After healing Kyubey, Mami introduces herself.		キユウベえの治療を終えて、自己紹介するマミ。
Mami:	I'm Mami Tomoe. I'm a senior at your school, Mitakihara Junior High. And I'm a magical girl who formed a contract with Kyubey.	マミ「私は巴マミ。あなたたちと同じ滝原中の3年生。そしてーーキユウべえと契約した魔法少女よ」

Madoka's Room

An alarm clock rings. Madoka wakes up startled on her bed.		目覚まし時計の騒音。はっとして目覚めるまどか。ベッドの中にいる。
The morning sun peers through a gap between the curtains. Madoka gazes vaguely around the familiar room.		カーテンの隙間から朝の光。見慣れた自分の部屋の中を、ぼんやりと見渡すまどか。
... Another... weird dream...?	まどか「...はうう...また変な夢...?」
Kyubey sits quietly among a clutter of stuffed toys. Madoka sees it immediately. She blinks, her hand raised toward it.		幾つもあるぬいぐるみ達に混じって、ちょこんと座っているキユウベえ。まどかと目があった途端、瞬きして、ひょいと手を挙げる。
Kyubey:	Good morning, Madoka!	キユウベえ「おはよう、まどか」

Washroom

Washroom		洗面所
Madoka and Junko brush their teeth side-by-side in front of the mirror. Junko still looks half-asleep.		鏡の前で並んで歯を磨いているまどかと詢子。詢子はまだ寝起きの冴えない顔。
Junko:	Madoka, I heard you came home late last night.	詢子「まどか、ゆうべは帰りが遅かったんだって?」
Madoka:	An upperclassman from school invited me to her house.	まどか「先輩の家にお呼ばれしちゃって...」
Junko:	I'm not going to be an annoying mom and impose a curfew and stuff, but make sure you call home before dinner.	詢子「まー門限とかうるさいことは言わないけどさ、晩飯の前には一報入れなよ。親を心配させすぎるとロクなことになんねーぞ」
Madoka:	Eh... I'm sorry.	まどか「うん...ごめんね」
Madoka catches a glimpse at back of the bathroom.		まどか、ちらりと背後の風呂場を覗う。
Kyubey enjoys a morning bath in a sink filled with hot water.		洗面器に湯を張って、朝風呂を堪能しているキユウベえ。
Madoka:	(Voice Over) I guess no one else can see him.	まどかM『本当に人には見えないんだ...』

Mami's Apartment (Flashback)

Mami's Apartment (Flashback)		マミの部屋(回想)
Sayaka and Madoka visit Mami in her high-rise apartment.		マミが住むマンションへと上げられるまどかとさやか。
A spacious studio apartment, the interior is elegantly and stylishly furnished.		ワンルームにしては広めの空間。上品でおしゃれに演出された内装。
Sayaka:	Wow...	さやか「つわ...」
Madoka:	What a beautiful room!	まどか「素敵な部屋...」
Mami:	I live alone, so make yourselves at home. Though I admit you've caught me unprepared.	マミ「一人暮らしだから、遠慮しないで。ろくにおもてなしの準備もないんだけど...」

The three girls are seated around a low table.		ローテーブルを囲んで座る三人と一匹。
A serving of chiffon cake and herbal tea set in front of each girl.		各々にハーブティとシフォンケーキが振る舞われている。
Sayaka eats the delicious cake without any hesitation. On the other hand, Madoka pokes at it somewhat nervously.		わりと遠慮なく美味しそうに食べているさやかと、やや緊張気味にちょんちょんとつついているまどか。
Madoka:	(Mami-san this is delicious!)
Sayaka:	(It really is!)
Mami:	(Thank you.)
Mami:	...Since you've been chosen by Kyubey, that means you two are now involved in this. I think we should get you up to speed with things.	マミ「...キユウベえに選ばれた以上、あなたたちにとっても他人事じゃないものね。ある程度の説明は必要かと思って」
Sayaka:	You bet! Ask us anything at all.	さやか「うんうん、何でも訊いてくれたまえ」
Madoka:	Sayaka-chan, you have that backwards.	まどか「さやかちゃん、それ逆...」
Mami laughs, then removes her Soul Gem pendant to show her guests.		マミは笑って、ペンダントのソウルジェムを取り出し、見せる。
Mami:	This is a Soul Gem.	マミ「これが、ソウルジエム」
Madoka:	Wow, that's pretty!	まどか「わあ、綺麗...」
Mami:	When Kyubey forms a contract with a girl, a Soul Gem is born. This is what identifies us as magical girls, and the source of our power.	マミ「キユウベえに選ばれた女の子が、契約によって生み出す宝石よ。魔力の源であり、魔法少女であることの証でもあるの」
Sayaka:	What do you mean by a contract?	さやか「契約って?」
Kyubey:	I can grant each of you one wish.	キュゥベえ「僕は君たちの願い事を、なんでもひとつ叶えてあげる」
Sayaka:	Wait, really?	さやか「えッ?本当?」
Madoka:	What kind of wish...?	まどか「願い事って...」
Kyubey:	Anything you want. I can fulfill any miracle you wish for.	キユウベえ「何だって構わない。どんな奇跡だって起こしてあげられるよ」
Sayaka:	Um... So it could be gold, silver, priceless treasures, immortality. Maybe even a feast fit for a Chinese emperor!?	さやか「うお...金銀財宝とか、不老不死とか、満漢全席とか!?」
Madoka:	I'm not too sure about that last one...	まどか「いや、最後のはちょっと...」
Kyubey:	In exchange for that wish, a Soul Gem is produced. Those who receive one are given the responsibility of fighting witches.	キユウベえ「でも、それと引き換えに出来上がるのがソウルジエム。この石を手にした者は、魔女と戦う使命を課されるんだ」
Madoka:	...Witches?	まどか「...魔女?」

