Continuing from the previous episode.		前回より続き。
Sayaka cries as she watches her Soul Gem turn into a jet black Grief Seed.		漆黒のグリーフシードと化した自分のソウルジエムを眺めて、涙するさやか。
Sayaka:	(Whenever we pray for someone's happiness, someone else must be cursed in exchange.) I really was an idiot.	さやか「あたしって、ほんとパカ...」
The Grief Seed cracks and hatches. A Witch appears.		ひび割れ、孵化するグリーフシード。現れ出る魔女の姿。
Kyouko cries out as she's hit by a torrent of magical energy.		杏子、放出される魔力の奔流を浴びながら絶叫する。
Kyouko:	Sayaka!!	杏子「さやかああツ!!」
Sayaka's body falls to the ground		カなく地に転がるさやかの身体。
Meanwhile, a Barrier expands outward from the Grief Seed, swallowing up the surrounding scenery.		一方、グリーフシードは放出する魔力によって結界を展開し、周囲の景色を侵食していく。
Kyouko grabs ahold of Sayaka's body. Sayaka's Witch form appears before her eyes.		さやかの遺体を抱きかかえる杏子。その眼前で、いよいよ姿を現す魔女さやか。
Kyouko:	Grr!	杏子「くッ!」
Kyouko transforms and leaps back to a safe distance with Sayaka's body.		杏子、変身。さやかの遺体を抱えたまま飛び退いて距離を取る。
Witch:	Kishiyaaaa!!	魔女「キシヤアアア!!」
Sayaka Witch gives chase, reaching out towards Kyouko with a tentacle.		追いかけてくる魔女さやか。伸縮する触手で杏子を狙う。
Kyouko manages to defend the attack safely, but is unable to counterattack.		杏子、危なげなく防御するものの、反撃に移れない。
Kyouko:	What the...	杏子「何なんだよ...」
Kyouko cannot get over the shock of seeing a Witch emerge from Sayaka's Soul Gem.		ソウルジエムから魔女が現れたというショックから、立ち直れない杏子。
The Witch is relentless in her pursuit. Kyouko parries away one attack after another.		容赦なく追い打ちを繰り出してくる魔女に対し、杏子は防戦一方に。
Kyouko:	Who the hell are you!? What did you do to Sayaka!?	杏子「テメエいったい何なんだ!?さやかに何をしゃがったツ!?」
Homura, transformed, manages to break in the Barrier from outside.		そこへ結界を外から突き破り、乱入してくる魔法少女スタイルのほむら。
Homura:	Stand back!	ほむら「退がって!」
Kyouko:	...!?	杏子「ツ!?」
Homura instantly teleports, and simulataneously triggers a mysterious explosion in the Witch's bosom. (Time stop attack)		ほむら、瞬間移動。同時に魔女の懐で謎の爆発。(時間停止攻擊)
The Witch falls back in agony. Homura takes the opportunity to grab Kyouko.		苦悶し、怯む魔女。その隙にほむらは杏子に手を差し伸べる。
Homura:	Take my hand.	ほむら「掴まって」
Kyouko:	What—— ?	杏子「何をーー」
Homura:	Just do it!	ほむら「いいから!」
With Sayaka's body slung on her left shoulder, Kyouko reaches out to Homura with her right hand.		左腕にさやかの遺体を抱えたまま、右手でほむらに掴まる杏子。
Homura blocks the hourglass on her shield and stops its flow. Her time-stop magic activates.		ほむらの盾の砂時が遮断され、流れを止める。時間停止魔法が発動。
Everything around them suddenly stands still. Kyouko gasps in amazement.		いきなり静止する周囲の景色に、唖然とする杏子。
Kyouko:	Is this...	杏子「こいつは...」
Homura:	If you let go of my hand, you'll be frozen in time as well. So hold on tight.	ほむら「私から手を放したら、あなたの時間も止まってしまう。気をつけて」
Homura begins to run, leading Kyouko by the hand.		杏子の手を引いて走り出すほむら。
Kyouko:	...What the hell's going on? Where'd that Witch come from!?	杏子「...どうなってるんだよ?あの魔女は何なんだよ!?」
Homura:	That is what was once Miki Sayaka. ——You saw it happen yourself, did you not?	ほむら「かつて美樹さやかだったモノよ。ーーあなた、見届けたんでしょう?」
Kyouko:	...	杏子「...」
Homura declares with indifference. Kyouko falls silent and resentful.		冷然と言い放つほむら。恨めしげに黙り込む杏子。
Kyouko:	... Are we just gonna run away?	杏子「...逃げるのか?」
Homura:	If you don't like it, toss that useless hunk of meat aside and we'll kill it here and now. Can you do that?	ほむら「厭ならその余計な荷物を捨てて、今すぐあの魔女を殺しましょう。できる?」
Kyouko:	Like hell I can!	杏子「ふざけるなッ!」
Homura's ambivalence makes Kyouko yell out.		怒鳴る杏子を、冷ややかに一瞥するほむら。
Homura:	You're nothing but a burden to me right now. We should withdraw.	ほむら「今のあなたは、足手まといにしかならない。いったん退くしかないわ」
Kyouko:	...	杏子「...ツ」
Homura leads them out of the Barrier, returning to the space outside (Station at Night).		ほむらの先導で結界から脱する二人。外の空間(夜の駅ホーム)に戻る。
The Barrier's entrance disappears behind them.		二人の背後で消滅していく結界の開口部。

