikis, typically those focused on characters with superpowers and powers specifically, with the same wording used on this wiki - but without sources, it all feels like unsupported guesswork (which is supported by this wiki using the same language as the others, which makes me think those wikis created headcanons that someone copied and pasted here).

The amount of references to ''Night on the Galactic Railroad'' and the rest of Kenji's works in Magia Record are kind of making me crazy. I just want to make a separate page of literature references in Magia Record in general by now. --NepetaLeijon27 07:53, 13 January 2020 (UTC)

Go for it! I agree, it is a lot of references. I'll add to it as needed. : I think I've mostly finished what I should do about the [[Kenji Miyazawa and Magia Record]] (although I can still add some information). By the way, is it possible to add the same Headnote message as [[Speculah:Madoka Magica and Faust]], "This article is a fan-made analysis. Please do not treat it as official material." , in this page ? The relationship between Magia Record and Kenji Miyazawa is not entirely certain, although some of it is clear. It seems to be the same as the relationship between Madoka Magica and Faust. We can either add a text to the page that gives a warning at the top that it is speculation or we can move it to a speculah page (we would not have to change the links on the other pages since the redirect will take care of that). Either way I believe you are correct in that it should have a warning tag at the top at this point. [[User:Sondenise|Sondenise]] ([[User talk:Sondenise|talk]]) 01:26, 5 November 2020 (UTC)

You can also see what extensions are installed on this site at [[Special:Version]]. ~ [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]]) 02:53, 10 March 2023 (UTC)

Given that the anime now exists, and all the significant changes to both the plot and characterizations (like Yachiyo not testing Iroha or being so offensively against her coming to Kamihama, or the much smoother relationship between Yachiyo and Momoko), I think it's worth making separate pages for the anime versions of the Magia Record cast, and rename their game pages in line with those of the other canon characters (eg. "Madoka Kaname in Magia Record"). This will allow us to cover the differences in their personalities and the plot in general. --[[User:Garr9988|Garr9988]] ([[User talk:Garr9988|talk]]) 03:59, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
== Incorrect deletion ==

It's either that or append each character page to include "in the anime" the same way the character pages for the original quintet are setup. For example, Madoka has a single character page that has a different section for each media format since a lot of her biography info would be redundant. A section for wraith arc, rebellion, the PSP game, etc
At some point it seems you accidentally deleted [[:File:Oriko MRA24.png]] instead of the redirect page that was requested for deletion. Is there a way for you to undelete it? ~ [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]]) 05:11, 12 July 2023 (UTC)

I would get the pages going but I am swamped just trying to keep up with the basic anime episode pages and the game itself. But if you feel up to the task then create the pages and I'll help setup the section under characters[[User:Sondenise|Sondenise]] ([[User talk:Sondenise|talk]]) 07:41, 26 January 2020 (UTC)

==On adding the illustrators of the characters==
Hey Sondenise, so I've seen that some of the meguca pages don't have their illustrator listed. Would it be revelant to add them? Just asking before I make a mistake. boop Anon 02:53, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
:Yeah, it's been a little hard to keep up with them. If you could add them to the character pages I'd really appreciate it. And don't be scared to make changes. Just go for it! I tend to review all changes to the site and so long as it's a constructive change it's all good. == Magia Record merch page ==
I was clearing up duplicates of the Mobage cards by moving them to use a consistent naming format, and I discovered two where the target name already existed but at a lower resolution, although the source has a higher resolution than the vast majority of these card images for some reason I can't fathom. What I was wondering is whether you could move the higher-resolution one to overwrite the lower-resolution one with the MobageNNNN.jpg name? ~ [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]]) 02:38, 4 August 2023 (UTC)

Hello, I've been thinking of editing Magia Record's merchandise page to be more in line with Madoka's. Part of it is for consistency's sake and another part is because Record's page is already growing rather hard to navigate, with almost everything crammed into the 'merchandise' section with tiny pictures (the name also seems kind of redundant for a merchandise page). I'd also need to move some things to other galleries, such as the poster for the upcoming Alina figure and the illustrations Fujino uploaded to their twitter.
Here's a weird case. The first image is ''almost'' a combination of the second two. However, the framing is different in one of the separated cards. I'm not sure what to do with this one. ~ [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]]) 03:27, 4 August 2023 (UTC)

Before I begin the work, I'd like to hear your opinion. Do you think it's a good idea? Technically I'd be changing it from a gallery to a product page, but I think the pictures would actually look better with the latter's format, with bigger images, more spacing and divided into more categories. It'd also be more convenient to anybody who'd want to order the products, obviously.
<gallery>
File:Mobage Hanagasumi Mami 01.jpg
File:Mobage4061.webp
File:Mobage4062.webp
</gallery>

I also have a question how how to organize the page. Do you think I should add the things that would normally go in the product page too? Magireco has an unusually high amount of products for an spinoff. Off the top of my head, there's the anime blurays, their booklets, the animation notes, two soundtracks, one short audio drama, the magia archives, two mangas, the play DVD... It might be better to give it its own section within a Magireco page. After all, the products page is already so big that the contents table takes up the whole screen. --[[User:Arei|Arei]] ([[User talk:Arei|talk]]) 21:09, 25 October 2020 (UTC)
== Tokime Clan ==