Washroom

Again, Madoka and Junko dressing themselves in front of the mirror.		再び、鏡の前で身支度中のまどかと詢子。
Madoka:	Hey~, Mom?	まどか「ね~、ママ?」
Junko:	Hm?	詢子「んん?」
Madoka:	What if—— What if someone offered to grant you any wish you wanted with magic. What would you do?	まどか「もしもーーもしも、だよ? 魔法でどんな願い事でも叶えてもらえる、って言われたら、どうする?」
Junko:	I'd get rid of a board member or two.	詢子「専務を二人ばかり余所に飛ばしてもらうわ」
Madoka:	Eh~ (Madoka looks troubled by the reply)	まどか「わ~」(困ったヒトだなあ、もう)
Junko:	The president is also getting a bit too old for this, so maybe I would wish for him to retire. But he hasn't even named a successor yet... He better not pick that useless son of his...	詢子「後はそーねー、社長もさー、もう無理が利く歳じゃねーんだからそろそろ隠居考えてほしいんだけど、代わりがいないってのがねえ...あのドラ息子は二代目の器じゃねえしなあ・・・・・」
Madoka:	What if you became president then, mom?	まどか「いっそママが社長さんになっちやったら?」
Junko looks startled for a moment, her makeup hand stops.		メイクの手を止め、はっとなる詢子。
Junko:	I didn't think about that.	詢子「その手があったか」
Madoka:	... Mom?	まどか「...ママ?」
Ignoring Madoka, Junko crosses her arms in thought.		まどかを余所に、腕組みして、真顔で考え込む詢子。
Junko:	I'll have to work things out with the Sales Department first. Planning and Administration are already my puppets... The only problem left is that baldy in Accounting. Hmm.... (I'll just pull off his toupée.)	詢子「営業部にさえしっかり根回ししとけば、企画部と総務は言いなりだし...そうなると問題は経理のハゲかあ。ふむ・・・・・」
Madoka:	Mom, you look scary.	まどか「ママ、目が恐いよ...」

Sayaka:	What's a witch? Are they different from magical girls?	さやか「魔女って何なの?魔法少女とは違うの?」
Kyubey:	If magical girls are born from wishes, then witches are born from curses. Magical girls spread hope, whereas witches spread despair. And to make matters worse, they can't be seen by normal humans. Doubt and suspicion, irrational rage and hatred... They sow the seeds of catastrophe in this world.	キユウベえ「願いから生まれるのが魔法少女だとすれば、魔女は呪いから生まれた存在だ。魔法少女が希望を振りまくように、魔女は絶望を撒き散らす。しかもその姿は普通の人間には見えないからタチが悪い。不安や猜疑心、過剰な怒りや憎しみといった負の衝動...そういう禍の種を世界にもたらしているんだ」
Mami:	Many inexplicable suicides and murders that occur are caused by a witch's curse. It's a formless evil that eats away at humans from the inside.	マミ「理由のはっきりしない自殺や殺人事件は、かなりの確率で魔女の呪いが原因なのよ。形のない悪意となって、人間を内側から蝕んでいくの」
Sayaka:	If they're so dangerous, then how come no one knows about them?	さやか「そんなヤバイ奴らがいるのに、どうして誰も気付かないの?」
Kyubey:	Because witches hide within barriers and never show themselves to people. The labyrinth-like area you wandered into before was one.	キュゥべえ「魔女は常に結界の奥に隠れ潜んで、決して人前には姿を現さないからね。さっき君たちが迷い込んだ迷路のような場所がそうだよ」
Mami:	They're pretty dangerous, actually. Those who are swallowed up by the barriers don't usually live to tell the tale.	マミ「結構、危ないところだったのよ。あれに呑み込まれた人間は、普通は生きて帰れないから」
Madoka shudders at the thought.		思い出して、身震いするまどか。
Madoka:	Mami-san, are you really fighting something that dangerous?	まどか「マミさんは、そんな恐いものと戦ってるの?」
Mami:	Yes. Sometimes at the risk of my life.	マミ「そう、命懸けよ。だからあなたたちも慎重に選んだほつがいい」
Mami's face turns more serious.		やや真顔になるマミ。
Mami:	That's why I think you two should weight your options carefully. Now that you've been chosen by Kyubey, you can have any wish granted. However, doing so could lead to your death.	マミ「キユウベえに選ばれたあなたたちには、どんな願いでも叶えられるチャンスがある。でもそれは死と隣り合わせなの」
Madoka:	Uh....	まどか「ううう...」
Sayaka:	That's a tough decision.	さやか「うわぁ、悩むなあ...」
		ややビビるまどかと、考え込むさやか。
Sayaka:	I guess I should wish for more than just delicious food...	さやか「でも美味しい話だよね~。どんな望みでも叶えてもらえるんだもんねえ...」
Mami:	To help you make up your minds, why don't you come along with me on a witch hunt?	マミ「そこで提案なんだけど、二人とも、しばらく私の魔女退治に付き合ってみない?」
Madoka: Sayaka:	Huh!?	まどか、さやか「ええツ!?」
Mami:	That way you can see what it's like to fight a witch. And afterwards, you should take the time to think about whether having your wish come true is worth your life.	マミ「魔女との戦いがどういうものか、その目で見て確かめてみればいいわ。その上で、危険を冒してまで叶えたい願いがあるのかどうか、じっくり考えてみるべきだと思うの」