Night - Street

Night - Street		夜の街
A deserted street. Wary from her search for Sayaka, Madoka wanders around, her face downcast.		無人の街路。さやかの捜索に疲れ切り、悄然と俯いたまま歩いているまどか。
She suddenly looks up to see Kyouko and Homura walking toward her, Kyouko's gait heavy with Sayaka's body in her arms.		ふと顔を上げると、向こうから重い足取りでやって来る杏子とほむらの姿を見つける。杏子の両腕には、さやかの遺体が抱えられている。
Madoka:	Sayaka-chan!?	まどか「さやかちゃん」
Kyouko:	...	杏子「...ツ」
Kyouko has not noticed Madoka until just now, an awkward expression on her face.		遅れてまどかの存在に気付く杏子。気まずい表情に。
Madoka rushes up and clings to Sayaka's body.		駆け寄り、さやかの遺体にしがみつくまどか。
Madoka:	Sayaka-chan! What's wrong!? Where's her Soul Gem? What happened to Sayaka-chan?	まどか「さやかちゃん! ど、つしたの? ねえッ、ソウルジエムは?さやかちゃんはどうしたのげ」
Homura:	Her Soul Gem turned into a Grief Seed, giving birth to a new witch, and was no more.	ほむら「彼女のソウルジェムはグリーフシードに変化した後、魔女を産んで消滅したわ」
Sayaka's cold. Kyouko glares in anger.		凍りつくさやか。目を剥く杏子。
Madoka:	... No, you're lying, right?	まどか「...嘘、だよね?」
Homura:	It's the truth. That's the final secret of the Soul Gems.	ほむら「事実よ。それがソウルジエムの最後の秘密」
Homura shows her Soul Gem, continues with indifference.		自らのソウルジエムを見せて、淡々と続けるほむら。
Homura:	When these gems darken and cloud over, we turn into Grief Seeds and are reborn as Witches... That is the inescapable fate of all who become magical girls.	ほむら「この宝石が濁りきって黒く染まるとき、私たちはグリーフシードになり、魔女として生まれ変わる...それが魔法少女になった者の、逃れられない運命」
Madoka:	That's not true... It can't be true. Right?	まどか「嘘よ...嘘よね?ねえ?」
Madoka begs to Kyouko for help, but Kyouko remains chagrined and silent.		助けを求めるように杏子に問うまどか。だが杏子も悔しそうに沈黙するしかない。
Madoka:	But... how could that be? Sayaka-chan just want to save people from Witches. She just want to fight for what's right. That's the reason she became a magical girl. So why...	まどか「そんな...どうして?さやかちゃん、魔女から人を守りたいって、正義の味方になりたいって、そう思って魔法少女になったんだよ? なのに...」
Homura:	She just end up bearing a curse of equal magnitude to her wish. From now on, she will live to curse as many people as she had saved.	ほむら「その祈りに見合うだけの呪いを、背負い込んだまでのこと。あの子は誰かを救ったぶんだけ、これからは誰かを崇りながら生きていく」
Kyouko, after handing Sayaka's body back to Madoka, turns toward Homura, grabbing her by the collar.		杏子、抱えていたさやかの遺体をまどかの腕に預けると、ほむらに迫り、襟首を掴み上げる。
Kyouko:	Who... the hell do you think you are? Do you just get off on acting like you know it all?	杏子「テメエは...何様のつもりだ?事情通ですって自慢したいのか?」
Homura:	...	ほむら「...」
Homura watches with quiet indifference as Kyouko fumes in silence.		静かに激怒する杏子に対し、あくまで冷淡に黙り込むほむら。
Kyouko:	How can you stay so calm at a time like this? Sayaka was her... (Sayaka was her best friend.)	杏子「なんでそう得意げに喋ってられるんだ?こいつは、さやかの...」
"her best friend," was what Kyouko wants to say, but she's so angry that the words won't come out.		親友だったんだぞ、と言いたくも、怒りのあまり言葉にできない杏子。
Homura turns away from Kyouko as she speaks, looking in Madoka's direction instead.		ほむらは杏子の方を見ょうともせず、あくまでまどかに向けてだけ語りかける。
Homura:	I hope you understand now what it was that you aspired to become.	ほむら「今度こそ理解できたわね?あなたが憧れていたものの正体がどういうものか」
Madoka:	... ...	まどか「...ッ、...ッ」
Madoka whimpers, unable to answer, holding on to Sayaka tightly.		返事もできず、さやかを抱いて鳴咽するまどか。
Homura shakes off Kyouko's hand as she delivers a cold warning.		ほむら、杏子の手を振り払い、冷たく告げる。
Homura:	Now that you've brought her corpse along, you'll need to dispose of it carefully. If you just dump it somewhere, you'll run into trouble later.	ほむら「わざわざ死体を持ってきた以上、扱いには気をつけて。迂闊な場所に置き去りにすると後々厄介なことになるわよ」
Kyouko:	How can you even call yourself human!?	杏子「テメェ、それでも人間かげ」
Homura:	I can't, of ocurse. And neither can you.	ほむら「もちろん違うわ。あなたもね」
Kyouko:	...	杏子「...ツ」
Kyouko trembles with rage. Madoka breaks down in tears. Homura takes her leave.		怒りに震える杏子と、泣き崩れるまどかを残し、立ち去っていくほむら。