:I am a big proponent of consistency but I have not had the time or energy to fix the merchandise page for MagiReco. I'll admit, I'm surprised by how much merchandise they have for being a spin-off mobile game (not counting all the other merch that appeared after the anime aired). I believe it's a great idea to move things around and make them more accessible to people, easier to see the pages and have other categories for other items (such as the blue ray box sets, figures, posters, and other items that were only for promotional events like the ichi curry cafe.
Does it really make sense to delete the redirects? It means that someone who types "Tokime Clan Tale" into the search box no longer gets sent to the correct page. ~ [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]]) 17:36, 5 August 2023 (UTC)

:If you'd like to give it it's own section, please by all means. Let me know how I can help you with this (such as moving pages, making redirects, setting up new pages for you to edit) or whatever else I can do to help. If you feel that some of the character pages have too much going on (like I know Felicia's character page is getting a little big long what with all the memorias and items she features in, so we can always put a link that goes to a "extended gallery page" for her the way we did for Iroha to cut the page down and not make it so long). So please feel free to do so as well if you feel it would be beneficial for the pages. I would really appreciate your doing all of this and I'm sure it'll come out great when you're done ^^. == Magia Record Skill Icons ==

Thanks for your support! I'm trying to decide if I want to group all lottery prizes together or classify them according to which kind of item they are. On one hand, the Madoka page puts them all under "special", and that does make the page neater by having one table per lottery. On the other hand, it means mixing all kinds of different products under a single non-descriptive title, and the category itself doesn't have a very intuitive name. What do you think?
I'm still waiting a finally response on [[Talk:Puella_Magi_Madoka_Magica_Side_Story:_Magia_Record#Should_we_start_an_english_menu/gameplay_guide_on_this_wiki?|my question]] from earlier. Also, I seem to be [[Talk:Magia Record Skills and Status Effects|missing some skill icons]], so I wondered if you have the rest. I can copy them from the other wiki, but I built everything under the assumption that the icon images were uniformly named with an ID, and the other wiki doesn't have that ID. ~ [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]]) 02:54, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
::Go ahead and skip the doppel icon (since it only serves aesthetic purposes and doesn't tell the player anything about the attack) and keep the ex skill icon please. However, it requires editing [[Mediawiki:Common.css]], which naturally I don't have access to, so could I request that you add the following code there?

This is not really related, but since you mentioned moving pages, how about getting rid of the Grief Seed->Glossary redirect? Most people who frequent this wiki already have the basic concepts down, and it hides the page listing all known grief seeds. --[[User:Arei|Arei]] ([[User talk:Arei|talk]]) 03:04, 27 October 2020 (UTC)

:Done. I deleted the redirect to the Glossary so [[Grief Seeds]] should be a good to go. As far as the merchandise goes, maybe it depends on the item? By lottery I'm assuming you mean crane game exclusive items (Banpresto Prizes) and Gachapons. If it's something that you can only get through those means, then they should go under special. It would also be good to put the cafe exclusive merch and other popup shop events under there since there's not too much products for each of those. Unless we start getting a ridiculous number of popup / one-time event stores then maybe we can give them their own page. I know what you mean though, there's T-shirts, figures, clocks and all sorts of other things that could easily go on both pages. But if it's one time items it should go under "Special" and if it's readily available through a store by regular means then it should be under one of the more specific headers on the Merchandise page. It's an idea but you don't have to do it that way if you feel another way would be best (like grouping all the figures on one page and indicating how they're obtained / manufacturer etc). I think I'll go with the usual format for gacha stuff, thanks for the input. Do you know if surprise boxes go under gachapon? I mean the ones where you order, say, a keychain but until you open it you don't know for which character it is.
:I'm now wondering if I should redo the whole spirit enhancement listing so I can squeeze in the effect name (usually something like Bloom Adept or whatever, but it seems to be arbitrary). Does that seem worthwhile? The only problem is that it might be difficult to do in a way that doesn't break all the current ones… (There's nothing like that in connect or magia or doppel or EX skill, I hope…?) ~ [[User:Celtic Minstrel|Celtic Minstrel]] ([[User talk:Celtic Minstrel|talk]]) 03:07, 11 August 2023 (UTC)
:Only if you want to, but it doesn't seem worth it to me. Not if it's going to be difficult, and besides which I personally have never cared about the decorative ability names. They just seem like unnecessary flavor text. I mean yeah, if you want to memorize the name given to each random combination of abilities but *shrug*. Doesn't really do much information wise. ::Some of the ones on PAPA memoria do seem to be intended as humour. I'm not sure if that applies to PAPA units too but I wouldn't be surprised. I think the café events and such are okay in the events gallery. The thing is that lots of that stuff was never for sale or you can't get it anymore even through resellers (like standees and food), so there's not much to say beyond showing the pictures.