Road to School

Road to School		通学路
A crowd of students heading to school.		通学途中の生徒の群れ。
Just like yesterday, Madoka joins in with Sayaka and Hitomi from behind.		昨日と同じく、さやかと仁美のところに後から合流するまどか。
But this time, Kyubey is sitting neatly on Madoka' shoulder.		ただし今朝のまどかの肩にはキユウベえが鎮座している。
Madoka:	Good morning—!	まどか「おつはよー」
Hitomi:	Good morning.	仁美「おはようございます」
Kyubey:	Good morning, Sayaka.	キユウベえ「おはよう、さやか」
Sayaka:	Uh... Ah....	さやか「う...あ...」
Even though she knows no one else can see Kyubey, including Hitomi, Sayaka is still loss for words.		さやかは、仁美ほか周囲の誰もがキユウベえの存在に気付いてないと知り、言葉に詰まる。
Hitomi:	Is something wrong, Sayaka-san?	仁美「...?どうかしましたか?さやかさん」
Sayaka:	(To Madoka)So we're really the only ones... who can see him?	さやか「(まどかに)やっぱソイツ...見えないんだ。人には」
Madoka:	(A troubled laughter) Looks like it.	まどか「(やや困った笑い)そうみたい」
Hitomi:	...?	仁美「...?」
Sayaka:	(Don't worry about it. Let's go.)
Without moving her mouth, Madoka sends a thought to Sayaka by telepathy.		まどか、口を噤んだままさやかに思念を送る。
Madoka:	Looks like we can also talk to each other telepathically.	まどか『頭で考えるだけで、会話とかできるみたいだよ』
Sayaka looks shaken about suddenly receive telepathy.		いきなりテレパシーを送られて、動揺するさやか。
Sayaka:	Eeh!? Wait, so we already have magical powers!?	さやか『ええツ!?あたしたち、もう既にそんなマジカルな力が?』
Kyubey:	No, no. I'm just using myself to relay your thoughts. It's pretty convenient though, isn't it?	キユウベえ『いやいや、今はまだ僕が間で中継してるだけ。でも内緒話には便利でしょ?』
Sayaka:	It... feels a bit strange.	さやか『なーんか...変なカンジ』
Hitomi tilts her head, puzzled, finding Sayaka's and Madoka's actions inexplicable.		さやかとまどかの不可解な態度に、小首を傾げる仁美。
Hitomi:	Hey, what's going on with you two? You keep staring into each other's eyes.	仁美「お二人とも、さっきからどうしたんです? しきりに目配せしてますけど」
Madoka:	N-no, we've been... Um...	まどか「えッ? いや、これはッ、あの、その...」
Hitomi:	No, don't say it! Are you two already close enough to communicate through your eyes alone!? I can't believe you've become so close to each other after just one day. What on earth happened yesterday?	仁美「まさか二人とも、既に目と目で分かり合う間柄ですの? まあッ、たった一日でそこまで急接近だなんて!昨日はあのあと一体何が!?」
Hitomi blushes alone in her delusions. Madoka and Sayaka look at her rather blankly.		一人で妄想に赤面して身もだえする仁美。やや白けるまどかとさやか。
Sayaka:	No, uh... you've got it all wrong.	さやか「いや、そりゃねえわ流石に」
Madoka:	A lot did happen last night, though.	まどか「確かに色々あったんだけどさ...」
Hitomi:	You can't! You're both girls...! That's forbidden love!	仁美「でもいけませんわ、お二方、女同士で...それは禁断の恋の形ですのよ!」
Sayaka:	You forgot your bag!
Madoka:	... Hitomi-chan's acting a bit like you today.	まどか「...今日の仁美ちゃん、なんだかさやかちゃんみたいだよ?」
Sayaka:	What's that supposed to mean!?	さやか「どーゆー意味だよう? それはッ!」

Classroom

Classroom		教室
Moments before homeroom. All the classmates chatting among themselves. Madoka, Sayaka, and Kyubey communicate using telepathy.		ホームルーム前のひととき。雑談に興じるクラスメイたちをよそに、念話で会話するまどか、さやか、キユウベ‘ぇ。
Sayaka:	Is it okay for you to come with us to school like nothing's happened?	さやか『つーかさ、あんた、のこのこ学校までついて米ちゃって良かったの?』
Kyubey:	Why wouldn't it be?	キユウベえ『どうして?』
Sayaka:	I told you that the girl from yesterday transfered into this class, right? Wasn't she trying to kill you?	さやか『言ったでしょ。昨日のあいつ、このクラスの転校生だって。あんた、命狙われてるんじゃないの?』
Kyubey:	I actually think the school is the safest place for me. Mami's here too.	キユウベえ『むしろ学校の方が安全だと思うな。マミもいるし』
Madoka:	Mami's a senior, so her class is kind of far from here.	まどか『マミさんは三年生だから、クラス、ちょっと遠いよ?』
Mami:	Don't worry. I can hear everything you're saying.	マミ『ご心配なく。話はちゃんと聞こえてるわ』
Sayaka:	Eep!	さやか『わっ』
Madoka:	U-Uh... good morning.	まどか『あっ、えっと...ぉ、おはようございます』

Senior classroom. Mami is seated, her eyes closed, chin resting in her hands. She looks asleep at first glance, but she's actually focusing on the Soul Gem next to her ear.		三年生の教室。席について、頬杖をついて目を閉じているマミ。一見居眠りしている風に見えるが、ソウルジエムを耳に当てている。

Mami:	I'll keep a close eye on you all, so don't worry. Besides, I'm pretty sure she wouldn't attack any of you in public.	マミ『ちゃんと見守ってるから安心して。それにあの子だって、人前で襲ってくるような真似はしないはずよ』
Sayaka:	I hope you're right...	さやか『ならいいんだけど...』
Homura enters the classroom.		そこへ、教室に入ってくるほむら。
Sayaka:	Damn. Speak of the devil.	さやか「げ、噂をすれば影」
Homura stares first at Madoka, then glares at Kyubey beside her.		ほむらは真っ先にまどかと、その傍らにいるキユウべえを凝視する。
Kyubey hides in Madoka's shadow, looking somewhat frightened.		やや怯えた風にまどかの陰に隠れるキユウべえ。
Madoka loses concentration and turns away from Homura's stern gaze. She cuddles Kyubey tightly.		ほむらの険しい視線に気圧されるまどか。ぎゅっとキユウベえを抱きしめる。

Sayaka:	So is that transfer student also an, uh... what was it? Magical girl? Just like you, Mami-san?	さやか「あの転校生も、えっと、その、魔法少女なの?マミさんと同じ?」
Mami:	Yes, she is. She seems quite powerful too.	マミ「そうね。間違いないわ。かなり強い魔力を持ってるみたい」
Sayaka:	Wouldn't that make her one of the good guys fighting evil witches? Why did she suddenly attack Madoka, then?	さやか「でも、それなら、マミさんみたいに魔女をやっつける正義の味方なんだよね?それがなんで、急にまどかを襲ったりしたわけ?」
Kyubey:	She was after me. I imagine she was trying to stop the creation of new magical girls.	キユウベえ「彼女が狙ってたのは僕だよ。新しい魔法少女が生まれることを阻止しようとしてたんだろうね」
Madoka:	Huh...?	まどか「え...」
Sayaka:	Why? Wouldn't it be better to have more people fighting the same enemy?	さやか「なんで?同じ敵と戦っているなら、仲間は多い方がいいんじゃないの?」
Mami:	That's not necessarily the case. It's actually more common for us to compete with each other.	マミ「それが、そうでもないの。むしろお互いをライバル視して競争になることの方が多いのよね」
Madoka:	Really...? Why...?	まどか「そんな...どうして...」
Mami:	There are rewards for eliminating a witch. So, in some cases, it turns into a contest, and magical girls may even fight over them.	マミ「魔女を倒せば、それなりの見返りがあるの。だから時と場合によっては、手柄の取り合いになってぶつかることもあるのよね」
Sayaka forrows her brows thoughtfully.		眉根に皺を寄せて考え込むさやか。
Sayaka:	So basically, she predicted that Kyubey would try to talk to Madoka, and that's why she's been pestering Madoka since this morning?	さやか「つまりあいつは、キユウベえがまどかに声をかけるって最初から目星をつけてて、それで朝からあんなに絡んできたってわけ?」
Mami:	That's most likely the case.	マミ「多分、そういうことでしょうね」

