Gen Urobuchi (虚淵) is a writer at Visual Novel company Nitro+, he was born December 20, 1972 in Japan and made his debut with writing the scenario of visual novel ''Phantom of Inferno'', which was later adapted into a movie and OVA series. He is known for writing especially gruesome stories. He was called by Iwakami when Shinbo expressed his desire to work on a original Magical Girl anime to work on a project which was later called Puella Magi Madoka Magica.