I'm trying to add some Rebellion merch, but I'm not sure how to translate the name. It's called 魔女こっとマスコット. The first word is witch and the last one is mascot, but I'm not sure about what's in the middle. Some sites translate it as cot but I'm pretty sure that's machine-translated. Do you know what it means? --[[User:Arei|Arei]] ([[User talk:Arei|talk]]) 03:28, 28 October 2020 (UTC)
I saw that you have your own original character(unofficial but still super cool!), is anyone on this site able to make an OC like that...? Also, did you draw the character, because it's super cute! [[User:ReiAyanami|ReiAyanami]] ([[User talk:ReiAyanami|talk]]) 14:13, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
:You can do whatever you want with your personal page (that's why I hardcoded a lot of mine so it wouldn't accidentally get mixed into the real characters). Some editors have their own OC witches on their page even. I designed the character but I commissioned Masugitsune to draw it for me. If you're interested, I have my own drawings on my twitter (sondenise1).[[User:Sondenise|Sondenise]] ([[User talk:Sondenise|talk]]) 19:42, 1 November 2023 (UTC)

:I mean, they're not technically Gachapon since they didn't come from a machine that you put quarters into, but then again they're blind boxes. I guess put them under figures and then indicate in the description text that they are randomly boxed (aka blind figures). As for 魔女こっとマスコット, I know that こと makes a verb into a noun. Kind of like when you add "ly" to the end of a verb and make it into an adverb, こと functions in a similar same way. So it would be something like "Witchly Mascot" is how that would be translated. == Transliteration ==

I'm having some trouble with the page's formatting. For example, everything between the first Ichiban Kuji lottery's gallery until the UFO catcher plushies isn't showing up, and the table for Ren's figure isn't being processed. Actually, all the tables are a bit wrong; they don't have lines, the images are in the wrong place and I'm not sure how to make the link part at the bottom disappear. I posted what I have in my talk page, could you take a look? (It's still a work in progress so there's still stuff like notes and placeholder images) --[[User:Arei|Arei]] ([[User talk:Arei|talk]]) 05:53, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
Could I ask why you dont like transliteration? As far as I know it isnt doing anything wrong. [[User:Amaterasu|Amaterasu]] ([[User talk:Amaterasu|talk]]) 17:54, 1 December 2023 (UTC)
:An addition (or rather, rewording) to this: Why do you allow transliteration on some pages but not others? [[Leila Ibuki]]'s page has transliteration, but you dont want it on [[Livia]]'s? [[User:Amaterasu|Amaterasu]] ([[User talk:Amaterasu|talk]]) 18:02, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

::Ok [[User:Arei|Arei]], I managed to fix the coding on the tables page. As far as I can see, the major problem is that you need to make sure to add the Merchandise/Header and then Merchandise/Footer at the beginning and end of each header section. So if you do lottery, add those two tags to the beginning and end. then start a new header section '===xx===' and then add the two tags again. Also, try not to add more than one link. I noticed that you copied the template and would put the |link= with a url in the middle and then you would again have the |link= later in the same subsection. This is what was probably giving your page a headache since it didn't know which one to reference and would default to the first link Also also, even if you don't have a link, make sure to leave a blank \link= in the table or else it will make assumptions and grab the next piece of text as a link even if it's just closing brackets.
It's not that there's anything wrong, it's just not always an accurate translation given the limitations of the two languages, especially when it comes to names/words that aren't native to Japanese language. For example, stating Ashley's name as "Ashurii Teiraa" isn't correct because her name is English in origin. it's not actually pronounced "ah shoe ree ee tay rah", it's pronounced "ash lee tay ler" which is very different, and the katakana they chose (アシュリー・テイラー) is the closest approximation to it, but not an exact transliteration either. Same for Livia being transliterated to Ribia. That's not how her name is actually pronounced but because of the limits of the "v" sound in Japanese they used the closest approximation which is a "b". Or Melissa de Vignolles having the katakana "ド" (do) when it is clearly spelled "de" because phonetically that is the closest to sounding the way it would be pronounced, not because that's how it's spelled.
Just like how in English 杏子 can be written as: Kyōko, Kyoko, or Kyouko. All three are correct, but the first and second are the most accurate in terms of the way it would be pronounced as it is written in English, while the third is a transliteration that, when read as it is written in English, is pronounced slightly differently. I'm not against transliterations for Japanese native names, but for the foreign ones it doesn't make sense to me.