Classroom

——Madoka keeps her head low, because Homura won't stop staring at her.		ーー引き続き、ほむらの視線に射竦められているまどか。
Sayaka:	Don't worry, Madoka.	さやか『気にすんな、まどか』
Sayaka puts on a tough face as she send her next thought.		きっぱりと強い意志を込めて、思念を送ってくるさやか。
Sayaka:	If she tries to do anything, I'll punch her lights out! We've even got Mami-san here.	さやか『あいつが何かちょっかい出してきたら、あたしがぶつとばしてやるからさ。マミさんだってついてるんだし』
Mami:	That's right. Miki-san's fists aside, I'm with you, so everything will be fine. Don't worry.	マミ『そうよ。美樹さんはともかくとして、私がついてるんだから大丈夫。安心して』
Sayaka:	Don't put me aside!	さやか『ともかくってゆーなーツ』
Madoka relaxes somewhat, listening to Mami's and Sayaka's exchange.		マミとさやかの遣り取りに、やや緊張を解されて表情を和ませるまどか。
Homura looks away from Madoka, as if nothing had happened. She joins in with the conversations of the classmates around her.		ほむらは何事もなかったかのようにまどかから視線を外し、話しかけてくるクラスメイトたちの輸の中に紛れていく。

Classroom in Session

A boring class, all is quiet.		長閑な空気の退屈な授業。
Saotome:	(So, as we've learned thus far, a phrase is in the "active voice" when the subject—a person or thing—performs the action. In contrast, a phrase is in the "passive voice" when the subject receives the action. Passive voice is formed by an auxiliary verb with the participle of a transitive verb. For instance, if I were to say, "He likes me," or "彼は私のことが好き"—)
Madoka sneaks a peak at Homura. Homura didn't notice Madoka watching her, paying attention only to the front of the class.		まどか、まずほむらの席を覗う。ほむらはまどかなど眼中なしに真つ直ぐ正面を向いている。
Madoka turns to check up on Sayaka. Sayaka nods off, almost asleep, fatigued from last night.		続いてさやかの様子を窺うまどか。気疲れしたのか、こっくりこっくりと船をこいでいる。
Madoka, relieved that there're no crisis for the time being, starts to doodle to stave off boredom.		まどか、ひとまず危機はないと安堵するものの、それはそれで手持ち無沙汰。ノートが次第に落書きで埋まっていく。
A drawing of Mami's costume, another of Homura's. "Ribbons?" "Frills?" Comments and jokes scatter around the notebook. Unwittingly, Madoka start designing her own magical girl costume.		まず変身したマミの絵、続いてほむらの絵。『リボンは?」『フリルとか』と変なコメントもつきはじめる。ーー無意識のうちに、自分の変身姿について一人デザインコンペを始めているまどか。

Rooftop

Lunch break on the school rooftop. Students eating lunch, chatting, scattered sparsely here and there.		昼休みの校舎屋上。弁当を食べたり、談笑したりしている生徒たちが、ぽつぽつと疎らにいる。
Madoka, Sayaka, and Kyubey look aimlessly at the sky, leaning against a fence among the students.		その中で、フェンスに凭れ、漫然と空を眺めているまどか、さやか、キユウベえ。
Sayaka:	Hey, Madoka. Have you come up with a wish yet?	さやか「ねー、まどかあ。ーー願い事、何か考えた?」
Madoka:	Nope. What about you?	まどか「ううん。さやかちゃんは?」
Sayaka:	Me neither. I kind of thought a whole bunch of things would pop into my mind—	さやか「あたしも全然。何だかなー。いくらでも思いつくと思ったんだけどなー」
Sayaka sighs and stretches herself.		溜息をついて、伸びをするさやか。
Sayaka:	I mean, there are a bunch of things I want to have and do, but when risking our lives is the catch— You know?	さやか「欲しいモノもやりたいことも、いっぱいあるけどさ。命懸け、ってところで、やっぱ引っかかっちゃうよね。そうまでする程のモンじゃねーよなーって」
Madoka:	Yeah...	まどか「うん...」
Kyubey:	That's surprising. Most girls answer immediately.	キユウベえ「意外だなあ。大抵の子は二つ返事なんだけど」
Sayaka:	I guess we're just idiots.	さやか「まーきっと、あたしたちがバカなんだよ」
Madoka:	Huh~? You think so...?	まどか「え~?そうかな...」
Sayaka:	Yep. Blissfully ignorant idiots.	さやか「そう。幸せパカ」
Her face looks solemn in contrast her joking tone.		冗談めかした言葉とは裏腹に、真顔でやや憂い顔のさやか。

Madoka:	...	まどか「...」
Madoka doesn't know how to reply to Sayaka's sudden seriousness.		さやかの真面目な語りに、言葉を返せないまどか。
Sayaka:	So if we can't think of anything, then it must mean we haven't faced much misfortune. Living such a sheltered life has made us ignorant.	さやか「だから、それが見つからない私たちって、その程度の不幸しか知らないってことじゃん。恵まれすぎてバカになっちゃってるんだよ」

Sayaka's memories. Kyousuke's hospital room. His back can be seen as he seats up on his bed to stare out of the window.		さやかの回想。恭介の病室。ベッドの上で、窓の外を見つめている恭介の背中。