Madoka's Room

Madoka's Room		まどかの寝室
Night. Madoka sits on her bed in her pajamas, unable to sleep.		夜。眠れずにベッドの上で膝を抱えている、パジャマ姿のまどか。
Kyubey's shadow appears outside the window. It calls out.		窓の外に現れるキユウべえの影。念話で呼びかけてくる。
Kyubey:	——May I come in? I want to talk to you about something.	キユウベえ『ーー入っていいかい? 話があるんだ』
Madoka doesn't know what she can believe anymore. Even memory of Kyubey's death in last episode doesn't particularly faze her.		もはや何を信じていいのか解らなくなっているまどかは、前話で目の前で殺されたキユウベえが再登場したことにも無反応。
Madoka:	... So, you're alive after all.	まどか「...生きてたのね」
The curtains sway softly. Kyubey enters the room.		カーテンがふわりと揺れて、室内にキユウベえが入ってくる。
Madoka:	Was it true? What Homura-chan said.	まどか「ほむらちゃんが言ってたこと、本当なの?」
Kyubey:	There was nothing wrong enough to require correction.	キユウべえ「訂正するほど間違ってはいないね」
Madoka:	...	まどか「...」
Madoka has come to realize that Kyubey has been the cause of all this evil.		まどか、ついにキユウべえを諸悪の根源だと理解する。
She speaks, trying her best to restrain herself.		だが努めて抑えた声で続ける。
Madoka:	So you've been turning us into magical girls just so we'd become Witches?	まどか「じゃあ、あなたはみんなを魔女にするために、魔法少女に?」
Kyubey:	Please don't misunderstand. We don't do this out of ill will toward mankind. Certain unavoidable circumstances brought about this result.	キユウべえ「勘違いしないでほしいんだが、僕らはなにも人類に対して悪意を持っているわけじゃない。やむを得ない事情がこういう結果を招いてるんだ」
Madoka:	... "Circumstances"?	まどか「...事情って、何?」
Kyubey:	Everything we've done has been to extend the lifespan of the universe. —— Madoka, do you know the term "entropy"?	キユウベえ「全ては、この宇宙の寿命を延ばすためなんだ。ーーまどか、君はエントロピーっていう言葉を知ってるかい?」
Madoka:	I have heard that before, but I don't know much details...	まどか「聞いたことはあるけど、詳しくは...」
Kyubey:	To give a simple example, the amount of energy released by a bonfire is less than the amount it took to grow the wood it's made of. In short, when energy changes form, some of it gets lost. As a result, the amount of usable energy in the universe is constantly decreasing.	キユウべえ「簡単にたとえると、焚き火で得られる熱エネルギーは、木を育てる労力と釣り合わない、ってことさ。エネルギーは形を変換するごとにロスが住じる。宇宙全体のエネルギーは目減りしていく一方なんだ」
Kyubey continues to explain, not as a small adorable animal, but as a cunning alien that is its true nature.		キユウベえ、愛らしい小動物ではなく、狡猾な宇宙人としての本性を覗わせながら解説を続ける。
Kyubey:	That's why we searched for a form of energy not bound by the laws of thermodynamics, and what we discovered was the energy generated by magical girls.	キユウベえ「だから僕たちは、熱力学の法則に縛られないエネルギーを探し求めてきた。そうして見つけたのが、魔法少女の魔力だよ」
Madoka:	What... are you?	まどか「あなたは、一体...」
Kyubey:	Our civilization developed technology that could convert the emotions of sentient lifeforms into energy. But unfortunately, we ourselves did not possess the capability for emotion. So we studied various species across the universe and eventually found mankind.	キユウベえ「僕たちの文明は、知的生命体の感情をエネルギーに変換するテクノロジーを発明した。ところが生憎、当の僕らが感情というものを持ち合わせていなかった。そこでこの宇宙の様々な異種族を調査し、君たち人類を見出したんだ」
Kyubey:	Given your population and reproductive rate—— it's clear that the amount of emotional energy generated by each individual is greater than the amount expended during its birth and growth. Your souls are energy sources capable of defying entropy.	キユウベえ「人類の個体数と繁殖力を鑑みればーー一人の人間が生み出す感情エネルギーは、その個体が誕生し成長するまでに要したエネルギーを凌駕する。君たちの魂は、エントロピーを覆すエネルギー源たり得るんだよ」
Kyubey:	And the most effective of all are girls in their second stage of development, who experience the greatest fluctuations between hope and espair. At the moment when your Soul Gems flare out and turn into Grief Seeds, a tremendous amount of energy is produced. As Incubators, it is our job to collect that energy.	キユウベえ「とりわけ最も効率がいいのは、第二次性徴期の少女の、希望と絶望の相転移だ。ソウルジエムになった君たちの魂は、燃え尽きてグリーフシードへと変わるその瞬間に、膨大なエネルギーを発生させる。それを回収するのが、僕たちインキュベーターの役割だ」
Overcome by anger, Madoka yells, letting out all the emotions she has been holding back.		怒リのあまり、むしろ声から感情が抜け落ちてしまうまどか。
Madoka:	... Are we just disposable energy sources to you, then? Are you saying we should just die for you?	まどか「...わたしたち、消耗品なの? あなたたちのために死ねっていうの?」
Kyubey:	Do you have any idea how many civilizations coexist across the universe, and how much energy they consume in a single second? Eventually, even you humans will able to leave this planet and join us. When that day comes, you wouldn't want to venture out into an empty, desolated universe, right? In the long run, this arrangement benefits mankind as well.	キユウべえ「この宇宙にどれだけの文明がひしめき合い、一瞬ごとにどれほどのエネルギーを消耗しているか分かるかい? 君たち人類だって、いずれはこの星を離れて、僕たちの仲間入りをするだろう。そのときになって枯れ果てた宇宙を引き渡されても困るよね?長い目で見れば、これは君たちにとっても得になる取引のはずだよ」
Madoka:	You can't be serious...	まどか「馬鹿言わないで...」
Anger finally surfaces on Madoka's face.		ようやく怒りを面に出せるようになるまどか。
Madoka:	You're telling me that ridiculous reason is why Mami-san had to die and Sayaka-chan had to suffer so much..? That isn't right. It's just too cruel!	まどか「そんなわけの分からない理由で、マミさんが死んで、さやかちゃんがあんな目にあって...あんまりだよ。酷すぎるよ!」
Kyubey:	But we ask for and receive your consent for every contract we make. If anything, we've been very accommodating in that respect...	キユウベえ「僕たちはあくまで君たちの合意を前提に行動しているんだよ。それだけでも充分に良心的なはずなんだが...」
Madoka:	But you do it by tricking us!	まどか「みんな騙されてただけじゃない!」
Kyubey shakes its head out of surprise.		キユウベえ、呆れたようにかぶりをふる。
Kyubey:	The act of deception in itself is incomprehensible to us. Why is it that when humans regret a decision based on a misunderstanding, they feel resentment toward the other party?	キユウベえ「騙す、という行為自体、僕たちには理解できない。認識の相違から生じた判断ミスを後悔するとき、なぜか人間は他者を憎悪するんだよね」
Madoka:	... I can't even follow what you're saying. I can't accept it at all.	まどか「...あなたの言ってること、ついていけない。ぜんぜん納得できない」
Kyubey:	We have a pretty hard time understanding your value system too. Your current population numbers over 6.8 billion and grows by ten every four seconds, so why do you make such a fuss over the life or death of a few people?	キユウベえ「君たち人類の価値基準こそ、僕らは理解に苦しむなあ。今現在で68億人、しかも4秒に10人ずつ増え続けている君たちが、どうして単一個体の生き死にでそこまで大騒ぎするんだい?」
Madoka:	If that's how you think, then you really are our enemy.	まどか「そんな風に思ってるなら、やっぱりあなた、わたしたちの敵なんだね」
Kyubey sighs, somewhat disappointed.		やや切なそうに歎息するキユウベえ。
Kyubey:	Despite that, I did come here to try to explain our actions to you. I want you to understand how wonderful your sacrifices are... but it doesn't look like that'll happen.	キユゥベえ「これでも弁解に来たつもりだったんだよ。君たちの犠牲が、どれだけ素晴らしいものをもたらすか、理解してもらいたかったんだが...どうやら無理みたいだね」
Madoka:	... Of course not.	まどか「...当たり前でしょ」
Kyubey prepares to leave the same way it came. It turns back to add these final words.		キユウベえ、入ってきたのと同じようにして窓から去ろうとしながら、最後に振リ向いて付け足す。
Kyubey:	Madoka, someday you will become the greatest of all magical girls, and then the most terrible of all Witches. When that happens, I'm sure we will gain an unprecedented amount of energy. So, if you ever feel like dying for the sake of the universe, just let me know. I'll be waiting.	キュゥべえ「まどか。いつか君は最高の魔法少女になり、そして最悪の魔女になるだろう。そのとき僕らは、かつてないほど大量のエネルギーを手に入れるはずだ。ーーこの宇宙のために死んでくれる気になったら、いつでも声をかけて。待ってるからね」
Kyubey leaves without waiting for a response.		返事を待つことなく出て行くキユウべえ。
Left alone, Madoka holds her knees, drowning in tears.		後に残されたまどかは、膝を抱えたまま涙に暮れる。