If you can keep it to this format like before then it should be good. I'll leave it here for you to copy and use as a template and see if that doesn't make it easier for you. Keep up the great work!! [[User:Sondenise|Sondenise]] ([[User talk:Sondenise|talk]]) 15:19, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
As for Leila, we had her originally as "Reira" until the NA server came out and then we changed it to "Leila" for the sake of consistency. But because she's Japanese we kept the transliteration because that is how it would have been pronounced otherwise. Technically both are correct here as well for that reason. == Uwasa in Anime ==

Although it may be related to the above-mention, I found that there are remarkably little information about the Uwasa in the anime. For example, there is almost no mention about J.A. Caesar and his troupe, who worked with Doroinu to design the Uwasa in the anime. Also, there are screenshots of the anime, but the captions that were changed in the anime seems to be missing as well. I can make up for some of this information (though I'm a poor translator), but I'm struggling with how to add the information due to the volume and layout. Do you have any good ideas ? --[[User:Mokyubacky|Mokyubacky]] ([[User talk:Mokyubacky|talk]]) 19:59, 26 October 2020 (UTC)

:In regards to changed anime scenes, we can add those to the main page for the episode in it's own section. Something like "==Gallery== -> ===Blue-Ray Changes===" just give it another header for the images. For the description of the changes we can put it under observations (you can add another header if you feel it is necessary). There is also a page for [[Uwasa Anime Screenshots]] if you feel it would be better to put the images there also.

:For additional information on the Uwasa, like J.A. Caesar and others that helped to design them, we can put that under the page for Uwasa. It can be "1. Characteristics 2. Design 3. Major Uwasa 4. Trivia 5. Gallery 6. See Also" Then you can add all the information for it there. If it is trivia about a specific Uwasa, then it can go under the picture similar to the layout for this page [[Kazumi Magica Witches]]. Something similar might be good?

:I hope the way I describe what I was thinking was not too confusing for you. These are just ideas though and if you think there is a better way then please go ahead and make changes how you think is best (even if they are big changes). If you think it is more information than will fit on one page comfortably then we can always make a new page and link to it. [[User:Sondenise|Sondenise]] ([[User talk:Sondenise|talk]]) 20:07, 26 October 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for your advice! About Uwasa, there are the monsters Uwasa and the magical stories Rumor. Since it is Rumor that has been changed with the anime, it may be inconsistent and inappropriate to add that information to an article about Uwasa. So, for now, I'll try to reflect the information regarding the Rumor changes on the individual anime episode pages.
By the way, I personally think it might be preferable to split up the Major Uwasa pages similar to the individual Witch pages. This would allow for additional caption changes for Rumor, and would also allow for explanations that are not about Uwasa, but belong to Rumor, for example Uwasa barrier. Is this possible?--[[User:Mokyubacky|Mokyubacky]] ([[User talk:Mokyubacky|talk]]) 22:54, 27 October 2020 (UTC)

:I see now what you mean. You were referring to the Rumor stories and not just the individual creatures. It would be better to put those on the individual episode pages since it is specific to the anime. You can put it under trivia or you can make a new section and call it "Changes from the Game" or something else. A new section for differences would be good since there are other changes to the story besides the Rumors and Uwasa.

:Splitting up the Uwasa page would be a good idea since the page is getting long and hard to navigate. I will get to it when I have time later in the week. [[User:Sondenise|Sondenise]] ([[User talk:Sondenise|talk]]) 00:25, 28 October 2020 (UTC)

== Mobcast game ==

Hello, some time ago [https://games.mobcast.co.jp/en/news/press-release/2016-12-22/ I learnt about a China-exclusive Madoka game.] I've been gathering pictures of it to add to galleries, but I'm not sure what I should file it under, the name is pretty generic. I considered making a page for it, but since all the info is in Chinese I'd need to use Google translate, which is less than ideal. There's not that much data either, so it might be a relatively small article. I think the latter problem, at least, could be solved by putting Heart-pounding Tiro Finale and the Madoka app from the Portable page and making an "assorted official games" page. They do look a bit out of place in Portable's page.

== About Yukika's abillities ==

Yukika doesn't have teleportation abilities. What happened in her event was due to Rion's wish retconning the timeline and shoving her back in time to before she left her school. It's also not clear that only she can solve the issues her wishes guides her to; it seems to be the case in Otsukimi, but that could be the effects of Rion's wish. After all, in the first timeline Yukika's wish didn't make her discover the witch, so it just stayed alive and killed people. Therefore, it seems more likely that the actual reason she was so well-placed to stop Hotori's death was because of Rion, not herself.--[[User:AlsoArei|AlsoArei]] ([[User talk:AlsoArei|talk]]) 17:52, 7 December 2020 (UTC)

