Karin Misono reflects on her life. She is the Magical Girl born of Halloween: Magical Karin. She has come a long way since Phantom Thief Karin, stealing from others. Though her friend says she is lacking, she is getting better at manga.

Karin finds herself in a strange prison city. A voice narrates her situation. She is sentenced to 1,900 years for stealing Grief Seeds. She tries to remember how she got there. She recalls her name, her school, her hobbies, and her Art Club friend who criticizes her manga. She cannot remember anything after that. She thinks it is a dream or a Witch's illusion. The narrator warns that if she cannot escape, she will wither to dust. She meets her prison buddies: Maple Syrup (Kaede), Gurokawa Teddy (Ashley), and Mameji's Owner (Riko). They plan to escape together.

They attempt to dig a hole to escape. Guards perform random inspections. They avoid Momoko, who is a guard. They dig for half a year and finally escape the prison itself. But they are caught by Warden Yachiyo and sent to a special prison. Karin wakes up in the art room and remembers this is the manga she was working on.

Karin realizes the prison is from her manga. She feels guilty about stealing Grief Seeds in the past. She became a Magical Girl to cure her grandma's stealing disorder. Her power was stealing. She called herself Phantom Thief Karin and stole Grief Seeds from strong Magical Girls to give to weaker ones. Yachiyo caught her and told her she was indirectly trying to kill other Magical Girls. She realized Phantom Thief Magical Kirin would never do that. She quit and became Magical Karin.

In the dream, the group discusses how to escape. They plan to get a trading card with Rena's favorite idol to trade for the key. They collect candy for a year by doing penal labor for other prisoners. They get the card and trade it for the key. They escape to the city.

In the city, they join a resistance group. The guards find their hideout. Karin is suspected of being a spy. They escape again. They find a harbor but discover the ocean is painted on a wall. Warden Yachiyo reveals the city is shielded by a dome. There is no outside. Karin realizes she never thought about how the characters would escape in her manga.

Kaede suggests the guards go on trips, so there must be a hidden station. They break out again and find Mitama for information. She refuses to help but hints they can follow Momoko on her trip. They follow Momoko to a camouflaged station. They board a train, but it circles back to the same station. They break the window and jump out. They land in a white void. Yachiyo says there is no outside because the creator has not drawn anything yet. Kaede reveals she is a spy guard. Karin's friends are caught. The guards reveal the vacations were a lie to give false hope. Karin wants to go home.

Karin wakes up. She is confused and thinks Kaede is a traitor. A friend messages her, asking if her sketchbook was different. Karin realizes the colors were swapped. Her friend explains she got caught up in a Rumor. Karin decides to continue drawing her manga from where the dream left off. The next morning, she asks Alina to look at her new pages.