Sayaka:	... But why us of all people?	さやか「...なんで、あたしたちなのかな?」
Madoka looks puzzled by the tingled of sadness in Sayaka's voice.		さやかの声音に滲む影。戸惑うまどか。
Sayaka:	Don't you think it's unfair? I'm sure there are other people who'd give anything for a chance like this...	さやか「不公平だと思わない?こういうチャンス、本当に欲しいと思ってる人は他にいるはずなのにね...」
Madoka:	Sayaka-chan...	まどか「さやかちゃん...」
At this time, Homura appears on the the rooftop. Madoka and Sayaka turn nervous as soon as they sees her. Homura walks directly toward Madoka as soon as she spots her.		そのとき、屋上に姿を現すほむら。はっと緊張するまどかとさやか。ほむらはまどかを見つけるや否や、真つ直ぐに歩み寄ってくる。
Sayaka steps in front of Madoka to protect her. A message from Mami appears in their mind.		まどかを庇うかのように前に出るさやか。だが二人の脳裏に、マミからの思念が届く。
Mami:	Don't worry.	マミ『大丈夫...』
Homura turns her attention to the adjacent building. Figure of Mami appears on the rooftop, Soul Gem in hand. Both parties alert to each other, Homura stops her movement.		ほむら、隣の校舎を見遣る。その屋上にはソウルジエムを手にしたマミの姿。相手方の警戒ぶリを認識して、足を止めるほむら。
Sayaka:	... Picking up where you left off yesterday?	さやか「...昨日の続きかよ?」
Homura:	No, that's not my intention.	ほむら「いいえ、そのつもりはないわ」
Homura glances at Kyubey coldly.		冷ややかな眼差しでキユゥベえを見るほむら。
Homura:	I had hope to settle things before he made contact with Kaname Madoka, but it's too late for that now.	ほむら「そいつが鹿目まどかと接触する前にケリをつけたかったけれど...今更それも手遅れだし」
Once again, Homura looks to Madoka.		あらためて、まどかを見据えるほむら。
Homura:	So what will you do? Have you listened to his lies and decide to become magical girls too?	ほむら「で、どうするの?そいつの言葉を鵜呑みにして、あなたも魔法少女になるつもり?」
Kyubey:	I'm not pressuring anyone. For now, Madoka is contemplating her options.	キユウベえ「僕は強制はしてないよ。まどかたちも今、迷つてるところだ」
Sayaka:	Even if we are, that's none of your business!	さやか「どっちにしろ、あんたにとやかく言われる筋合いはないわよ」
Homura glance at Sayaka briefly. Sayaka tries her best to avoid flinching from the challenge. Homura returns her focus on Madoka.		ほむら、さやかを一瞥。やや気圧されるものの怯まないさやか。だがすぐにほむらの視線は再びまどかへ。
Homura:	Do you remember what I told you yesterday?	ほむら「昨日の話、憶えてる?」
Madoka:	Yeah...	まどか「うん...」
Homura:	That's fine, then. I pray that my warning won't fall on deaf ears.	ほむら「ならいいわ。忠告が無駄にならないよう、祈ってる」
With that, Homura turns around and heads towards the roof exit.		言い残して踵を返し、屋上を去っていこ、っとするほむら。
Madoka:	Ho—— Homura-chan?	まどか「ほーーほむらちゃん?」
Her call stops Homura.		呼び止められ、立ち止まるほむら。
Madoka:	What... wish did you make to become a magical girl?	まどか「あの...あなたは、どんな願い事をして魔法少女になったの?」
Homura glances back at Madoka. An intense emotion fills her face, not quite in anger, but not sadness either. The reaction stuns Madoka, suddenly at a loss for words.		じろりと肩越しにまどかを睨むほむら。その表情には、怒りとも悲しみともつかない激しい感情が覘く。驚きに言葉を失うまどか。
And just as quickly, Homura goes back to her usual, expressionless self and exits the rooftop.		だがそれも一瞬で、ほむらはすぐに普段の無表情に戻リ、屋上を去っていく。

Part B

After School - Classroom

Students chatter, ready to head home.		談笑しながら帰り支度をしている生徒たち。
Madoka and Sayaka are ready to go, but Hitomi is packing up at her own pace.		マイペースに鞄を整理している仁美のところに、既に身支度を終えたまどかとさやかがやってくる。
Sayaka:	Sorry, Hitomi. We have a few things to do today... So we're heading out first.	さやか「仁美ごめん、今日はあたしら、ちょっと野暮用があって...先に行ってるね」
Hitomi:	Oh, something private?	仁美「あら、内紛ごとですの?」
Madoka:	We...	まどか「えっと...」
Madoka stammers. Hitomi's cheeks flush from her delusions.		口ごもるまどか。仁美は勝手に勘違いして頬を赤らめる。
Hitomi:	I'm so jealous! No one can come between you two anymore, can they?	仁美「羨ましいですわ。もうお二人の間に割リ込むむ余地なんてないんですのね...」
Sayaka:	Uh, you're really misunderstanding us...	さやか「いやだから違うって。それ」
Homura's eyes follow as Madoka and Sayaka leave the classroom. Behind her, Girl A calls out.		教室を出て行くまどかとさやかを、じっと目で追っているほむら。その背中に、女子Aが声をかける。
Girl A:	Akemi-san, wanna come to a café with us?	女子A「暁美さん、今日こそ帰りに喫茶店寄ってこ」
Homura turns around, smiles regretfully.		振り向いて、さも残念そうに微笑むほむら。
Homura:	I have something I need to take care of again today...	ほむら「ごめんなさいね。今日もちょっと急ぐ用事があって...」

Mall - Fast Food Restaurant

Madoka, Sayaka, and Mami meet in the same store as yesterday. Sayaka holds a long package in her hand, wrapped in a light fabric.		昨日と同じ店に集合しているまどか、さやか、マミ。さやかの手荷物の中には、何やら布て包んだ細長い物体がある。
Sayaka is eating her value meal. Mami orders only juice. Madoka feeds Kyubey some of her fries.		がっつりバリューセット一人前を食べているさやか。ジュースだけしか頼んでいないマミ。まどかは自分のポテトをキユウべえに食べさせている。
Mami:	Okay, let's begin our first lesson on the magical girl experience. Are you two ready?	マミ「さて、それじゃあ魔法少女体験コース第一弾。張り切って行ってみましょうか。準備はいい?」
Sayaka:	I'm not sure if will help, but I brought this...!	さやか「準備になってるかどうか分からないけど...」
Sayaka unwraps what she has brought - a metal bat, somewhat worn with age.		さやか、持参した包みの端を解いて中身を見せる。やや年季の入った金属バット。
Sayaka:	I took it from the PE storage. I thought it'd be better than nothing.	さやか「こっそり体育倉庫からガメてきたよ。何もないよりはマシかと思って」
Mami smiles, partially in surprise and partially in admiration.		マミ、呆れ半分、感心半分の微笑。
Mami:	Well, it's good to see you're mentally prepared to fight.	マミ「まあ、そういう覚悟でいてくれるのは助かるわ」
Sayaka:	Madoka, did you bring anything?	さやか「まどかは何か、持ってきた?」
Madoka:	Huh? Oh, I have this...	まどか「え?えっと、私は...」
Worried that she came empty-handed, Madoka panics.		素直に手ぶらで来たとは言えず、慌てるまどか。
WIthout thinking further, she pulls out a notebook from her bag.		あまり深い考えもなく、鞄からノートを取り出して中身を見せる。
On it are sketches of magical girls, with details poses drawn from three directions.		見聞きにびっしりと舎かれた魔法少女ルックの三面図と細部と決めポーズ草案。
Madoka:	I-I figured I might as well think about the costume...	まどか「と、とりあえず、衣装だけでも考えておこうかと思って...」
Mami and Sayaka look on in amazement. Unable to hold back any more, they burst into laughter.		しばし呆気にとられるさやかとマミ。それから堪えきれずに笑い出す。
Madoka becomes self-aware. Her face flushes bright red.		そこでようやく、自分のずれっぷりを自覚して、顔を真っ赤にするまどか。
Mami:	You're enthusiastic, that's for sure.	マミ「うん、意気込みとしては充分ね」
Sayaka:	That's great. I can't top that.	さやか「こりゃあ参った。あんたにや負けるわ」
Madoka:	Eh...	まどか「うう...」