Kyouko's Hideout

Late night. A luxury hotel room.		深夜。とある高級ホテルの一室。
Kyouko's hand hovers above Sayaka's body resting on the bed, slowly emitting magical power.		ベッドに寝かせたさやかの遺体に、手を翳し、ゆっくり魔力を放射している杏子。
Kyubey watches her from a dark corner of the room.		それを部屋の片隅の暗がリから、キユウベえが見守っている。
Kyubey:	Why are you so obsessed with keeping that body fresh?	キユウベえ「そうまでして死体の鮮度を保って、一体どうするつもりだい?」
Kyouko:	...	杏子「...」
Kyouko does not answer, leaves the bed, and sits down on the floor, leaning against a wall. Bags of junk food she has bought at a convenience store litter beside her.		杏子は答えず、ベッドから離れると、壁際の床に座り込む。傍らにはコンビニで買い込んだビニール袋一杯のジヤンクフード。
Kyouko gazes at Sayaka on the bed and starts to chew on some fried chicken and french fries in silence. Despite the luxury around her, Kyouko feels more at ease eating junk food.		ベッドのさやかを見据えたまま、黙々と唐揚げやらブライドポテトやらを食べ始める杏子。豪勢な部屋に寝泊まりしているくせに、食はジヤンクでなければ落ち着かない彼女である。
Kyouko:	... Is there any way to get her Soul Gem back?	杏子「...こいつのソウルジエムを取り戻す方法は?」
Kyubey:	Not that I know of.	キユウベえ「僕の知る限りでは、ないね」
Kyubey replies. Kyouko stops eating and stares at it carefully.		キユウベえの返事に、杏子は少しだけ食事の手を止め、鋭い視線を投げ返す。
Kyouko:	So there could be some way you don't know of?	杏子「そいつは、ォマエが知らないこともある、って意味か?」
Kyubey:	As magical girls, your existence already defies established logic. I wouldn't be surprised no matter what implausible feats you managed to accomplish.	キユウベえ「魔法少女は条理を覆す存在だ。君たちがどれほどの不条理を成し遂げたとしても、驚くには値しない」
Kyouko:	... So you're saying it's possible?	杏子「...できるんだな?」
Kyubey:	No one has ever done it before, so I don't know how you'd go about it. Unfortunately, I have no way of advising you on the matter.	キユウベえ「前例はないね。だから僕にも方法は分からない。生憎だが助言のしょうがないよ」
Kyouko:	I wouldn't need your advice anyway.	杏子「いらねーよ」
Kyouko spits in disgust and continues to wolf down more junk food.		吐き捨てるように言ってから、何かに挑むように荒々しくジヤンクフードを食らい続ける杏子。
Kyouko:	As if I'd ever accept help from you...	杏子「誰がテメエの手助けなんか借りるもんか...」

Morning - Road to School

Morning - Road to School		朝の通学路
Madoka walks along, dejected.		元気なくしょげたまま歩くまどか。
Hitomi looks particularly happy, walking beside her.		その一方で隣を歩く仁美はいかにも幸せそう。
Hitomi:	You're looking a bit unwell this morning, Madoka-san. Are you okay?	仁美「まどかさん、今朝は顔色が優れませんわ。大丈夫ですの?」
Madoka:	... Yeah. I just didn't get enough sleep...	まどか「...うん。ちょっと、寝不足でね...」
Hitomi:	Speaking of which, is Sayaka-san absent again today?	仁美「それにしても、今日もさやかさんはお休みかしら」
Madoka:	...	まどか「...」
Madoka stammers, unable to speak the truth.		さすがに真実を語れず、口ごもるまどか。
Hitomi:	I was thinking of going to see her after school... but I'm not sure if it'd be appropriate... Things are a bit awkward between us right now...	仁美「あとでお見舞いに行くべきかしら...でも私が行っていいのか...今ちょっと、さやかさんとはお話ししづらいんですが...」
Madoka:	Hitomi-chan, I...	まどか「仁美ちゃん、あのね...」
Before she can finish, telepathy from Kyouko reaches her mind.		言いかけたところで、まどかの脳裏に杏子からの念話が届く。
Kyouko:	How can you still go to school after everything that happened yesterday?	杏子『昨日の今日で、呑気に学校なんか行ってる場合かよ?』
Madoka:	...	まどか「...ツげ」
Madoka looks up, startled.		ぎょっとして空を振り仰ぐまどか。
Kyouko stands some distance away, on the roof of a mixed-use building.		やや離れた雑居ピルの屋上に、杏子の姿がある。
Meanwhile, Hitomi looks troubled by Madoka's strange behavior.		一方、まどかの不審な挙動を訪る仁美。
Hitomi:	... Madoka-san?	仁美「...まどかさん?」
Kyouko:	I need to talk to you. Do you have a minute?	杏子『ちょっと話があるんだ。顔貸してくれる?』
Madoka:	...	まどか「...」
After a moment of hesitation, Madoka decides to take up Kyouko's offer.		まどか、やや躊躇するものの、決意して杏子の誘いに乗ることにする。

Hitomi:	Huh? Ma- Madoka-san, wait..!	仁美「え? そんな、まどかさん、ちょっと...」
Before Hitomi can stop her, Madoka is already gone from the way to school.		仁美の制止も聞かす、通学路から駆け去るまどか。

