Madoka Magica Mobage Story The Hollow Little Mermaid
The Hollow Little Mermaid (虚ろな人魚姫 Utsurona ningyo hime) was a Sayaka-centric limited time event in Puella Magi Madoka Magica Mobage from November 29th and December 7th of 2011. Four new magical girls appear in the scenario, named Elise, Claire, Hiyori and Komachi, being a team of magical girls from an unknown City.
Summary
Prologue
The chapter begins with the Holy Sextet defeating some familiars. Madoka remarks that Sayaka looks pale, asking if she is okay. Sayaka responds that she is fine, confused by Madoka's concern. Kyoko tells her that no matter how fast she can heal, her magic will slowly take its toll. Sayaka yells at her, telling Kyoko that she shouldn't focus on how Sayaka fights. Mami separates them before they can start to fight, saying that they should focus on taking out witches instead of each other. Madoka agrees, asking them not to fight. The Player thinks that Sayaka must not be taking the news about their souls well. Mami says that everyone should head home and rest. As Sayaka begins to leave, however, she sees someone on top of a building. The figures disappear and Sayaka thinks that she must have been imagining it.
On top of the building, four mysterious girls watch over the Holy Sextet. One of them remarks how good a city Mitakihara seems to be, and another points out that the Holy Sextet seems to be the protectors of the city. The leader responds that they can probably take a beating and the last one asks if they can just fight witches. The first one argues that she would like to fight magical girls and the leader interjects that any fighting will come in due time, adding that they should greet the witches of the city before anything else.
Chapter 1: Even Though I Shouldn't Feel Regret
Mami greets Madoka and the Player while they walk to school. Mami asks where Sayaka is and Madoka answers that she isn't feeling well. As she says this, Sayaka appears behind them and says that she is feeling fine now. Madoka starts to talk but trails off, Sayaka reassuring her that she is fine. The Player sees a new face, and Madoka tells her that the "new face" is Kyosuke. Madoka encourages Sayaka to talk to him, but she adamantly refuses.
Chapter 2: Will You Follow Your True Feelings?
Sayaka flashes back to Hitomi confronting Sayaka about her feelings for Kyosuke. She asks Sayaka to be true to her feelings if she truly wants Kyosuke before leaving. In the present, the Player and Madoka ask Sayaka if they can accompany her on her witch hunt. Kyoko, Mami and Homura ask her as well, saying that they don't want Sayaka to be alone. Sayaka, depressed, says she isn't worth their time.
After killing familiars, Sayaka opens up about her feelings. She says that she contemplated what would have happened if she didn't save Hitomi that day. She calls herself a scumbag and a fraud, unworthy of anything. She reveals that Hitomi is taking Kyosuke, and cries that there is nothing she can do as a zombie. Silently, the Player thinks about the truth of being a magical girl and the consequences it has.
Chapter 3: Who Are You?
The Player encourages Sayaka to calm down and not to push herself during the fight with Elsa Maria. As Kyoko jumps in to save her, the mysterious girls from earlier appear. The leader reveals herself as Elise and that she will be taking over the Holy Sextet's territory. As Sayaka protests, Elise says that she will show them just how weak they are.
Elise is able to defeat Elsa Maria in one hit. She tells the group to give up on Mitakihara and leave now that they know the difference in their power. As Mami prepares to fight, Elise says they only came to greet them. Madoka asks why they can't work together, and Elise reiterates that the power difference between them is too large to work together. Homura asks what will happen if they refuse to leave, and Elise responds that they will use force. As Sayaka prepares to lunge, Elise recognizes Sayaka's face and leaves, muttering that there are familiar faces in Mitakihara. The Player wonders what she is talking about.
Chapter 4: Magical Girl vs. Magical Girl
The Holy Sextet fights against Komachi, one of Elise's cohorts. She loses and Kyoko tells her to leave, which Komachi refuses to do. Sayaka says that Komachi is an eyesore and orders her to leave. Komachi says that they have no plans to leave Mitakihara, and both Homura and the Player ask her goal. Komachi doesn't answer and Sayaka says that what she says doesn't matter since she will just fight anyone who gets in the Sextet's way anyway. The Player thinks about how scary Sayaka has become and encourages her not to use too much magic or her soul gem will accumulate impurities, to which Sayaka responds that she doesn't care. Komachi leaves, and both Mami and Kyoko remark about how they will probably fight them in the future.
Chapter 5: Why Do We Fight?