:I can understand where you are coming from, but one of those images was Haruka wearing Chisato's unaltered magical girl outfit. Other characters wear swimsuits that are just as revealing (such as Hinano and Kyoko to name a few). Fanart isn't allowed but art from the official character designers is. Other characters have much more revealing outfits officially (such as Himika and Leila with their panty-like costume bits) so its seems to me a bit hypocritical to censor one or the other in that regards. What about Livia whose nipples are clearly visible in her official card art? I beleive that if the images don't directly show any body parts (nipples or genitalia) then it should be allowed.  [[User:Sondenise|Sondenise]] ([[User talk:Sondenise|talk]]) 18:02, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
::The art that's being deleted isn't of official game status, it may be from the official character designers but it isn't in game, nor anime, or of any sort of advertising use, its technically fanart even if the character is designed by the artist themselves, but also, most of the characters design are sexual in nature which is very disgusting, but since its in game, we cannot remove those. Also I cannot understand your want for these images, if you want to look at them, save them to your own computer. And with the image of Haruka, she is blushing and sweating in a sexual way with part of her crotch exposed. The pictures of Kokoro are simply disgusting, she is 15. May I remind you she is 15 and her breasts and rear are being highlighted thoroughly in these non canon or official images. And the image of Sudachi is disgusting and non consensual, do you truly believe that kind of thing is alright? I cannot understand your want for such disgusting content, you are supporting pedophilia. [[User:DreamerWitches|DreamerWitches]] ([[User talk:DreamerWitches|talk]]) 18:15, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
::By your same argument, ALL the images of Haruka that weren't in the manga should be deleted. ALL images of Kokoro that weren't in the game should be deleted. Since Hinano is 18, does that mean the exact same art and poses would be ok so long as it depicts her even though she's drawn to be short and appear younger than her age? I am not going to start cherry picking art from the official character designers just because someone doesn't necessarily agree with them. That is censoring the artists and I am opposed to infringing on freedom of expression like that. Is it supporting hebephilia if we allow the entire character page for Iroha-Yachiyo just because of the age gap? Do we automatically support incest just because the Amane twins have a duo unit? I'm not going to impose my personal views like that whether or not I agree with it. Fanservice is a part of this game and can be evidenced in several of the characters, not just in their designs but in their transformation videos. Why are the nude silhouettes ok and not art where a character is fully clothed? To censor one and allow the other is hypocritical. I'm sorry if your personal views conflict with the content of the game but I am opposed to personally choosing what art is considered safe by one person and not by another so long as genitalia and nipples aren't shown. If I'm Muslim and I personally believe that no part of a woman's body should be shown in public, does that give me the right to impose my views on others? No, it does not. See this article for a similar viewpoint [https://journal.neilgaiman.com/2008/12/why-defend-freedom-of-icky-speech.html?m=1] [[User:Sondenise|Sondenise]] ([[User talk:Sondenise|talk]]) 19:04, 10 January 2021 (UTC)

How about we put questionable images inside a table that you have to click to open? That way, those who don't want to see fanservicey pictures can avoid them, while still having as much official artwork as possible available --[[User:AlsoArei|AlsoArei]] ([[User talk:AlsoArei|talk]]) 19:12, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
::I can agree with this. Im not opposed to putting the art under "spoiler" tags rather than deleting it outright. Haruka's page is not about the character in game but about the character herself, as such every piece of art of her from a relevant source is relevant. manga and game are good source, but so is the designer who created her art for the games and manga. [[User:Sondenise|Sondenise]] ([[User talk:Sondenise|talk]]) 19:22, 10 January 2021 (UTC)

Well, I'd say the crux of the matter isn't the really the canonicity or not of certain official images, but rather the sexualization of the characters. So I think that rather than sticking a blanket warning on all images that don't come from the original material, we should only include the less wholesome ones and change the warning to refer to that. --[[User:AlsoArei|AlsoArei]] ([[User talk:AlsoArei|talk]]) 20:15, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
:Personally, I can see an exception being made for images that are pretty objectly sexualised (some images of Haruka come to mind), since that sexualization is pretty apparent. A wiki for a non-pornographic media like PM should, as best it can, remain gen-rated, for the sake of decency or any underage people that visit the wiki. Non-sexualised non-canon art from artists and such should still be allowed on the wiki, of course. I think that might be best for all parties, especially since there have now been rather extreme accusations being publically made toward a user here.--[[User:Garr9988|Garr9988]] ([[User talk:Garr9988|talk]]) 17:06, 13 January 2021 (UTC)

Why was the page Mami's mammies deleted?

Hi there, I am not sure if this is the correct place to ask this. Sometimes I go to the Mami's mammies to grab some images to use or just to link to it as a joke in the /r/MadokaMagica Discord Server for newer people that don't know it exists. Except this time when I checked I saw that it was deleted by you, was there a specific reason for this? I, and others, thought it was quite a funny meme in the community so it would be a bit sad to see it go from the wiki after all these years.

Greetings,

Mhykol (you can also contact me on Discord: Mhykol Eclipsed#2024 or just in the MadokaMagica Discord server)

Hello there. Memoria cards

I was noticing some cases where a memoria card contains a particular character, but that character's page does not reference the memoria card, so I was thinking of going through to track down all such cases that I can find. However, before I can do that, I have a few questions...

