Elise (エリーゼ Eriize) is a character in the Puella Magi Madoka Magica Mobage event The Hollow Little Mermaid. She, along with Claire, Hiyori and Komachi come to Mitakihara City to defeat the Holy Quintet and save Elise's sister.

Personality
Elise is described having a personality that makes her well-liked. However, she also has a cold and ruthless side, shown by her quickly taking out the Holy Quintet and telling them to leave Mitakihara. She is also very persistent, refusing to give up until she has attained her goal. She describes herself as determined and stubborn, just like Sayaka.
History

Elise appears in the event The Hollow Little Mermaid as a major character. She is one of four girls that travel to Mitakihara City in order to take it over as territory, the others being Claire, Hiyori and Komachi. She first observes the Holy Quintet, commenting that they can "take a beating" and that her group has no need to rush and first needs to greet the Witches of Mitakihara. She eventually meets the Holy Quintet and fights with them alongside her friends, quickly taking them out with her Summoning magic. She insists that the Holy Quintet is too weak to defend Mitakihara before leaving, warning them to leave Mitakihara. Before leaving, however, Elise looks at Sayaka and recognizes her. According to Komachi, Sayaka looks and feels like Elise's sister. Elise whispers that there is a familiar face in this city before taking her leave. Her next meeting is after a fight with Hiyori, in which the Quintet wins. After, Elise appears and says that Sayaka is turning out to be a real thorn in her side. She also observes that she has learned to block out her pain and comments on it, which Sayaka shrugs off. This leads Elise to realize that she and Sayaka's personalities are similar, with both being stubborn, determined and tryhards. Elise and Hiyori leave after Elise says that she will not give up no matter what. Elise is seen next by the Quintet after Claire loses a fight with them. Elise and Hiyori appear after Claire loses the fight. She says that she was hoping to find a strong Witch in Mitakihara and says that she is disappointed. She also jabs at Madoka, Homura and Sayaka and says that defending Mitakihara must be easy if they bicker so much, causing Kyoko to react. Elise, Hiyori and Claire leave, with Elise saying that all that matters is that they were able to defeat the Witch. Elise is seen next after losing her own fight with the Quintet. She is in a state of disbelief that the Quintet's power has grown so much in such a short amount of time. Elise comments that the Quintet only killed a Familiar, which is a useless endeavor in her eyes since they don't drop a grief seed. She fights verbally with Sayaka about their ideals of what a Magical Girl should be, with Elise believing that they should let Familiars eat some people so that they can "eat" the Witches. She asks if Sayaka made her contract "for humanity’s sake or to serve justice or other foolishness". Sayaka's reaction confirms Elise's suspicions, and she asks with a sad look on her face what Sayaka gained by wishing for another person. She advises Sayaka that she should start looking out for her own happiness as well, and not just focus on making others happy. Elise makes another brief appearance after a fight, feeling worry for Sayaka as she descends into her madness. She makes a larger appearance after a fight between Komachi and the Quintet, with the Quintet winning. Elise calls Sayaka foolish for trying to ease her pain with further pain. She warns Sayaka to cleanse her Soul Gem before leaving, with even more worry and sadness for Sayaka. Elise confronts Sayaka and the rest of the Quintet, asking why Sayaka made a wish for her childhood friend, leading Sayaka to be surprised that she got that information. She says that nothing good will come from Sayaka using her magic for someone else, causing much anger from the Quintet. She mirrors what Kyoko said in the anime, saying that Sayaka should make Kyousuke rely on her once again if it meant Sayaka could be happy. This causes Sayaka to have an outburst of anger, saying she'll make Elise's life a "living hell". Elise leaves, saying that she will soon return to settle the score with the Quintet. Elise makes another appearance alongside Komachi after Claire loses again to the Quintet , saying that she won't leave Mitakihara since she likes the city. When asked why she is obsessed the city, Elise says that it would be unlikely that they would understand her reasoning. Komachi says that they hold precious memories of this city, especially Elise. Elise calms Komachi, telling her not to let Kyoko provoke her. Elise and Komachi leave after Mami calls them cowards for always running when things don't go their way. Elise appears again after Sayaka becomes Oktavia von Seckendorff, talking about how it is the fate of all Magical Girls to one day become Witches. She reveals to the Quintet that her sister had become a Witch after sacrificing herself for other people, causing Elise to become a Magical Girl in turn. She says that she was unable to do anything back then, but she might be able to save Sayaka. Elise then makes an offer to the Quintet. Her unique magic allows her to trade places with the Magical Girl who became a Witch. Claire and Hiyori beg her not to do it, saying that she was supposed to use her magic for her sister. Elise responds that her sister's witch died a long time ago, and that they all should have felt it. Elise then plays with the Quintet, telling them to kill Elise in order to save Sayaka. She then pleads as well to Sayaka, asking her to accept her sacrifice. After the fight, Elise is killed and becomes Oktavia von Seckendorff and frees Sayaka's soul, allowing her to live once again. Komachi attempts to attack the Quintet for killing Elise, but Claire stops her, saying that this was Elise's decision and that they should respect it. Madoka comments that they all must have loved Elise very much. Claire, Komachi and Hiyori leave with Elise's body. After they leave, Sayaka awakens and the Quintet, especially Madoka, is overjoyed. |
Powers and Abilities
Elise has the ability to summon cloud-like creatures to fight for her. These creatures are very powerful and make her a force to be reckoned with.
Her unique magic allows her to switch places with a Magical Girl who became a Witch. She uses this power to sacrifice herself and save Sayaka Miki.
Trivia
- Elise plays a role very similar to Kyoko Sakura from the anime, being the "injustice" to Sayaka's "justice".