Hiyori, one of Elise's friends, loses to the Sextet. As the Player thinks about how she doesn't want to fight other magical girls, Sayaka begins to laugh and say that she can easily kill her pain. As Madoka begins to worry, Elise appears and says Sayaka seems to have more problems than just physical pain. Elise asks how much longer the Sextet plans to hinder them, and Kyoko responds that they will keep fighting until they drop dead. The Player asks Kyubey if he can do anything to force Elise and her friends out of Mitakihara, and Kyubey responds that there is nothing he can do. On top of that, Komachi adds that they will not leave Mitakihara no matter what. Mami responds that she won't let them do what they want in her city, and Elise says that they won't stop. This causes the Player to question just what Elise is doing in the city and her plan. Elise says that she will fight the Sextet as many times as necessary, and Sayaka says she will do the same. Elise murmurs that "she" is determined, stubborn and a tryhard, just like Elise. Sayaka asks who she is talking about, and Elise responds that it should be obvious. Elise and her friends leave, and the Player despairs that they have to keep fighting other magical girls.
Chapter 6: What Are You Fighting For?
While patrolling for witches, the Player spots Sayaka in the park. She asks Sayaka what she is doing, and Sayaka jumps in surprise. Player notices Hitomi and Kyosuke in the distance, and Sayaka says its none of the Player's business. The Player continues to press her, and Sayaka says that she must be such a terrible person for spying on her best friends. With that, the Player pulls a depressed Sayaka away.
Claire, the last of Elise's friends, is defeated by the Sextet. As Kyoko brags about her strength, the Player thinks about how she doesn't want to fight magical girls. Claire says they only came here because they heard about powerful witches, and says the rumors must have been wrong. Madoka asks why they are looking for a powerful witch, and Claire refuses to answer. Sayaka says that she can just beat an answer out of her, causing Homura to say Sayaka is being a burden. As they fight, Elise appears and says that defending Mitakihara must be easy if they can fight with each other like this. Hiyori suggests they attack them while they fight, and Kyoko says she better not think about it. Elise calls Hiyori off, saying that they defeated the witch and therefore have no reason to fight. As they leave, the Player wonders and worries about Sayaka's soul gem. Kyoko and Sayaka say that they will keep on fighting Elise and her friends, and Madoka asks Sayaka not to push herself. Sayaka says they must all think of her as a burden, and Kyoko says that nobody thinks that. As Sayaka leaves to fight more witches, the Player thinks that Sayaka looks hurt and wonders if there is anything she could do to help.
Chapter 7: Where Your Heart Is
Madoka asks if Sayaka is okay, and Sayaka responds that she is fine. The Player advises her not to force herself, and Sayaka lashes out at her saying that it's none of her business. The Player apologizes and Kyoko asks Sayaka if she is hungry, offering an apple. Sayaka refuses, shouting that she isn't like Kyoko. Mami wonders why Sayaka is acting differently, and Homura asks if Sayaka has cleansed her soul gem recently. Sayaka dodges the question and the group decides to hunt witches.
While fighting a Familiar, the Sextet runs into Elise. They are able to beat the Familiar before her, so she loses. Elise mentions how they were hunting a familiar and not a witch, adding that fighting a familiar has no benefit and suggesting they let the familiar eat some people so it can become a witch. Sayaka becomes upset as Komachi and Elise both talk about how it's better to let a few people die than to waste your time for no reward. As Sayaka glares, Elise asks if she made her wish for someone else and for a sense of justice and what she would gain from a wish like that. Donning a gloomy look, Elise begins saying she would also fight for other people. Sayaka tells her to shut up and rushes towards Elise, prepared to fight.
However, Homura slams her shield into Sayaka's neck and knocks her unconscious before she could do anything. Mami tells her that she is too harsh, but both Kyoko and Homura say that it's better than a useless fight. Elise, still sad, leaves with Komachi. The rest of the Sextet says that they must stop them before they let people die.
Chapter 8: I Want To Help
A battle ends, and Komachi lost to the Sextet. Elise tells her that she should stop before she hurts herself, and Komachi retorts that Sayaka wants to keep fighting. Elise looks at Sayaka sadly, saying that fighting until you can't anymore won't help anyone. Sayaka yells at her not to pity her, but Elise ignores it and warns Sayaka to cleanse her Soul Gem. Claire says that they should leave the Sextet to their self-destruction, and Elise agrees. The Player worries about Sayaka and Elise while Homura offers Sayaka a Grief Seed, warning that she will die if she doesn't cleanse it soon. Sayaka says she will be fine and says she won't become like Homura, leaving at a moments notice and always offering but never accepting help. She says she will be entirely independent and accept that she will be useless once all Witches are killed. The Sextet tells her that they won't let her become useless and Homura says she is only doing this to help Madoka. Kyoko adds that internal fighting won't help them. Mami agrees, saying that they should focus on Witches instead of the other girls now anyway. Kyoko tells the Player and Madoka to bring Sayaka home, which they do.