  1. Is there some logic to how memoria cards are ordered on a character's page? Is it just alphabetical by name? ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 20:50, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
    I try to sort them by alphabetical order. Sondenise (talk) 01:35, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
  2. What's the best way to deal with alternate versions of characters, and dual units?
    Should a memoria featuring swimsuit Iroha be included on Iroha's main page?
    Should a memoria featuring Holy Mami be included on Mami's main page?
    Should a memoria featuring Rumour Tsuruno be featured on Tsuruno's main page?
    Should a memoria featuring Iroha-chan be featured on Iroha's main page?
    Should a memoria featuring Delivery Girl Felicia be featured on Felicia's main page?
    Should a memoria featuring Ultimate Madoka be featured on Madoka's main page?
    Should a memoria featuring doppel Kyouko be featured on Kyouko's main page?
    I imagine this is a complex question... my instinct would suggest the answer be "no" in the case of Iroha-chan or Ultimate Madoka but "yes" in most of the other cases. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 20:50, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
Originally I tended to leave the memoria unique to the alternate units on their respective page if only because some units have so many alts or are featured in so many memoria that it would really increase the page length. Sondenise (talk) 01:35, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
Now that all the pages use the templates, making memoria lists be collapsed by default is simply a matter of editing the classes into Template:Magia Record Memoria Header, if that's desired. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 03:46, 10 April 2022 (UTC)

Also, based on this new Category:Magia Record Memoria Cards and comparing the count with the other Magia Record wiki, there seems to be one card entirely missing. I have no way to determine which one it could be, though, as the category is sorted by filename and the filenames are all over the place.

I wonder how we could track it down. If there's a way of tagging or letting me know which ones need to be renamed to their original file names I'm willing to move them all for the sake of uniformity and so we can track down that last memoria and get it up on the site. Sondenise (talk) 01:35, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
I can't think of any way to track it down other than very carefully checking every memoria on both sites (or here and in another source, if you have access to one). As for renaming them for uniformity, I don't really have a problem with it, but given that moving an image (sometimes? at least when I tried it) appears to break all the pages that use it even if there's a redirect, I'm not planning to volunteer for that task.
I was contemplating adding subcategories for the number of stars the memoria has. That would probably just be a manual process like most of my other efforts (open every page, go through one by one). I don't know if that would help track down whatever's missing, but maybe? ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 03:46, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
...and just now I noticed I misclassified one image, so that means there's actually two missing...? ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 03:51, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
I did a little digging on said other wiki. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 13:28, 12 April 2022 (UTC)
I'm not surprised we're missing some of the Taiwan exclusive memoria since I don't know how to access the files for that server, mostly just the JP one (and NA when that was a thing). If I get a chance to this week, I'll comb through the 4* memos and see if I can track down which one they are. Sondenise (talk) 15:52, 12 April 2022 (UTC)

One last thing: I found three card images that are duplicates. In particular, this one exists in both JPEG and WEBP format for some reason:

Pzib1e3ipjo51.jpg

~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 20:50, 9 April 2022 (UTC)

This is probably a case where more than one person uploaded the image and then since it's different formats they didn't get the warning. I can deleted the extra file, just tag any other ones you want me to delete with the deletion tag.
On another note entirely, since we now have the "akuma" typing for magireco, would it be possible to write the template so we have like a "|type=other" then put a "|displayname=" where it just displays a name for the typing but it's still categorized as "other"? I think this might take care of the one off types like Nagisa, Nagisa alt, Ult. Madoka-senpai and one or two i've forgotten.
Thank you very much for you hard work and lemme know what I can do to help. Sondenise (talk) 01:35, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
Actually, I already added that awhile ago (probably around when I converted Ultimate Madoka-senpai to use the template). The key to use a different name for display is "|typedisplay=", and the three units you mentioned already do this if you need an example. And if you want to recategorize those three as "other" instead of "magia" / "support" / "ultimate" respectively then I don't really have a problem with that either. (Those three were the only ones I saw when converting all the pages BTW.) ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 03:46, 10 April 2022 (UTC)
I'm not sure if it fits, but I went and filed Akuma Homura as an "Ultimate" type. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 22:29, 10 April 2022 (UTC)

I was considering a way of making memoria lists easier to work with and tried something experimental with File:Memoria 1390 c.png (see how it's linked from other pages). ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 05:54, 10 May 2022 (UTC)

Since the auto sorter will still sort them alphabetically, then it wont' be too much of a downside even if it can't ignore some of the leading prepositions. Sondenise (talk) 14:14, 10 May 2022 (UTC)
I'm not quite sure if you're asking about something that I've already done or not…? What I did was cut-and-paste the memoria info onto the File page, so the code looks sort of like this:
{{Magia Record Memoria Header}}<onlyinclude>{{Magia Record Memoria Row|...info...}}</onlyinclude>{{Magia Record Memoria Footer}}
Then on pages that need to reference that memoria instead of calling {{Magia Record Memoria Row|...info...}}, I call {{File:Memoria Filename.png}}. So, the memoria info is only on the file page and is included from there into whichever pages want to list that memoria.
Is that what you were asking for? If that's the case, it's already done for that one sample memoria. If not… I'm not sure what you're asking for. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk)
Yes! that was exactly what I meant. Sorry, I should have taken a better look at the code but it's finals week so I'm a little crunched for time. But yes, that would work great so we would only have to write the code each time once. Fantastic! Sondenise (talk) 13:51, 11 May 2022 (UTC)

Wrong delete

You just deleted File:S1E7 Ikumi 2.png which wasn't on the delete request list (the request was to delete the redirect since I first uploaded it to the wrong name). Is there an easy undelete button? I can of course re-upload it if there isn't… ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 19:41, 23 May 2022 (UTC)