Madoka and Kyouko meet face-to-face.		対面するまどかと杏子。
Madoka:	Um, what did you want to talk about..?	まどか「あの、話って...」
Kyouko:	Do you want to save Miki Sayaka?	杏子「美樹さやか、助けたいと思わない?」
Madoka gasps in surprise.		驚きに息を呑むまどか。
Madoka:	Huh? ... We can save her?	まどか「助けられる...の?」
Kyouko:	If we couldn't, were you going to just leave her like that?	杏子「助けられないとしたら、放っとくか?」
Madoka:	...	まどか「...」
Madoka is unsure how she should respond. Kyouko snickers uncomfortably seeing her response.		返事に詰まるまどか。それを見て杏子も気まずそうに失笑する。
Kyouko:	Sorry, that came out wrong. This may sound foolish... but I don't want to give up until we know for sure that she can't be saved.	杏子「妙な訊き方しちゃったね。バカと思うかもしれないけど...あたしはね、本当に助けられないのかどうか、それを確かめるまで諦めたくない」
Madoka:	...	まどか「...」
Madoka looks stunned to realize that Kyouko is serious about this. Kyouko is turning out to be a rather different person than she had imagined.		杏子があくまで本気なのを知り、呆然となるまどか。まどかが予想していた杏子の人柄とは、あまりにも落差がある。
Kyouko:	She may have turned into a Witch, but she might still able to remember her friends' voices. If you call out to her, she might regain her memories from when she was human... If anyone can do it, it'd be you.	杏子「あいつは魔女になっちまったけど、でももしかしたら、友達の声ぐらいは憶えてるかもしれない。呼びかけたら、人間だった頃の記憶を取り戻すかもしれない。それができるとしたら...多分、あんただ」
Madoka:	Do you think it'll work..?	まどか「上手くいくかな...」
Kyouko:	How would I know?	杏子「わかんねーょ。そんなの」
Kyouko flashes a desperate smile and answers rather bluntly.		ぶっきらぼうに応じてから、やや捨て鉢な笑みを浮かべる杏子。
Kyouko:	We're doing it because we don't know. Maybe if we slice that Witch in half, Sayaka's Soul Gem might fall out instead of a Grief Seed... Wouldn't that be something? It'd be like one of those stories where love and courage triumphs over all.	杏子「わかんないからやるんだよ。もしかして、あの魔女を真つ二つにしてやったらさ、中からグリーフシードの代わりに、さやかのソウルジエムがポロッと落ちてくるとかさ...そういうもんじゃん。最後に愛と勇気が勝つストーリーつてのは」
Madoka:	...	まどか「...」
Madoka is too stunned to respond while Kyouko laughs daringly.		呆気に取られるまどかを前に、杏子はあくまで不敵に笑う。
Kyouko:	Come to think of it... I probably became a magical girl in the first place because I loved stories like that. I'd totally forgotten about it, but Sayaka reminded me again.	杏子「あたしだって...考えてみたら、そういうのに憧れて魔法少女になったんだよね。すっかり忘れてたけど、さやかはそれを思い出させてくれた」
With those words, Madoka feels like she can trust Kyouko.		その独白で、まどかは杏子を信頼できると感じ取る。
Meanwhile, Kyouko returns to the main point with a serious expression.		一方で、真顔に戻って先を続ける杏子。
Kyouko:	If you don't wanna come, I won't force you. It's gonna be pretty dangerous, after all. I can't promise I'll be able to protect you for sure.	杏子「付き合いきれねえ、ってんなら無理強いはしない。けつこう危ない橋渡るわけだしね。あたしも、絶対何があっても守ってやる、なんて約束はできねーし」
Madoka:	No, I'll help you. Please let me help.	まどか「ううん、手伝う。手伝わせてほしい」
Madoka extends her hand out for a handshake.		握手を求めて、手を差し出すまどか。
Madoka:	I'm Kaname Madoka.	まどか「あたし、鹿目まどか」
Unaccustomed to introductions, Kyouko pauses for a moment, than bursts out laughing in amusement.		自己紹介、という発想がなかったせいで、杏子は一瞬きょとんとなり、それからさも可笑しそうに笑い出す。
Kyouko:	Jeez, you're so gonna cramp my style.	杏子「ツたくもう、調子狂うなあ。ホント」
Madoka:	... Huh?	まどか「...え?」
Kyouko:	I'm Sakura Kyouko. We're a team now.	杏子「佐倉杏子だ。よろしくね」
Instead of a hand shake, Kyouko hands a YUM! stick out to Madoka.		握手の代わりに、差し出されたまどかの手に「うまい棒」を乗せる杏子。
Madoka:	...?	まどか「...?」
Madoka looks puzzled by what Kyouko's actions mean.		杏子の意思表示についていけず、途方に暮れるまどか。
Madoka:	(O-Okay.)

Classroom in Session

Classroom in Session		授業中の教室
First period math class. A student tries to solve the question that the teacher has written on the blackboard.		一時限目の数学の授業。担当教論が黒板に書いた設問を生徒に解かせている。
The teacher glances at Madoka's seat as he takes attendance. Vacant, probably running late or something.		静かに授業を受けながら、ちらり、とまどかの席を窺い見る。空席で、遅刻して登校してくる様子もない。
Homura sighs and raises her hand.		歎息し、挙手して立ち上がるほむら。
Homura:	Excuse me. I don't feel very well. May I head to the nurse's office..?	ほむら「すみません、気分が優れませんので、保健室へ...」
Math Teacher:	Who's the health officer for this class?	数学教諭「んー、このクラスの保健委員は誰かね?」
Female Student	Kaname-san is out today.	女子生徒「鹿目さんは今日お休みでーす」
Math Teacher:	Well, the class rep should go with——	数学教諭「んん、では学級委員が連れ添いにーー」
Without waiting for the teacher's instruction, Homura has already left the classroom. The teacher and rest of the class can only watch in surprise.		教諭の指示などお構いなしに、一人で教室を出て行ってしまうほむら。唖然とそれを見送る教諭と生徒たち。

