This article details the events and stories taking place in, during and between the chapters of Arc 2 of Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story. It is possible that there are days between the ones listed, as well as some unrelated "same-day events" having taken place on different days from each other. Due to the uncertainty of the passage of time, this article is best understood as a summary of events in the order they're presented, as well as the lowest possible number of days where the events of Arc 2 could have taken place.
After class, Kagome reflects on her inability to act on her resolve. She thinks of Iroha and finally feels ready to take action on her own.[1]
Ui alerts the rest of the Mikazuki Villa team to a strange Labyrinth. The team encounters an entity that somehow uses the defeated Uwasa of the Friendship Ending Staircase, but the entity itself is neither a Witch nor a known Uwasa. The entity proves to be exceptionally powerful, and during the battle, the entity targets the Magical Girls' Soul Gems. Tsuruno and Sana are injured defending each other, but Iroha, Yachiyo, Ui, and Felicia manage to defeat it together.[1]
The entity does not leave behind a Grief Seed, but instead, a mysterious, indestructible bracelet attaches itself to Iroha's arm. The bracelet also resists all attempts to remove it and emits strong magic. Yachiyo suggests gathering information from their contacts and Ui and Lil' Kyubey speculate the object "wants to go somewhere."[1]
During this time, Kagome, now aware of the Magical Girl system, writes to document their struggle and bring their hidden sacrifices to light. She seeks to brighten the "Light" of Magical Girls by revealing the truth of their fate.[1]
Second Day
The morning after Mikazuki Villa's battle with the entity, Kagome reflects on the information she has gathered about Kamihama's Magical Girls, the Wings of the Magius, and the Automatic Purification System. She documents Kamihama as a special place where Magical Girls are freed from becoming Witches, but notes the "creaking sounds of cracks" in this system.[2]
At Mikazuki Villa, the residents prepare for school. Felicia is anxious about a quiz, and the group has to physically carry her out the door.[2]
Later that day at school, during English class, Iroha is distracted, worrying about the long-term consequences of the Automatic Purification System, specifically the depletion of Grief Seeds and the potential release of Doppels. Her distraction causes her to give an incorrect answer in class.[2]
During lunch, Iroha shows the mysterious object attached to her arm to Momoko, Rena, and Kaede. They confirm they have no knowledge of Witches leaving such objects. Iroha explains the entity they fought used Uwasa as Familiars and felt different from both Witches and Uwasa. Momoko suggests Iroha bring the matter to the regional leaders' meeting scheduled for that day to see if similar incidents occurred in other wards.[2]
Touka, Nemu, and Mifuyu discuss the difficulties of expanding the Automatic Purification System. Touka is frustrated that she cannot calculate the precise number of Grief Seeds needed to sustain a Magical Girl, as the corruption rate of a Soul Gem is heavily influenced by a person's psychological state and surroundings, which are unpredictable variables.[2]
Nemu confirms that stress can cause a Soul Gem to darken rapidly, and the group concludes that expanding the system beyond Kamihama is currently impossible, as they do not even understand its base of operations within the city. Touka, stressed, suggests using Magical Girls or Witches as an alternative energy source, but Mifuyu rejects this idea.[2]
The Eternal Sakura returns and reports that a Kamihama Magia Union meeting is occurring, which will include Iroha and Ui. The Eternal Sakura urges Touka and Nemu to attend, but they refuse, stating they have prior obligations to help Mifuyu study. The Eternal Sakura is disappointed and Nemu notes this is because it is an Uwasa born for the four of them: Touka, Nemu, Ui, and Iroha.[2]
During the regional leaders' meeting, Iroha presents a report from Touka on the Automatic Purification System. The report states the system continues to function but its Labyrinth's location remains unknown. Its nature is undefined, as it is a conceptual entity formed from Lil' Kyubey and Ui, making its energy requirements unclear. The report concludes that expansion of the system is currently impossible.[2]
Iroha and Ui also confirm they cannot sense the system's location and that Lil' Kyubey also has no information.[2]
The discussion shifts to the mysterious object on Iroha's arm. Tsuruno and Felicia describe the powerful entity they fought, which used Uwasa as Familiars. Ryo Midori, a former White Feather, states the Wings of the Magius had no knowledge of such a combined entity and notes the object appears clearly in her photographs.[2]
Kanagi reports that while no one in the Eastern Ward has encountered such a Witch, there are reports of strange magic being felt. Hinano states she will alert the Magical Girls in the Southern Ward as well and Kanagi agrees to remain vigilant, given the warning about the entity's power.[2]
The meeting concludes and Kanagi notes the positive change in Kamihama's Magical Girls now working as allies. The group disperses: Hinano and Ryo head south, Ui and Sana go grocery shopping for Mikazuki Villa, and Tsuruno and Felicia return to Banbanzai.[2]
Kanagi suggests Iroha have Mitama examine the mysterious bracelet as a Coordinator. Despite concerns that probing its magic could trigger a reaction, Yachiyo agrees, as leaving it unattended is also a risk.[2]
Later that evening, as Ui and Sana shop, they sense the magic of an unknown Magical Girl approaching. Ryo and Hinano confirm recent eyewitness reports of unfamiliar Magical Girls in the city as well. The unknown Magical Girl passes by the group and heads toward Shinsei Ward. Ryo takes a photograph, but the image is blurry and the individual is unidentifiable. The group expresses concern for Iroha's safety in particular in Shinsei Ward.[2]
At Sakae Academy, Ikumi visits Karin, who remains at school late, unwilling to return home because her grandmother worries about her depression over Alina's disappearance. Karin shows Ikumi artwork Alina created, all themed around life, and insists the Alina she knew would not try to destroy the city. Ikumi confirms, based on her and Ryo's accounts, that Alina was one of the three Magius who led the Wings of the Magius and was willing to sacrifice the city. Karin believes Alina stopped coming because she was angry at Karin's lack of artistic improvement and vows to practice until Alina returns, but Ikumi tells her that people have more than one side.[2]
At night, somewhere in Kamihama, Kanagi senses the magic of a mysterious Magical Girl but is unable to find her.[2]
Third Day
The day after the sighting of unknown Magical Girls, Kanagi visits Mitama to discuss the reports of them. Mitama confirms that some of her clients have fragmented memories of such encounters but no concrete sightings. They briefly discuss the political fallout in Chuo Ward and the stable state of the Endless Mirrors labyrinth.[2]
The Mikazuki Villa team arrive and Yachiyo confirms there are multiple unknown Magical Girls, not just one or two. The team shows Ryo's blurry photograph as evidence and the group discusses the possibility that these are hostile Magical Girls from outside Kamihama.[2]
Mitama attempts to read the magical signatures from Ui's memories but finds no clear information either, so the group agrees to circulate a warning. Mitama then examines the mysterious bracelet on Iroha's arm. She confirms it is magically sealed and cannot be removed. Upon probing the jewel, Mitama discovers it contains an unbelievable amount of magic, far beyond a normal Witch's power. As she probes deeper into the magic, Iroha cries out in pain.[2]
During the procedure, Iroha has a vision of the "Witch" they defeated, Joyful - Sapphire Lips. The entity communicates with her, revealing it is not hostile and explains that because Iroha defeated it, it has entrusted its life to her in the form of the bracelet. The entity states the bracelet can only be removed and given to someone Iroha would trust with her own life.[2]
Iroha regains consciousness and explains the vision to Mitama and the others. She concludes the bracelet may not be malicious but is bound to her by a pact formed through their battle. Tsuruno suggests the group return to the site of the original battle to conduct an on-site inspection for clues and Yachiyo agrees, noting that a lack of malice does not equate to safety. Iroha, Ui, and the team thus leave for the location. After they depart, Mitama reflects that the last time Iroha recovered lost memories, it set major events in Kamihama in motion, and she feels a sense of déjà vu.[2]
Fourth Day
The group investigates the area where they encountered the entity for traces of magic but find nothing. Felicia discovers a large praying mantis, which Sana and Ui identify as having the same magical signature they detected the previous day. Then a group of unfamiliar Magical Girls appear and confront them. Their leader, Yuna Kureha, and her subordinate, Hikaru Kirari, state their goal is to acquire the enormous amount of energy that was present and the lives of the Kamihama Magical Girls. They reveal they are from Futatsugi City and hold a grudge against Kamihama for the deaths of their comrades.[2]
A battle ensues and the Futatsugi Magical Girls prove to be exceptionally strong and experienced. Felicia is severely injured and Ui leaves to get help. Yuna and Hikaru demand Iroha's bracelet and state their motive is revenge for comrades who died because of Kamihama. Ui returns with Momoko, Rena, and Kaede and their arrival forces the Futatsugi group to retreat. Before leaving, Yuna and Hikaru identify themselves and vow to take back what was "forged in their blood."[2]
The team takes the injured Felicia to Mitama, and they also question Mitama about whether she enhanced the Futatsugi Magical Girls, as their strength was on par with her clients. Mitama denies any knowledge of them but mentions she learned her Coordination skills from a "Teacher," so there may be other Coordinators around.[2]
In the Puella Care trailer, Yuna and Hikaru meet with Livia Medeiros, who performs a service of Coordination on them and gives them advice to not lose sight of their original goal while investigating Kamihama.[2]
Later that night in Futatsugi, Yuna interrogates and executes a girl from Kamihama who stumbled upon their location and was a member of the Neo-Magius. Hikaru assists with the disposal of the body, and the group, which also includes Juri Oba and Ao Kasane, discusses their recent reconnaissance. Yuna reports that the Kamihama Magical Girls appear ignorant of the Promised Blood's motives, and Hikaru confirms they are strong enough to provide a challenge for Juri.[2]
Fifth Day
During this time, Kagome speaks with Kyubey. She refuses to answer his requests, stating she made a promise with an old scholar and another entity. Her mission is to record and spread the "knowledge of Magical Girls" to the world.[2]
Elsewhere, Shizuka Tokime becomes trapped in a train station gate, unable to exit because her transit card lacks funds. Her companions, Charu Hiroe and Sunao Toki, attempt to instruct her on how to use the fare adjustment machine, and Charu leaves to find a station attendant to help them.[2]
Kagome and her mandrake plush, Aru, observe the turmoil in Kamihama. She notes the presence of foreign Magical Girls, the mysterious bracelet, and a great wave of anxiety washing over the city.[2]
In Kamihama, the Tokime Clan, made up of Shizuka Tokime, Sunao Toki, and Chiharu Hiroe, struggle to adapt to city life. They practice basic tasks like understanding traffic signals, having recently arrived from their remote village.[2]
At Mifuyu's apartment, Yachiyo, Tsukuyo, and Tsukasa visit to cook her a proper meal, concerned about her study habits. During the visit, Yachiyo and Mifuyu discuss the increasing number of hostile, foreign Magical Girls in Kamihama who are probing their defenses, and the nature of Iroha's bracelet. Mifuyu suggests that Touka and Nemu examine the Bracelet directly.[2]
Around the same time, the Promised Blood faction, led by Yuna, Juri, Ao and Hikaru, holds a Kamihama Magical Girl captive. They interrogate her to gather information, frustrated by the resilience of the local Magical Girls. Yuna tasks Hikaru with surveying the city to better identify their targets.[2]
At Mikazuki Villa, Tsuruno declares a "Dragon Fair" and begins preparing an extremely spicy dinner, much to Sana's and Felicia's apprehension. While grocery shopping to avoid the spicy dinner, Iroha and Ui encounter the Tokime Clan struggling to pay at a register. Iroha helps them, and after learning they are new to the city, she and Ui offer to guide them. They exchange contact information and agree to meet in Mizuna Ward tomorrow.[2]
At Mikazuki, Tsuruno's dinner proves too spicy for Felicia, Iroha, Ui, and Sana to eat. Yachiyo returns home and is also overwhelmed by the smell. Iroha and Yachiyo work to adjust the flavor of the meal, while Sana prepares a separate, mild egg porridge for Ui. Yachiyo asks Iroha to visit Touka and Nemu the next day to have them examine her bracelet and Iroha explains she and Ui already have plans to guide the Tokime Clan around the city tomorrow. Yachiyo forbids Ui from going alone but relents when Sana offers to accompany her.[2]
Sixth Day
The next day, Ui, Sana, Tsuruno, and Felicia meet Shizuka, Sunao, and Chiharu. Tsuruno, learning the clan needs to acclimate to crowds quickly, proposes a plan to take them to the most crowded area in Kamihama and the group goes to a bustling city center. Shizuka and Chiharu struggle with the dense crowds, with Chiharu feeling nauseous. After a period of adjustment, Shizuka resolves to overcome her discomfort, and the group then enjoys city treats like popcorn, milk tea, and crepes. Sunao also indulges but is chastised by Shizuka for overeating.[2]
When the group moves to a clothing district, Shizuka shows interest, but Chiharu remains unwell. At the Tokime Clan's request, the group relocates to a less crowded area and Sana suggests a large park in western Sakae Ward, near some vacant lots, which she believes will have few people.[2]
Iroha and Yachiyo visit Touka and Nemu to have Iroha's bracelet examined. The analysis requires the use of the Eternal Sakura Uwasa, which in turn requires the presence of Iroha, Touka, Nemu, and Ui together. As Ui is absent, the analysis is postponed, but during the visit, Nemu reveals she created one final, unaccounted-for Rumor during her confrontation with Holy Alina, but she cannot detect it despite its existence being recorded in her book.[2]
Elsewhere, Mifuyu meets with Tsukuyo and Tsukasa to discuss that a faction of former Wings of the Magius Feathers has begun mobilizing again, operating secretly at night. Mifuyu is concerned that this faction is acting against them despite sharing the same goal of liberating Magical Girls. They decide to also meet with Kanagi and Mitama to discuss the situation.[2]
In an unknown location, Juri interrogates a captive Kamihama Magical Girl and through psychological pressure, she learns that the captive's allies are gathering at a massive radio telescope in the mountains to seek backup. Yuna and the other sisters deduce they are likely meeting with a strategic leader and decide to target this gathering.[2]
At Kanagi's workplace, Mifuyu informs Kanagi about the mobilizing Feathers and Kanagi agrees to accompany Mifuyu to meet Mitama after she finishes her shift. Mifuyu plans to gather Tsukuyo and Tsukasa as well.[2]
At the park, Ui receives a message from Iroha, requesting she come to see the Eternal Sakura. The group discusses Chiharu's nausea in crowds and Chiharu reveals she can sense people's malice, which overwhelms her in dense areas. Tsuruno deduces that the Tokime Clan members are Magical Girls, which they also confirm. Felicia, remembering her previous fight with Magical Girls from Futatsugi, initially mistakes the Tokime Clan for enemies, but the misunderstanding is quickly resolved. The Tokime Clan explains they came to Kamihama from their secluded village and Shizuka expresses relief at finding friendly Magical Girls in the city.[2]
Suddenly, the Tokime Clan senses a powerful magical presence they mistake for a Witch. Ui identifies it as the same kind of unknown entity her team fought before and warns them it is a severe threat that previously required six Magical Girls to defeat. Despite the warning, the Tokime Clan insists on confronting it to purify the land of Japan and help Chiharu. Ui reveals she can sense its location and the group, now seven Magical Girls strong, decides to pursue it. They encounter the Uwasa of the Memory Curator and its Familiars along the way, and the Tokime Clan initially fights alone but are overwhelmed. Tsuruno's team intervenes to assist and, after a difficult battle, Shizuka delivers the final blow to the "Witch," Obedient - Ruby Navel, defeating it.[2]
The entity does not drop a Grief Seed and instead, a bracelet appears on Shizuka's wrist. Ui notes the phenomenon is identical to what happened to Iroha after the battle with the previous entity. The Tokime Clan speculates the bracelet, which contains powerful magic, is the object they have been tasked to collect. Tsuruno also connects this to the earlier attack by the Futatsugi girls, who were also seeking these bracelets, but the reason why multiple groups are collecting the bracelets remains unknown to Tsuruno's team.[2]
Yuna and Promised Blood detect a powerful magic signal in eastern Kamihama. Yuna and Hikaru plan to "crush the heads of Kamihama," while the other two sisters are tasked with securing the source of the strong magical power.[2]
Elsewhere, Mifuyu, Mitama, and other veteran Magical Girls discuss the resurgence of the Wings of the Magius. Mitama reveals that the new faction's motivation is not just liberation, but "Magical Girl Supremacy," an ideology they inherited from Touka. Mifuyu fears Touka and Nemu will also be targeted for kidnapping to advance this goal.[2]
Iroha and Yachiyo are with Touka and Nemu when members of the new Wings of the Magius, wearing new uniforms, arrive. They declare their intent to fulfill Touka's ideals, which they define as more than just liberation.[2]
Meanwhile, the Tokime Clan explains to Ui, Tsuruno, Sana, and Felicia that their goal is not the bracelet itself, but the powerful magic contained within it. They state their objective is to acquire a share of Kamihama's Automatic Purification System for their village and that this information came from Kyubey.[2]
Iroha receives a message warning that Touka and Nemu are in danger, and separately, Karin, Ikumi, and Kagome search the mountains, with Kagome claiming to hear the voices of Magical Girls.[2]
The Tokime state that Kyubey told them they could obtain an "Automatic Purification System" by gathering strong magic in Kamihama. The others are alarmed by Kyubey's involvement and Ui receives a message from Iroha indicating that Touka and Nemu are in danger, prompting the entire group to head to help them.[2]
Near the mountains, Kagome and Aru witness a Magical Girl moving swiftly through a forest.[2]
Iroha, Yachiyo, Touka, and Nemu are confronted by the new faction calling themselves the Neo-Magius, who have inherited the ideals of Touka and Nemu. The Neo-Magius advocate for a "Magical Girl Supremacy" philosophy, believing Magical Girls are superior to ordinary humans and should rule over and guide humanity. Their goal is to seize the Automatic Purification System and restrict its use to their followers, thereby forcing global recognition of Magical Girl superiority.[2]
Touka and Nemu acknowledge these are their past ideas but note the Neo-Magius have distorted them. Iroha and Yachiyo challenge the group's divisive ideology and the Neo-Magius reveal they sense the power of the Purification System within Iroha's bracelet. Eternal Sakura issues a threat to eliminate anyone who tries to harm Iroha and the Neo-Magius, insisting they do not wish to fight, reiterate their desire for Touka and Nemu to join them before retreating.[2]
Juri and Ao observe members of the Neo-Magius, and they're also tracking the strong magical energy signal in the same eastern direction. They decide to use the Neo-Magius as living trail markers, planning to follow them to the source of the power rather than confront them directly.[2]
Elsewhere, Momoko, Rena, and Kaede meet with Tsukuyo and Tsukasa. The Amane sisters report that the Neo-Magius, who advocate for Magical Girl Supremacy, are heading for the radio telescope. They also report detecting numerous magical reactions from Magical Girls not native to Kamihama, who are gathering in the area. The group agrees to investigate this gathering together.[2]
Ryo and Ikumi arrive, searching for Karin. Ikumi explains that Karin ran off after learning the new Wings of the Magius tried to recruit her, believing it could be a clue to Alina's whereabouts. Momoko invites Ryo and Ikumi to join their investigation, as their path aligns with the search for Karin and the source of the gathering Magical Girls.[2]
The Neo-Magius members, Shigure Miyabi and Hagumu Azumi, attempt to persuade Touka and Nemu to lead their faction, but they refuse again. Nemu deduces that the pair's true motive is not a grand ideal, but a desire to use Magical Girl status to escape their own misery and gain self-worth. Iroha tries to empathize with them, but Shigure and Hagumu reject her perspective and attempt to kidnap Touka and Nemu by force.[2]
Iroha and Yachiyo give chase through the forest while Sakurako holds off other Neo-Magius members. As Iroha and Yachiyo urge the pair to stand down, Yuna and Hikaru arrive and Yuna reveals they were given the location by a Neo-Magius member they previously captured and killed. Yuna and Hikaru declare their intent to eliminate Touka and Nemu, and to take Iroha's bracelet, even if it requires severing her arm. Faced with this new, larger threat, Shigure and Hagumu resolve to fight alongside Iroha and Yachiyo to protect Touka and Nemu.[2]
At the radio telescope, a separate group of Magical Girls, including Juri and Ao enter a Labyrinth containing a powerful Uwasa of the Chelation Land Ferris Wheel. They also encounter a group of Neo-Magius members and Juri's group proposes a temporary truce to defeat the Uwasa, which they believe holds the powerful energy they seek. After a joint battle, the Uwasa is defeated but the Labyrinth remains. Juri's group then turns on the Neo-Magius, revealing they are from Futatsugi City and hold a deep grudge against Kamihama Magical Girls, specifically those carrying on the legacy of the Wings of the Magius.[2]
At the same time, the battle between Iroha's group and the Futatsugi blood sisters intensifies. Yuna and Hikaru overpower all Iroha, Yachiyo, Shigure, and Hagumu. Yuna prepares to execute Touka and Nemu for their role as the Magius, but reinforcements led by Mifuyu and Kanagi arrive, including Tsuruno, Felicia, Sana, and Ui. Shizuka, Chiharu, and Sunao of the Tokime Clan also arrive and are shocked by the infighting, but Shizuka declares solidarity with her friends in Kamihama.[2]
The battle between the Kamihama and Futatsugi Magical Girls reaches a stalemate and Iroha pleads for an end to the fighting. Hikaru convinces Yuna to stand down and Kanagi uses her magic to read Hikaru's heart, learning the Futatsugi group lost many companions.[2]
Yuna reveals the cause of their grudge, that the Wings of the Magius' plan to gather Witches in Kamihama to create Eve caused a Witch famine in Futatsugi City. This in turn led to a violent conflict among Futatsugi's Magical Girls over the scarce Grief Seeds, an event they call the "Bloody Tragedy." Yuna states her friends died needlessly because of the Magius' actions and declares that Promised Blood's goal is to seize the Automatic Purification System, which was built with the energy gathered from their suffering, as a form of atonement from Kamihama.[2]
Inside the Labyrinth, the group of Magical Girls led by Juri and Ao defeat the entity behind the Uwasa, Oscillating - Aquamarine Heel. They acquire a bracelet from the being, which ties itself to Juri and they decide to pursue another strong magical signal.[2]
At the radio telescope, Iroha attempts to reconcile with Yuna. She apologizes for the suffering the Magius caused Futatsugi City but states she does not regret stopping their plan, as it would have caused greater destruction. Iroha asks Yuna to help them expand the Automatic Purification System globally, but Yuna rejects the apology and the proposal, stating that Promised Blood now has more reason to seize the system by force.[2]