Ah, my bad. The deletion request also flagged the image and not just the redirect. There's no way to undelete an image so if you could please re-upload it I'd appreciate it. Sondenise (talk) 22:17, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
I sort of thought that might be an issue, which is why I edited Category:Deletion requests to mention it, but it looks like you either missed that or didn't understand what I meant. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 22:45, 23 May 2022 (UTC)

About the metro map

Is that a fan-made map or an official one?Cause in S1E2 there's a ground marking in Shinsē Center Station, the color used are different from the map. Nevertheless, I'd like to know more about why the route goes this way lol. Thank you for answering:)

it's an official map, but the colorings are fan-made in order to distinguish the different metro lines. The same anon who colored the map explains some of the reasons for the layout here:

Kamihama metro explanation.JPG

San's festival

You recently edited File:Memoria 1690 c.png to change the name of the festival, which I had already put in some effort to keep consistent throughout the wiki. However, you only changed one of the two instances of the name on that page, and also missed some other instances (see these search results). Note that in the case of the redirect, it should probably still exist but redirect to the new correct place and also add a new redirect with the correct name.

I'm not sure which of the two names is ultimately correct and simply guess "Hikarizuka" because from what I could tell it's the more common reading of the actual kanji, but if you have reason to believe that "Mitsuzuka" is more correct, it would be nice to mention the source somewhere on San Kagura's page. Celtic Minstrel (talk) 00:46, 1 January 2023 (UTC)

Usually when there's some question of ambiguity as to translations I tend to go with the other site since they have more dedicated translators on hand who are better at translations than I. If you feel that "Hikarizuka" would be a better translation i.e. a more common reading of the kanji then I'll defer to you and can change it back. Sondenise (talk) 05:19, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
Just being a "more common" reading isn't necessarily reason to use it. I wanted it to be consistent and couldn't find any documented evidence that 光 could be read as "mutsu" (though "mitsu" is listed among its possible readings on both sites I checked), so I went with the default reading.
But there might be some reason I'm not aware of that they chose "Mutsuzuka" instead. My knowledge of Japanese is quite minimal, as well, so it's entirely likely that the other site is better at translating than me. Still, above all else I just think we need to pick one and stick to it. If it's going to be "Mutsuzuka", it should be "Mutsuzuka" everywhere.
That said, whichever we choose, I think it's also worthwhile to create redirects using the alternate choice as well. Celtic Minstrel (talk) 01:02, 4 January 2023 (UTC)
Apparently I was confused when I made that last comment, for "mutsu" never seems to have been suggested (unless there were a few elsewhere that I edited out?) and what you actually changed it to was "mitsu". This is a nanori reading, so it's definitely valid as a reading. Still, I would prefer to see something cited to back it up, such as a voice line, and more importantly, if it's to be changed in one place it should be changed everywhere. Do you know if San mentions the festival in any of her voice lines? I recall checking her side story lines and the lines at the end of Dependence Blue without any luck, but I'm sure there's still many places I've missed… ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 06:19, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
Aaand then I just started watching arc 2 chapter 5, and Miyuri clearly says "Hikarizuka", not "Mitsuzuka", so I guess that decides it. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 00:39, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
You seem to be changing them to Mitsuzuka again, but as noted above, I think that's incorrect? Unless the above somehow doesn't prove it. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 15:42, 30 September 2023 (UTC)
I completely forgot about that. I probably need to go back and change them all to Hikarizuka. That was my bad. I was on automatic with updating the memoria. Sondenise (talk) 15:45, 30 September 2023 (UTC)

Possible Missing Memoria?

Hello there. I noticed that the personal Memoria for Yachiyo Nanami (Fairy Tale ver.) is missing. I was curious about its absence, and had a little look through here. Maybe this is one of those cards that you guys were missing and trying to look for? I would’ve added it in myself, but I don’t know how and I’m scared I’ll mess things up.

Merry Christmas to You Who Works So Hard.webp

I’ll just leave the picture and its info here to save you the trouble if it is actually one of the missing ones.

I hope this helps. Have a good one. TigerEye81 (talk) February 6 2023

Thank you very much! Actually I did have it up, I just forgot to link it to Yachiyo Fairy Tale's page (I had it under Felicia since she's the one holding the cake, but like I said, I totally forgot to add the link to yachiyo as well.) Thanks again for the heads up! Sondenise (talk) 15:01, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

Changing Username?

Just a general question, is it possible to change usernames on this wiki? I tried Googling for myself, but since this is just "wiki.(name).net", as opposed to something like FANDOM or Wikipedia specifically, I can't find an answer applicable to this site. --Garr9988 (talk) 02:16, 10 March 2023 (UTC)

I don't know the answer, but it can presumably be found on MediaWiki.org somewhere. You can also see what extensions are installed on this site at Special:Version. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 02:53, 10 March 2023 (UTC)

Incorrect deletion

At some point it seems you accidentally deleted File:Oriko MRA24.png instead of the redirect page that was requested for deletion. Is there a way for you to undelete it? ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 05:11, 12 July 2023 (UTC)

Delete/move?

