Story
In Puella Magi Oriko Magica: Sadness Prayer, Chika Masumi makes it her duty to avenge her late friend Hikari Ayano by killing her killer, the "black magical girl". With only a brief description, Chika mistakenly attacks Homura Akemi in volume 3 until Homura escapes, leading Kyubey to find Chika and have her join a group centered around taking out the black magical girl.
Chika next appears in volume 4 after she spots Oriko Mikuni, recognizing her as a Magical Girl and asks if she is also late to the hunt for the black magical girl. Before she can get an answer, Chika is killed by one of Oriko's orbs.
Etymology
The characters of her first name, "千" and "花", mean "thousand" and "blossom" respectively.
The characters of her surname, "真" and "澄", mean "truth" and "clarity" respectively.
Trivia
- Her name was rendered as Chihana Masumi in the official translation of Oriko Magica: Sadness Prayer, except for one place at the beginning of volume 4 which used the correct rendering.