Shizuka intervenes, identifying herself as a Magical Girl from Tokime Village and condemning Yuna's plan for revenge as foolish. She reveals herself as being from Tokime Village in Kirimine Town. She explains her clan has a long-standing tradition of serving and protecting the Land of the Rising Sun (Japan) as Magical Girls. However, the clan's leadership betrayed them by selling their souls to powerful political figures and concealing the truth that Magical Girls become Witches. To manage this, the village executed Magical Girls before they could Witch out, under the guise of a coming-of-age ritual. With the village leader now gone, the Tokime Clan has reclaimed their settlement and they came to Kamihama after learning from Kyubey about the Automatic Purification System, which they need to prevent their members from becoming Witches. Shizuka states they wish to obtain this power not to take it from others, but to use it to build a foundation to continue their duty of protecting the nation. She criticizes the Futatsugi girls' quest for revenge as wasteful and proposes cooperation instead.[2]
The girls from Futatsugi City and the cloaked faction, Promised Blood and the Neo-Magius respectively, reject this proposal. Yuna insists on their path of revenge, while Hagumu reveals their goal is to use the system to create a society where Magical Girls rule at the top of humanity. Iroha reflects that a conflict between the three factions over the system is now inevitable, so she resolves to protect the Automatic Purification System by collecting the bracelets, which contain great amounts of energy. She deduces a connection between the bracelets, Ui, and Lil' Kyubey, as they were the first to sense the mysterious power. Touka confirms Iroha's theory, revealing the bracelets are crystallized pieces of Eve, that once had Ui as its core before Lil' Kyubey temporarily replaced it. Nemu classifies these new entities as "Kimochi," crystals of condensed individual emotions ejected from Eve's body after Lil' Kyubey became the core, as Incubators do not possess emotions.[2]
The Kimochi Bracelets contain the original energy of the Automatic Purification System and Touka and Nemu state this energy is the key to expanding the system's range globally, fulfilling the goal of saving all Magical Girls. Yuna and the Futatsugi girls interpret this as a declaration of war, as it directly opposes their goal of destroying the system. Despite Mifuyu Azusa's plea for cooperation, Yuna refuses and prepares to leave.[2]
Iroha proposes that the leaders of the various factions, those being herself, Yuna, Shizuka, and Shigure, formally consolidate their information on how to control the Automatic Purification System. They agree to have Touka act as an intermediary to pose their questions to Kyubey, who is unable to enter Kamihama City.[2]
In a separate location, Karin confronts members of Promised Blood, demanding information about the cloaked Neo-Magius and Alina Gray. Juri becomes hostile upon hearing Alina's name and take Karin with them. Momoko's team detects the conflict and moves to intervene.[2]
Elsewhere, Lavi observes the situation and ponders discussing this with Livia. She sees the gathering of Magical Girls as a sign of impending, significant events.[2]
Meanwhile Kagome and Aru observe the situation themselves.[2]
Karin is interrogated by Juri, who suspect she has ties to the Magius due to her connection with Alina Gray. Karin, visibly terrified, states she only knows Alina as a former classmate and knows nothing of her activities as a Magius. The Futatsugi girls determine she is not lying and tell her to leave.[2]
Momoko's team arrives to rescue Karin and a battle erupts between the two groups in the forest. The Futatsugi girls, Juri and Ao, treat the fight as a "practice run" to gauge their opponents' strength.[2]
Kagome watches the magical lights of the battle from the forest, lamenting the conflict, and she is urged by Aru to follow the main groups.[2]
In Touka's lab, members of the factions meet and Iroha, Yuna, Shizuka, and Shigure, representing their respective factions, prepare to enter a meeting with Kyubey to formally establish the rules for controlling the Automatic Purification System. Their teams remain outside with orders to avoid starting further trouble. Touka establishes a one-way communication link, allowing them to see Kyubey while he cannot see them.[2]
Kyubey confirms he informed various groups about Kamihama's Automatic Purification System because they had a need for it. Yuna seeks to end Futatsugi's cycle of violence, Shizuka needs it to continue protecting Japan without the threat of Witchification, and Shigure desires liberation and societal acceptance for Magical Girls.[2]
Iroha presents the Kimochi bracelet and asks if its energy can control the system. Kyubey confirms it is theoretically possible, and though he cannot verify the bracelet's nature from outside Kamihama, he endorses Touka's analysis that the Bracelets contain the dispersed emotional energy of Eve.[2]
Kyubey explains that while the Automatic Purification System currently only harvests energy, possessing the physical Kimochi crystals would grant ownership and the ability to reshape the system. He states a single Bracelet is insufficient, and that the exact number required is unknown. This confirmation establishes the collection of Kimochi Bracelets as the objective for controlling the system.[2]
Yachiyo and Nemu confront Kyubey about his motives and he admits his goal is to instigate conflict between the Magical Girl factions. He explains that the Doppel system, while extending a Magical Girl's life, still generates the energy he harvests from the transition of hope to despair. By having the girls fight, he can conduct an experiment to see if fewer Magical Girls can produce the same amount of energy over a longer period, which he frames as a potential reduction in human suffering. He views individual deaths as inconsequential for the success of his experiment.[2]
In the forest, the battle between Momoko's team and the Futatsugi girls intensifies, as the Futatsugi girls demonstrate combat skills specialized for fighting other Magical Girls. They specifically target the Kamihama girls, demanding information about the three Magius of the Wings of the Magius, whom they blame for ruining their city. Momoko, initially reluctant to fight people, loses her patience and orders her team to defeat the Futatsugi girls and extract information, including the location of their base.[2]
After Kyubey reveals his intent to instigate conflict, Shizuka and are dismayed at being used, though Chiharu cautions against drawing conclusions with limited information. Touka explains that Kyubey's race acts to counteract universal entropy and prevent the heat death of the universe. They discovered that the emotional energy generated when a young girl falls into despair after having a wish granted is an extremely efficient energy source. Magical Girls are specifically cultivated to produce this energy upon their transformation into Witches.[2]
Kyubey confirms this is his race's purpose. He states that the Automatic Purification System and the Doppel phenomenon in Kamihama present a unique opportunity to experiment with a more efficient, repeatable cycle of energy generation compared to the one-time yield of a Witch's birth. The factions now understand they are pawns in this cosmic experiment.[2]
In the forest, the Futatsugi girls decide to retreat from their battle with Momoko's team, but as they withdraw, Rena and Kaede pursue them against Momoko's orders. Juri unleashes a powerful sea of fire attack. Karin pushes Kaede out of the way of the attack and is engulfed by the flames herself. Karin survives the attack, but the attack causes her Doppel to manifest, and the Futatsugi girls are shocked by their first witnessed emergence of a Doppel.[2]
At the lab, the conference with Kyubey concludes and Iroha and Yachiyo propose that the factions cooperate to spread the Automatic Purification System worldwide, which would also end Kyubey's experiment. Yuna rejects this offer, stating her actions are driven by emotion and a grudge against Kamihama, not logic. She and Hikaru leave, confirming the conflict over the Kimochi will continue.[2]
The Tokime Clan, however, agrees to an alliance. Shizuka Tokime reframes their purpose, stating that by protecting the system, they will save Magical Girls globally while also fulfilling their duty to protect Japan and, by extension, the universe from entropy. She formally shakes hands with Iroha to seal their partnership.[2]
Shigure and Hagumu, are non-committal and Nemu advises them to consider cooperation, but they leave to deliberate. With the Tokime Clan as allies and Promised Blood as confirmed enemies, the formal conflict for control of the Kimochi and the Automatic Purification System begins.[2]
Meanwhile, after Karin's Doppel dissipates, she survives but is left weakened. Juri Oba and Ao Kasane formally identify themselves as the second and third sisters of Promised Blood. Juri gives Momoko a Grief Seed as an apology, noting she did not intend to kill Karin, and the Promised Blood sisters then retreat.[2]
Near the lab, Kagome, who has been secretly observing the conference inside the radio telescope, hears Iroha declare the beginning of their fight. As Iroha's group prepares to leave, Nemu confronts Kagome, having detected her presence. Kagome reveals she is compiling a record about Magical Girls to help the world understand them and she uses Aru to explain that Kagome herself began this project after being saved by Iroha and subsequently meeting a kindly man knowledgeable about Magical Girls.[2]
Nemu identifies Kagome as the host for the last Uwasa she created, the "Uwasa of the Wind Evangelist." Nemu explains she created this Uwasa to spread public awareness of Magical Girls, an act that cost her the use of her legs during the final battle. The Uwasa's magical signature is so weak that only Nemu and the Eternal Sakura had sensed its continued existence. Kanagi suggests they continue the conversation while escorting Kagome home and, as the group departs, Touka expresses suspicion about the identity of the "kindly man" who inspired Kagome.[2]
Kagome explains how she fused with the Uwasa, "Rii." She describes a moment of despair over her inability to compile records on Magical Girls, after which she heard voices that resonated with her desire to help them and this event led to her fusion with the Uwasa of the Wind Evangelist. The group discusses the unique nature of this fusion and Nemu theorizes that because she created this Uwasa during her battle with Alina, its creation was unstable. This resulted in a symbiotic relationship where Kagome acts to support Magical Girls and the Uwasa protects her and gathers information. Iroha reassures Kagome that her intentions are good and encourages her to continue her work.[2]
Mitama arrives, concerned about the group's whereabouts, and they notify her that they plan to convene all the Magical Girls of Kamihama for a larger discussion. As Mitama and Kanagi prepare to leave, Mitama suddenly reacts to a presence she recognizes. Three new individuals appear: Livia Medeiros, Yozuru Sasame, and Sudachi Sawa. They introduce themselves as members of "Puella Care," a group of neutral Coordinators who have been sent to Kamihama by Kyubey after they learned of Mitama's broken neutrality. Livia warns Mitama that aligning with a faction will not fulfill her desires.[2]
After the trio departs, the group discusses the implications and Kanagi suggests that eliminating the neutral Coordinators could be a path to peace, but Sana doubts it would be so simple. Mitama explains that the Coordinators' neutrality, while sowing conflict, has also saved many Magical Girls and Yachiyo also advises against provoking them. Iroha reflects that the universal desire for salvation has instead created a battlefield.[2]
Kagome records the nature of Promised Blood, and notes their deep grudge against Kamihama's Magical Girls and their determination to steal the Automatic Purification System, describing them as sorrowful yet fierce.[2]
Concurrently, in Promised Blood's base, Juri tells the others she's acquired a Kimochi Bracelet. The group, including Hikaru, Ao, and Yuna, discusses their progress and Yuna reaffirms her resolve to move forward, stating she has left her old self behind and plans to exploit Iroha's goodwill. Juri demonstrates that a Bracelet can be transferred if one is willing to offer their life to another, successfully giving hers to Yuna as a sign of their pact as sisters. The group then decides to return to Futatsuki City to report their progress to Janomiya.[2]
Kagome records the nature of the Tokime Clan, Magical Girls from Kirimine Town's Tokime Village. She notes their goal is to escape their fated transformation into Witches to fight as "blades of the Land of the Rising Sun." Kagome expresses concern that their pure, singular purpose may become "discolored" or corrupted by the myriad influences in Kamihama.[2]
Concurrently, within the Tokime Clan, Sunao, Chiharu, and Shizuka discuss their recent findings. They have learned that not all Magical Girls share their specific purpose of fighting for the Land of the Rising Sun and Shizuka is disheartened by this revelation. Sunao and Chiharu console her, with Sunao suggesting that their clan's maintained pride is a miracle and that they should work to spread their ideals. Chiharu pledges her support too and the group resolves to continue their mission together, upholding their pride as heroes who protect the universe.[2]
Kagome Satori records the state of the Neo-Magius, former members of the Wings of the Magius. She notes their goal to control the Automatic Purification System to spread their Magical Girl Supremacy ideology. Kagome sympathizes with their misery but observes their hearts have become warped, likening them to drowning individuals whose last handhold has snapped.[2]
Concurrently, within the Neo-Magius, Shigure and Hagumu witness the mass departure of their members. The remaining members state that weaklings banding together only form a weak crowd and that the group is no longer necessary for strong Magical Girls or those who can live normal lives. Shigure and Hagumu, both social outcasts who found solace only in each other, are left alone and they console each other about their daily struggles, deciding to go home to sleep and forget their troubles.[2]
Lastly, Kagome records the Kamihama Magia Union, describing it as a loose net over the city that has withstood a monster wave but continues to struggle with the large "fish" it has caught.[2]
That evening at Mikazuki Villa, Tsuruno, Felicia, Yachiyo, and Sana discuss the day's events. They feel manipulated, with Tsuruno identifying Kyubey as the one pulling the strings again and Yachiyo notes that other factions, like the Tokime Clan and Promised Blood, see Kyubey's investigation as their chance and have strong convictions.[2]
In Iroha's room, Ui tells her sister Iroha that she is scared. She has realized that the Kimochi are fragments of Eve and that her connection to Lil' Kyubey allows her to sense them, confirming Iroha's earlier suspicion. Downstairs, Yachiyo is on the phone and learns from Momoko that Karin suffered severe burns but is not in mortal danger. Yachiyo resolves to regroup everyone to ensure they can protect themselves.[2]
Kagome concludes her observations and laments that the Magical Girls, despite their shared destiny, are entangled in human conflict due to differing pasts and ideologies. She pleads for the world to know and understand these girls who protect everyone while fighting for their own salvation.[2]
In the Satomi Medical Center, Alina states that a collision is unavoidable and that only "we" know the final outcome. She remarks that her "art" has been delivered.[2]
Another Story Chapter 1
At a playground, Kako, Ayame, and Felicia play together and a disagreement arises between Ayame and Felicia over a shoe-skipping contest, which Kako mediates. Felicia mentions she must leave to attend a Kamihama Magia Union meeting and Kako and Ayame reveal that their respective teams have policies against joining the Union. Felicia states this is not a problem, as Iroha informed her they can still cooperate and share information when needed, and after Felicia leaves, Kako and Ayame are left to contemplate the situation.[3]
Later, after Nanaka's team, consisting of Nanaka, Akira, Kako, and Meiyui, defeat a Witch, they discuss whether to join the Kamihama Magia Union. Akira advocates for joining, agreeing with the Union's goal to save Magical Girls from becoming Witches. Nanaka and Meiyui oppose the idea, citing distrust of the former Magius members within the Union's leadership and the tragic fate of the Magius' followers. When asked, Kako recalls positive encounters with Union members but ultimately also sides with the team's policy to not participate. Nanaka concludes the discussion, stating it is too early to join but acknowledging Akira's feelings. Akira agrees to stop pressing the issue and the meeting ends as the team is approached by a member of Promised Blood.[3]
Elsewhere, the team of Hazuki, Konoha, and Ayame is confronted by a Magical Girl from an outside group, later identified as Promised Blood. The girl confirms the three are from Kamihama and immediately attacks with other assailants without further discussion. Hazuki, Konoha, and Ayame defend themselves and defeat them and the Promised Blood members retreat, vowing never to forgive the Magical Girls of Kamihama. After the fight, the team notes the attackers specifically targeted their Soul Gems and Hazuki decides to gather information to determine if Magia Union and other local teams are also under attack. Konoha advises her to be cautious.[3]
Nanaka meets Hazuki at a cafe to share information. Hazuki provides a report from the Union detailing that the city is being targeted by three external groups: Promised Blood, the Tokime Clan, the Neo-Magius, as well as outsider Adjusters. These groups seek to acquire Kamihama's Automatic Purification System and are searching for powerful energy sources called "Kimochi." The two agree that the situation is dire, with Promised Blood being the most dangerous. Hazuki reveals Promised Blood has already killed one Magical Girl in Kamihama, and their motive is revenge against the former Wings of the Magius, but they target all Kamihama Magical Girls by association. Hazuki confirms her team will not join the Union, believing it makes them a target and Nanaka states that while her team is not joining, it is time to formulate a response to the escalating threat.[3]
Akira, Kako, and Ayame discuss the escalating attacks on Union members and Ayame reveals Felicia was injured and Kaede's team was hospitalized. Kako expresses concern for her friends within the Union and Akira announces her decision to ask Nanaka for permission to join the Union as an individual, not as a team, to act as a bridge between the Union and her own team, with the belief that this is the best way to protect her friends. Ayame, inspired by Akira, resolves to speak with her teammates Konoha and Hazuki about her desire to help Felicia, even if she cannot officially join the Union. Akira encourages her, stating that family-like teammates may offer a different solution.[3]
Kako reflects on her own position and expresses deep worry for her Felicia and Kaede but admits she herself has no clear plan of action. Kako feels conflicted about joining the Magia Union, as she does not have a strong personal desire to join and fears she would only be following others. She also doubts her ability to stand against Nanaka's persuasive, logical arguments, but Akira and Ayame reassure Kako that her ongoing deliberation is acceptable, as the situation does not yet require an immediate decision. They affirm that her careful consideration is valid and Kako resolves to continue thinking about what course of action would be both best and right.[3]
At Walnut's, Konoha reflects on the threat from Promised Blood and considers leaving Kamihama to protect her family, Hazuki and Ayame. She discusses her dilemma with Manaka, who states she would help a friend in danger despite family worries. This conversation and a shared meal between her and Manaka solidify Konoha's resolve to discuss the problem with her team.[3][3]
Meiyui meets with Hinano, the southern leader of Kamihama Magia Union. She explains her team's non-participation is a strategic choice to observe the large, rapidly-formed organization's stability and questions Hinano on how the Union handles external threats, non-members, and potential defectors. Hinano confirms the Union operates on mutual aid and would not abandon non-members in a crisis, though members receive priority. Meiyui concludes that joining the Union may be necessary to gain internal information and mitigate risks if the organization collapses under external pressure. She decides to propose to Nanaka that at least one team member join while the rest maintain a strategic distance.[3]
In the evening, Nanaka concludes a meeting with Hazuki and explains her long-held belief that Kamihama Magia Union is indeed a necessary autonomous organization for the city, however she has chosen to remain an external observer to maintain an objective, bird's-eye view, believing that internal members can become complacent and that external support is needed if problems arise from within. Nanaka also reveals that the hostile arrival of outsider Magical Girls has changed the situation and that members of her own team have expressed a desire to join the Union. She informs Hazuki of her team's new decision: to join Kamihama Magia Union as a full team.[3]
Hazuki returns home to Konoha and Ayame and, after a meal with omurice from Walnut's, Ayame addresses her teammates. She reaffirms that she will not join Kamihama Magia Union but expresses her desire to be able to help Felicia and others if they are in trouble. Konoha agrees, stating she will not deny Ayame's feelings and only asks that Ayame promise to consult with her before jumping into any dangerous situations. Ayame agrees to this condition and Konoha also reminds Hazuki not to overwork herself with information gathering and to share her burdens, emphasizing that they are a loving family, which Hazuki accepts.[3]
Nanaka's team meets in an abandoned building to decide their official stance on Kamihama Magia Union. Akira reiterates her desire to join as an individual to act as a bridge and Meiyui states her intent to join to gather internal information and mitigate risks if the Union collapses. Kako herself admits she is still undecided and Nanaka announces the team's new policy: the team itself will not join Kamihama Magia Union, but individual members are now permitted to join if they wish. She sets conditions that members must maintain their independent thought and act in the best interests of the team and their loved ones. Akira and Meiyui agree to these terms and Nanaka and the others reassure Kako that her ongoing deliberation is correct, citing the danger of letting others make decisions, as happened with the Wings of the Magius. Kako expresses gratitude and resolves to continue thinking about what she can do.[3]
Akira and Meiyui arrive at Mikazuki Villa to formally join Kamihama Magia Union and they clarify to Iroha and Yachiyo that they join as individuals, not as representatives of their full team and that Nanaka and Kako still remain outside the Union. Akira relays a message from Nanaka expressing a desire for continued mutual cooperation and Yachiyo and Iroha respond in kind, formally welcoming Akira and Meiyui into the Union.[3]
Meanwhile, in a separate reflection, Kako notes the different paths her friends have chosen: Akira and Meiyui joined the Union, Nanaka continues to lead the team externally, and Ayame resolved to communicate her feelings to her family. Kako resolves that when she must finally decide, she will choose a path that helps everyone she cares for and allows her to stand alongside them.[3]
Seventh Day
The "Kimochi" are now recognized as energy cores scattered from the remains of the Embryo Eve, which now possess the same energy needed for the Automatic Purification System. Multiple factions of Magical Girls now compete to collect these stones, with the main groups being the Union, the Tokime Clan, the Neo-Magius, and the hostile Promised Blood from Futatsugi.[4]
The Union holds an advantage as Ui can sense the Kimochi, however, using her as a beacon also makes her a target and risks drawing their enemies into repeated battles. The Union debates how to proceed, wanting to avoid conflict but recognizing the need to collect the Kimochi before their rivals.[4]
