So I just recently bought the manga, and apparently Kyubey is called "Cube" in the story (which I assume is pronounced the same way). --The Witch's House 02:15, 25 April 2015 (UTC)
Tart Magica Witches
Witches that appear in vol. 1 of the manga; no given names, natures, or types yet (in order of appearance). -- The Witch's House 08:57, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
-
1st witch seen in the prologue; it has an owl head on top and a doll-like head on the bottom.
-
First witch encountered by Tart pre-contract. It resembles a bell with butterfly wings (basically a fairy bell)
-
Fairybell witch's familiars
-
Witch encountered by Tart and Riz during training. Resembles a dragon body-wise with a sun for a head.
-
Witch encountered and defeated by Tart post-contract; its body is made up of vines.
"Darc" Magica
Tart Magica Main Quest (Part I) was announced today for Magia Exedra and is currently labelled as "Darc Magica" in its official English X/Twitter site, like how Tart is now being Darc. Should we start redirecting pages to "Darc Magica" as it is the current international name, or do we keep the title as "Tart Magica"?
Thanks! RaviaVee (talk) 13:17, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
- i vote no, since exedra still calls it "tart magica", and the protagonist being called "darc" is entirely an invention of aniplex's english translation team. "puella magi darc magica" does not exist. that is not what the manga is called; trying to look for "darc magica" will bring up nothing. Onitora (talk) 14:58, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
- No, "Darc" is not entirely just an invention of Aniplex's localization team. It's an entirely valid choice when considering the historical context of the name, taking only the katakana as source. The original manga shows the intended Romanization only once as far as I know, so if they miss that (or choose to ignore it), it's totally reasonable for them to choose "Darc" to be more recognizable to English speakers. Localization is an art, not a science. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 02:54, 7 March 2026 (UTC)
- No, this page is about the manga itself, which was localized into English by Yen Press as Tart Magica. Darc Magica is what Exedra and NA MR used as localization in-game but 'Darc Magica' as a manga does not exist. Igimagica (talk) 15:26, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
- I think I'd agree on this matter – we can redirect Darc Magica to someplace relevant (the manga page? the Exedra event page?), but as long as the official localization of the manga uses "Tart", that's the most sensible name to use for that page, even if other official localizations of the same story disagree. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 02:54, 7 March 2026 (UTC)
