Regarding the Second Interview

The original idea was to have a concluding story within the original series but through producer Iwakami and director Akiyuki Shinbo's enthusiastic support we decided we wanted something expandable as a world and concept. We wanted to make it have more breadth and be a bridge to the world view within the series and the franchise.

This strikes me as most interesting... we haven't heard anything like this before, have we? So... does this mean that the stories of any of the characters we've come to know and love will really not take up the foreground material of the movie? That there really won't be a so-called concluding element to the vague last several seconds of the series? (Not like I'm desperate for one, or anything-- it was pretty darn conclusive in most all other aspects!-- but this does seem to go against the expectations I originally held...) "Think of it this way, if you want to expand the franchise, you want to give an element of expansion, so that the story is not really over but it is just the beginning as if there are more elements to tell in the Madoka universe, if that is the direction they are going with. One could say that the story about madoka and the other girls will be told in the movie (how much, who knows...) as part of the legendarium of the Madoka universe but not the final note of it. --Mutopis 08:19, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

That's a secret, however I can say that aokiume has produced some very attractive designs.
Enemies designed by her? Sounds like we're going to get more magical girl on girl action.

Regarding the Q&A

The panel interview was done through a translator. Particularly for the deconstruction question, it would be interesting to find out how that was translated into Japanese, if any records exist. Apparently no cameras or recording were allowed by the audience, but there were press recording it or at least taking a transcript.

The following is based on rumor and hearsay; see posts in >>64037435, 63995066 and the ANN forum: The ANN report supposedly left out some comments and paraphrased things, and there was some criticism of the translator. "Deconstruction" was used by the fan asking the question, the event translator gave Urobuchi and Iwakami some sort of explanation in Japanese, they answered in Japanese without literally using "deconstruction", and then the translator reused "deconstruction" in the English translation of their answer. It was claimed that Iwakami mentioned Evangelion first, and Urobuchi was explaining that Madoka was in his natural writing style, so his other writings work in similar ways. Furthermore they weren't going out of their way to deconstruct mahou shoujo but rather aimed to create an interesting story, and the type of story they came up with is just how Urobuchi writes. While I think it's likely, based on previous interviews, that the criticism is true that they didn't mean deconstruction, I can't change an interview based on rumored comments. --randomanon 08:09, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