The tension is temporarily interrupted by the "Decagon Stamp Rally," a public event offering a group ticket to Moo-Moo Farm as a prize. Felicia desperately wants to participate, and while Yachiyo initially refuses due to security concerns, Iroha convinces her to allow it as a morale-boosting activity and a way to appear inconspicuous in public.[4]
The Union, along with members of the Tokime Clan and other allies, participate in the stamp rally across Kamihama. During the event, members of Promised Blood, Hikaru and Ao, observe them from a distance, tasked with gathering information. They initially see the rally as frivolous but later consider participating to win the ranch ticket for Yuna.[4]
Meanwhile, Yuna and Juri return to Futatsugi to recruit new allies and confirm that Witches are reappearing in their home territory now that the Wings of the Magius are no longer capturing them.[4]
During the Decagon Stamp Rally, the Union uses the public event as cover to search for Kimochi Stones. Ui's ability to sense the stones allows them to narrow down the locations, but the Union's true plan is to lure out their rivals from Promised Blood, who are observing them. Members of the Tokime Clan, including Shizuka, Chiharu, and Sunao, assist the Union by waiting at a rendezvous point.[4]
Hikaru and Ao follow the Union, suspecting the stamp rally is a diversion. They confirm the Union is searching for a Kimochi in the Hokuyo forest area. The Union, aware they are being followed, pretend to be oblivious until the end of the rally.[4]
After the stamp rally concludes, Yachiyo, Mifuyu, and Tsuruno, ambush Hikaru and Ao in the Hokuyo area with the intent to capture them. Hikaru and Ao are overwhelmed in the battle, but manage to hold their own.[4]
Yuna and Juri arrive as reinforcements, allowing their teammates to escape. During the retreat, Shizuka orders a sniper to fire on the fleeing Promised Blood members. The shots are non-lethal, intended as a warning, and the confrontation ends with both sides withdrawing.[4]
After the battle, Juri locates Hagumu and Shigure, who have recently joined the Union but feel powerless. Juri intimidates them and forces them to become informants for Promised Blood, demanding their knowledge of Kamihama, specifically the Hokuyo area, in exchange for not harming them.[4]
At the Satomi Medical Center, Momoko visits Karin and Alina, who appears to have amnesia. Momoko suspects it is a ruse to avoid responsibility for her past actions, but Alina states she has chosen to remain in the hospital because her "opus," which Karin implies is herself, is there.[4]
Iroha and Yachiyo plan to visit Karin in the hospital and then continue the search for the Kimochi in the Hokuyo area. They have a general idea of its location from the previous day's reconnaissance. Separately, Kagome decides to follow Yuna and Promised Blood to record their story, and Yuna permits her to do so.[4]
At the hospital, Karin is recovering well. The group discusses Alina and her alleged amnesia. The doctors cannot confirm or deny her condition, and Karin believes she is genuine. Yachiyo and Iroha remain suspicious but are unable to take action.[4]
Eighth Day
Yuna enacts a plan to distract the Kamihama Magical Girls. She uses her unique magic to imbue dozens of ordinary stones with magical energy. She then has these stones transported into Kamihama by various means, including on trains. To any Magical Girl sensing the area, it appears as though a massive army of hundreds of Magical Girls is invading the city from all directions.[4]
Her plan works, with Tsuruno, Felicia, the Amane sisters, and Hinano all reporting a sudden, overwhelming influx of magical signatures entering Kamihama. The Union and their allies are forced to divert their attention and manpower to these perceived invasion points to defend the city.[4]
This diversion leaves Iroha and Yachiyo with minimal support to search for the Hokuyo Kimochi. They decide to continue the search with a small team, and the Tokime Clan, led by Shizuka, decide to assist in the Kimochi hunt, recognizing the strategic importance of securing the stone before Promised Blood.[4]
Yuna's diversion is successful and many Union members detect what appears to be a massive invasion via train. They converge on Central Ward to investigate, but the "invading Magical Girls" are revealed to be fakes—ordinary stones imbued with Yuna's magic. Hikaru acts as a decoy to keep them occupied, until Yozuru appears and stops the fighting, letting them know that fighting in a Coordinator's area is prohibited.[4]
Simultaneously, in the Hokuyo mountains, Iroha and Shizuka's team is ambushed by Promised Blood. Yuna, Juri, and Ao, having used information coerced from Shigure and Hagumu, surround them. A pursuit ensues through the forest where Shizuka is wounded by Ao.[4]
Shigure and Hagumu, decide to deliberately mislead Yuna's forces and provide Iroha's group with a secret escape route, allowing them to flee. Iroha's team escapes the mountains without securing the Kimochi.[4]
After the battle, the team regroups with the others in Central Ward, where Shizuka is forcefully taken by Sudachi and successfully treated by Puella Care. The conflict ends with Promised Blood failing to capture Ui or the Kimochi, but successfully preventing the Union from securing it and the stalemate continuing.[4]
The skirmish in the mountains of Hokuyo Ward resulted in Promised Blood securing the area where a Kimochi is located, but they are unable to locate its Labyrinth. The Kamihama group regroups to strategize and Yachiyo receives intel from Mifuyu, who deduces that the Kimochi's Labyrinth is located within the ruins of Hotel Fendt Hope. Mifuyu proposes a plan to infiltrate the hotel and secure the Kimochi while minimizing direct combat.[4]
Ninth Day
The following day at dawn, Mifuyu and the Amane sisters enter the area to negotiate with Promised Blood. They propose a contest: the Union will reveal the Labyrinth's location, and both sides will then race to defeat the Kimochi inside, with only three members from each team allowed to enter at a time. Promised Blood, represented by Juri, agrees to the terms.[4]
Ui locates the Labyrinth within Fendt Hope. As planned, reinforcements from both sides arrive, balancing their numbers. The combined groups proceed into the hotel, with the Union members guiding Promised Blood through the familiar corridors. The Union team leads Promised Blood to a chapel deep within the Labyrinth, also the designated ambush point. On Mifuyu's signal, the Union members destroy the staircase leading into the chapel, trapping the Promised Blood team inside. The plan is for the Union members to then escape through a hidden passage to regroup with Yachiyo's team and defeat the Kimochi unopposed. However, Promised Blood anticipated this betrayal, and Juri and her team immediately attack, preventing the Union members from fleeing. The trap backfires, leaving both groups confined in the chapel and initiating a direct battle.[4]
Three battles occur simultaneously. Iroha's team fights the Uwasa of the Queen Bear outside of Hotel Fendt Hope, part of the Union and the Tokime fight Yuna and other members of Promised Blood inside of the hotel, and Mifuyu's and Momoko's teams fight Juri and Ao's teams in the chapel. After the Uwasa is defeated, the Falling - Turquoise Ear Kimochi appears. Shizuka and the Tokime Clan join the battle and she, alongside Felicia defeat it, however the Kimochi Stone is bonded to Felicia. With the Kimochi defeated, all groups retreat from the area.[4]
Yuna realizes they cannot locate new Kimochi without Ui, who can sense them. However, she reveals she has a plan to force the Union's hand. Meanwhile, Iroha's group holds a celebratory dinner at Mikazuki Villa for Shizuka's recovery. Iroha invites former Neo-Magius members Shigure and Hagumu. While shopping for the dinner, Iroha, Yachiyo, Tsuruno, Ui, Shigure, and Hagumu hear cries for help from an alley. They find an unknown Magical Girl, Urara Yume, being harassed by members of Promised Blood. The Union members drive the attackers away. During the confrontation, Tsuruno instructs Shigure and Hagumu to stay back and protect Ui and the rescued girl. However, after the fight, they discover the rescued girl has vanished and Ui has been kidnapped. Shigure and Hagumu confess they were coerced by Promised Blood to act as accomplices, and the "attack" was a ruse to separate Ui from them.[4]
Afterwards, as Shigure and Hagumu are alone, the Magical Girl Himena Aika appears, mocking them for their weakness, and offers to bring them to the top.[4]
Episode 4
Nayuta Satomi moves into a house prepared by her missing father. Her father, Tasuke, is a folklorist who had been collaborating with her to research and publish a book exposing the truth about Magical Girls to the world. Accompanied by Lavi Himuro, Nayuta begins her search for her father in Kamihama, a city he indicated was safe.[4]
Nayuta meets a local named Mikage. Despite Nayuta's initial reluctance, Mikage insists on helping with the search, sharing a common goal of wanting the world to acknowledge Magical Girls. Nayuta's first lead is her uncle, the director of Satomi Medical Center. However, their visit is interrupted by Rena and Kaede, who mistakenly believe Nayuta and Mikage are hostile reinforcements for Promised Blood. The ensuing confrontation and chase force Nayuta to run away.[4]
Nayuta shifts her strategy, deciding to find veteran Magical Girls Yachiyo Nanami and Mifuyu Azusa, whom her father had interviewed years earlier. Mikage reveals she knows of them and directs Nayuta to the western part of the city. While waiting in Sankyo Ward, Nayuta and Mikage encounter a Witch and assist Rena and Kaede in defeating it, hoping to prove their peaceful intentions. After the battle, Rena and Kaede agree to take Nayuta to meet other Union leaders to vet her. However, Mikage panics at the mention of the Coordinator and expresses a desire to go to the ocean instead.[4]
The Kamihama Magical Girls discuss the newcomers. Yachiyo and Tsuruno conclude they are not a threat, as they are weak, unadjusted to Kamihama's Witches, and targeting Alina would not benefit Promised Blood's primary goal. The Union decides to find and talk to them.[4]
Sana and Sunao find Nayuta and Mikage shortly after their fight with Ranka of Promised Blood. They rescue the two and take them to Mitama's Coordinator Shop for safety and to cleanse their Soul Gems.[4]
At the Coordinator's Shop, Union members gather and Mitama is shocked to see her younger sister, Mikage. Nayuta explains her reasons for being in Kamihama is that her father, Tasuke Satomi, told her the city was safe for Magical Girls, and he has gone missing after his last known location was traced there. She reveals they were collaborating on a book to expose the truth about Magical Girls to the world.[4]
Yachiyo, Shizuka, and Kagome all confirm separate encounters with Tasuke, and the conversation reveals that Nayuta is the cousin of Touka. Touka arrives, and Nayuta accuses her of having mocked her father's research years earlier, quoting hurtful comments Touka made about his book on Magical Girls. Touka apologizes profusely, admitting her past mistake and stating she now believes in her uncle's work. Nayuta declares she does not forgive Touka but agrees to a ceasefire for the time being. Nayuta and Mikage then leave the shop.[4]
After their departure, Mitama and Kanagi discuss the difficulty of restraining Mikage and the secret of Mitama's own wish.[4]
Mikage meets with Kyubey and states she has decided on her wish.[4]
Another Story Chapter 2
At Mikazuki Villa, Iroha sends a message to invite Shigure and Hagumu to a dinner party. At the Neo-Magius headquarters, Shigure receives the message. Hagumu leaves her club activities and meets Shigure. They are approached by Juri from Promised Blood, who questions them about a rumor of collaboration between her group and Eastern Kamihama Magical Girls. Shigure and Hagumu explain the East-West conflict has subsided.
(The next day) Shigure and Hagumu meet with Kanagi, who takes them to visit several Eastern Magical Girls. They observe a peaceful, supportive community, and Kanagi invites them to reintegrate. Later, Juri summons them again to press for information, but the two girls choose to lie and claim to have no useful intelligence.
(That evening) Shigure and Hagumu discuss their decision, resolving to remain with the Union for the time being. They decide to accept Iroha's repeated invitation to a dinner party to maintain a polite facade as Union members.
Tenth Day
Promised Blood has kidnapped Ui and taken her to Futatsugi City. Their objective is to force Ui to reveal the locations of the powerful entities known as Kimochi. Ui is held captive in a base in Futatsugi, guarded by members including Urara.[5]
In Kamihama City, Iroha and her team at Mikazuki Villa learn of Ui's abduction. They formulate a plan to locate Promised Blood's base and Touka provides them with GPS transmitters to plant on Promised Blood members. Teams led by Kanagi in the east and Yachiyo in the west successfully place several transmitters while fighting Promised Blood members during the day.[5]
The transmitter signals all vanish simultaneously at the border between Kamihama and Futatsugi, leading Yachiyo to theorize the targets entered a Witch's Labyrinth. As Hikaru's teams, return home from Kamihama, they use a shortcut througha Mirrors Labyrinth.[5]
That night, Ui manages to write a note for Lil' Kyubey containing an encrypted message, as well as a map for the Kimochi she's detected. However, he's intercepted by Juri and Yuna, who take a part of the note which contained a map, and leave Lil' Kyubey to take the rest to Kamihama.[5]
Eleventh Day
Yachiyo and Touka discuss the paths the GPS devices took and thy theorize that they were using a shortcut through an Endless Mirrors Labyrinth. Tsuruno identifies a Promised Blood infiltrator at school named Sakuya Suzuka. Iroha and Tsuruno confront Sakuya, who implies Ui is still alive but refuses to reveal her location.[5]
Shortly after the confrontation, Lil' Kyubey arrives at Mikazuki Villa in a battered state, carrying a letter from Ui. Sana deciphers the letter, which is written in a code based on a cartoon, and confirms Ui is being held in Futatsugi City and that she created a map of the Kimochi locations, but Lil' Kyubey lost it during its escape.[5]
Twelfth Day
Touka's hacking of the Promised Blood members' phones confirms their base is in Futatsugi. Iroha's team decides to launch a rescue mission immediately, believing most of Promised Blood is in Kamihama searching for a Kimochi.[5]
Concurrently in Kamihama, Promised Blood, having obtained the Kimochi map from Lil' Kyubey, identifies the next target in Minaminagi Ward. They use the guidance of Shigure and Hagumu, whom they called from a meeting with Himena, to help them locate it. The Union's eastern and southern forces, informed through Lil' Kyubey and led by Kanagi and Hinano, arrive to contest the Kimochi as well.[5]
Yuna receives word that Iroha's team is heading to Futatsugi. She immediately abandons the Kamihama operation, taking Hikaru and a contingent of members back to Futatsugi to intercept them, intending to use the city's lack of an Automatic Purification System to her advantage. The remaining Promised Blood members, led by Juri and Ao, stay in Kamihama to fight the Union for the Kimochi.[5]
In Futatsugi City, Iroha's rescue team infiltrates Promised Blood's base but finds Ui has been moved. The team is ambushed by members of Promised Blood, including Yuna, who arrived far more quickly than anticipated. In the ensuing battle, Promised Blood successfully separates Iroha from the rest of the group and she is pursued by Hikaru, whom she fights to reach Futatsugi Station.[5]
Yachiyo and the rest of the team are cornered in the city but are given critical information by Sakuya, who warns them that the station is a trap and reveals that Yuna now intends to kill Ui and advises them to hide for the night.[5]
Iroha defeats Hikaru, leaving her unconscious, but chooses to cleanse her Soul Gem rather than leave her to her fate. After she wakes, the two part ways and with her phone dead and unable to regroup, Iroha is forced to spend the night alone in Futatsugi.[5]
Meanwhile, in Minaminagi Ward, a three-way battle against the Kimochi's guarding Uwasa of the Misery Rhyton occurs between the Union's east-south team, Promised Blood, and the newly invigorated Neo-Magius. The Union, led by Kanagi, clears a path through a protective Uwasa but is exhausted by the effort.[5]
The Neo-Magius, under its new leader Himena and her associate Alexandra Kurusu, arrive to observe and gather information instead of fighting. Himena encourages Ao of Promised Blood to take the lead. Empowered by a new resolve, Ao leads her team and successfully defeats the Kimochi, Beauteous - Pearl Eye, claiming the Kimochi Stone as a bracelet.[5]
After the battle, Shigure and Hagumu formally align themselves with Promised Blood, and the Union teams, defeated and exhausted, retreat for the day.[5]
Later that night, Hikaru reports to Yuna that she lost Iroha. Yuna, having failed to eliminate Iroha's team in the city, begins preparations for a new plan to lure Iroha into the Futatsugi catacombs with one of Ui's air ties.[5]
In Kamihama, Kagome and Ryo Midori begin a collaboration to document the truth about Magical Girls. Ryo also receives a tip from Touka to investigate a suspicious location in Daito Ward.[5]
Episode 3
(During the initial search for Ui) Shizuka, troubled by Yuna's words that condemned her selfless nature, returns to Tokime Village with Sunao and Chiharu at their mothers' request. They are joined by other branch family members, including Asahi.[5]
(Over the next few days) in Tokime Village, Shizuka confides in her friends and mother about her feelings of hatred towards Yuna, which her mother identifies as a new, powerful emotion for Shizuka. Her mother decides to teach her a secret Tokime technique, "Gaze Locking," which requires strong emotional intent to use.[5]
While organizing historical Diviner documents for a village exhibit, the group discovers diaries revealing the tragic fate of past Diviners, who were exploited and killed by the former village chief, Mikoshiba. This reinforces Shizuka's resolve to carry on their legacy and the village also deals with a theft, which is resolved by the mothers.[5]
Shizuka's mother trains her in the "Gaze Locking" technique. Through this training, Shizuka concludes that the key difference between the Tokime Clan and other Magical Girls is their lifelong cultural immersion and dedication to serving the Land of the Rising Sun, a legacy they must uphold.[5]
When the Tokime return to Kamihama, they learn that Promised Blood secured the Kimochi Stone in Minaminagi and that Ui remains captive. Shizuka declares that the Tokime Clan must now prioritize its own goals and identity over blind cooperation with the Union.[5]
They sense a new Kimochi in Hokuyo Ward and move to intercept Promised Blood, who are also searching for it. A three-way battle ensues between the two groups and the Kimochi's guardian Uwasa of the Flower Speaker. Shizuka uses her new Gaze Locking technique on Ao, momentarily incapacitating her. After a difficult fight, Juri and Ao secure the Kimochi Stone from Robust - Opal Head, exploiting the Tokime Clan's exhausted state after they launched a full-power assault. Despite the loss, Shizuka reaffirms her leadership and the unified resolve of the Tokime Clan to continue their mission.[5]
Elsewhere, Kagome resolves to use social media to spread information about Magical Girls, planning to seek help from Nemu and Touka.
Thirteenth Day
In the morning, in Futatsugi, Yachiyo's and Momoko's team prepares to raid Promised Blood's base based on a tip from Sakuya while Iroha is found by Yuna and her lackeys.[5]
Kagome discusses the threat of Promised Blood with Aru at the radio telescope. Aru assures her the group from Futatsugi City is preoccupied with the Kimochi Stones.[5]
In Futatsugi, Iroha is confronted by Yuna, who intends to kill her as revenge for the Bloody Tragedy that led to the deaths of many Futatsugi Magical Girls. Iroha attempts to negotiate for peace and cooperation, but Yuna rejects and takes her to Futatsugi's catacombs, their underground cemetery for Magical Girls, to demonstrate the scale of the loss Kamihama caused.[5]
At the catacombs, Yuna reveals that her sisters have secured two more Kimochi Stones, making Ui expendable. Hikaru presents Ui's hair tie and a Grief Seed, claiming Ui has been killed and turned into a Witch. Overwhelmed by grief and despair, Iroha's Soul Gem begins to corrupt rapidly, however, the Kimochi Stone in her bracelet intervenes, supplying her with magic and preventing her from becoming a Witch.[5]
Meanwhile, the rescue team led by Yachiyo storms Promised Blood's arcade base and successfully frees Ui, who is unharmed. Yachiyo's group, with information from Sakuya, locates the catacombs and intervenes before Iroha fully succumbs to despair. Out of respect for the dead, both sides agree to a temporary truce within the cemetery.[5]
After the rescue, the Kamihama group escapes Futatsugi by jumping onto a freight train. Kyubey appears and reveals critical information to all factions: only two Kimochi Stones remain to be found. Furthermore, to gain control of the Automatic Purification System, a single individual or faction must possess all the Stones.[5]
Later, at Mikazuki Villa, the group returns home exhausted but safe. Yachiyo meets with Mitama, who reveals a disturbing theory: the Endless Mirrors Witch is evolving, and its Labyrinth may be acting as a network for Magical Girls to warp between the cities.[5]
Elsewhere, the Tokime Clan discuss its future plans to become independent from the Kamihama Union while maintaining their alliance. Separately, Kyubey informs Kagome, Touka, and Nemu that while Magical Girls have been known in human history in some way, they were always recorded as legends or myths, and there is no efficient way to reveal their true nature to the modern world.[5]
Episode 5
Kagome Satori reflects on the escalating conflict in Kamihama and Futatsugi City over the Kimochi Stones. Her thoughts turn to Nayuta, the daughter of Tasuke, who first taught Kagome about Magical Girls. Kagome worries for Nayuta's safety as she searches for her missing father in the dangerous city.[5]
Mitama performs a magic adjustment on her sister, Mikage. Despite Mitama's concerns for her safety, Mikage insists on helping Nayuta find her father to help spread the truth about Magical Girls. Mitama reluctantly gives her permission and asks Nayuta to look after Mikage.[5]
Nayuta and Mikage meet with Touka's father at Satomi Medical Center to inquire about Tasuke. He reveals he is also searching for his brother but has no leads. He criticizes Tasuke's focus on folklore and mentions his influence on Touka through a "strange book." This conversation causes Nayuta to reconsider her harsh judgment of Touka.[5]
Later that day, Nayuta, Mikage, and Lavi are recruited by Alina to model for a painting. Alina's abstract, cubist work and her comment about "returning to the entrance when lost" inspires Nayuta to re-examine her father's research from the beginning.[5]
Nayuta contacts Touka over the phone and apologizes for her previous attitude, asking for help. Touka agrees and traces an email Tasuke sent to Nayuta, discovering it originated from their own home in Takarazaki City. This implies Tasuke returned home only to disappear again, suggesting he may not want to be found.[5]
Fourteenth Day
In the Satomi Medical enter, Alina, still without her memories, creates a massive, interconnected painting. The finished work depicts a landscape that Mifuyu and Karin identify as the interior of the Endless Mirrors Labyrinth. Alina states the image came from "someone deep within" her, making Karin and Mifuyu wonder who Alina could be referring to.[5]
Another Story Chapter 3
Sakuya is summoned to the Ryuugasaki base by Juri and Ranka. They confront her about her recent actions, having deduced she was the source of the leaked information that led to the failed missions against Iroha and the rescue of Ui. Sakuya confesses immediately, explaining she acted to prevent Yuna from crossing a moral line by killing people she had personally known and spoken with. She believes this would permanently destroy the kind person Yuna once was. Juri is enraged and nearly attacks Sakuya, but Ranka intervenes, arguing that Yuna, as the First Sister, should make the final judgment.
