By viewing her scale-shaped Doppel, the master of this emotion is able to see people’s futures. In order to guarantee that its prophecies are objective, this Doppel is mainly composed of inorganic materials. One of its plates is engraved with a symbol meaning “hope,” and the other with a symbol meaning “despair”. The plates hold the respective weights of the lives that can be saved versus the lives that cannot, but since nobody other than its master can see them, few people listen to its master’s prophecies. Such is the curse bestowed upon the one who prayed to “save everyone,” but killed her own maidenly heart in exchange.

A Maiden Ought to Play Games, 78 CE: Amaryllis shares that she got closer to Lady Cornelia through teaching her to play Ludus, and that she allegedly became a traitor to her own household by aiding Cornelia's romance with Marius instead of Junia. She continues to support Cornelia by encouraging her to watch a chariot race with him. Miyuri loses her smartphone during a stroll through Pompeii, but Cornelia recalls finding a similar device earlier in a storage room. Miyuri fears that some inappropriate content, like doujinshi, might have been viewed. Using her magic of impersonation, Amaryllis discovers that Cornelia's father took the basket containing Miyuri's smartphone to a jeweler for appraisal. One of the clients, a young man named Gaius related to Pliny the Elder, expressed interest in purchasing it. If details about the smartphone were documented in "Naturalis Historia" or writings by Pliny the Younger (Gaius), it could result in a massive 2000-year time paradox. A Spark of Flaring Love: Amaryllis encourages Cornelia to proceed with her plans and use her influence to prevent Gaius from acquiring the smartphone. Cornelia devises a plan to ask her father to rescind his promise to sell the phone but must apologize to Gaius in the evening. As Marius arrives to take Cornelia to the races, the team splits up to locate Gaius. Amaryllis decides to visit the amphitheater to remind Junia to maintain decorum. After the chariot race, Junia expresses her enjoyment of the day spent with Cornelia and Marius. Cornelia declines Marius' offer to escort her to the jeweler, instead asking him to accompany Junia home since her residence is closer. Reuniting after their searches, the group admits failure in locating Gaius. Amaryllis remembers that he will definitely appear at the trading post to meet the jeweler, so as they reach the trading post, they spot a man who matches Gaius' description. The group activates their plan: Amaryllis uses her metamorphosis magic to impersonate Gaius and enter the trading post, while Himena and others prevent the real Gaius from entering. Suddenly, a labyrinth appears near the Temple of Venus. Love is War: As they execute their plan, Marius unexpectedly arrives on horseback to rescue Cornelia and her father from the supposed ghostly disturbances near the Temple of Venus. Meanwhile, Amaryllis successfully poses as Gaius at the trading post, ensuring the phone remains in Cornelia’s possession. To prevent suspicion, Himena and others ensure the real Gaius is detained elsewhere during the transaction. When Gaius regains consciousness after they defeat the witch, he finds himself confused about the events, attributing them to ghostly mischief. The next day proceeds with Cornelia preparing for a picnic with Marius and Junia and a few days later, Amaryllis and Cornelia return to playing Ludus again. |