Mall - Area Under Renovation - Passage

Yesterday's Barrier is long gone. Mami, with her Soul Gem slowly pulsating in her hand, explains to her followers.		昨日の結界が消えた場所に来ている一行。マミが、手の中で鈍い光を脈打たせているソウルジエムを二人に見せる。
Mami:	It's reacting to the remnants of magic used by that witch we faced yesterday. Searching for witches basically involves a lot of walking. All you do is follow the Soul Gem as it traces the witch's presence.	マミ「これが、昨日の魔女が残していった魔力の痕跡。基本的に、魔女捜しは足頼みよ。こうしてソウルジエムが捉える魔力の気配を迪っていくわけ」
Sayaka:	That's pretty lame...	さやか「意外と地味...」

Residential Street

Her Soul Gem now shines and dims as Mami strolls by a row of houses. Madoka and Sayaka follow closely behind. Kyubey rests on Madoka's shoulder.		ソウルジエムの光の強弱を頼りに、近辺の町並みをそぞろ歩くマミ。その後についていくまどかとさやか。キユウべえはまどかの肩に。
Sayaka sighs as she looks at Mami's Soul Gem.		さやか、マミの手元を覗き込んで溜息をつく。
Sayaka:	The light hasn't changed at all.	さやか「光、ぜんぜん変わらないね」
Mami:	It's been a whole day since it escaped. There's very little left to track.	マミ「取り逃がしてから一晩経っちゃったからね。足跡も薄くなってるわ」
Madoka:	What if you had gone after it yesterday...?	まどか「あのとき、すぐに追いかけてたら...」
Mami:	I might have been able to defeat it, but it wasn't worth leaving you two behind.	マミ「仕留められたかもしれないけれど、あなたたちを放っておいてまで優先することじゃなかったわ」
Madoka:	... I'm sorry.	まどか「...ごめんなさい」
Mami:	It's fine.	マミ「いいのよ」
Sayaka:	Mami-san's one of the good guys! On the other hand, that transfer student really gets on my nerves!	さやか「うん、やっぱりマミさんは正義の味方だ! ーーそれに引き換え、あの転校生、ホンツトにむかつくな1」
Madoka finds herself with mixed feelings, remembering that tragic expression on Homura at the rooftop.		まどか、屋上を去り際のほむらの痛ましい表情を思い出して、やや複雑な気持ちになる。
Madoka:	(Voice Over) I wonder if she's really that bad.	まどかM『本当に悪い子なのかな...』

An office lady enters an abandoned building, her gait like a sleepwalker.		とある廃ピルの玄関、夢遊病者のような足取りで中に入っていくOLの姿。

Mami continues her search.		引き続き、マミの探索は続く。
The surround landscape gradually turns desolated.		周囲の景色は段々と寂れて人気のない場所に。
Sayaka:	Hey, Mami-san. Do you have any idea of where the witch might be?	さやか「ねえマミさん、魔女のいそうな場所、せめて目星ぐらいはつけられないの?」
Mami:	Witches' curses tend to cause traffic accidents and assaults. So I prioritize major highways and entertainment districts where accidents and brawls are likely, as well as isolated places that are perfect for suicides. The worst case scenario is when they haunt places like hospitals. It's not a pretty sight when they drain the life out of those in a weakened state.	マミ「魔女の呪いの影響で、わりと多いのは交通事故や傷害事件よね。だから大きな道路や、喧嘩が起きそうな歓楽街は優先的にチェックしないと。あとは自殺に向いてそうな人気のない場所...それから、病院とかに取り憑かれると最悪ょ。ただでさえ弱っている人たちから生命力が吸い上げられるから、目も当てられないことになる」

Inside the abandoned building, the office lady walks lazily up a flight of stairs.		廃ピル内部、ふらふらと階段を上がっていくOL。

Sayaka:	In that case, aren't the possible locations fairly limited?	さやか「それだけ分かってたら、けっこう限られてくるんじゃないの?」
Mami:	If multiple sacrifices occur at the same place, it'll attract attention as an ominous place. That's why Witches will move from place to place regularly.	マミ「同じ場所で繰り返し犠牲が出たら、不吉な場所として注目されちゃうでしょう? だから魔女は私たちの裏をかこうとして、何度も場所を移動するの」
Mami stops suddenly, staring at her Soul Gem attentively. Its pulsation has obviously quickened. Mami studies her surroundings, her face looking grim.		ふと立ち止まり、ソウルジェムの反応に見入るマミ。光の脈動が明らかに早くなっている。険しい顔で周囲を見回すマミ。
Mami:	... It's reacting to some very powerful magic. It must be close.	マミ「...かなり強い魔力の波動だわ。近いかも」

Rooftop of the abandoned building, the office lady with her shoes off, hangs over the railing. She stares at the ground with a hollow smile.		廃ビル屋上、靴を脱ぎ、手摺リを乗り越えるOL。縁に立って地面を見下ろし、虚ろな笑顔を見せる。