Later, Sakuya reflects on her past, remembering how Yuna’s kindness saved her when she was a new, frightened Magical Girl. She recalls Yuna’s past mercy, even towards rivals like Juri, whom she defeated but spared. Sakuya resolves to save Yuna from becoming a "demon" on the inside.
Juri reports Sakuya’s confession to Yuna. Despite Juri’s insistence on harsh punishment, Yuna decides to be lenient, placing Sakuya under surveillance by Hikaru. Yuna states that if Sakuya interferes with their plans again, she will deal with her personally.
The next day, Sakuya, now demoted and distrusted by her peers, is assigned to a general patrol group. Her first mission is to investigate and eliminate any Magical Girls from Kamihama found in Futatsugi. She soon encounters the idol Sayuki Fumino and her friends, Mayu Kozue and Ria Ami, who have come to Futatsugi for a performance. Sakuya lures them into an alley to ambush them, however, another Promised Blood member, who is a fan of Sayuki, intervenes to protect the idol. Sakuya, understanding the girl’s inability to harm someone she loves, stages a fight to allow the Kamihama group to escape, and this act of mercy is witnessed by Hikaru, who reports it to Yuna.
That night, Yuna summons Sakuya to the Futatsugi catacombs. Declaring Sakuya’ actions unforgivable, Yuna agrees to hear her out only if Sakuya can defeat her in a duel. In a desperate fight, Sakuya manages to land a single blow on Yuna. Impressed by her resolve, Yuna and Juri spare her life, and through telepathy, Yuna reveals that she needs Sakuya to stay by her side specifically to ensure she does not lose her humanity completely.
Sakuya agrees to rejoin Promised Blood and fight for Futatsugi, but only after securing Yuna’s promise to show some mercy to their enemies. At dawn, the three watch the sunrise from a bridge, with Sakuya inwardly vowing to remain at Yuna’s side to protect her heart until the conflict ends.
Fourteenth Day
After the rescue of Ui and the distribution of Kimochi Stones, Kagome reflects on her feelings of inadequacy and anxiety as a desperate struggle for the two remaining Kimochi Stones looms. She observes the various factions in Kamihama are all in motion.[6]
Throughout the day, Ryo acts against the agreed-upon ceasefire and goes to the eastern part of Kamihama to investigate the potential secret route or shortcut used by Promised Blood.[6]
Iroha's team struggles to arrange a meeting with Yuna and they eventually enlist Sakuya, who acts as a spy within the Union, to mediate. Yuna agrees to hear the Union's proposal and that night, Juri breaks into Mikazuki Villa to deliver Yuna's terms for negotiations. The Union must first use Ui's power to locate a Kimochi Stone Labyrinth at the Minaminagi cargo port, breaking the stalemate between Promised Blood and the Tokime Clan. The Union accepts these terms.[6]
Fifteenth Day
A preliminary meeting is held at Shizuku's family cafe between Union members Iroha, Yachiyo, and Tsuruno, and Promised Blood members Hikaru and Sakuya. The former Magius, Touka and Nemu, also attend.[6]
The Union's initial proposal to work together to save all Magical Girls, including those in Futatsugi City, is rejected as insufficient. Iroha's desperate suggestion for the Union to surrender is also dismissed by her own team as unworkable. Touka and Nemu then present their own offer that they will surrender their lives and Soul Gems to Promised Blood as atonement for the Magius' crimes against Futatsugi. Hikaru and Sakuya state they must take this extreme proposal back to Yuna for a final decision.[6]
While awaiting Yuna's response, Iroha and Hikaru have a brief, awkward interaction due to their particular personal side to the conflict. Meanwhile, Kagome, Touka, and Nemu observe the events and express concern over Ryo's independent investigation into Promised Blood's secret route to Kamihama.[6]
Sixteenth Day
During the negotiations, at the Minaminagi cargo port, Ui, Sana, and Felicia fulfill the Union's part of the agreement by locating the Kimochi Labyrinth. The Uwasa within the Labyrinth manifests as a holographic AI reminiscent of Ai. This Uwasa cannot be harmed by conventional attacks and demands one of the three girls remain with it.[6]
Sana deduces the Uwasa's weakness is not combat, but companionship, so she, Ui, and Felicia befriend the AI by playing card games with it. This act of kindness satisfies the Uwasa, which voluntarily departs, revealing the Kimochi, Drifting - Diamond Hair.[6]
A battle for the stone ensues between the Union trio, Tokime Clan, and Promised Blood. During the fight, Shigure and Hagumu arrive and openly rebel against their Promised Blood superiors, Juri and Ranka. The Tokime Clan, with support from Ui, Sana, and Felicia, successfully claims the Kimochi Stone, which Charu becomes the host of.[6]
As Juri threatens the defectors, Sana receives a message from Iroha. The negotiations between the Union and Promised Blood have broken down. Yuna has left the cargo port and is now targeting the Union's Southern faction at Kamihama Prison. Ui, Sana, and Felicia immediately depart to provide support.[6]
Simultaneously, the Neo-Magius, led by Himena and Livia, intercept the Tokime Clan, stating they have business with them. * The Tokime Clan is ambushed by the Neo-Magius, and during the fight, the Neo-Magius, using their new members San Kagura and Miyuri Yukari, sever Chiharu Hiroe's arm and steal the Tokime Clan's Kimochi Stone of Fear. At Kamihama Prison, staff begin emergency preparations for a large influx of casualties, anticipating severe violence.[6]
Episode 3
(Eight days before negotiations) The Kamihama Union holds a council where they decide to pursue a cooperative route with Promised Blood. They also discuss the threat of the Endless Mirrors Witch, whose connected Labyrinths act as a potential shortcut between Kamihama and Futatsugi. Ryo presents a photo suggesting a Mirrors offshoot in Daito's Swindlers' Town, and the Union agrees to investigate Mirrors, but only after negotiations conclude.[6]
(Three days before negotiations) Hinano becomes suspicious of Ryo's secretive behavior regarding the Mirrors investigation. Ryo's interest in the shortcut remains, despite the Union's temporary ceasefire.[6]
(One day before negotiations) Alina, seeking to recover her lost memories tied to the Mirrors Witch, confronts Ryo and invites her to investigate the Mirrors offshoot in Daito. Ryo, frustrated by the Union's inaction, accepts the offer.[6]
Sixteenth Day
Ryo and Alina, followed by Hinano, Ikumi, and Karin, go to Kamihama Prison, which Alina identifies as the location of the Mirrors offshoot. Ryo enters the prison's underground Labyrinth alone to find evidence of the shortcut.[6]
Promised Blood, monitoring the area, detects the Union's movement. Yuna receives a report that Union members are attempting to cut off the path to Kamihama. Interpreting this as a betrayal during active negotiations, Yuna immediately declares the talks broken off.[6]
Ryo successfully locates and photographs the secret entrance to the Mirrors shortcut within the prison. As she escapes, she is cornered by Ao and Juri. A large battle erupts outside the prison between Union reinforcements and Promised Blood forces sent to stop Ryo and destroy her evidence. The conflict escalates as both sides mobilize their members, leading to a city-wide confrontation.[6]
Ryo is killed by Ao during their confrontation. Ao's intent was to destroy Ryo's camera, but her attack instead shatters Ryo's Soul Gem. The Union arrives too late to save her and Yuna crushes the camera, destroying the evidence of the Mirrors shortcut.[6]
Ikumi's grief summons the final Kimochi, Unmoving - Garnet Pinky, which doesn't have a guarding Uwasa. The Kimochi's power is immense and overwhelms both the Union and Promised Blood. Iroha, aided by the Kimochi power within her own bracelet, creates an opening for Ikumi. Ikumi successfully claims the Kimochi of Grief.[6]
With all eight Kimochi Stones collected by a Magical Girl, a new Labyrinth manifests. The collective consciousness of the Kimochi Stones, identifying itself as "Eve," uses Ui's body to announce a new phase. They state that the Stones will now choose their bearers from among the present Magical Girls and others who can hear the Kimochi's call. This intervention prevents Yuna from carrying out her threat to assassinate Union members, as the targets are swallowed by the Labyrinth for protection.[6]
Meanwhile, the Tokime go to Livia's Puella Care trailer to help Charu, and while she will need time to recover, Livia successfully reattaches Charu's arm. Juri and her group also go there to heal, and Shizuka recounts the events to her.[6]
At Mikazuki Villa, the Union receives a declaration of war from the Neo-Magius. To ensure their safety, Touka and Nemu move the group to a secure, high-tech underground shelter provided by the Satomi Group. They plan to use this facility for their final project with Kagome, which is the broadcasting the truth about Magical Girls to the world.[6]
Kagome sadly notes that with Ryo's death, their joined project of the "Midori Report" is officially discontinued.[6]
Kagome reflects that Ryo's death cost the Magical Girls their last chance for unity. She determines that outsiders who know the truth must act to stop the fighting and will need the help of Tasuke.[6]
Episode 5
Nayuta continues her search for her missing father with her Lavi and Mikage. Security camera footage from her old home provides a new lead and Lavi suggests Tasuke may be hiding intentionally, but Nayuta dismisses the idea.[6]
Nayuta and Mikage encounter Mifuyu, Tsukuyo, and Tsukasa, who are running errands for Alina. They assist them and during their conversation, Nayuta learns that Mifuyu and Yachiyo were once interviewed by Tasuke. The group discusses family, and Nayuta reveals her parents are divorced and she has no contact with her mother. Mikage suggests Tasuke's disappearance may be an attempt to protect Nayuta from involvement in dangerous matters and this gives Nayuta the idea to contact her mother for information.[6]
Nayuta meets with her uncle, Touka's father and the director of the Satomi Medical Center. He agrees to help her contact her mother, but assigns her homework: to formulate her own answer about "what it's like to lose a loved one." He schedules a follow-up meeting in three days and states he will also invite Touka.[6]
Nayuta struggles with the assignment, discussing it with Lavi and Mikage. Her initial philosophical answers about hope and cosmic unity feel insufficient. She has a flashback to her parents' final argument, where her father blamed her mother's change in personality on a "Magical Girl's wish." Nayuta realizes her own wish as a Magical Girl may have been the cause of her parents' divorce, and that her true feeling about loss is simple sorrow and anguish.[6]
Three days later, Nayuta and Touka meet with their uncle. Touka presents a clinical, scientific view of loss as an inevitable part of natural selection, while Nayuta presents her simpler answer of sorrow and anguish. Their uncle accepts Nayuta's answer and agrees to contact her mother. He advises Touka to focus on her immediate surroundings rather than lofty, city-wide plans.[6]
Nayuta meets her mother at a cafe in Takarazaki. Nayuta apologizes for her past hatred and confesses that despite her complex feelings, she also loves her mother and feels a void from her absence. Her mother gives Nayuta the information she has gathered on Tasuke's whereabouts.[6]
Nayuta returns home, emotionally drained but with new information. Lavi and Mikage comfort her. As Nayuta reviews the data from her mother, she finds a discrepancy regarding her father's activities in Yukuni City around the time of his disappearance.[6]
Suddenly, Lavi receives a letter delivered directly to the house, with no postmark, addressed to Nayuta in Tasuke's handwriting. Nayuta reads the letter and becomes distraught, declaring it isn't from Tasuke. Lavi reads the discarded letter, which states that "Tasuke" has given up on saving Magical Girls. The letter claims that the collection of the Kimochi Stones and the actions of the Magical Girls are advancing a doomed timeline, and that the observers may eventually be forced to "take lives" to keep the Magical Girls alive.[6]
Seventeenth Day
The morning after Ryo's death, Yozuru and Sudachi investigate Mikazuki Villa and find a window shattered by a magical attack, confirming the Union leaders have been targeted. They report this to Livia, who tasks them with investigating the previous day's events and providing care to any Magical Girls they encounter, but instructs them not to mention Ryo's death to avoid appearing intrusive.[7]
Yozuru and Sudachi visit Hozumi Coffeehouse. Yozuru notices Shizuku's Soul Gem is cloudy and purifies it, receiving coffee blending tips as thanks. They then go to Emiri's Consultation Office, where Emiri, Asuka, and Sasara are distressed. Yozuru makes them coffee using the new blend and the girls, seeking information, ask Yozuru what is happening in the city. Yozuru admits she knows little, and they become too upset to drink the coffee, which Yozuru later learns is the same blend Ryo frequently ordered.[7]
Shortly after, Yozuru and Sudachi sense a Doppel and find Shizuku in a nearby park, having just unleashed hers due to grief over Ryo. Ayaka reveals she has been secretly watching over Shizuku since the previous day but felt unable to help her directly. Yozuru and Sudachi realize their efforts to provide care have been ineffective, and they are unable to alleviate the profound sadness affecting the Magical Girls.[7]
Simultaneously, outside the city, Livia meets with Kyubey. Kyubey states the current situation with the Kimochi Stones is an unpredictable deviation, and he reveals he did not orchestrate the events and is also observing the outcome. He requests that Livia keep watch over Kagome Satori.[7]
That evening, Yozuru and Sudachi return to the Puella Care trailer, disheartened by their inability to help anyone. They report their failures to Livia, who shares that Kyubey also finds the situation unexpected and has asked her to observe the non-Magical Girl Kagome. Yozuru and Sudachi, overwhelmed by the day's events, find they have no appetite for dinner.[7]
Eighteenth Day
A few days after the Kimochi's declaration, the factions and their primary objectives are defined. Promised Blood engages in guerrilla tactics, targeting individual Union members who possess Kimochi Stones to exhaust them. Whenever any of the selected girls are about to fight each other, their bracelets will envelop them in a Labyrinth in order to have them fight with each other. [8]
Iroha is ambushed by Hikaru, who demands her Kimochi Stone, and Iroha is horrified that Hikaru is unconcerned about Ryo's death. Yachiyo Nanami and Tsuruno Yui arrive to assist Iroha. Kagome also observes this fight from within the conflict zone, noting she can enter without being isolated, likely because she is not a Magical Girl.[8]
Afterwards, Hinano informs Ikumi that Iroha was targeted. Ikumi, still grieving for Ryo, is struggling to maintain her composure. Hinano encourages her to continue grieving.[8]
In a meeting, Himena meets with Kyubey and questions how the Automatic Purification System would be used if acquired. Kyubey confirms that if one could acquire all the Kimochi Stones and bring the system under control, it would not be impossible. Himena is satisfied with this answer and is joined by San and Miyuri.[8]
Later, at Mikazuki Villa, the Union members discuss the ongoing attacks from Promised Blood. Yachiyo deduces that Promised Blood is intentionally trying to cut down the Union members chosen by the Kimochi, so they decide to meet with the Tokime Clan to discuss the situation and the recent theft of Chiharu's Kimochi Stone.[8]
The Union meets with Shizuka, Chiharu, and Sunao of the Tokime Clan. Shizuka formally announces the end of their alliance with the Union, wit the reason being fundamental difference in their stances on being Magical Girls. The Tokime take pride in their role as protectors and do not view their contracts with Kyubey negatively, whereas the Union does. Despite this, the Tokime express that they hold no hostility toward the Union and would prefer if the Union were the last group standing alongside them. They agree to focus on different enemies—the Tokime will target the Neo-Magius, and the Union will focus on Promised Blood—and vow to cross blades in a final confrontation.[8]
That night at Mikazuki Villa, Iroha confesses to Yachiyo that she cannot see a clear goal amidst the chaotic conflict. Yachiyo states that the possibility of an ending where everyone is saved was lost in the prison incident. Iroha also mentions her concern for Rena after she'd befriended Ranka, who turned out to be a member of Promised Blood. The other Union members, along with Ui, comfort Iroha.[8]
Nineteenth Day
Hagumu and Shigure report to Himena that they have observed no contact between the Union and Tokime, confirming the dissolution of their alliance. The Neo-Magius begin to formulate a plan and Himena reveals she still intends to recruit Shizuka into their ranks, believing their groups are similar. She tasks Hagumu and Shigure with attempting to persuade Shizuka despite their reluctance. After talking with Himena, Alexandra reports back to Folklore of Zero through the phone.[8]
Twentieth Day
At Suitoku Temple, using Chika's ability to communicate with animals, the Tokime have discovered that Himena attends Kamihama Future Academy in Sakae Ward. They plan a targeted strike against Himena, believing that eliminating the Neo-Magius' central pillar will cause the group to collapse. Shizuka, Chiharu, and Sunao agree that a small, focused attack is their best strategy.[8]
Twenty-first Day
Hagumu and Shigure arrive at the temple on Himena's orders and they deliver the offer to join the Neo-Magius. Shizuka flatly refuses, stating that as long as their resentment remains, she will not offer her hand, though she might reach behind her back instead. After they leave, the Tokime finalize their plan to ambush Himena.[8]
Twenty-second Day
That night, Chiharu, Chika, Ryoko, and members of the Tokime ambush Himena near her school and Chiharu confronts her about her lack of malice while hurting others, which she finds even more dangerous. Himena expounds on the Neo-Magius ideology of Magical Girl Supremacy, arguing that Magical Girls are superior humans who should rule over ordinary people. She invites Chiharu to join her, but Chiharu rejects this philosophy entirely.[8]
Alexandra and then the rest of the Neo-Magius arrive as reinforcements, so the Tokime, recognizing they are outnumbered, make a tactical retreat. After the battle, Himena reveals to her team that she confirmed the Tokime Clan is not a monolith and she sensed one member seemed interested in her words. She devises a new plan to "break" the Tokime from within, involving the creation of a specific costume.[8]
Alexandra contacts Folklore of Zero to report on Himena's movements, but Himena had followed her and confronts Alexandra. She reveals her true affiliation and her role as an observer. She also delivers a prophecy to her that if Himena achieves her goals, she will die. Himena dismisses this and vows to prevent it, and for now, Alexandra is allowed to remain in the Neo-Magius.[8]
Later, Union members discuss the ongoing situation and they receive reports that the Tokime attacked the Neo-Magius leader and that Promised Blood continues their guerrilla tactics. They debate attacking the prison but decide they need a more decisive strategy. Mifuyu reports that Alina, in an attempt to recover her memories, has agreed to cooperate with a team to map the Mirrors Labyrinth.[8]
Iroha contacts Yachiyo with news that Ikumi, overwhelmed by grief for Ryo, has run away and is likely heading for Kamihama Prison alone. Iroha and Momoko pursue her to stop her.[8]
At the prison entrance, Hinano and Sakurako catch up to Ikumi and try to reason with her. Ikumi breaks down, stating that crying is not enough and she cannot forgive Ryo's killer. Sakurako, using Ryo's memories, tells Ikumi that Ryo would not want this and would prefer to see her smiling, which manages to reach Ikumi, and she agrees to stand down. Iroha suggests that cleaning and organizing the belongings of the deceased can be a way to mourn and sort through one's own feelings. Ikumi decides she wants to clean out Ryo's old newspaper clubroom at school.[8]
Kagome speaks with Iroha over the phone, who admits she is lost in the tangled conflict but still wishes for a way for everyone to be happy without anyone getting hurt. Kagome reaffirms her own goal of telling the world about Magical Girls, though she feels anxiety about how far she can follow the battle. Iroha suggests she consult Nemu Hiiragi for potential help.[8]
Twenty-third Day
A team consisting of Mifuyu, Yachiyo, Kanagi, and the Amane sisters prepares to investigate the Endless Mirrors Labyrinth with Alina, who is creating a map. After they depart, Yachiyo and Kanagi discuss the city's changing political landscape and Kanagi reveals she is assisting Mitama with the mayoral election, where an Eastern candidate is, for the first time, putting up a strong fight against the West.[8]
Iroha, Ui, Sana, and Felicia investigate the university library, where they find a partial map of Kamihama Prison's underground area. They are confronted by Shigure and Hagumu, who make a final, futile attempt to recruit them into the Neo-Magius. Later, Yachiyo and Tsuruno meet up with Iroha's group and they receive the news about Ryo's phone and the map she'd made.[8]
Touka, Nemu, and Kagome collaborate with Nayuta on a project to reveal the existence of Magical Girls to the world. Their plan involves using impactful images, which are to be gathered by Kagome and Rii, powerful text, written by Kagome and refined by Nemu, and a presentation strategy devised by Touka. They aim to post their work as high-quality "creative fiction" to gain a massive online following before revealing it as the truth, using Nayuta's missing father's media contacts to amplify the message. Nayuta, despite her doubts, agrees to help, partly to prove her father's pessimistic letter wrong. As part of this project, Kagome asks Touka and Nemu to help "complete" her Uwasa, the Wind Evangelist, to better protect her during her information-gathering missions. They also agree, seeing it as a necessary step.[8]
At Hozuki High School, Ikumi, Hinano, and Sakurako clean the newspaper clubroom, which belonged to Ryo. Ikumi has brought Ryo's broken camera, which was damaged by Promised Blood. During the cleaning, they discover Ryo's old photos and Sakurako reveals that Ryo's camera automatically transferred photos to her smartphone. Realizing the phone may contain Ryo's final work from inside Kamihama Prison, they contact Touka to bypass the phone's security.[8]
In the radio telescope lab, they find that the phone contains a video message from Ryo, where she explains her method for navigating the prison's maze and how one can trace the correct path. In the event of her death, she'd also left personal messages for Hinano, Kanagi and Mitama, Sakurako and Ikumi. Touka and Nemu confirm that Ryo's photos perfectly fill in the missing parts of the Union's underground map, providing a clear route to Promised Blood's secret and the suspected Mirror Witch offshoot.[8]
At Kamihama Prison, Promised Blood plans to lure the Union into the prison, which they view as a perfect cage for their enemies. Yuna checks on Ao, who is struggling with the guilt from killing Ryo, but Yuna advises her to freeze her emotions like she does.[8]
The Neo-Magius plan to actively recruit members for their cause of Magical Girl Supremacy through a secret conference. Himena, San and Miyuri, learn from Kyubey and their own research that the Magius once summoned Walpurgisnacht and that Touka's family was involved in building a radio telescope. Himena devises a strategy to use the radio waves for a plan of her own, similar to how Touka did, as well as make costumes to infiltrate the Tokime.[8]
Twenty-fourth Day
While Charu, Chika, and other Tokime Tribe girls attempt to investigate the Neo-Magius in Kamihama, Neo-Magius agents, including San and Miyuri secretly embed themselves within the Tokime ranks with Tokime disguises as well. San and Miyuri, while in disguise, slowly try to get the other get the other girls more comfortable with the ideals of the Neo-Magius.[8]
At sunset, Charu and Chika return to report to Shizuka and Himena, San, and Miyuri arrive to confront them, where Himena reveals that their "erosion" tactic has succeeded and that several Tokime members, including Sunao and Chika, have already defected. A brief skirmish ensues, but Neo-Magius retreats, promising to return for the remaining members the next day.[8]
That night, Himena discusses with Alexandra how their tactics have unfolded until now and tells her that the two will visit Himena's hometown tomorrow.[8]
Twenty-fifth Day
The Kamihama Magia Union prepares to assault the city's prison to find and destroy the shortcut to Futatsugi created by the offshoot of the Mirrors Witch. At the Mikazuki Villa evacuation site, Kagome meets with Touka and Nemu to complete the Uwasa of the Wind Evangelist. Nemu explains that creating an Uwasa normally consumes a life-threatening amount of magic, but to mitigate the risk, she has pre-charged tools with her own magic. Touka warns Kagome of the dangers, stating the Uwasa could be linked to her ears or even directly to her brain, potentially causing intense pain or unknown consequences. Despite her fear, Kagome resolves to go through with the procedure, wanting to become stronger to help other Magical Girls and repay Iroha for saving her. She successfully merges with the Uwasa, which transforms its appearance.[8]
Separately, throughout the day, Himena brings Alexandra to her hometown, and at a specific location, Himena reveals that this is where her oyfriend, Hiko, died and subsequently entered her mind through her contact with Kyubey. Their secret relationship, due to social standing differences, was discovered, leading to Hiko being bullied into a state of despair that Himena failed to notice until he ended his own life. She aims to create a world with no restrictions on love, where she and Hiko can be together without ridicule.[8]
During this time, the Tokime Clan investigates for the Neo-Magius base in Daito Ward with no success. Shizuka then reveals that two of their members, Sunao and Chika, along with some branch families, are not true defectors, but undercover agents pretending to have joined the Neo-Magius to locate their base. Sunao and Chika make contact, confirming their infiltration and promising to discover the base location by the next day.[8]
Sunao and Chika successfully infiltrate the Neo-Magius gathering at the Kamihama Civic Center, where they identify the location as the base and plan to contact Shizuka. However, they are discovered by San and Miyuri and a battle ensues where Sunao holds off San and Miyuri to allow Chika to escape and send the location to Shizuka. Both Sunao and Chika are defeated and left injured outside the hall.