City Suburbs

City Suburbs		市街地郊外
Dusk. Kyouko and Madoka walk by rows of houses.		夕方の町並みを、二人連れ立つて歩くまどかと杏子。
With her Soul Gem in hand, Kyouko searches for any sign of a Witch. With her other hand she eats some yakitori.		片手に持ったソウルジエムの反応を手がかりに、魔女の気配を探して廻りながら、もう一方の手では焼き鳥を食べている。
Madoka:	I wonder if Homura-chan will help us out...	まどか「ほむらちゃんも、手伝ってくれないかな...」
Kyouko:	She wouldn't do something like that.	杏子「あいつはダメだ。そういうタマじゃないよ」
Madoka:	Isn't she your friend?	まどか「友達じゃないの?」
Kyouko:	No... Well, I guess you could say we have a common goal... We just teamed up in order to take down something enither of us could handle alone.	杏子「違うね。...そうさなあ、まあ利害の一致っていうか...お互い一人じゃ倒せないヤツと戦うために、つるんでるだけさ」
Madoka:	...	まどか「...」
Madoka looks at her questioningly, waiting for Kyouko to explain further.		不思議そうなまどかの眼差しを受けて、さらに説明を続ける杏子。
Kyouko:	In a few days, the Walpurgisnacht will come to this city.	杏子「あと何日かしたら、この街に『ワルプルギスの夜』が米る」
Madoka:	Walpurgis...?	まどか「ワルプルギス...?」
Kyouko:	The worst enemy of magical girls. The mother lode of all Witches. I doubt either of us could beat it on our own. That's why we teamed up, so to speak... Well, that's how it is between us.	杏子「あたしら魔法少女にとっては最悪の強敵、超弩級の大物魔女だ。あたしもアイツも、たぶん一人じゃ倒せない。だから共同戦線っていうか...まあ要するに、そういう仲なのさ」
Kyouko stops before a suspended construction site for a certain factory when she notice a reaction from her Soul Gem.		杏子、ソウルジエムの反応を覗いながら、とある休工中の建設現場で足を止める。
Kyouko:	... This is it.	杏子「...ここだな」
They step in after breaking the chain lock. A construction site with only the steel frames in place.		鎖の施錠を破り、中へと踏み込む二人。まだ鉄骨組みしかない建築現場。
Madoka:	I wonder if it really is Sayaka-chan... Could it be another Witch instead?	まどか「本当に、さやかちゃんかな...他の魔女だったりしないかな?」
Kyouko:	The magic patterns are the same as the one from yesterday. It's definitely her.	杏子「魔力のパターンが昨日と一緒だ。間違いなく、アイツだよ」
The scene becomes stagnant and disquieting, and Kyouko stops.		とある一画、あきらかに不穏な空気が澱んでいる場所で、立ち止まる杏子。
After discarding the piles of yakitori she has eaten, Kyouko transforms and readies her spear.		食べ終わった焼き鳥の出中を放り捨てて変身し、槍を構える。
Kyouko:	I'm going to ask this one more time... Are you really sure about this?	杏子「さて、改めて訊くけど...本当に覚悟はいいんだね?」
Madoka:	I'm kind of used to this already.	まどか「なんかもう、慣れっこだし」
A sheepish grin from Madoka as she answers, slightly chastened.		やや照れ笑いを見せつつ言ってから、しゅんと俯くまどか。
Madoka:	I'm always trailing behind others, never useful for anything... But please, take me with you.	まどか「わたし、いつも後ろからついてくばっかりで、役に立ったこと一度もないけど...でも、お願い。連れて行って」
Kyouko laughs at the situation.		その様子に、失笑する杏子。
Kyouko:	You're one strange girl, aren't you?	杏子「ほんと変なヤツだな。あんた」
Kyouko swings her spear to tear open an entrance into the Barrier.		杏子、槍を振り下ろし、結界の入口を引き裂く。
They step into the Barrier.		口を開ける異空間。その中へと踏み込んでいく二人。