Lead by her Soul Gem, Mami and the rest finally arrive in front of the abandoned building.		ソウルジエムの誘導で、ついにマミたちは廃ピルの前へ。
The Soul Gem flashes violently.		ソウルジエムの輝きは激しく明滅している。
Mami:	It has to be here...!	マミ「間違いない、ここだ...」
Sayaka looks up to see the office lady overhead. She stands precariously at the edge of the rooftop.		頭上を見上げ、屋上の縁に立っているOLの姿を見つけるさやか。
Sayaka:	Mami-san, look!	さやか「マミさん、あれ!」
Too late! The office lady throws herself in the air. Madoka holds her mouth in horror.		だが時すでに遅く、OLは宙に身を躍らせる。恐怖に口元を押さえるまどか。
Mami transforms instantly. Using magic, she catches the body of the office lady.		マミ、瞬時に変身。魔力を放ってOLの身体を受け止める。
The office lady lands gently on the ground. She has lost conscious, her body motionless.		地面にふわりと着地するOL。意識を失って、身じろぎもしない。
Mami moves quickly to check her condition. On the back of her neck is a stamp, indicating her as a victim of a Witch.		マミ、駆け寄って素早く彼女の様態をチェックする。首筋には、魔女に魅入られた犠牲者であることを示す刻印がある。
Mami:	(A witch's kiss. I knew it.)
Madoka:	I-Is she...	まどか「そ、その人は...」
Mami:	It's okay. She's just unconscious. —— Let's go.	マミ「大丈夫。気を失ってるだけ。ーー行くわよ!」
Mami dashes into the abandoned building. Madoka and Sayaka follow hastily behind.		廃ビルのエントランスへと駆け込むマミ。慌てて続くまどかとさやか。
Mami's Soul Gem flashes, unveiling an entrance to the Witch's Barrier.		マミはソウルジエムを一閃させ、隠されていた結界への入口を暴き出す。
Mami:	You're not getting away today!	マミ「今日こそ逃がさないわよ...」
Madoka swallows nervously. Sayaka, determined, unwraps her bat for battle. Mami grabs Sayaka's bat, imbuing it with magic. The bat begins to glow faintly.		緊張に生唾を呑み込むまどか。さやかも、いよいよ荒事と覚悟を決めて、パットから包み紙を剥がす。そのパットにマミが手を触れると、魔力が充模され、ほのかな輝きを帯びはじめる。
Sayaka:	Wow...	さやか「わ...」
Mami:	It's nothing special, but at least it'll help protect you. Make sure you stay by my side, oaky?	マミ「気休め程度だけど、これで身を守る程度の役には立つわ。絶対に私の側を離れないでね」
Madoka: Sayaka:	Okay!	まどか、さやか「はい!」
Mami dives in first. The others step into the Barrier, following close behind.		マミを先頭に、結界の中へと踏み込んでいく一行。
Homura appears before the abandoned building.		その後で、廃ピルのエントランスへと姿を現すほむら。
Her eyes narrow when she sees the Barrier entrance.		鋭い眼差しで結界の入口を見つめる。
Homura:	...	ほむら「...」

Inside the Barrier

Mami advances, parrying back Familiars that close in to attack.		攻め寄せる使い魔たちを蹴散らしながら先へと進むマミ。
Madoka, Sayaka, and Kyubey follow behind.		後に続くまどか、さやか、キユウベえ。
Sayaka:	Wah... Stay away! Stay away!	さやか「わわッ、く、来んな。来んな!」
Sayaka swings desperately at the Familiars around them, not particularly effective.		弱りながらも追い鎚ってくる使い魔たちを、必死にパットで叩き伏せるさやか。
Kyubey:	Keep it up! We're almost at the Barrier's core!	キユウベえ「頑張って!もうすぐ結界の最深部だ!」
Mami:	So are you two scared?	マミ「ーーどう?恐い? 二人とも」
Sayaka:	Th-This is nothing!	さやか「なつなつなっ何のことねーッて!」
Sayaka answers mid-swing, clearly troubled.		半ば自棄になってパットを振り回しているさやか。
Madoka:	(I'm scared, but...)
On the other hand, Madoka clenches Kyubey tightly in fear, content to simply watch Mami fight from behind.		一方でまどかは、怯えてキユウベえを固く抱きしめながらも、戦うマミの後ろ姿に陶然と見入っている
Madoka:	I'm scared, but...	まどかM『恐いけど、でも...』
Dazzled by the elegence of a magical girl in battle, Madoka finds in herself an yearning she never realized before.		颯爽と戦う魔法少女の姿に、いつしか憧れを懐いている自分を自覚するまどか。