Upon receiving the message, Shizuka, Chiharu, Asahi, and Ryoko immediately rush to the Civic Center. They battle San, Miyuri, Hagumu, and Shigure at the entrance to break through to the main hall.
At the prison, the Union begins its infiltration. Their strategy relies on Tsuruno, who has memorized a map from Ryo's photos, navigating to the goal while the others fight off enemies. The team is equipped with whistles to communicate and locate each other through the magical interference caused by the enchanted rocks as well. Iroha and Felicia are initially ordered to stay behind to protect the Kimochi Stones, but later they'd decided to disobey and join the battle too. Along the way, they also meet Ikumi, wo insists on joining.[8]
Promised Blood uses enchanted rocks not to fake greater numbers, but to create a "jamming" effect, flooding the tunnels with magical signatures to confuse the Union members and separate them. They are aware of the Union's assault and take up defensive positions.[8]
The Union teams are immediately separated and forced into individual battles. Momoko's team is ambushed from all directions by Hikaru and her army. Yachiyo, Ui, and Sana are targeted by Yuna's "Target Change" sniping magic, which allows her to attack from unexpected angles, as well as Urara.[8]
Tsuruno is intercepted first by Ao and later, after Kanagi arrives and takes her on, Tsuruno is able to continue. However, she is soon intercepted by Juri. Their fight reaches a stalemate that nearly exhausts both of their magic, and Juri, in desperation, attempts to collapse the entire underground section they are in, but ultimately lacks the power to do so.[8]
Ao, traumatized by her accidental killing of Ryo, is confronted by Ikumi. Overwhelmed, Ao's emotional turmoil causes her to lose control of her Kimochi Stone and enter a berserk state, threatening to bring down the entire prison underground. During the fight, Yuna locks Felicia's attack with her own power of Target Redirection, making Felicia cast her Oblivion magic upon herself, which initially only makes her faint. Ao's rampage forces a temporary, uneasy truce between the Union and Promised Blood to stop her and escape the collapsing tunnel. However, Kanagi is able to subdue Ao, but Sakuya protects Ao from further harm.[8]
Both sides are forced to regroup outside the tunnels. Iroha and Felicia's timely intervention saves several Union members from being overwhelmed. Tsuruno deduces from her conversation during the fight with Juri that the Labyrinth connecting Kamihama and Futatsugi likely has multiple entry points beyond the prison. Separately, at Mikazuki Villa, Kagome Satori and the Uwasa of the Wind Evangelist are successfully merged.[8]
Inside the Civic Center, Himena holds a speech for the captive Tokime branch family members, outlining the Neo-Magius' goals. She explains their ideology of "Magical Girl Supremacy" and their concrete plan to seize control of Kamihama's Automatic Purification System.[8]
Shizuka's team breaches the hall. To counter them, Alexandra uses her magic to drain the will to fight from Shizuka, Chiharu, and Asahi. Himena then orders Mitsune to use her Doppel's power to alter the perceptions of the Tokime members, making them believe they have always been part of the Neo-Magius. Shizuka resists by injuring herself to stay conscious, and she then uses a non-magical Tokime technique of the Locked Gaze to project her strong emotions and convictions to the brainwashed clan members. She rallies them by reaffirming the Tokime Clan's core ideal of standing alongside humanity and protecting people, not ruling over them. This speech successfully breaks the Doppel's mind-altering effect on a significant portion of the audience, causing a large-scale rebellion within the hall.[8]
A chaotic battle erupts between the loyal Tokime members and the still-brainwashed faction. Chiharu confronts and defeats Himena in combat, and upon Himena's defeat, the Kimochi Stone she possessed emerges and interacts with her. In a subsequent mental confrontation, Himena resists the Kimochi's attempt to possess her body, reasserting her own will.[8]
With Himena defeated and the Kimochi Stone reclaimed by Charu, the Neo-Magius' plan fails. Shizuka offers Himena a chance to disband the Neo-Magius and join the Tokime Clan, but Himena refuses. As Shizuka, angered by this, moves to attack the defeated Himena, Asahi intervenes and apparently kills Himena with a single blow.[8]
In the aftermath, it is revealed that Himena's death was part of a final contingency plan using Mitsune's Doppel to alter her allies' perceptions, allowing the Neo-Magius to retreat from the public eye. However, the overuse of her power left Mitsune with lower-body paralysis, a condition similar to what Nemu suffers from. The Neo-Magius leadership regroups in hiding to plan their next move.[8]
After being accepted by the Wind Evangelist, Kagome witnessed a clash between the Neo-Magius and the Tokime Clan at the Kamihama Civic Center, and from a distance, saw what she believed was Himena's death. She now understands this was a deception, and curses the fact that this illusion led to the current strained situation among Magical Girls.[8]
Later, at Banbanzai, Iroha, Yachiyo, Tsuruno, Felicia, Sana, and Ui discuss their recent discoveries. They learn from Tsuruno's father about an urban legend of a "Phantom Tunnel," an abandoned subway project near the prison that was halted after the prison's underground was discovered. Separately, after Yuna had used her own unique magic to redirect Felicia's Oblivion magic back to her, Felicia awakens from a nightmare where she saw herself killing her parents.[8]
During a campaign speech for Touka's father, who is running for office, a sudden wave of intense malice is felt by Chiharu and Shizuka. A man in the crowd, seemingly not influenced by any magical entity, throws a stone at the candidate, nearly inciting a riot. This event forces Shizuka to confront the reality that human evil exists independently of magical influence.[8]
Twenty-sixth Day
Mikage feels inadequate and wants to help Mitama, who is busy working as a Coordinator and assisting with a local election. Inspired by a message from her friend Nayuta, who is distraught over her father giving up on saving Magical Girls, Mikage teams up with her friend Sudachi. They resolve to make themselves useful by investigating the mysterious "Endless Mirrors" Labyrinth, though their initial foray is stopped by Lavi.[8]
Nayuta meets with Touka and, despite a letter from her father stating he has given up, Nayuta refuses to believe it, especially after security footage shows him carrying the final volume of his book on Magical Girls. She and Lavi prepare to travel to Yukuni City to follow this lead. Mikage is upset about being left behind but is convinced by Lavi to instead seek permission to help with the Endless Mirrors investigation properly.[8]
Mitama reluctantly allows Mikage and Sudachi to explore the Labyrinth, on the condition they stay in the shallow layers and go together. Inside, they are attacked by a Familiar disguised as Mitama, which Mikage sees through. They are saved by Mifuyu and Alina, who are still mapping the Labyrinth. Despite Mifuyu's reservations, Mikage and Sudachi join them to explore deeper.[8]
The group follows Alina's dream-derived map to the 16th layer, where they discover a hidden terminal room—a nexus point connected to countless Witch Labyrinths, which is the source of the Labyrinth's warping ability and also empowers Witches within it. A powerful Witch manifests, forcing the group to retreat using Alina's Barrier magic. Afterwards, Mitama and Livia reprimand Mikage and Sudachi for their recklessness but acknowledge their desire to help, with Livia offering to properly train Sudachi in Coordination.[8]
Nayuta is determined to find her missing father, believing he is still working to complete his book and save Magical Girls, despite a letter to the contrary. With Lavi, she travels to her family home and confirms the final volume is missing. They decide to travel to Yukuni, where investigation documents place Tasuke at the time of his disappearance. Lavi reveals she is originally from Yukuni, and they postpone their departure briefly due to concerns about Mikage's safety.[8]
Mifuyu and Alina, assisted by the Amane twins, continue to map the Labyrinth. Alina is driven by voices in her dreams, seeking to recover her lost memories, and their progress is documented and reported to Yachiyo.[8]
Yachiyo prepares to visit Kamihama Prison on a separate mission, and Mifuyu expresses regret that she cannot accompany her due to her duties with the Mirrors investigation.[8]
In the background, Mitama is involved in assisting with the election, however Touka's father, a candidate, is assaulted during a speech. Mitama and Mikage witness the event and pursue the assailant into a run-down part of the city, but are advised by the arriving Lavi and Nayuta to break off the chase for their own safety. The incident sparks rumors blaming the assailant on "the East," hinting at rising tensions within Kamihama.[8]
As Nayuta and Lavi finally depart for Yukuni, Mikage gives them a gift of candy. She expresses a fear that something bad is going to happen, specifically worrying about her sister Mitama getting involved. Lavi notes that if something occurs, Mitama will likely take action.[8]
Another Story Chapter 5
Shortly after the confrontation at Kamihama Civic Center, Shizuka is troubled by Himena's accusation that the Tokime Clan's pride is a form of Magical Girl supremacy, akin to the Neo-Magius ideology. She reflects on her belief that all people are inherently good and that the clan's mission is to protect them, not look down on them. She struggles to reconcile this with how others might perceive the clan's pride.
(The next day) Shizuka takes a walk to clear her mind. She witnesses two brothers arguing; the younger one misinterprets the older one's helpful advice as condescension. This interaction makes Shizuka consider that the Tokime Clan's actions might be similarly misunderstood by outsiders. She coincidentally meets Natsuki, and they talk from behind separate trees to avoid being seen together. Shizuka confides her worries, and Natsuki reassures her that Shizuka's actions stem from a love for humanity, not a sense of superiority. Natsuki suggests Shizuka speak with the priest at her temple.
Shizuka returns to Suitoku Temple and discusses her feelings with the chief priest. He introduces her to the Confucian "Theory of Innate Goodness," which posits that all people are born good and that those who do evil have neglected to nurture that inherent goodness. This philosophy strengthens Shizuka's resolve and her belief in the righteousness of her mission to protect people.
(The following day) Shizuka returns to the park to return a cleaned kendama to the brothers, hoping to help them reconcile. She witnesses the older brother from the previous day save a child from being hit by a car, confirming her belief in people's innate goodness. The younger brother reveals he was also looking for the kendama to apologize. Shizuka determines that her pride is not about superiority but about her duty to protect the inherent good in all people, and she vows not to be swayed by Himena's words again.
Later, after the defeat of the Neo-Magius, the Tokime Clan tends to its wounded members, Sunao and Chika. Shizuka also addresses a clan member who defected, reaffirming the clan's true mission to protect humanity, not to stand above it.
Shizuka then speaks with Asahi, who fired the shot that "killed" Himena. Asahi states she made the judgment call to protect Shizuka from having to sully her own hands. Shizuka is conflicted, realizing that in the heat of the moment, she herself had the intent to kill Himena for insulting her ideals. She contrasts this with Iroha's methods, who seeks to avoid violence. Shizuka is left troubled, as Himena's words about the existence of evil and the hollowness of pure altruism continue to haunt her, creating doubt despite her reinforced philosophical beliefs.
Twenty-seventh Day
Livia and Kyubey discuss the current state of Kamihama. Livia confirms that Himena was defeated, and the group has dissolved. However, a rumor she started—that Kamihama Magia Union's eastern and western factions had a secret agreement leading to Ryo's death—continues to spread and cause tension. Kyubey notes this infighting is beneficial as it causes Magical Girls to fight.[9]
At Mikazuki Villa, Felicia shows signs of emotional distress, haunted by a dream where she killed her own parents, and the team attempts to cheer her up.[9]
At her cafe, Ikumi struggles with her work, burdened by Ryo's death. Kanagi and Mitama discuss the political fallout from a recent mayoral election assault, while Mikage mentions the damaging rumor about the Union is spreading in the east.[9]
The Union holds a strategy meeting at Ryushinkan. To counter the rumor and distrust, they plan a joint operation with eastern and western members. The goal is for members not chosen by the Kimochi to destroy the Mirrors Witch and sever Promised Blood's shortcut from Futatsugi.[9]
Rena meets Ranka at the game center to receive the information, but the meeting is interrupted by Juri, who violently retrieves Ranka. The Union plans to attack via two routes: the old trainyard and a route through Kosho Ward's Electric Town, based on information from Ranka. Union confirms the location of the base but remains suspicious of a trap.[9]
That evening, Yuna goes to get Coordinated in the Puella Care trailer. She notifies Livia that after she redirected Felicia's magic back at her, its started to make her remember something she'd used her magic to erase. Yuna now plans to use this to sow discord within the Union's ranks.[9]
At night, during the operation, the teams assemble and Kanagi leads the eastern team to the old trainyard, while Yachiyo leads the western team to the Electric Town route.[9]
The operation fails and the Electric Town route is blocked by a magically reinforced excavation shield used for tunnels, trapping Yachiyo's team. Promised Blood's main force, including Ranka, also ambushes Kanagi's team at the trainyard. The eastern members who cannot fight are cornered, and Kanagi is severely injured while protecting them. Yachiyo's team breaks through to rescue them, forcing a full retreat.[9]
After the battle, at Mitama's office, the injured Kanagi warns the others that the Kimochi can overwhelm their users, as happened with Ao. Rena also feels sad due to Ranka's betrayal and the failed operation and heavy injuries deepen the existing distrust between the eastern and western factions. Yuna analyzes the battle, recognizing Union's attempt to operate outside the Kimochi's rules solely to defeat their local Mirrors Witch. Ao is left emotionally distraught after her Kimochi stone is taken in the fight.[9]
Twenty-eighth Day
Mikage hears news reports about the ongoing investigation into the mayoral election assault, which implicates Mitama and Kanagi. At Mikazuki Villa's laboratory, Touka analyzes a black photograph from Ryo's phone, finding a clue. At Kanagi's home, Iroha treats her injuries and they discuss the burdens of leadership, with Kanagi advising Iroha to hold onto her idealism.[9]
Felicia meets Kako and Ayame in a park, and Ayame, concerned about Felicia's distress over her dream of killing her parents, suggests they visit Suitoku Temple to find ghosts. At the temple, which serves as the Tokime clan's base, they learn that clan members Sunao and Chika are recovering from their injuries. The "ghosts" of the people in the temple are a manifestation of Asahi's unique magic, used to monitor the Magical Girls' proximity to death.[9]
As she's going home from the temple, Felicia encounters Yuna by chance, who says she was on the way to Suitoku Temple. Felicia stops and asks her what she did to her in Kamihama Prison. Yuna reveals that, after she'd seen Felicia use her magic, she realized Felicia's magic may have originated from her contract making her forget something. Yuna merely redirected the magic back at Felicia, making her start to remember what happened. Yuna then transforms and makes Felicia remember everything.[9]
Mifuyu's investigation team continues to search the Endless Mirrors, but progress is stalled as Alina remains asleep and unable to map deeper floors. Karin creates a manga, "The Alina Gray Reform Project," hoping to inspire Alina to change. Inspired by this, Mifuyu proposes a plan to destroy the Mirrors terminal, severing all shortcuts at once. She gains the Tokime clan's approval for this plan.[9]
Later that day, Iroha and Kanagi discover that the route from Kamihama Prison to the subway is not blocked, as Ranka had claimed. Tsuruno also finds out about a ventilation shaft that leads to the subway and Yachiyo's team formulates a new three-pronged invasion plan using these routes.[9]
At a game center, Rena, Kaede, and Momoko have a tense encounter with Ranka and Juri. Rena is emotionally devastated by Ranka's betrayal, and Felicia, who is also present, becomes enraged and destroys a punching machine, later breaking down in tears.[9]
That evening, the Union holds a final strategy meeting at Ryushinkan. They finalize the plan to attack the subway at 5:30 AM the next day, simultaneously with Mifuyu's operation to destroy the Mirrors terminal. Yachiyo states that any member, including Felicia, will be subject to a final evaluation before the operation begins.[9]
In the subway, Yuna and Promised Blood continue to search for the offshoot Mirrors Witch, counting on the internal strife within Union to buy them time. At Puella Care, Livia expresses concern for Felicia, and at Mikazuki Villa, Felicia cries alone, believing she does not deserve to be with her friends.[9]
That night, Felicia confronts Kako through a text message, having deduced that she knew the truth about her wish, and how Felicia was the one who killed her own parents.[9]
Felicia runs away and Iroha, Yachiyo, Tsuruno, Ui, and Sana pursue her. Kako and Ayame also join the search after learning of Felicia's distress.[9]
Felicia escapes their pursuit by unleashing her Doppel and returns to her burned-out family apartment in Minaminagi. She relives the traumatic memory of the accident: during an argument with her mother, she kicked her, causing a pot of oil to spill and start a fire. In a panic, Felicia threw water on the oil fire, which worsened the blaze. In that moment of despair, Kyubey appeared, and Felicia wished for the incident to have never happened. Her unique magic of oblivion was a direct result of this wish, causing her to forget her own role in the tragedy, as the wording of her wish was changed due to her emotional state.[9]
The team finds Felicia on the 15th floor. Her Kimochi bracelet reacts violently, and the Kimochi itself attempts to seize control of her body by amplifying her self-hatred. Iroha uses her own Kimochi bracelet to connect everyone's hearts to Felicia's.[9]
Despite their pleas, Felicia remains consumed by guilt and is willing to let the Kimochi take her. Kako and Ayame then arrive with Asahi, who, using her unique magic, summons the spirits of Felicia's parents. They absolve Felicia of blame, explaining the accident was a result of family tensions and their own failures as parents. They tell her to live happily and bless others.[9]
Freed from her guilt by her parents' forgiveness, Felicia rejects the Kimochi and reclaims control of her body and her future. She resolves to live on and make others happy. The immediate crisis ends, but Asahi reflects cynically on the value of a Magical Girl's life.[9]
Twenty-ninth Day
During the operation, 5:30 AM, the Union launches its three-pronged attack on the subway to destroy Promised Blood's offshoot Mirrors Witch. Iroha's team from Mikazuki Villa is absent, having been delayed by Felicia's emotional crisis, but Momoko's and Kanagi's teams proceed with the mission.[9]
Kanagi's team enters via Kamihama Prison but they're immediately ambushed. Kanagi stays behind to duel Ao while Momoko's team advances. Meanwhile, Mifuyu's team enters through the Endless Mirrors to destroy the parent terminal. Alina negotiates with the voice inside her, saying that if they don't help, Alina will give up and live as a new person. The voice temporarily takes over her body and allows Alina to open a sudden shortcut, accelerating their descent.[9]
During the operation in the offshoot Mirrors, Momoko's team engages Juri and Ranka in battle. Miyako and Ikumi are incapacitated by Sakuya, while Kanagi, fighting Ao, is ambushed by Yuna and Hikaru. Severely wounded and cornered, Kanagi is on the verge of being killed when Iroha's team finally arrives.[9]
Mifuyu's team arrives in the offshoot Mirrors through a linked mirror, but they aren't strong enough to fight the Witch directly with Promised Blood going against them. Juri also uses her Kimochi to send her opponents into its Labyrinth, picking them off one by one, though Alina's immune to its effects. Ikumi, in a final act of despair, makes a pact with her Kimochi Stone, apologizing that she won't be the one to take it to the Automatic Purification System. She uses its power to destroy the offshoot Mirrors Witch, but in doing so, her body is completely consumed, and she vanishes.[9]
With the Witch defeated and the shortcut severed, the battle ends, but Promised Blood now has gained Ikumi's Kimochi Stone as well. The four Kimochi Stones held by Promised Blood resonate with those held by the Union. Through this connection, Ui and the others perceive all the Kimochi's true intention: to gather all eight stones, return to their original form as the Witch Eve, and use the Magical Girls' conflict to create openings to possess them. Despite this revelation, Yuna remains confident that she can control the Kimochi and the Automatic Purification System, and Promised Blood retreats with their victory.[9]
In the aftermath, at Mitama's office, the injured Kanagi works to prevent the eastern Magical Girls from blaming the west for her injuries. At Ikumi's cafe, a memorial is held for her final performance. The Union mourns their losses, having learned they are being manipulated by the very power they sought to control, yet the conflict with Promised Blood continues.[9]
In Kamihama, the mayoral election concludes, and as the ballots will b called the following day, the political atmosphere remains tense. At Mitama's shop, she, Mikage, and Kagome watch a news report alleging election law violations involving minors, which they recognize refers to Mitama's own assistance with the eastern candidate's campaign. Mitama reveals she participated hoping to improve the east's reputation and, by extension, her own view of Kamihama. The report causes her significant distress.[9]
Episode 5
In Yukuni, Nayuta continues her search for her father with Lavi and Alexandra. They find a lead at a local folklore museum, where an assistant professor directs them to an inn called "The Cradle of the Earth." Nayuta contacts the inn and learns her father, Tasuke, has a reservation for the following day. However, he cancels and instead sends Nayuta a letter, arranging to meet her after he speaks with his brother, Touka's father.[9]
The following day, Nayuta, Lavi, and Alexandra check into The Cradle of the Earth. Tasuke's cancelled his reservation, but sends another message confirming his intent to meet after speaking with his brother. Suspicious, Nayuta goes to her uncle's office and overhears a phone conversation where he mentions confining Tasuke to "cool his head" and discusses bringing his brother's Magical Girl research to the public from a "scientific point of view." Lavi, seizing the opportunity to sever Nayuta's ties with her cousin Touka, manipulates Nayuta into believing her uncle plans to steal her father's work for fame. This successfully turns Nayuta against her uncle and, by extension, Touka.[9]
Concurrently in Kamihama, Mitama, Mikage, and Kagome, joined by members of the Tokime clan, investigate the election. Using a listening device, they overhear a conversation between the newly elected mayor and Touka's father. They learn the stone-throwing incident was a plot by western factions to frame the east and maintain negative stereotypes. This revelation devastates Mitama, causing her to nearly relapse into the despair that originally led to her Magical Girl wish. She is calmed by Kanagi and Momoko, but the event deepens the political schism.[9]
At her shop, Iroha, hearing of Mitama's breakdown, has a personal revelation. She openly declares her resolve to "create a world where everyone can live" and save all Magical Girls, including those in Promised Blood, by ending the conflict without taking lives, focusing on their shared desire for salvation.[9]
In a separate meeting, Lavi's group, Folklore of Zero, discuss these events. They have successfully isolated Nayuta and note Iroha's pacifist "Mohist" ideology. Lavi expresses doubt that Iroha's approach can succeed alone against the impending "Awakening," a central tenet of their own beliefs.[9]
Another Story Chapter 6
Sana experiences a creative block, unable to continue drawing her picture books. A haunting dream of her brothers, who dismiss fiction as an escape from reality, causes her to doubt the value and power of her art. She concludes that her work is meaningless and that she must take practical action in the real world to be of use.