Madoka and Kyouko follow the Barrier's labyrinth cautiously.		異界の迷路を、用心深く進むまどかと杏子。
Madoka:	Hey, Kyouko-chan..?	まどか「ねえ、杏子ちゃん...」
Kyouko:	Yeah?	杏子「あん?」
Madoka:	Am I a coward... for always leaving the fighting to others, and never doing anything myself..?	まどか「誰かにばっかり戦わせて、自分で何もしないわたしって...やっぱり、卑怯なのかな...」
Kyouko:	Why would you ever become a magical girl?	杏子「あんたが何で魔法少女になるわけさ?」
Madoka:	Why? Because...	まどか「何でって...」
Kyouko scrutinizes Madoka, who's mumbling a response to the question.		問われて口ごもるまどかを、ぎろり、と睨む杏子。
Kyouko:	Don't take this lightly. This isn't a job just anyone can do.	杏子「舐めんなよ。この仕事はね、誰にだって務まるもんじゃない」
Madoka:	But...	まどか「でも...」
Kyouko:	If you get to eat good food every day and live a happy life with your family, why would you give it all up to become a magical girl on some stupid whim? There's no way I'd allow that. I'd kick your ass before anyone else.	杏子「毎日美味いモン喰って、幸せ家族に囲まれて、そんな何不自由ない暮らしをしてるヤツがさ、ただの気まぐれで魔法少女になろうとするんなら、そんなの、あたしが許さない。いの一番にぶつ潰してやるさ」
Madoka:	...	まどか「...」
Madoka falls silent, awed by Kyouko's attitude.		杏子の荒々しい剣幕に、気圧されて黙り込むまどか。
Kyouko softens her tone somewhat and continues her lecture.		だが杏子はやや口調を緩め、諭すように先を続ける。
Kyouko:	The only people who should put their own lives in danger are those who've got no other choice. Anyone else is just playing around. It's beyond moronic.	杏子「命を危険に晒すつてのはな、そうするしか他に仕方ないヤツだけがやることさ。そうじゃないヤツが首を突っ込むのは、ただの遊びだ。おふざけだ」
Madoka:	Is that how it is..?	まどか「そうなのかな...」
Kyouko:	Someday, you might end up having to fight for your life whether you want to or not. You should think about it when that time comes.	杏子「あんただっていつかは、否が応でも命懸けで戦わなきゃならない時がくるかもしれない。そのときになって考えればいいんだよ」
Madoka:	... Okay.	まどか「...うん」
Madoka nods. At the end of the day, Madoka understands that Kyouko's lecture is not about being weak and appreciates her kindness.		頷くまどか。結局のところ、まどかには何の引け目もないと諭すための説教だったのだと理解して、杏子の優しさを理解する。
Madoka:	Kyouko-chan, why did you...	まどか「杏子ちゃんは、どうして...」
Kyouko motions Madoka to stop.		言いかけたまどかを手で制し、足を止める杏子。
Kyouko:	—— She knows we're here. Here she comes!	杏子「ーー気付かれた。来るぞ」
Coming out of the Barrier's core, the Witch appears before them.		結界の奥から、二人の前に姿を現す魔女。
It's an eerie figure, and not a trace of Sayaka remains. An uncountable number of tentacles grow out from it.		もはやさやかであった痕跡など微塵もない、無数の触手を伸ばす不気味な姿に成り果てている。
Madoka trembles, horrified by what she sees. Kyouko observes the Witch with the calmness of a veteran.		まどかがそのおぞましさに震え上がる一方で、杏子は冷静な戦士の眼差しで魔女を見据えている。
Kyouko:	—— Let's do this like we planned, okay?	杏子「ーーいいな。打ち合わせ通りに」
Madoka:	Ri-Right...	まどか「つ、うん」
Madoka summons up her courage and stands before the Witch.		勇気を振り絞り、魔女の前に身を晒すまどか。
Madoka:	Sayaka-chan, it's me... It's Madoka. Can you hear me? Do you recognize my voice?	まどか「さやかちゃん、わたしだよ...まどかだよ!ねえ、聞こえる? わたしの声が分かる?」
Witch:	Gu... Ga...	魔女「グ...ガ...」
The Witch shoots out a tentacle at Madoka in a ruthless attack.		魔女、容赦なく触手を繰り出してまどかを襲おうとする。
Madoka cowers. Kyouko jumps before her to parry away the tentacle with her spear.		身を竦めるまどか。だが寸前で杏子がその前に立ちはだかり、触手を槍で振り払う。
Kyouko:	Stay strong. Keep calling out to her!	杏子「怯むな! 呼び続けろ」
Madoka:	... ... Sayaka-chan, stop it... Please remember. I know you never wanted to hurt anyone!	まどか「...ッ...さやかちゃん、やめて...お願い、思い出して!こんなこと、さやかちやんだって嫌だった筈だよ!」
The Witch relentlessly attacks. Kyouko uses her spear to defend against them all.		立て続けに繰り出される魔女の攻撃。そのすべてを槍で防御する杏子。
Behind Kyouko, Madoka continues to call out with desperation.		杏子の背後で、まどかは必死に呼びかけ続ける。
Madoka:	You wanted to be a hero, right, Sayaka-chan? You wanted to become just like Mami, right? So please... Please go back to your old self!	まどか「さやかちゃん、正義の味方になるんでしょ?マミさんみたいになりたかったんでしょ!?ねえ、お願い...もとのさやかちゃんに戻って!」
Witch:	Gaaaa, Gaaa!	魔女「ガアアアッ、ガアアアアッ!」
The Witch's attacks only intensify.		激しさを増す魔女の攻撃。
Judging that this is getting them nowhere, Kyouko shifts from defense to counterattack.		このままでは埒があかないと判断した杏子、防御からカウンターを繰り出し反撃に移る。
Kyouko:	... Being stubborn will only get you so far, Sayaka!	杏子「...聞き分けがねえにも程があるぜ、さやか!」
Kyouko cuts off some of the Witch's tentacles with her spear.		魔女の触手を切り裂いていく杏子の槍。
With Madoka behind her, Kyouko cannot move as agilely as she would like.		だが背後にまどかを庇っているせいで、いつもの機敏な動きができない。
One of the tentacles grabs ahold of Kyouko.		ついに触手の一本が、杏子の肩口を切り裂く。
Kyouko:	Ugh!	杏子「ぐっッ!」
Madoka:	Kyouko-chan!	まどか「杏子ちゃん!?」
Madoka cries out as Kyouko pushes back.		悲鳴を上げるまどかを、手で制する杏子。
Kyouko:	I'm fine... This is nothing... You keep calling. Keep calling out to Sayaka...	杏子「大丈夫...この程度、へでもねえ...あんたは、呼びかけろ。呼び続けろ。さやかを...」
Madoka:	Stop it! Stop it! Sayaka-chan, open your eyes!	まどか「やめてッ、もうやめて!さやかちゃん、わたしたちに気付いて!」
Witch:	Gaaaaa!	魔女「ガアアアアッ!」
Madoka speaks in vain. The Witch's attack intensifies.		まどかの声も虚しく、激しさを増す魔女の攻撃。
Kyouko is struggling. Her legs and arms are all wounded.		ひたすら奮闘する杏子だが、脚に、腕に、次々と傷を負う。
Kyouko laughs with abandon despite the pain.		激痛に耐えながら、不敵に笑う杏子。
Kyouko:	So you finally got the chance to pay me back, huh? I guess we did try to kill each other at first...	杏子「はっ、いつぞやのお返しかい? そういえばあたしたち、最初は殺し合う仲だったつけねえ...」
With her escape routes sealed off, Kyouko gets cornered.		次第に追い詰められ、動きを封じられていく杏子。
Despite all the damage she's taking, her fighting spirit remains.		だがいくらダメージを負おうとも、その戦意は衰えない。
Kyouko:	I thought you'd be a wuss... But no matter how much I beat on you, you always got right back up...	杏子「生温いって...あのとき、あたしがもっとぶちのめしても、あんたは立ち上がってきたじゃんかよォ...」
Unable to defend anymore, the Witch mercilessly beats Kyouko down with tentacles.		もはや防戦一方の杏子。そんな彼女を容赦なく打ちのめす魔女の触手。
But Kyouko does not scream and continues to speak calmly.		だが杏子は悲鳴一つ上げず、穏やかに語リかける。
Kyouko:	... You're mad, aren't you? You can't accept what's going on, right? I know how you feel... So let it out as much as you like. I can take it... Come back to us when you feel better... Okay?	杏子「...怒ってんだろ? 何もかも許せないんだろ? 解るよ...だからさ、好きなだけ暴れなよ。付き合ってやるからさ。...それで、気が済んだら、目ェ覚ましなよ...な?」
The Witch diverts a tentacle from Kyouko and closes in on Madoka from behind.		だが横合いから杏子を迂回した触手の何本かは、後ろに控えるまどかへと迫る。
It captures Madoka, grabbing her by the legs. Madoka cowers in fear, her courage wavers, freezes in place.		まどかの脚に絡みつき、捉える触手。恐怖に身を竦ませるまどかだが、勇気を振リ絞り、その場に踏み止まる。
Madoka:	... Sayaka-chan, please..	まどか「...さやかちゃん、お願いだから...」
The tentacle reaches Madoka's head as she pleads, strangling her and stifling her voice.		訴えかけるまどかの首にも触手が絡む。息を詰まらせ、声を出せなくなるまどか。
Seeing Madoka struggling, Kyouko clenches her teeth in frustration.		まどかの窮状に気付き、歯噛みして焦る杏子。
Sayaka:	... Sayaka!	杏子「...さやかアツ!!」
Kyouko, with all she can muster, shakes off all the tentacles forcefully and dashes forth to attack the Witch's main body.		杏子、渾身の力で触手を振り払い、魔女の本体へと攻撃を仕掛ける。
Kyouko:	You... said you believed this power could make people happy!	杏子「あんた...信じてるって言ってたじゃないか!カで人を幸せにできるって!」
Kyouko attacks, desperate. She deals critical damage to the Witch, but receives a fatal belly wound in return.		杏子、捨て身の攻撃。魔女に大ダメージを与えるが、自らも腹に致命傷を負う。
Tears of helplessness flow down as Kyouko thrusts her spear at the Witch.		無力感に悔し泣きしながらも、魔女に槍を突き玄てる杏子。
Kyouko:	Please, God... After all I've been through... I deserve a lucky break, even if it's just this one time...	杏子「頼むよ、神様...こんな人生だったんだ...せめて一度ぐらい、幸せな夢を見させてよ...」
Strangled by the tentacle, Madoka has already lost conscious.		触手による首絞めで、既に意識を失っているまどか。
The tentacle is suddenly torn open, releasing Madoka. It's the work of Homura, who has finally reached the Barrier.		だがふいに彼女を提えていた触手が切り裂かれ、解放される。遅れて結界に踏み込んできたほむらの仕業である。
Homura picks up Madoka, unconscious, and starts to head back to assist Kyouko.		気絶したままのまどかを抱き上げ、杏子を助太刀しようとするほむら。
Homura:	Kyouko!	ほむら「杏子!」
Kyouko:	... Hey...	杏子「...よぉ...」
With one look at the bloody mess that is Kyouko, Homura knows it's already too late for her.		血まみれの杏子の姿を見て、既に手遅れだと知るほむら。
Homura:	Are you...	ほむら「あなた...」
Kyouko:	Take care of her... I made her go along with my idiocy..	杏子「その子を、頼む...あたしのバカに、付き合わせちまった...」
Homura hesitates over whether to help Kyouko.		杏子を助けに行かなければと、一瞬だけ躊躇するほむら。
Kyouko raises a hand in refusal.		だが杏子の方がそれを手で拒む。
Kyouko:	You should never fight with a burden, right? It's fine. That's the right choice.	杏子「足手まといを連れたまま戦わない主義だろ? いいんだよ。それが正解さ」
Homura:	...	ほむら「...ツ」
Kyouko:	Just focus on the one thing you really want to protect and keep it safe 'til the end... It's funny. All this time, that's what I thought I was doing...	杏子「ただひとつだけ守りたいモノを、最後まで守り通せばいい...ハハ、何だかなあ。あたしだって、今までずっとそうしてきたはずだったのに...」
Homura:	...	ほむら「...」
Kyouko knows her time has come. Homura inclines her head out of pity.		杏子が死を覚悟していると知り、痛ましさに項垂れるほむら。
Kyouko:	... Go. I'll take care of her.	杏子「...行きな。こいつは、あたしが引き受ける」
A gloomy nod, Homura escapes with Madoka in her arms.		沈鬱に頷いてから、まどかを抱えたまま走り去るほむら。
Kyouko cuts away a tentacle that's following them with her spear.		その背中を追おうとした魔女の触手を、杏子の槍が切り払う。
Kyouko:	Don't worry, Sayaka... I know you don't want to be alone...	杏子「心配すんなよ、さやか...あんただけ置き去リにしゃしないって...」
Kyouko summons what's left of her to confront to Witch.		最後の力を振り絞り、魔女と対峙する杏子。
Witch:	Kishaaaa...	魔女「キシャアアア...」
The Witch bends over to prey on Kyouko.		一気に杏子を捕食しようと、のしかかってくる魔女。
Kyouko makes no effort to avoid the attack and is captured. Kyouko holds her Soul Gem tightly and releases all its magical power at once.		杏子は避けずに、魔女に捕らえられた上で、ソウルジエムを握リしめ、ありったけの魔力を解放する。
The Witch shrieks out of fear of the glow from Kyouko's Soul Gem.		杏子のソウルジエムの輝きに、怯えたよう呻く魔女。
Witch:	Gigigigi...	魔女「ギギギギ...」
Kyouko:	It's okay... I'll be here with you, Sayaka...	杏子「独りぼっちは、寂しいもんな...いいよ。一緒にいてやるよ。さやか...」
Kyouko picks up the head of her spear and uses it to pierce her Soul Gem, causing it to erupt.		杏子、槍の穂を短く持ち直して、暴走する自らのソウルジエムに突き立てる。
A fierce explosion, swallowing the Witch and Kyouko in a blinding light.		壮絶な爆発。光に呑み込まれる杏子と魔女。