Barrier - Core

Mami breaks through the walls of Familiars at last.		ついに使い魔たちの防壁を突破するマミたち。
Finally, the Witch emerges before them. It's the same individual that appeared in Episode 1.		その眼前に、いよいよ魔女の本体が姿を現す。一話でショッピングモールに現れたのと同じ個体である。
Mami:	Look. ——That's a Witch.	マミ「見て。ーーあれが、魔女」
Sayaka:	Digusting...	さやか「うわっ、グロい...」
Madoka:	Are you... going to fight that?	まどか「あんなのと...戦うんですか?」
Mami:	It's okay. I won't lose. (Stay back.)	マミ「大丈夫。負けるもんですか」
Mami steps towards the Witch, full of confidence.		自信たっぷりに魔女の前へと進み出るマミ。
Madoka:	(Mami-san!)
Mami:	(Don't worry.) I can't just embarrass myself in front of my future protégés.	マミ「未来の後輩に、あんまり格好悪いとこ見せられないものね!」
Mami holds a magical gun. The Witch screams eerily as if for intimation.		魔銃を構えるマミ。威嚇するかのように奇声を上げる魔女。
Witch:	Kishiyaaaatsu!!	魔女「キシヤアアアツ!!」
Mami attacks, guns blazing. The Witch dodges nimbly.		マミ、魔銃を連射。魔女は機敏に身をかわす。
Mami aims and fires, but not a single shot landed. The bullets embed themselves into the floor nearby.		マミの銃撃は狙いが甘く、一発として当たらない。外れた弾は次々と床にめり込んで止まる。
Sayaka:	Oh no, Mami is in trouble!	さやか「な、なにやってんのさマミさあん!」
Mami:	No, look again.	マミ「まあ、見てなさい」
Mami stops firing suddenly. The Witch, no longer having to dodge constantly, begins fighting back. It charges in full speed towards Mami.		ふいに銃撃を止めるマミ。魔女は回避から反撃に転じんとして、まっしぐらにマミへと肉薄する。
All at once, magic shoots out from all the bullets Mami has spread around the floor, entangling the Witch.		だがマミが床一面に撒き散らした魔銃の弾丸から、一斉に魔力の糸が噴き出し、網のように絡まって魔女の上に降りかかる。
Mami:	This is my——	マミ「これが、私のーー」
Witch:	Gii!?	魔女「ギイツ!?」
With a magical net bound tightly around her, the Witch has become immobile.		魔力の網でがんじがらめになり、身動きできなくなる魔女。
Mami transforms a musket into a giant launcher-shape weapon.		すかさずマミは武器をマスケット銃から大筒形態へと変形させる。
Mami:	Ultimate • Shoot!!	マミ「アルテイマ・シュート!!」
Enormous magical energy fires from the magical gun. Unable to dodge a direct hit, the Witch disappears in a scream of pain.		大魔力を放つ魔砲。避けられず直撃をくらった魔女は悲鳴とともに消滅していく。
Witch:	Giyaaaa!!	魔女「ギヤアアアツ!!」
The Barrier disappears along with the Witch, returning to the interior of the original abandoned building.		魔女消滅と同時に周囲の結界も崩壊し、もとの廃ビルの内装へと戻っていく。
Sayaka:	She... won?	さやか「か、勝った...の?」
Madoka:	Wow.	まどか「凄い...」
A broken piece of black jewel is left behind. Mami picks it up and shows it to the two girls.		後には、一欠片の黒い宝石が残される。マミはそれを拾い上げて、二人に見せる。
Mami:	This is a Grief Seed. It's a Witch's egg.	マミ「これが、グリーフシード。魔女の卵よ」
Sayaka:	E-Egg...?	さやか「た、卵...」
Mami:	If you're lucky, sometimes a Witch will have one.	マミ「運が良ければ、ときどき魔女が何個か持ち歩いてることがあるの」
Madoka and Sayaka cautiously observe it.		恐ろしげに観察するまどかとさやか。
Kyubey:	Don't worry. It's safe in this form. Actually, it's extremely useful.	キユウベえ「大丈夫。その状態では安全だよ。むしろ役に立つ貴重なモノだ」
Mami removes her Soul Gem to allow Madoka and Sayaka to inspect it.		マミはソウルジエムを取り出して、まどかたちに間近に観察させる。
Mami:	My Soul Gem is a bit darker than it was last night, right?	マミ「私のソウルジエム、ゆうべよりちょっと色が濁ってるでしょ?」
Madoka:	Oh. Yeah, it is...	まどか「そういえば...」
Mami:	However, by using a Grief Seed, look—— (It's all clean.)	マミ「でもグリーフシードを使えば、ほらーー」
Mami move the Grief Seed closer to her Soul Gem. The Grief Seed begins to siphon off the impurity from Mami's Soul Gem, which regains its original, crystal-clear brilliance.		ソウルジエムとグリーフシードを近づけるマミ。するとソウルジエムの濁りはグリーフシードへと吸い取られ、もとの透き通った輝きを取り戻す。
Sayaka:	Ah, it's beautiful again.	さやか「あっ、綺麗になった」
Mami:	See? Now the magic I've depleted has been replenished. This is one of the rewards I mentioned earlier.	マミ「ね?これで消耗した私の魔力も元通り。前に話した魔女退治の見返りっていうのが、これ」
With that explained, Mami tosses the Grief Seed into the dark side of the room.		説明してから、マミはやおらグリーフシードを部屋の一画の暗がりへと放り投げる。
Homura emerges, catching the Grief Seed mid-air. Sayaka and Madoka finally become aware of the presence of Homura, who has been lurking in the shadows.		飛んできたグリーフシードをキャッチするほむら。そこでようやく、まどかとさやかも、暗がりに潜んでいたほむらの存在に気付く。
Sayaka:	I-it's her!?	さやか「ぁ、あいつツ!?」
Mami:	You should able to use it one more time. You can have it, Akemi Homura-san.	マミ「あと一度ぐらいは使えるはずょ。あなたにあげるわ。暁美ほむらさん」
Homura:	...	ほむら「...」

Homura, expressionless, tosses the Grief Seed back to Mami.		ほむらは表情を一切変えず、グリーフシードをマミへと投げ返す。
Homura:	It was your prey. You should keep it for yourself.	ほむら「あなたの獲物ょ。あなただけのものにすればいい」
Mami:	I see... So that's your answer.	マミ「そう...それがあなたの答えね」
Mami, deciding that they're incompatible, turns grim.		マミ、決してほむらとは相容れないと感じて、表情を陰らせる。
Homura walks away silently.		無言のまま立ち去っていくほむら。
Sayaka:	That antisocial bitch!	さやか「く~つ,やっぱ感じ悪いいやっ!」
Madoka wants to say goodbye to Homura but gives up.		去っていくほむらを、いたたまれない想いで見送るまどか。
Madoka:	I wish we could all just get along...	まどか「仲良くできればいいのに...」
Mami:	If only everyone felt that same way...	マミ「お互いにそう思えれば、ね...」

Abandoned Building - Exterior

Abandoned Building - Exterior		廃ビルの外
Mami nurses the unconscious office lady. The Witch's stamp on her neck has disappeared.		意識を失っていたOLを介抱するマミ。首筋にあった魔女の刻印は消えている。
The office lady finally regains conscious, looks around curiously.		やがてOLは意識を取り戻し、不思議そうに辺りを見回す。
Office Lady:	Where... am I? ...	OL「ここは...あれ? 私は...」
Bewildered, she suddenly regains the memory of her attempted suicide and quivers with fear.		しばし戸惑うOLだが、自分が自殺しようとしていた記憶を取り戻し、恐怖に震え上がる。
Office Lady:	Wait, what was I doing? Why was I... Why did I do that...!?	OL「ゃ、やだっ、私、なんで...そんな! どうしてあんなこと...ッ!?」
Mami gently hugs the office lady, calming her from her panic.		パニックに陥るOLを、優しく抱きしめて落ち着かせるマミ。
Mami:	It's oaky. Everything's okay now. You were just having a bad dream.	マミ「大丈夫、もう大丈夫です。ちょっと悪い夢を見てただけですよ」
Madoka and Sayaka watch the scene from a distance.		その様子を、やや離れて見守るまどかとさやか。
Sayaka:	Looks like our hero saved the day.	さやか「一件落着、って感じかな」
Madoka:	Yeah...	まどか「うん...」
Madoka watches with longing, absorbing the profile of Mami embracing the office lady.		OLを慰めるマミの横顔を、憧憬の眼差しで見守るまどか。
Madoka:	(Voice Over) It's too hard for me to come up with a wish on such short notice, but the sight of Mami-san pouring her heart into saving others was really amazing——	まどかM『叶えたい願い事とか、私には難しすぎて、すぐには決められないけれどーーでも、人助けのために頑張るマミさんの姿は、とても素敵でーー』

Night. Madoka before bedtime.		夜、就寝前のまどか。
With the desk lamp on, Madoka busies herself at the draft magical girl costume in her notebook, putting finishing touches with color pencils.		勉強机にスタンドを点し、ノートに落書きした魔法少女のコスチューム案に、色鉛筆で仕上げをしている。
Madoka:	(Voice Over) If someone like me can really help other people, I think—— that'd be really nice.	まどかM 「んな私でも、あんな胤に誰かの役に収てるとしたら、それはとっても嬉しいなってーー思ってしまうのでした』