Chapter 9: Only One Chance
Elise appears in front of the Sextet, telling Sayaka that she knows what she wished for. She tells Sayaka not to waste her magic for others, but the Sextet affirm that Sayaka can use her magic in any way that makes her happy. Mami says that everyone has their own wishes and should feel free to use them in any way they wish, and Elise seems to agree. Elise then tells Sayaka that she can make Kyosuke dependent on Sayaka once again so that he can be all hers. If she breaks him, he will need Sayaka to be there for him. Sayaka shouts that she'll make Elise's life hell but Madoka tries to calm her down. Sayaka ignores her, but the Player insists and snaps Sayaka back to her senses. Mami and Kyoko say that they would like to fight Elise, but Elise says that now is not the time to settle the score. She leaves and both Madoka and the Player are relieved.
Chapter 10: We Can't Fight Like This
The Sextet fights Claire and wins, with Claire saying how embarrassing it is to lose to the same enemy twice. Sayaka asks if Claire has any fight left in her and the Player thinks about how Sayaka seems to be okay despite being hit hard by Claire. Madoka tells her to stop since Sayaka is bleeding and both Kyoko and Mami chastise Sayaka for being so reckless and bloodthirsty respectively. When they finish, Sayaka begins to fall. Madoka catches her, and the Player thinks that Sayaka seems ready to crumble. Meanwhile, Homura tells Claire to leave Mitakihara. Before she can respond, Elise, Hiyori and Komachi appear, with Elise saying that they won't be leaving. Mami demands to know why they seem to be obsessed with this city, and Elise responds that they wouldn't understand even if Elise told them. Kyoko asks if they think the Sextet is stupid, and Komachi shouts that they don't know how precious their memories of Mitakihara are. Kyoko says she doesn't care about their memories and asks if they are only here for Grief Seeds, offering some if Komachi begs for them. Komachi, enraged, shouts that they are doing this all for Elise. Elise tells her to stop and not get provoked and tells Kyoko not to take them all so lightly. Elise says that she will be leaving, and Mami says its cowardly of them to leave when things don't go their way. Elise tells her to think what she wants as she and her group leave. Homura wonders who these Magical Girls are, and the Player wonders what she is talking about.
Chapter 11: I Really Am An Idiot
The Sextet find Sayaka, relieved they finally found her. Sayaka apologizes to them, saying she no longer cares what happens after Kyoko asks her what's wrong. Kyoko, worried, asks Sayaka what she is talking about, but is interrupted by Sayaka saying that she no longer knows what's important or what she is trying to protect. She takes out her soul gem, and it is pitch-black. She says that she can save as many people as she wants, but envy and hatred will build up inside of her as a result. She says that she now understands the balance between hope and despair. With every wish is a curse, Sayaka says. Sayaka says that she is an idiot and her Soul Gem cracks, birthing Oktavia von Seckendorff. Madoka begs her to wake up, but Elise and her group appear and Elise says that it's no use. She reveals to them the truth about Witches and that her little sister suffered the same fate as Sayaka after giving herself up to save others. She says that she was unable to do anything for her sister, but can still do something for Sayaka. Claire and Hiyori realize what she is talking about and beg her not to use it, saying that she is supposed to use it on her sister. Elise ignores them and says that her magic ability allows her to trade places with the person who became a Witch upon her death. She says that she wanted to use this power on her sister, but says that her sister's witch died. She then turns to Oktavia, saying that she will be able to absorb the grief of Sayaka if the now Quintet can kill her. Claire shouts at her not to do it, and the battle begins.
Elise is defeated and dies, becoming Oktavia von Seckendorff. Komachi prepares to fight, but a saddened Claire tells her to stop and that Elise made her decision and that they, as her friends, should respect it. Madoka says that they must all have loved Elise very much. Claire says that Elise was connected to this city since her sister once protected this city and eventually died in it. To respect her sister, Claire says, Elise had planned to protect the city in her place. Mami and Kyoko tell them that their fight is over and that they should leave, and Hiyori thanks them for fighting with them. Claire, carrying Elise's body, leaves with her friends. The Player asks if Homura is okay, and she responds that this world is unknown to her. She wonders if the Player is the source of this difference, but is cut short by Sayaka waking up. The Sextet is overjoyed and Sayaka apologizes once again. Madoka welcomes her back and Sayaka says that she is home once again.