Seeking a tangible purpose, Sana accompanies Kagome on her mission to document Magical Girls across Kamihama, acting as her bodyguard. During their travels, they observe several interactions: Felicia happily reconciling with Kako and Ayame after they helped her speak with her parents' spirits; the somber atmosphere at Ikumi's cafe as staff and patrons grieve her sudden death; and Kanagi preparing a memorial event for Ikumi, stating she wants to "mourn to remember, not to forget." Finally, they assist a search party in the Mirrors Labyrinth looking for the missing Alina and Karin.
During the search, Sana uses her unique magic of to distract a powerful Witch, allowing the other Magical Girls to defeat it. Despite this success, Sana feels her efforts are ultimately futile as the primary goal of finding Alina and Karin is not achieved.
Later that day, feeling dejected, Sana calls Sunao. Their conversation about a childhood animated film reveals to Sana that her courageous act in the Labyrinth was subconsciously inspired by that very fiction. This realization, combined with the earnest efforts she witnessed in everyone that day, helps her understand that stories are not an escape from reality but a source of inspiration for those living within it.
Reinvigorated, Sana speaks with Nemu, who also confirms the power of creativity. Nemu suggests that Sana publish her illustrations as an e-book through Touka's social media efforts to help spread awareness of Magical Girls. Sana agrees, resolving to continue her art with renewed faith in its purpose.
Thirtieth Day
Yuna, Juri, Hikaru, and Ao hold a council. Futatsugi is trapped, with no Witches to hunt, no funds to commute, and their connection to Kamihama severed. Yuna admits her miscalculation led to this and vows to fight on, abandoning the peaceful ideals of her respected senior. Juri recalls that Alina Gray was able to fight without being chosen by a Kimochi because she lacked interest in the Stones themselves. The group deduces that the Kimochi's Labyrinth rule only activates if a Magical Girl's objective is to acquire a Kimochi Stone or the Automatic Purification System. If they attack with pure killing intent, the rule does not apply.[10]
Yuna proposes making Futatsugi City the final battlefield. This eliminates their financial and logistical problems and allows them to deploy Magical Girls from the city who are unaware of the Kimochi Stones and thus immune to the Labyrinth rule. Ao reveals she has already informed allies from the Janomiya group, who are now on standby in Futatsugi. Yuna confirms these girls will serve as their vanguard to break the Union. Juri separates from the group to settle her own promises, tracking down and briefly fighting Shigure and Hagumu. After defeating them, Juri takes them to a family restaurant, explaining she is fulfilling her promises for good luck in the coming battle, which she reveals will be Promised Blood's last stand. She warns them that, despite Neo-Magius' fall, they should be careful around their new friends as the nicer someone is, the more dangerous they can be.[10]
The Union and their allies gather at Mikazuki Villa for safety. Yachiyo explains that Mifuyu, Tsukuyo, and Tsukasa are still searching Mirrors for the missing Karin and Alina and are not present. The group discusses the grim reality that they, like Promised Blood, cannot hide indefinitely due to school and family obligations. Separately, Touka and Nemu struggle with their project to reveal the truth of Magical Girls to the world, finding their online efforts inexplicably ineffective, however Sana successfully publishes an e-book of her picture book and sends it to Sunao.[10]
Thirty-first Day
Within the Tokime Clan, Shizuka reflects deeply on her purpose. She is haunted by the words of San, who argued that controlling people from above is sometimes necessary to strip away the "evil at the root" of society. She begins to question whether simply protecting people is enough, or if a more fundamental change to the world is required, a task only the Tokime Diviners could undertake.[10]
Sakuya confronts Iroha and Tsuruno at school, delivering an ultimatum from Promised Blood that the final battle will be in Futatsugi City. She threatens that if the Union does not come, they will destroy their four Kimochi Stones the next night. Iroha knows this is a bluff, as the Kimochi would resist or abandon them, but acknowledges the risk of the Stones being destroyed or reverted outside of Kamihama's protection is too great. The Union and Tokime Clan hold a strategy meeting, where they acknowledge the immense disadvantage of fighting on Promised Blood's home turf but conclude they have no choice. Shizuku, motivated by a desire to stop the cycle of hope being destroyed and to atone for her inability to save Ryo and Ikumi, contacts Iroha and begs to be of use. She does not seek revenge, but wants to help end the conflict.[10]
Thirty-second Day
A plan is formed around Shizuku's unique magic which allows for teleportation. This provides the "one-shot reversal" Yachiyo had sought. The final roster for the Futatsugi operation is set: the members of Mikazuki Villa and Momoko's team, plus the Tokime Clan. Kanagi and Hinano will remain in Kamihama to protect the city and the vulnerable former Magius members. Meanwhile, Livia, Yozuru, and Sudachi formally inform Kagome that they will be protecting her personally when she goes to observe the final battle, fearing she could be caught in the crossfire.[10]
That night of the deployment Yachiyo confirms the plan: Team Mikazuki, Momoko's team, and the Tokime Clan will travel to Futatsugi City via Shizuku's magic. Shizuku awaits their signal and in Futatsugi, Yuna solemnly recites the names of her fallen comrades, vowing to reclaim the blood they shed.[10]
The Union and Tokime Clan move to confront Promised Blood in Futatsugi, while Kagome travels to the city under the protection of Yozuru, Sudachi, and Livia to document the event. She observes that Yuna chose this battlefield not only for its strategic value but to settle her grudge in the presence of her fallen comrades.[10]
Before the battle, the members of Promised Blood reflect on their motivations, and Yuna vows to avenge the dead Magical Girls of Futatsugi and acquire all Kimochi Stones. Her subordinates, including Sakuya, Ranka, Hikaru, Ao, and Juri, each grapple with their own reasons for fighting, from a desire for vengeance to a twisted longing for peace through dominance.[10]
The battle begins with a coordinated signal from Promised Blood. The Union and Tokime Clan's initial plan to capture Yuna fails when she reveals a backup force. Yuna exploits a loophole in the Kimochi's rules, deploying Magical Girls from Futatsugi who have no intent to acquire a Stone, allowing them to fight without being sent to a Labyrinth. This tactic gives Promised Blood a significant numerical advantage.[10]
Yuna's strategy involves dividing the enemy forces using Futatsugi's terrain, hunting them down individually, and then herding them toward a central location for a final annihilation. The Union and Tokime Clan members find themselves isolated and pursued across the city.[10]
Shizuka and Yuna clash over their opposing philosophies of leadership and sacrifice. Sakuya and Ryoko, formerly friends, fight with the understanding that one must kill the other. Juri battles Tsuruno, expressing that conflict is her fundamental nature. Ranka confronts Rena, her conflicted feelings about their past friendship causing her to ultimately let Rena escape. Ao, heavily influenced by her Kimochi, fights Yachiyo with a new, violent philosophy of achieving peace through preemptive domination. Iroha encounters Hikaru and reaffirms her resolve to end the conflict and save everyone.[10]
Despite their efforts, the scattered members of the Union and Tokime Clan are systematically maneuvered into a single location. Yuna and the full force of Promised Blood surround them, declaring the battle won and preparing for the final assault.[10]
While the battle rages in Futatsugi, Kanagi coordinates defense efforts in Kamihama. She ensures the evacuation of vulnerable Magical Girls, focusing on Touka and Nemu. Kanagi stations herself at Mikazuki to protect them, while Mitama remains at her shop.[10]
Touka and Nemu, accompanied by Sakurako and later Kanagi, conduct research at the Chuo Ward library. They investigate historical records and city statistics, uncovering a pattern: incidents involving Magical Girls consistently fail to become public knowledge, a phenomenon they term a "Fantasy." They also research the legend of Tsuyu Mizuna and Chizuru, historical "Battle-Shamanesses" who were likely Magical Girls.[10]
Touka visits her father in the Medical Center. He reveals he now believes in Magical Girls and, alongside her missing uncle Tasuke, plans to protect them from public exploitation when their existence is inevitably revealed.[10]
Hinano, after a period of withdrawal, resolves to contribute. She and Mifuyu guard Shizuku, whose portal magic is critical to the Union's operation in Futatsugi. Members of Promised Blood attack Shizuku's Kamihama residence, but Mifuyu and Hinano repel them.[10]
Simultaneously, the Amane sisters, Tsukuyo and Tsukasa, face a separate crisis. Their families, on opposing sides of Kamihama's East-West political feud, discover the twins have been secretly meeting. Both are placed under house arrest, severing their contact.[10]
As the battle in Futatsugi intensifies, Shizuku prepares to execute her role, ready to teleport the besieged Union and Tokime Clan forces on their signal.[10]
During the final battle in Futatsugi, Yuna orders Promised Blood to execute the wounded Union and Tokime Clan members. As Promised Blood prepares to deliver the final blow, Shizuku has teleported the besieged forces to safety behind enemy lines. Yuna realizes her plan to assassinate Shizuku in Kamihama failed.[10]
The Union and Tokime Clan counterattack. Yuna, cornered and desperate, absorbs the Kimochi Stones from Juri, Hikaru, and Ao, despite the known risk of being controlled. The power of four Stones overwhelms her, and the Kimochi begin to erode her mind and body, transforming her into a tyrannical form.[10]
Kagome, witnessing the battle, defies her protectors and rushes to the front lines, where Yuna's uncontrolled attack gravely injures her. Iroha resolves to save Yuna alone and follows her into the catacombs beneath Futatsugi.[10]
Inside the catacombs, Iroha connects with Yuna's consciousness through her own Kimochi Stone. She sees her mind being consumed by the Kimochi and she witnesses Yuna's traumatic past: the constant warfare in Futatsugi, the death of her mentor, her hatred for Kamihama's Magius, and her deep-seated guilt and grief. Yuna, in turn, sees Iroha's memories of her forgotten sister Ui and her unwavering resolve to save everyone.[10]
Iroha communicates directly with the Kimochi, assuring them she means no harm and will take them to the Automatic Purification System. The Kimochi release their hold on Yuna, and through this shared experience, Yuna finally understands Iroha's genuine nature. She chooses to trust Iroha personally, though she maintains her resentment toward Kamihama as a whole.[10]
Immediately after the battle, Yuna officially disbands Promised Blood and ends the vendetta against Kamihama. She explains to her followers that uniting all eight Kimochi Stones may be the key to their liberation and agrees to a temporary alliance with the Union and Tokime Clan. Yuna gives her Kimochi Stone to Iroha as a token of trust and asks her to give it to Kanagi as atonement.[10]
Thirty-third Day
In the morning, the Union and Tokime Clan members part ways with Promised Blood and return to Kamihama. Mitama uses her Coordination to heal the severely wounded, including Momoko, Rena, Kaede, Ryoko, and Asahi.[10]
In the aftermath, Shizuku explains that her portal magic has weakened after she found her personal resolution, no longer needing to search for a place to belong. She can now only utilize it within Kamihama Ciy. The Tokime Clan discovers that Asahi's body is covered in older, severe scars, prompting an investigation into her origins.[10]
In Futatsugi, Yuna mourns Sakuya alone. She reaffirms her duty to protect her remaining followers, particularly Ao, whose emotions are being suppressed by her Kimochi. Urara, revealed to have been an undercover investigator, is given permission to stay in Futatsugi.[10]
After the battle in Futatsugi, Kagome awakens in a hospital, having survived her critical injuries. She learns the conflict between the factions has ended, but new developments are dividing the Magical Girls.[10]
Lavi, Alexandra, Asahi, and Urara discuss the consequences of the Futatsugi battle. Lavi confirms that the conflict advanced her clock's hands toward the "Awakening," and that the Neo-Magius faction, now empowered, will accelerate this process. She identifies key individuals whose deaths would signify the point of no return, those being Touka, Nemu, Nayuta and Kagome. Lavi instructs Alexandra to withdraw from the Neo-Magius when they begin their major operations.[10]
Nayuta grapples with Lavi's claims that her uncle imprisoned her father and that her cousin Touka is complicit. Lavi serves lasagna and encourages Nayuta to verify the facts for herself. Nayuta, afraid of confronting Touka directly, decides to first confront her uncle.[10]
Thirty-fourth Day
Nayuta visits her uncle at the Medical Center. He denies imprisoning Tasuke, claiming he is merely hospitalized for tests due to concerning health results from his travels. He refuses to let Nayuta see her father, stating it would only upset her, and has her escorted out. Lavi, who had secretly imbued a pen with her magic to track the professor, uses it to locate Tasuke. She finds him in Touka's old hospital room, which was designed to be locked from the outside. Lavi frees him and enlists his help in her plan to drive a wedge between Nayuta and Touka.[10]
Nayuta, frustrated by her uncle's lies, reluctantly agrees to let Mikage act as an intermediary to confront Touka. In exchange, Nayuta must buy Mikage a treat. Lavi, seeing this as the perfect moment to act, coordinates with the freed Professor Tasuke.[10]
Nayuta and Mikage meet with Touka. Through Mikage, Nayuta asks if Touka knew her father was captive. Touka is genuinely shocked and denies any knowledge, insisting her father wants to help Magical Girls. She calls her father, who admits he lied to her as well. He claims Tasuke has given up on his theory to save Magical Girls, a truth he cannot bear to tell Nayuta. Touka, shaken, lies to Nayuta and Mikage, reiterating that her father and uncle are merely working together.[10]
Later, Lavi sends a message to Nayuta, who relays the information that Touka's old room is the most likely imprisonment location. Lavi, having already freed Tasuke, uses this message as a signal to proceed and "put on a show."[10]
Tasuke contacts Nayuta and arranges to meet at a coffee shop. Meanwhile, Touka's father discovers Tasuke has escaped and orders Touka to find him using a GPS tracker he planted on him, stressing the importance of a meeting with a politician scheduled for that evening.[10]
At the coffee shop, Nayuta is tearfully reunited with her father. As he begins to explain his realization, Touka arrives, sent by her father to retrieve Tasuke. A tense argument erupts and Nayuta accuses Touka of lying about the imprisonment, while Touka pleads with Nayuta to trust her and let Tasuke fulfill his important meeting. Tasuke decides to return with Touka, explaining he found documents in her room that proved her father believes him, and he hopes his brother will understand the difficult conclusion he has reached. Nayuta is heartbroken as her father leaves with Touka. She coldly dismisses Mikage and tells Touka she can no longer trust her. Before parting, Nayuta mentions that during a trip to Yukuni, she found ordinary citizens who knew of Magical Girls and viewed them as dangerous. This information troubles Touka, who wonders if her uncle is foreseeing a destruction.[10]
That night, Himena and San visit the Mitsune in the Medical Center, informing her that their plans to reveal Magical Girls to the world are progressing. They have begun a "countdown." Later, Himena attempts to recruit Lil' Kyubey as it was trying to converse with the real Kyubey, but it flees. Kyubey notes ongoing changes within Kamihama, and though she doesn't reveal it to Kyubey, she's sent her teammates to recruit other faction members. San is meeting with Shizuka, Shigure and Hagumu are meeting with Ao, and Miyuri is meeting Kanagi.[10]
Tasuke meets with the mayor and Touka's father. In a stunning reversal, Tasuke publicly denounces his life's work, declaring that Magical Girls are nothing but a delusion and an urban legend, and that they do not exist. His brother is left in stunned silence, asking what Tasuke intends to do about Nayuta and Touka now.[10]
Another Story Chapter 7
In Takarazaki City, Himena struggles to master her unique magic, Synthesis, which allows her to transfer abilities between people. She wants to extend this power to objects but fails repeatedly. San initiates a rigorous training regimen with the goals to stabilize Himena's magic usage in combat and to help her form a concrete mental image of the synthesis process.
San's training involves continuous Witch hunts. During this time Shigure and Hagumu report an "uncomfortable feeling" when Himena uses her magic on them. San takes note of this.
The following day, San begins the second phase of training: synthesizing magic into objects. She enlists Alexandra's help, as her "demotivation" magic provides a clear test for success. Despite numerous attempts with a broom, Himena fails to transfer any magic into it.
To break the routine, San tasks Himena with helping to prepare for a community festival at the center. While cleaning a warehouse, Himena encounters Nanaka, Meiyui, Akira, and Kako, who have evacuated to Takarazaki from Kamihama. They immediately recognize Himena as the supposedly deceased leader of the Neo-Magius.
A fight ensues, where Meiyui uses her unique magic, "falsification of the truth," to make Himena forget their encounter. However, San arrives and deduces Meiyui's power. The spell breaks when Himena becomes aware of the manipulation through San's telepathy.
Outnumbered and cornered, Himena recalls San's lesson about achieving potential under extreme conditions. In a desperate gamble, she successfully synthesizes Meiyui's "falsification" magic into the broom she had been using for days. She uses the enchanted broom on the Kamihama girls, making them forget the entire incident. The Kamihama girls, sensing something is wrong but unable to recall what, decide to leave Takarazaki.
After the confrontation, Himena and San deduce the final condition for her magic that she can only synthesize magic into an object that has been pre-infused with her own magical energy. The broom met this condition subconsciously through repeated use. Himena successfully replicates the feat with another object, finally mastering her power. She declares the Neo-Magius is ready to advance to the next stage of their plan for Magical Girl supremacy.
As the Kamihama girls depart, Nanaka senses a hostile presence, realizing the Magical Girl she detected earlier is now a recognized enemy, though the memory of the fight remains erased.
