On 14th December, shortly after episode 10 broadcast, an official account on X posted a message in Witch Runes, which says:

Original Translation

ONES MEMORIES NOW SHADOWS
SOMEWHERE BEYOND THE END I AWAIT
ADRIFT IN DREAMS
KNEELING I BECOME A SHADOW
ALL TEARS HAVE LONG SINCE VANISHED

NOW AGAIN THE WIND CARESSES MY CHEEKS
A DRESS SWAYS IN THE DARK
GRACEFULLY OMINOUSLY INESCAPABLY
ON THE BRINK OF A CRUMBLING SKY
YEARNING THE SILENCE TREMBLES IN SOLITUDE
AND THUS THE OLD SPELL REVOLVES ONCE AGAIN

TIME HAS DISSOLVED
OLD VOICES TREMBLE
KARMIC DESTINY HAS BEEN ETCHED INTO MY BONES
YOU NIGHT UNRAVELS
ONLY THE FAINT LIGHT REMAINS AND SMILES

ones memories now shadows
somewhere beyond the end I await
adrift in dreams
kneeling I become a shadow
all tears have long since vanished

now again the wind caresses my cheeks
a dress sways in the dark
gracefully ominously inescapably
on the brink of a crumbling sky
yearning the silence trembles in solitude
and thus the old spell revolves once again

time has dissolved
old voices tremble
karmic destiny has been etched into my bones
you night unravels
only the faint light remains and smiles

The first letter of each line reads, "Osaka", "Nagoya", "Tokyo". The following day, a poster of Walpurgisnacht blending into a cityscape in the style of the final episode, can be spotted in major bus stops in the three cities. On the same day, the official account also launches a "take a photo of Walpurgisnacht" campaign as well as a Spot Walpurgisnacht mini application on LINE messaging app.

Difference from the Original Broadcast and Movies

Changes within the episode

TV edition features various changes to both the original television series and the Beginnings/Eternal movies, such as drawing corrections, newly drawn cuts, newly drawn backgrounds, a scene re-composition, restored cuts, a new end card illustration.

The rebroadcast version also differs from the original anime due to scheduling constraints on MBS, which limited the series to 11 episodes. As a result, Episode 1 was heavily condensed, further cutting material that had already been removed in the recap films, including Madoka's meeting with her friends and the brief opening scene featuring Homura. The episode instead focuses primarily on Kyubey being rescued and Madoka's encounter with Mami.

The beginning of Episode 1 also has changes between the original anime and the rebroadcast version, with differences in editing and scene composition that alter how the opening sequence is presented.[1][Better source needed] The rebroadcast version also changes the scene where Sayaka makes her contract with Kyubey compared to the original anime, appearing to blend the original anime version with elements from the first recap film. Additionally, much of the scene appears to have been reanimated compared to the recap films, where it had been largely cut, resulting in noticeable differences in editing and presentation that make it play out differently.[2][Better source needed]

The opening that appears after the end of Homura's past explanation at the end of Episode 9 has differences compared to the original anime version, which is taken from the second recap movie.

Commentary track

TV edition also features a commentary track by Eiko Kano, a comedian who is watching the show for the first time. The watch-along version of Eiko Kano's commentary track on a VOD platform, TVer, has received over one million views by episode 5.[3]

Difference from the TV Broadcast and Streaming

Changes within the episode

The streaming and Japanese TV broadcast versions also have differences, as the streaming version does not include end cards while the TV broadcast does, and the streaming version also contains some mastering errors.
