Talk:Ryushinkan Dojo

From what I can tell, the name of the dojo translates to "True-Dragon Dojo". Does that seem worth mentioning? I'm not 100% sure about it though, since "ryuu" appears twice… ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 18:15, 19 October 2025 (UTC)
- Also, could someone please add the kanji? ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 18:33, 19 October 2025 (UTC)
- The style is Ryunshinryu (amount of u's depending on romanization style), but the dojo is, at least in Exedra, called Ryushinkan:

- So, what about my translation? What (if anything) should I do with that? ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 20:11, 19 October 2025 (UTC)
- I dunno Japanese I'm just good at lookin. Also the official romanization uses just one u in ryu, not ryuu EPF (talk) 20:45, 19 October 2025 (UTC)
- According to Wiktionary, 流 has a long U… but we can of course conform to the official romanization if that's preferred. (There are tons of other official romanizations that ignore the long U anyway.) ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk)
- As I said, different romanization styles. There are styles that transcribe the vowels "directly" with no diacritics, there are styles that transcribe the vowels with macrons to indicate long vowels, and ones that skip any indication of length whatsoever. PMMM usually gravitates towards skipping vowel length (Kyouko -> Kyoko, Ooba -> Oba), but not always (Touka, Hiiragi). Ryu(u)shinkan is one of the cases where they skip length indication EPF (talk) 21:45, 19 October 2025 (UTC)