Thirty-fifth Day
Prologue
During Kagome's hospitalization, Urara visits and announces her departure from Promised Blood, stating her true allegiance was to the group Folklore of Zero. She explains that her actions to protect others would not alter the future her group foresaw, which was dependent on whether the existence of Magical Girls became public knowledge. Livia arrives and offers for Puella Care to assist Kagome with her chronicling duties as an apology for her injury, which Kagome gratefully accepts.[11]
Around the same time, at Mikazuki Villa, Lil' Kyubey attempts to communicate an urgent but unclear warning to Iroha and the others. Through a series of questions, Yachiyo deduces the warning was related to the Automatic Purification System, but the specific details of the threat remain unclear.[11]
Thirty-sixth Day
Sudachi observes the Kamihama Magia Union. They're in a state of uncertainty due to a proposed alliance with Promised Blood, and a deeper issue of distrust between the Magical Girls of Kamihama's east and west districts. This division was exacerbated by a strategy employed by Yuna during the recent conflict.[11]
Magical Girls from the east, including Mito, Seika, and Reira, express their apprehension about the alliance and their distrust of the west, citing incidents of violence and social ostracization. Kanagi and Mitama acknowledge the problem and seek to understand the eastern members' feelings.[11]
The Union holds a meeting where the internal discord becomes clear. Eastern and western members, as well as those from the south, voice strong opposition to the alliance with Promised Blood. Iroha and Yachiyo recognize that mending the east-west rift is a prerequisite for any successful alliance. Iroha attempts to contact Yuna Kureha to provide an explanation to the Union, but Yuna delays her response due to similar internal turmoil within Futatsugi.[11]
In Touka's lab, Iroha asks what the two have been up to. Nemu reports that Sana's picture books have been selling well, but Touka's attempts to reveal information about magic in the internet have failed to gain any traction.[11]
Yachiyo, Mifuyu, Mikage, and Sudachi visit an elderly shopkeeper in the west. The shopkeeper shares a local legend about the historical figures Tsuyu Mizuna and Chizuru, who led a rebellion but later parted ways, causing the people to split into the eastern and western factions. This legend is presented as a possible ancient origin of the city's divide. During this visit, a child from the west who previously assaulted Mikage apologizes, and Mikage forgives him, demonstrating a potential for reconciliation.[11]
Iroha, Yachiyo, and others investigate the archives of the Ryushin Dojo, searching for historical documents on Tsuyu and Chizuru. They find only a single document that confirms the historical conflict but provides no reason for the schism.[11]
Around this time, Karin returns from being missing within the Endless Mirrors to Kanagi's workplace. Kanagi tells them of everyone's location and Karin rushes to go to the dojo herself. There, she reveals that the Witch of the Endless Mirrors was a Magical Girl named Mikoto Sena, who possessed Alina. Alina, now with her memories restored, remains missing within the Mirrors.[11]
Thirty-seventh Day
The Union holds a full assembly and Yachiyo addresses the group, advocating for reconciliation between east and west to ensure their collective survival. She uses the example of Mikage's forgiveness as a model for moving forward.[11]
Yuna arrives and deliberately provokes the assembly by openly stating her enduring hatred for Kamihama and detailing her past strategies to divide them. This inflammatory speech causes an uproar and nearly sparks a battle, which Yachiyo and Mifuyu manage to subdue. Yuna then clarifies that her actions were a calculated performance to unite the Union against a common enemy—herself—thus bypassing their internal suspicions. She formally declares that Promised Blood will ally only with Iroha personally, not the entire Union, and reveals she has already given her Kimochi Stone to Kanagi as an apology.[11]
This resolution, though unorthodox, is accepted and allows the cooperative framework to proceed. In the meantime, Ranka also meets up with Momoko's team in the arcade and makes amends. She reveals she intends to show Yuna the places Sakuya frequented soon. In the aftermath, Iroha and Ui begin preparations to move out of their secret bunker and back to Mikazuki Villa.[11]
Following Yuna’s decision to ally with the Kamihama Magia Union, the members of Ryuugasaki, led by Juri, strongly oppose the alliance. Juri, bored and lacking motivation without a fight, decides to reignite conflict by proposing a civil war between Ryuugasaki and Yuna’s faction, Torayamachi.[11]
Thirty-eighth Day
Yuna, attempting to manage her student council duties, learns of the skirmish. She recognizes the deep divisions within Futatsugi and her own role in fostering them. When Iroha contacts her for an explanation to give the Union, Yuna delays her response, prioritizing the internal crisis.[11]
Yuna calls a meeting with the leaders of Futatsugi’s districts—Juri of Ryuugasaki and Ao Kasane of Janomiya. The meeting fails to reach a consensus, with Ryuugasaki members vehemently against trusting Kamihama. Juri proposes a representative match: if she wins, the war continues; if Yuna wins, it ends. Yuna reluctantly agrees to the fight in a desperate attempt to unify the city.[11]
As the sisters prepare to battle the following day, Ao plots to kill them both in their weakened state to seize power for herself. In the arcade, Ranka overhears Ao’s plan and is alarmed by her increasingly extreme and dangerous mindset.[11]
Thirty-ninth Day
At the catacombs, the fight between Yuna and Juri escalates. Yuna pleads her case to the onlookers, explaining that she still holds a grudge against Kamihama but trusts Iroha’s goal to save all Magical Girls. Just as Ao moves to attack the exhausted sisters, Iroha arrives unexpectedly at the Futatsugi catacombs.[11]
Iroha explains she came to pay her respects to the Magical Girls who died in the Bloody Tragedy. She formally apologizes for the Magius’ actions and asks for forgiveness, promising to carry the souls of Futatsugi’s lost girls with her into a future where all Magical Girls can be saved. Her sincere words move the members of Promised Blood and effectively resolve the immediate conflict.[11]
After Iroha departs, Ranka informs Yuna and Juri of Ao’s murderous intent. They confront Ao, who admits she would betray them if she felt they could no longer protect her. The group decides to monitor Ao closely.[11]
Fortieth Day
After school, Yuna cannot locate Juri and fears she has gone to attack Janomiya. She eventually finds Juri at their old base, about to shatter her own Soul Gem. Juri reveals she believes her violent nature is a threat to the new, peaceful era and that Futatsugi would be better off without her. Yuna convinces her to live by giving her a new purpose: to help save Ao.[11]
Yuna and Juri visit the graves of Ryo and Ikumi, where Hinano is also present. She states she does not mourn them but thanks them, as their deaths proved the Union also suffered loss, which helped convince her faction to ally. Hinano takes offense at this, and Yuna promises the Union her support, though she clarifies she cannot fully bear the weight of their deaths. Yuna makes Juri promise not to die until they save Ao.[11]
Forty-first Day
At Suitoku Temple, Shizuka announces the clan’s decision to ally with the Kamihama Magia Union and Promised Blood. She resolves not to force the Tokime Clan's philosophy onto others, despite her personal disagreement with Yuna's methods. The injured members, Ryoko and Asahi, are in recovery. Shizuka, Sunao, and Chiharu decide to travel to the Tokime Village to research Asahi's branch family and investigate the origin of her scars.[11]
At the temple, Ryoko grapples with the guilt of killing Sakuya. A conversation with Asahi about the dignity of life gives Ryoko a new purpose: to honor Sakuya's memory and guide her soul to Nirvana by living a life without regret. Meanwhile, Asahi reveals to Chika that her scars are "lessons" that "predators cannot be saved," but avoids further explanation. Chika senses a deep loneliness in her.[11]
Shizuka, Sunao, and Chiharu return to the Tokime Village, where Shizuka collapses from exhaustion and stress, overwhelmed by the evils she witnessed outside the village. Her mother warns that her new ambition to actively lead people onto a path of righteousness, rather than support them from the shadows, will inevitably lead to more conflict. The group learns that Asahi's family, the Miura line, originated from a branch family in a village now incorporated into Yukuni.[11]
Forty-second Day
The trio travels to Yukuni City. They discover the local population is aware of Magical Girls and Witches. A gang of students confronts them, accusing Magical Girls of attracting Witches and being evil creatures destined to become monsters themselves. They reveal they are responsible for Asahi's scars and threaten the trio with violence. Shizuka nearly attacks them in a rage over the torture of Asahi, but Sunao and Chiharu restrain her.[11]
Back at Suitoku Temple, Asahi confesses the truth to the others. In Yukuni, public knowledge of the Magical Girl System has bred widespread fear and hostility. Magical Girls are hunted and tormented, reducing their numbers to only four. Asahi then reveals her true allegiance is to Folklore of Zero, an observation group consisting of the four remaining Magical Girls from Yukuni.[11]
Despite this revelation, Shizuka does not cast Asahi out, trusting her deeply and considering her family. Asahi nevertheless chooses to leave the Tokime Clan to avoid causing internal discord. Before departing, she tells Shizuka that the Tokime Clan's pure pride gave her hope, but she now fears Shizuka is on the verge of being "engulfed by the world's evils." This conversation solidifies Shizuka's resolve that she must teach people righteousness and actively fight against evil.[11]
Forty-third Day
Lavi and Alexandra discuss the current situation. The Kamihama Magia Union has acquired all eight Kimochi Stones, and the Automatic Purification System is poised for activation. Alexandra resolves to confront Himena Aika of the Neo-Magius to convince her to stop fighting, believing hope from the Tokime Clan could change her mind. Livia arrives, acting as a substitute chronicler for the injured Kagome.[11]
Livia recounts an argument between Tasuke and his brother, Touka's father. Tasuke's brother has invested in a political career to find a way to save Magical Girls, but Tasuke now insists that publicly revealing Magical Girls is a fatal mistake that will only lead to their destruction. He claims the only option is to prolong their lives.[11]
Tasuke later meets with Touka and Nemu. They reveal they know his hypothesis but refuse to accept resignation. Driven by their genius and curiosity, they intend to overcome the "insurmountable wall" of destruction, and Tasuke vows to stop them.[11]
Nayuta waits anxiously for her father, and Lavi and Livia are present when Tasuke arrives. He explains his long absence: his research led him to a horrifying hypothesis—if the existence of Magical Girls becomes public knowledge, it will cause widespread despair and lead to their ruin. He hid this truth to protect Nayuta from giving up hope. He reveals the current conflict in Kamihama is an unintended experiment to test this hypothesis.[11]
Lavi confirms she has been working with Tasuke all along to monitor the situation and ensure Nayuta's safety. Nayuta is devastated, feeling her entire friendship with Lavi was a lie. The emotional shock causes her to faint and release her Doppel.[11]
Separately, Urara visits Kagome in her hospital room, and tells her that she is leaving Promised Blood, and tells her that Kagome should keep chronicling the lives of Magical Girls.[11]
After Nayuta recovers, Tasuke and Lavi leave her a choice. They invite her to join Folklore of Zero in Yukuni to observe the hypothesis' verification from the sidelines, or to stay home and watch the outcome without interference. They apologize for their deception but affirm their genuine care for her.[11]
Nayuta decides to go with them, however as they prepare to leave, they receive a message from Touka. She announces that she and Nemu have finalized a plan to reveal Magical Girls to the world using the Rumor of the Eternal Sakura and invite everyone to watch. Tasuke realizes he must postpone their departure to witness this final, critical event.[11]
Neo-Magius
Himena and the core members of Neo-Magius—San, Miyuri, Hagumu, and Shigure—bond over their shared emotional wounds and their desire to change. They believe their collective effort to spread Magical Girl Supremacy is their greatest strength. The group's covert operations progress favorably. They successfully manipulate the Tokime Clan's Head Family and recruit Ao Kasane from Promised Blood. Alexandra reveals she has located the operational radio telescope in Hokuyo Ward, which they plan to use to broadcast Himena's voice across the city.[11]
Himena had previously questioned Livia about the Endless Mirrors Labyrinth, specifically its property of creating copies of those who enter. She is disappointed to learn that these copies cannot leave the Labyrinth and are difficult to control, making them unsuitable for her synthesis ability. Livia also warned Himena that the historical east-west division in Kamihama is basically a ticking timebomb.[11]
San pressures Himena to master her ability to synthesize with substances, not just people, as it is crucial for their strategy. Shigure informs Himena that she captured a Mirrors clone of Mitsune, hoping to use it for synthesis experiments. Himena declines, having abandoned the idea of using copies, and decides instead to synthesize her ability with the radio telescope and the unique magic of Meiyui Chun, believing this combination will allow her to "change all the rules."[11]
Alexandra confronts Himena, pleading with her to abandon the plan and join forces with Iroha instead. She argues that using and manipulating so many people is wrong and that the plan could get them all killed. Himena refuses, stating her love for Hiko and her ideals are non-negotiable. Faced with an ultimatum to choose between her or the Neo-Magius, Himena chooses the latter. Alexandra leaves the group, warning Himena that the Neo-Magius' plan will kill her. Himena declares she is willing to become a slaughterer for her cause, blaming the people around her for making her this way.[11]
Mikage
After parting ways with Nayuta, Mikage and Sudachi go to the Tomorrow Shop candy store in Sankyo Ward. They feel useless after failing to protect Kagome and wish they could become dependable adults.[11]
At the shop, a group of children from the West harass Mikage for being from the eastern Daito Ward. They cite news reports and parental warnings that label the East as dangerous and connected to criminals. The confrontation escalates when one child throws a rock, striking Mikage in the head.[11]
Mitama and Kanagi witness this incident. Mitama, already filled with resentment towards the city for the ostracization she faced, confronts the children. She declares her hatred for the entire city and states she will no longer tolerate discrimination that impacts daily life. Kanagi reflects that the younger generation's perpetuation of these attitudes spells despair for Kamihama's future.[11]
Alina
Karin returns alone from the Endless Mirrors Labyrinth and reports reaching a deeper level where she encountered a Magical Girl known only to Yachiyo and Mitama. This entity, a persona of memories named Mikoto Sena, harbors a deep resentment.[11]
Inside the Labyrinth, Alina communicates with Mikoto, who reveals she is the consciousness of the Witch Endless Mirrors. Mikoto explains she was a Magical Girl who used self-suggestion magic to cope with a miserable home life. When she began to turn into a Witch, her self-suggestion broke, flooding her with negative emotions. In that moment, she resonated with Mitama Yakumo's wish to "destroy Kamihama." To survive, Mikoto implanted her persona and memories into another Magical Girl, Hanna Sarasa, and has since transferred between hosts like a parasite, eventually reaching Alina. Gathering energy from the Witch Eve gave her the power to manifest fully.[11]
Mikoto asks Alina to join her in destroying everything. In return, Alina demands her lost memories back. Mikoto returns them, and Alina recalls her original artistic philosophy: humanity unconsciously desires destruction, and she intended to provide a magnificent, global masterpiece of annihilation. Alina rejects Karin's "Reformation Project" and enthusiastically embraces Mikoto's "Evolution Project" to bring about destruction.[11]
This truth reaches Mitama. The revelation that Mikoto Sena, a Witch born from the same destructive wish Mitama made, now lives on within Alina and actively seeks destruction, confirms Mitama's despair. This, combined with the ongoing discrimination against the East, pushes Mitama to her breaking point.[11]
Forty-fourth Day
Iroha and Yachiyo prepare to unite the eight Kimochi Stones at Seaside Park. The mood is somber due to the recent conflicts. Tsuruno arrives with food from Banbanzai and the rest of the Mikazuki Villa residents, including Sana, Ui, and Felicia, arrive with luggage, eager to move back home.[11]
Iroha receives a call from Momoko, who reports that Mitama and Kanagi are missing from the Coordinator's shop. Shortly after, Shizuka announces to the Tokime Clan that she will not join the alliance with the Union or Promised Blood. She declares her new philosophy: to actively guide people away from evil, which she believes is now necessary after witnessing the ugliness of Kamihama's citizens. Sunao slaps her, and Shizuka leaves, taking some branch family members with her.[11]
Concurrently, Yuna and Juri discover that Ao has gone missing from Futatsugi City, along with Janomiya members who support her desire for a place where the weak are not exploited.[11]
Before the meeting, Kyubey and Lil' Kyubey talk to each other, and Kyubey tells him that no matter how many times he tries to interfere, it will not work. Himena spots them, having tried to catch Lil' Kyubey for a while, but he escapes again. Later, Kyubey talks to Livia and thanks her for helping him in his experiments by increasing the east-west conflict. However, he also tells her that despite the raised conflict, Doppels simply yield less energy than Witches. Livia also learns from him that the Neo-Magius will keep causing conflict in Kamihama and that he intends to have Kagome increase her potential even more.[11]
The various groups, all missing key members, decide to proceed with their meeting at Seaside Park. They agree that their missing comrades may be colluding or have had their interests aligned by a third party. Despite the absences, the groups decide to consolidate their Kimochi Stones as a symbol of their fragile unity, choosing Iroha to be the holder.[11]
As Iroha receives the stones from Juri, Hikaru, Chiharu and Felicia, the Kimochi manifest and go berserk, specifically targeting Ui. The group fights back but struggles until Kanagi, Mitama, Ao, and Shizuka arrive. Ui stops them from using their Doppels, warning them that she can feel something is wrong with the system. Together, they pacify the Kimochi and return them to their bracelet forms.[11]
Ui then reveals she senses a fundamental change in Kamihama: the Automatic Purification System has been deactivated. Kyubey appears and confirms this, explaining that it infiltrated the system's core due to its connection to Lil' Kyubey. It was able to slowly do so after Ui and Lil' Kyubey, each as the previous cores, left it unattended. Kyubey now controls the system's on-off switch and reveals he intends to experiment to compare the emotional energy output of Doppels versus Witches. He gives them back Lil' Kyubey, intending to observe him instead of getting rid of him, as he could still be useful. Ui realizes that Kyubey was making the Kimochi suffer so they'd attack her, as Ui could replace him as the core. Kyubey confirms this, since Ui, as the origin of Eve, is the only one who can fully control the Kimochi and reclaim the system. However, he's not worried, as he believes one person will never be able to control all the Kimochi at once.[11]
After Kyubey's departure, Himena and the core Neo-Magius members—San, Miyuri, Hagumu, and Shigure—reveal themselves, having faked Himena's death. Kanagi, Mitama, Ao, and Shizuka then declare their allegiance to the Neo-Magius and their new goal: to rule Kamihama under a system of Magical Girl Supremacy. They claim the four Kimochi Stones in their possession.[11]
Himena outlines the Neo-Magius' plan is to create a hierarchical society with the Neo-Magius leadership at the top, followed by their members, then other Magical Girls, and finally humans at the bottom. She implies they will use force to make humanity acknowledge Magical Girl Superiority. This revelation divides the Magical Girls into two major factions: the Neo-Magius and the combined forces of the Union, Tokime Clan, and Promised Blood. Mitama, Kanagi, Ao and Shizuka leave their allies behind and side with the Neo-Magius. Iroh now holds half of the Kimochi Stones while the Neo-Magius holds the other four.[11]
That same evening, at the Rumor of the Eternal Sakura, Touka and Nemu meet with Kagome, who's just been released from the hospital, Folklore of Zero, Tasuke, and Nayuta. Touka and Nemu announce their intention to disprove Tasuke's hypothesis about public knowledge of Magical Girls leading to ruin. They perform a process with the Eternal Sakura, transforming into their Magical Girl forms and detonating their bracelets. The massive explosion seemingly kills them, leaving their ultimate goal and survival a mystery, known only to the Eternal Sakura.[11]
Another Story Chapter 8
While Kanagi works at her maid cafe to support her family, Momoko visits her to relay information from Karin. She reveals that the Witch of Endless Mirrors was confirmed to be a Magical Girl named Mikoto Sena. Concurrently, Mikage delivers the same news to Mitama, who is deeply troubled, as the date Sena Mikoto became a Witch coincides with the day she made her own wish to destroy Kamihama. She confesses this to Kanagi, believing her wish is an inescapable curse that will inevitably be fulfilled.
Around the same time, Kanagi and Mitama are separately approached by the Neo-Magius members San and Miyuri. They are invited to a meeting. Ao also receives an invitation and encourages Kanagi to attend. Kanagi agrees, reasoning that Mitama will likely join the group regardless.
The next day, Kanagi and Mitama travel together to the meeting. Kanagi expresses her own growing despair over the entrenched East-West conflict in Kamihama, citing the recent incident where a child threw a rock at Mikage. At a cafe, they meet San, Miyuri, Shizuka, and Ao. San outlines the Neo-Magius' goal of Magical Girl supremacy, which would position them as gods above humanity. Himena then also reveals herself to be alive, and explains her plan to achieve supremacy.
Kanagi attempts to read Himena's mind but is blocked by the presence of Hiko in her consciousness, confirming Himena is not insane but calculating. Impressed by the group's resolve and seeing a path to her own goals, Kanagi agrees to join. The four new members—Kanagi, Mitama, Shizuka, and Ao—publicly declare their allegiance to the Neo-Magius.
(In the following days) Kanagi's younger brother is severely beaten by a group of men from a western-affiliated organization that had previously sabotaged the eastern candidate in the mayoral election. The police show a suspicious lack of interest in the case. Simultaneously, Kanagi learns that her workplace, the maid cafe, has been receiving threats not to employ anyone from Daito Ward (the east), and that another cafe was forced to close due to such attacks.
This series of events become Kanagi's final breaking point. She tracks down and violently assaults the members of the organization responsible, leaving many in critical condition.
That night, in the aftermath, Kanagi confronts her Doppel, which represents her inner self. It convinces her that she has crossed a point of no return and that true equality for Kamihama can only be achieved through total destruction. Kanagi fully accepts this path, resolving to become a true villain to break the city's cycle of conflict, even if it means hurting those she loves.
The next day, the police investigate the brutal attack on the saboteur group's base, with the only lead being a single, unidentified girl.