Homura runs through the Barrier's labyrinth.		結界の迷路を駆け抜けるほむら。
The surrounding Barrier quivers and returns back to the original construction site.		その周囲で、異界の景色がゆらぎ、もとの建築現場の光景に戻る。
Homura:	...	ほむら「...」
Homura stands still.		立ち止まるほむら。
Only Madoka and Homura return safely to normal space.		だが無事に通常空間に戻ってきたのは、まどかとほむらの二人だけ。
Homura:	Kyouko...	ほむら「杏子...」

Homura's Apartment

Homura sits downcast next to a low dining table, alone.		独り、卓袱台の前で頭を抱えているほむら。

Homura:	... Was there really any chance for Sakura Kyouko to save Miki Sayaka?	ほむら「...佐合杏子には、本当に美樹さやかを救える望みがあったの?」
Homura says, as if talking to herself. Kyubey, who has been lurking in the shadows, responds.		独り言のように呼びかけるほむらに、部屋の片隅の闇に潜むキユウべえが応じる。
Kyubey:	Of course not. She should have known that it was impossible.	キユウベえ「まさか。そんなの不可能に決まってるじゃないか」
Homura:	Why didn't you stop her, then?	ほむら「なら、どうしてあの子を止めなかったの?」
Kyubey:	I would have stopped her from needlessly sacrificing herself, of course. But in this case, getting her out of the picture served an important purpose.	キユウベえ「もちろん無駄な犠牲だったら止めただろうさ。でも今回、彼女の脱落には大きな意味があったからね」
Kyubey jumps on the map laying on the table.		キユウべえ、卓袱台の地図の上に飛び乗り、
Kyubey:	Now you're the only magical girl left to face the Walpurgisnacht. And it goes without saying that there's no way you can win alone. ——If this city is to be saved, Madoka has no choice but to become a magical girl.	キユウべえ「これでもう、ワルプルギスの夜に立ち向かえる魔法少女は君れだけしかいなくなった。もちろん一人では勝ち目なんてない。ーーこの街を守るためには、まどかが魔法少女になるしかないわけだ」
With Kyubey smiling before her, Homura stares with fierce determination and answers.		笑うキユウベえを前にして、ほむらは強い決意の眼差しで断言する。
Homura:	... I will never let that happen. I swear it.	ほむら「...やらせないわ。絶対に」
