Should variant pages be in this category? I'm talking about the In Magia Record/Exedra and (Smth ver.) pages. I think they clog up the category when it should be so simple. Same goes for Category:Characters, they're not their own character. - TheresaFrog421 (talk) 01:06, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
- I don't really mind them being included myself… and it's probably more complicated to exclude them ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 06:33, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
- I just looked on Category:Magical girls by Surname and it's even more of a mess, Kimochi Lavi is included but none of the Homura variants are there??? I'm willing to edit all of those pages (I think they don't belong in there either). Maybe those categories should be put into the pages without being in Infobox Character? (that whole template needs a cleanup). Also I believe they shouldnt be on those pages because they arent their own characters, they don't seem like a problem but I think the categories would just look cleaner without them, I know it would be a hastle but I'm willing to do it. - TheresaFrog421 (talk) 14:32, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
- I think all the alt unit pages should be discoverable by browsing the category indexes. However, I can see your point that it's a bit messy to dump them all into the main category. I think it would make sense to have subcategories for alts and dual units, at minimum. Maybe multiple categories for alts, as there are two different types of alts (the ones that are just a different costume, and the ones that are an dramatically different version of the same character – the latter mainly happens for the Holy Quintet and includes the two base versions of Homura, the Scene 0 variants, Madokakami, Devil Homura; but there's also Holy Alina, Rumor Tsuruno, etc). ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 18:17, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
- Now thinking about it I'm suprised we don't have those categories already. I agree, but idk how we would do the two types of alts, though I think two categories (one for all alts and the other one for the costume units) could work. - TheresaFrog421 (talk) 18:51, 6 August 2025 (UTC)

- I tried using nocategory=yes, to delete the characters category, on the dual unit infoboxes and it deletes Category:Magia Record by ID, which should stay. Should Template:Infobox character be edited then? - TheresaFrog421 (talk) 19:51, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, as
nocategory=yesis more for fan-made infoboxes on specific user pages. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 23:12, 6 August 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, as
- Okay since we're done with the Characters and Magical girls categories, we should move on to the special variants, what should the overall variant category be called? And if we do, how do we split them?. - TheresaFrog421 (talk) 16:13, 9 August 2025 (UTC)
- Maybe something like Category:Magia Record Alternate Units or Category:Magia Record Variant Units? ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 17:07, 9 August 2025 (UTC)
- Alternate sounds like it fits Eyeglass Homura, but not the others. I think Variant Units is good, but maybe make it Special Variant Units? It sounds more fitting when most of them are either costumes or powerup units. - TheresaFrog421 (talk) 17:18, 9 August 2025 (UTC)
- Sure, I guess. (Incidentally, if we're going to split it, "costume" and "powerup" could be reasonable splits, and a third for "parody".) ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 17:58, 9 August 2025 (UTC)
- Okay, now what about Cool Homura vs Eyeglass Homura? Are those both going to be considered "base" units, so Homura just has two different base units? And what about Ultimate Madoka and Devil Homura? ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 18:43, 9 August 2025 (UTC)
- I would put Ultimate Madoka and Devil Homura into the category. About the Homuras, I would put eyeglass Homura into the category, just because she has the (ver.) in her unit name, but I can see why they would just be both base units for Homura. - TheresaFrog421 (talk) 19:02, 9 August 2025 (UTC)
