It is one of three spin-offs that have been released after the premiere of ''[[Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Rebellion]]'', with the other two being ''[[Puella Magi Oriko Magica: Sadness Prayer]]'' and ''[[Puella Magi Suzune Magica]]''.

''Tart Magica'' began serialization in ''[[Manga Time Kirara Magica]]'' vol. 10 on November 8, 2013, following the conclusion of Golden Pe Done's previous series, ''[[Puella Magi Madoka Magica: Homura's Revenge!]]'' in volume 9. A total of five collected volumes were released: volume 1 collecting chapters 1-4, volume 2 collecting chapters 5-8, volume 3 collecting chapters 9-12, volume 4 collecting chapters 13-16 and volume 5 collecting chapters 17-21.

:Just when a French victory at Patay seemed in hand, the fallen English magical girl surges back into action as a terrifying witch!