I was clearing up duplicates of the Mobage cards by moving them to use a consistent naming format, and I discovered two where the target name already existed but at a lower resolution, although the source has a higher resolution than the vast majority of these card images for some reason I can't fathom. What I was wondering is whether you could move the higher-resolution one to overwrite the lower-resolution one with the MobageNNNN.jpg name? ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 02:38, 4 August 2023 (UTC)

Here's a weird case. The first image is almost a combination of the second two. However, the framing is different in one of the separated cards. I'm not sure what to do with this one. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 03:27, 4 August 2023 (UTC)

Tokime Clan

Does it really make sense to delete the redirects? It means that someone who types "Tokime Clan Tale" into the search box no longer gets sent to the correct page. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 17:36, 5 August 2023 (UTC)

Magia Record Skill Icons

I'm still waiting a finally response on my question from earlier. Also, I seem to be missing some skill icons, so I wondered if you have the rest. I can copy them from the other wiki, but I built everything under the assumption that the icon images were uniformly named with an ID, and the other wiki doesn't have that ID. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 02:54, 9 August 2023 (UTC)

Go ahead and skip the doppel icon (since it only serves aesthetic purposes and doesn't tell the player anything about the attack) and keep the ex skill icon please. I sent you a link to Gamepress for the NA screencaps. I'll see if I can get you the rest of the icons since I have access to the games files. Sondenise (talk) 13:38, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
The Fandom wiki (which is where I'm getting the data from) doesn't include the EX skill icon, so should I guess at it or let you or someone else fill them in later? ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 18:17, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
Skip it for now and we can always go back and add it in for the handful of characters that use it.Sondenise (talk) 22:01, 9 August 2023 (UTC)
I would like to make the Magia Record Skills and Status Effects page highlight the current row in yellow (or any other colour of your choice) when you click an icon on another page to navigate there. However, it requires editing Mediawiki:Common.css, which naturally I don't have access to, so could I request that you add the following code there?
.hilite-target:target {
  background-color: #ffa;
}
Feel free to substitute a different colour if you prefer. My above link to the page goes to a specific icon, so it may be useful for previewing the results. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 05:08, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
No can do, I don't have permissions for that one. I'll email 0x99 about it. Sondenise (talk) 00:56, 11 August 2023 (UTC)
I'm now wondering if I should redo the whole spirit enhancement listing so I can squeeze in the effect name (usually something like Bloom Adept or whatever, but it seems to be arbitrary). Does that seem worthwhile? The only problem is that it might be difficult to do in a way that doesn't break all the current ones… (There's nothing like that in connect or magia or doppel or EX skill, I hope…?) ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 03:07, 11 August 2023 (UTC)
Only if you want to, but it doesn't seem worth it to me. Not if it's going to be difficult, and besides which I personally have never cared about the decorative ability names. They just seem like unnecessary flavor text. I mean yeah, if you want to memorize the name given to each random combination of abilities but *shrug*. Doesn't really do much information wise. Sondenise (talk) 03:49, 11 August 2023 (UTC)
Some of the ones on PAPA memoria do seem to be intended as humour. I'm not sure if that applies to PAPA units too but I wouldn't be surprised. Guess I'll think about how difficult it'll be and only do it if it's not too difficult. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 04:05, 11 August 2023 (UTC)

Sister Units

I saw that you have your own original character(unofficial but still super cool!), is anyone on this site able to make an OC like that...? Also, did you draw the character, because it's super cute! ReiAyanami (talk) 14:13, 1 November 2023 (UTC)

You can do whatever you want with your personal page (that's why I hardcoded a lot of mine so it wouldn't accidentally get mixed into the real characters). Some editors have their own OC witches on their page even. I designed the character but I commissioned Masugitsune to draw it for me. If you're interested, I have my own drawings on my twitter (sondenise1).Sondenise (talk) 19:42, 1 November 2023 (UTC)

Transliteration

Could I ask why you dont like transliteration? As far as I know it isnt doing anything wrong. Amaterasu (talk) 17:54, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

An addition (or rather, rewording) to this: Why do you allow transliteration on some pages but not others? Leila Ibuki's page has transliteration, but you dont want it on Livia's? Amaterasu (talk) 18:02, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

As for Leila, we had her originally as "Reira" until the NA server came out and then we changed it to "Leila" for the sake of consistency. But because she's Japanese we kept the transliteration because that is how it would have been pronounced otherwise. Technically both are correct here as well for that reason. Sondenise (talk) 18:12, 1 December 2023 (UTC)

Love this

Sorry for breaking any sense of formality but the name of this gave me a really good chuckle. Amaterasu (talk) 01:10, 10 April 2024 (UTC)

I love this
I think I love all of these names, actually. Amaterasu (talk) 01:12, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
Nice! I'm glad someone caught on to some of the dumb names I put. Sondenise (talk) 02:05, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
