Homura took over the identity of that girl which had by concidence the same first name as Homura. That´s why Homura dislikes being called Akemi since it remembers her that the body belongs to another person (compare with Speculah: names) | |||
Kyubey was not with Homura while the identity swap happend, so he deosn´t recognize her and states that she is an irregular. | |||
Because of what happend to her she knows that the Puella Magi´s lives depend on the Soul Gems (maybe not the exact fact that the souls are in them). Due to this knowledge she could save Sayaka´s life in episode 6. | |||