Forty-fifth Day
Iroha's redistributed her Kimochi Stones to her allies. She keeps Sapphire Lips for herself, gives Aquamarine Heel to Yuna, Opal Head to Juri, and Diamond Hair to Chiharu. They've realized that as long as the Kimochi are in their bracelet forms, Kyubey can't rile them up, so they should be careful when passing them to others.[12]
Yuna announces she will return to Futatsugi for the holiday to handle school and money matters. She learns Ao has gone back there too and orders reserves to watch her. Chiharu and Sunao discuss contacting Shizuka, who read their message but did not reply. Sunao mentions the picture book Sana drew for her and Sana confirms she made it to offer Shizuka a new perspective on good and evil.[12]
Meanwhile, Neo-Magius members meet separately. Himena confirms they still plan to use the radio telescope to tell all of Kamihama about Magical Girls, but too many enemies nearby prevent them from acting right away. San understands the delay, and Himena feels excited because Promised Blood now faces money troubles that force them back to Futatsugi, giving Neo-Magius a perfect chance to weaken them further. Hagumu worries that the telescope has security set by Touka in the past, so any early warning could let the other side strike first. Shigure thinks going public already might have been a mistake if they cannot move quickly, but Himena insists that Neo-Magius will attack first. Miyuri cheers the progress toward earning respect for Magical Girls and turning San into a god, but San quickly stops her because Shigure and Hagumu only know about revealing Magical Girls to the public, not the harsher steps Himena now plans. Shizuka privately decides the plan makes sense even if it causes damage, since she views Kamihama as full of evil under a bad leader; she believes they must destroy that evil first to set the stage for the Tokime Clan to guide everyone toward goodness, and she even considers overthrowing Himena early to make her own clan the saviors. Himena keeps sending messages to Alexandra that go unread, begging her to reply.[12]
While Shigure and Hagumu live their daily lives, Shigure messages Hagumu with worry about making people believe the telescope broadcast, and Hagumu realizes she knows no details either. Miyuri asks San if they really must hide the full telescope plan from Hagumu and Shigure. San admits it feels hard but explains the group's plans have shifted to forcing supremacy through extreme actions that would drive Hagumu and Shigure away if they learned the truth. Miyuri wonders if San truly accepts how this could ruin her ties to her village and youth association, but San replies she came prepared for those relationships to change and plans to become a benevolent god who protects people even if Himena turns into a destructive one. She blames Himena’s sudden harsh turn on terror over losing Alexandra, the only person besides the deceased Hiko who truly cared for her.[12]
At her home, Tsukasa is frustrated that her father has confined her since learning about her relationship with Tsukuyo. She decides she has waited long enough to act and Tsukuyo messages her about Promised Blood heading home to Futatsugi for the holiday, urging her to help the Union now. Take visits and shares that their boss wants to wait for things to calm down before letting Tsukasa out freely. Tsukasa thanks him and promises his favorite dinner as repayment. She reflects that Touka and Nemu always pushed harsh methods yet genuinely risked their lives for Magical Girl liberation, while she and Tsukuyo have only leaned on others.[12]
Iroha and Ui visit the hospital hoping to see Touka and Nemu, but staff allow no visitors. Mifuyu explains that the bracelets were meant to kill them on activation, yet they survived because their Soul Gems stayed intact. Ui asks if they will recover, and Iroha hopes so but admits confusion over why they stay unconscious. Mifuyu decides to store their Soul Gems in Touka’s secure private room for regular purification since distance would mean their bodies would die and worsen their condition. She asks Iroha and Ui to check on them sometimes because her own Endless Mirrors investigation and other duties might keep her away. They spot an old instruction manual Touka wrote to help Nemu manage her web novels and sales which reminds Iroha of Sana’s new picture book for Shizuka, and she suggests using the app’s gift feature to send it digitally so Shizuka might actually read it.[12]
Momoko, Karin, Kaede, Rena, and Ranka work to calm Karin after she panics over Endless Mirrors. Juri shows up, and Ranka explains she physically stopped Karin from rushing alone into Mirrors to rescue Alina. The group heads to the arcade to let off steam, while Momoko goes to check the East for more defections after Kanagi left, though luckily, advance warnings kept most girls from following.[12]
Mikage talks quietly with Sudachi and vows to bring Mitama home, even if they end up fighting and Mikage struggles to forgive her. Sudachi confesses she once killed several classmates with her wish to prove Mikage’s heart can stay kind no matter what. Mikage refuses to hate her and promises to help her remain gentle, which convinces Mikage she will never truly hate Mitama either. Separately, Himena receives a reply at last and happily tells San they can arrange a polite pickup, ready to find out if it is genuine.[12]
Tsukasa cooks Take’s favorite meat and potatoes dish, tricks him into leaving with a phone call from their boss, and slips out alone. She meets Himena in secret, confirms Promised Blood leaves for Futatsugi tomorrow, and explains she will join Neo-Magius to become feared villains who rewrite Kamihama history—only then will the city drive her and Tsukuyo out and free them from old ties. Himena welcomes her, promising Magical Girls cannot be expelled and can choose to stay or leave freely. Shizuka also receives the gifted picture book from Sunao and wonders what Sunao means by it, ready to treat any joke harshly as clan leader.[12]
Episode 2
Kagome visits the Coordinators to ask about Neo-Magius activities, since no one detects their magical signatures in Kamihama. Livia knows nothing, but Himena suddenly arrives for a power-up adjustment. She chooses Livia over Mitama to avoid risks if Mitama peers inside her mind and discovers the plan. Livia performs the adjustment, then warns the group privately that Himena's goal opposes saving Magical Girls and could lead to disaster.[12]
Neo-Magius gathers, including Kanagi, Mitama, and Shizuka. Himena reassures them she avoids harming Magical Girls unnecessarily and focuses on supremacy to save everyone. Kanagi and Mitama target Kamihama's history and people instead, while Shizuka aims to purge the city's evil. San reminds them conflict remains inevitable with Union and others. They plan to act during the break when Promised Blood stays away, and Kanagi offers to lure Union members out so Himena's group can infiltrate Mikazuki Villa undetected.[12]
At Mikazuki Villa, Yachiyo, Tsuruno, and Felicia puzzle over the Neo-Magius' intentions. They dismiss the civic center base and consider the radio telescope tied to old Magius operations, but find no activity there. Kanagi messages Yachiyo offering intel on the Neo-Magius' plans but warns of sharp opponents and suggests preparing contingencies with a public meeting spot. The group suspects a trap given Kanagi's earlier resolve, yet decides to go with Momoko's team while Iroha, Sana, and Ui follow as backup.[12]
In Futatsugi, Yuna manages Promised Blood logistics amid family limits and financial strains. Hikaru reports steady watch on Ao with no issues and Yuna receives Kanagi's message through the Union. She views it suspiciously as a lure, but recognizes the Neo-Magius movement requires heightened alert.[12]
Iroha asks Sunao about sending Sana's picture book to Shizuka; Sunao confirms delivery and read status but no reply. Sana doubts its impact as an amateur work, but Sunao insists it could help if shared in person. Sunao summarizes the story: a timid turtle learns kindness makes her valuable, ignores a trapped tiger's pleas as a villain, yet a white bird rescues the repentant tiger—revealing the turtle judged wrongly. Sana explains the turtle represents her, the tiger Yuna, and the bird Iroha, inspired by Iroha's words that all fight to be saved despite differences; she hopes it promotes rejecting conflict for collective salvation.[12]
Yachiyo alerts Iroha to Kanagi's likely trap in Minaminagi, instructing a small advance group while Iroha's team trails for potential flank. Sunao prepares the Tokime Clan as Shizuka approaches, detected alongside Ao's earlier appearance. Chiharu and Kagome confirm Neo-Magius mobilization, and Iroha hopes Sunao conveys their feelings through the book to persuade Shizuka.[12]
Yachiyo, Momoko, and others meet Kanagi and Mitama in public. Kanagi admits the message served as bait to draw them out; neither plans to return. Mitama and Kanagi declare they will become a great evil uniting others against Kamihama's rotten history and fulfilling their destructive wishes meaningfully. They attack briefly, then Mitama paralyzes the group with pre-set fabric magic and tampering their Soul Gems. Kanagi takes Lil' Kyubey as a souvenir, and they leave a hatching Grief Seed as distraction before departing.[12]
Kanagi and Mitama anticipate the group moves to the cargo port for safe fighting, using it as pretext to empty the villa. They reaffirm no intent for serious harm among Magical Girls but proceed with their resolved path.[12]
Himena, Shigure, and Hagumu wait near the radio telescope and Kanagi signals success by destroying the villa computer, disabling alerts. They enter using Mitama's old Magius-era passcode, start the system—modified for ease—and confirm readiness once they acquire Meiyui's perception-altering magic to synthesize through Himena's power, broadcasting the altered reality city-wide beyond mere value shifts.[12]
San and Miyuri confront Nanaka's team to capture Meiyui. A battle ensue where San's absolute defense and Miyuri's relentless assault overwhelm them until Iroha, Ui, Sana, and Hinano intervene. Hinano's chemicals temporarily knock San out, forcing retreat without Meiyui.[12]
Himena faces iris recognition security Touka added. She spares Shigure and Hagumu the sight of comatose Touka, tasking San with photographing her eye while they fetch Mitsune for potential synthesized falsification magic without witch risk.[12]
Iroha's group reaches the paralyzed team, removes fabrics, and handles the hatched Witch. Reports flood in of widespread Witches—Neo-Magius strategy to scatter forces. Nanaka's team volunteers to fight Witches threatening civilians, freeing Mikazuki to check the villa.
Back home, searches reveal nothing stolen or damaged, leaving everyone confused about the intrusion's purpose.[12]
Episode 3
Kagome, investigating the Neo-Magius, visits the Tokime Clan at Suitoku Temple. Shizuka arrives, not to rejoin the clan, but to convince her former followers to support her vision of Diviners ruling as gods to purge evil. Sunao and Chiharu reject her, arguing that her methods are no different from the oppressive rules of their village. Shizuka uses her magic to trap them in a barrier and escapes.[12]
During the confrontation, Ryoko helps the brainwashed branch family members see the flaw in Shizuka's logic: that by defining good and evil themselves, they are creating the very shadows they seek to eliminate. The branch members break free, dispelling Shizuka's barrier. Chiharu makes an emotional plea for Shizuka to return, emphasizing that the clan's strength comes from their mutual support, not from one person ruling above all.[12]
Simultaneously, major revelations occur within the Neo-Magius. Shigure and Hagumu visit Mitsune in the hospital to ask for her falsification magic. Mitsune reveals that she remembers what happened to Jun, and also confesses that Himena previously forced her to use her power to falsify the goals of a candidate in the Kamihama mayoral election. This revelation, combined with a message from the absent Alexandra, reveals to Shigure and Hagumu that Himena's ultimate plan is not merely to reveal Magical Girls, but to use the radio telescope to synthesize Mitsune's magic and force a lethal ideology upon the population, which would result in mass death.[12]
Horrified, Shigure and Hagumu help Mitsune escape from the hospital. The three of them jump from the window, helping to carry Mitsune along with them.[12]
At the radio telescope facility, Himena is thwarted by a pre-recorded message from Touka, which reveals that the security system has been updated and cannot be bypassed with simple infrared photography. This makes Mitsune's magic absolutely essential for their plan to proceed.[12]
San and Miyuri, meanwhile, attempt to recruit Mifuyu at the hospital by appealing to her debt to Touka and Nemu. Mifuyu refuses and instead tries to recruit them, but San reveals the Neo-Magius' true, genocidal plan to Mifuyu, who is horrified and calls them insane. San incapacitates Mifuyu with a chemical agent and leaves.[12]
The Union, led by Yachiyo, deduces that the Neo-Magius' target is the radio telescope and that Kanagi and Mitama's sabotage of their computer was meant to prevent them from receiving security alerts from the facility.[12]
Episode 4
Immediately after Mifuyu's capture, San and Miyuri transport her. San receives a call from Kanagi, who reports that Yachiyo and the main Union force are en route to the radio telescope. Kanagi states her team will stall them and San also learns that Shizuka's team has not reported in from Suitoku Temple. San leaves Miyuri to take Mifuyu ahead and goes to check on Kanagi's squad.[12]
At the cargo port, a standoff continues between Kanagi, Mitama, and the Union. Iroha and Ui plead with them to stand down, but Kanagi and Mitama explain their resolve to use force to change Kamihama, stating that trust and dialogue have failed. Shigure, Hagumu, and Mitsune arrive, fleeing from San. Shigure reveals the Neo-Magius' true plan is to use the radio telescope to broadcast a signal that uses Mitsune's falsification magic. This signal would make people unable to eat or drink without acknowledging the superiority of Magical Girls, breaking the population through fear and instinct.[12]
Yachiyo confronts Kanagi, who confirms her involvement in this plan. A battle erupts as the Union tries to break through to the telescope. Kanagi and Mitama, aided by their Neo-Magius Feathers, successfully stall the Union forces.[12]
Concurrently, at Suitoku Temple, Sunao and Chiharu use the Kimochi Stone of Respect, provided by Juri and Ranka, to enter Shizuka's heart. They find it frozen over, but through a role-play based on Sana's picture book, they help Shizuka realize that her method of purging evil by inflicting suffering is flawed. Shizuka understands that true virtue involves healing the suffering that causes wrongdoing, not punishing the wrongdoer. She apologizes to her clan and decides to lead them not as a solitary ruler, but with the support of the branch families. The reunited Tokime Clan also heads for the radio telescope.[12]
Shizuka contacts Iroha via telepathy to inform her the Tokime Clan is on the way. Tsukuyo also broadcasts a telepathic warning to all Magical Girls in Kamihama about the Neo-Magius' plan. Yuna and the Promised Blood faction, having dealt with Ao, arrive to reinforce the Union. With their combined numbers, the Union breaks through Kanagi and Mitama's defensive line.[12]
Inside the radio telescope facility, Himena uses Mitsune's magic to disable the final security and Mifuyu's magic to synthesize the broadcast signal. As the combined Union, Tokime Clan, and Promised Blood forces prepare a final assault on the telescope, Himena announces she has already completed the broadcast and the signal is now active across Kamihama.[12]
Kagome confirms the signal's effect; she's become physically unable to drink water and now a countdown begins for the city's population. Livia reveals to Kyubey that the Neo-Magius will withdraw their cooperation if his actions threaten the well-being of Magical Girls.[12]
Episode 5
Nayuta, Tasuke, Lavii, Asahi, Alexandra, and Urara arrive in Yukuni City.. Nayuta reflects on the apparent deaths of Touka and Nemu, uncertain if their plan to reveal Magical Girls will lead to salvation or more misfortune.[12]
Upon arriving in Yukuni, Lavi warns the group to be cautious, as the city's students are hostile toward Magical Girls. Their fears are confirmed when Nayuta is suddenly kidnapped by a student group called the Eradication Faction, led by Kurara, Urara's former partner.[12]
During Nayuta's captivity, Kurara and the other students confront Nayuta. They accuse Lavi and her friends of causing numerous deaths and mental breakdowns among the student body in the past. They claim that after the Magical Girls left, the city became peaceful, and they view their return with Nayuta as a sign of renewed danger.[12]
After Nayuta's rescue, Lavi and the others rescue Nayuta and retreat to a guesthouse, which is revealed to be Lavi's family home. Tasuke explains that he previously used this location as a base to write his book and research Magical Girls.[12]
Nayuta learns the full story of what happened in Yukuni. Lavi, Asahi, and Alexandra attempted to reveal the existence of Magical Girls to gain understanding and comfort for their tragic fate. Initially successful, their actions soon led to a chain of misfortunes, including student deaths from a Witch, a separate accident, and an avalanche. The public turned on them, blaming every disaster on the Magical Girls. Despite Tasuke's efforts to help them regain trust, the situation deteriorated. The Magical Girls that remained alive were driven out of the city after an incident where they "destroyed everyone's spirits."[12]
That night, Nayuta discusses the events with her father. Tasuke reveals his hypothesis that the universe itself may have a "will" or an "immune system" that actively works to suppress the truth about Magical Girls to protect the energy cycle they fuel. He theorizes that the misfortune in Yukuni and the current conflict in Kamihama are manifestations of this cosmic self-cleansing, a force that eliminates threats to the system. He sent Lavi's group to observe Kamihama to test this theory, fearing that revealing Magical Girls will only lead to despair.[12]
Another Story Chapter 9
The day after learning the truth about Yukuni City, Nayuta reflects on Tasuke's hypothesis that a cosmic "will of the universe" actively suppresses the revelation of Magical Girls. She remains unsatisfied with this conclusion, suspecting her father may have become disheartened by past failures. Lavi's mother expresses gratitude to Nayuta and Tasuke for providing Lavi a safe home away from the bullying she endured in Yukuni.
Nayuta volunteers to run an errand in town, secretly hoping to confront the hostile Eradication Faction. Lavi and the others initially refuse, citing the danger, but relent and accompany her when Nayuta sneaks out on her own.
As they walk, the Folklore members explain their shared goal. They came to Kamihama to test Tasuke's hypothesis, acting as observers infiltrated into various factions to see if attempts to reveal Magical Girls would be thwarted by cosmic forces, as they were in Yukuni. They describe themselves as connected by their shared "resignation." Lavi tells Nayuta that if she wishes to be part of their group, Folklore of Zero, she must also give up her hope.
The group is confronted by Kurara and the Eradication Faction. Nayuta tries to argue that Magical Girls are not malicious, but Lavi intervenes and withdraws. To make Nayuta understand their resignation, Lavi and the others take her on a tour of the sites of past tragedies in Yukuni: the location of the initial fatal explosion, the parking lot where their magic went wild and destroyed the minds of students during a reconciliation attempt, and the site of the bus accident that Urara survived but which fueled further hatred.
After hearing these stories and witnessing the group still dutifully fight Witches despite their trauma, Nayuta is heartbroken but remains resolved. She tells Lavi she cannot give up her hope, as she wants a future where the Folklore members can be saved and be happy.
The following day, the group prepares to return to Kamihama. As they leave Yukuni, Nayuta reaffirms her determination to create a future where Magical Girls are saved. On the train, Lavi reflects on their role as bystanders and fears that if Kamihama meets the same fate as Yukuni, proving the universe's will is hostile, Nayuta will come to despise them. The group arrives back in Kamihama City.
Chapter 10
Episode 1
(In the past?) Nayuta, having learned her father abandoned his research to save Magical Girls, travels to Yukuni with Lavi and others. She learns of past failed attempts to reveal Magical Girls to the world, which resulted in public resentment, and concludes that a universal "will" suppresses anything that could threaten its energy supply. Determined to find salvation regardless, Nayuta resolves to witness events in Kamihama City, where the existence of Magical Girls is about to be revealed.[13]
(Three days ago) Himena mails a data disc to various media outlets in Kamihama. The disc contains information about Magical Girls and a prediction of the upcoming crisis.[13]
(In the present) At night, Himena, with the aid of San and Miyuri, enacts her plan. She uses Mitsune's power to manipulate the mayor of Kamihama and reignite the city's East-West conflict. More critically, she places a city-wide suggestion that prevents all residents from eating or drinking, creating a mass life-threatening crisis.[13]
The Kamihama Magia Union learns the truth from defectors and deduce that Himena's plan is to use the crisis to force the public to acknowledge Magical Girl supremacy. When the population's fear and anxiety peak, she will reveal herself and use the media to broadcast the existence of Magical Girls, presenting the data sent three days prior as a "prophecy" that has now come true.[13]
The Union mobilizes to stop the broadcast. They split into teams to hunt Witches released by the Neo-Magius, protect their families, and seize control of Kamihama's broadcasting infrastructure, including the radio tower.[13]
Simultaneously, Sana and Shizuka infiltrate the Neo-Magius headquarters where they discover the shipping receipt for the data discs, revealing Himena's plan to use the media. The Neo-Magius, their broadcast network compromised, changes tactics. They decide to gather at the Kamihama Civic Center and use its loudspeaker system to project Himena's voice across the city the following morning.[13]
The Union regroups and moves to confront the Neo-Magius at the Civic Center. Meanwhile, Kanagi and Mitama struggle against the corruption force of the Kimochi. They resolve to fuse their souls with their sorrow to prevent the Kimochi from consuming them, embracing a destructive path.[13]
In a separate location, Ao prepares for an unknown mission targeting the Eradication Faction in Yukuni City.[13]
Episode 2
That night, Kagome, safe at her home on the city border, records the ongoing crisis in Kamihama as a historical lesson. Meanwhile, "Operation Friendship," led by Momoko, Mikage, and Tsukuyo, attempts to unite citizens from Kamihama's East and West to create a message of solidarity. The operation meets with limited success, as most residents are preoccupied with the physical discomfort preventing them from eating or drinking.[13]
The Kamihama Magia Union arrives at the Kamihama Civic Center based on information from Sana. They are ambushed by Kanagi and Mitama, who have undergone a dark transformation. The two declare their intent to bring "meaningful destruction" to Kamihama, believing that only death can end suffering. A battle ensues, during which Kanagi and Mitama demonstrate significantly enhanced powers. After a difficult fight, they retreat, leaving behind a trap that the Union narrowly escapes.[13]
Simultaneously, the infiltration team of Sana and Shizuka is discovered at the Neo-Magius headquarters. After a confrontation with San and a narrow escape aided by the Tokime Clan, Sana learns that the Neo-Magius plans to send a team to Yukuni. Their goal is to intercept Ao and the "Janomiya" group, film them confronting a the "eradication faction," and broadcast the footage online to showcase Magical Girl power through violence.[13]
The Union regroups and analyzes new information. Flyers distributed by the Neo-Magius before the crisis began are discovered, directing people to a DoTube channel for a livestream. Iroha confirms this is part of the plan to broadcast the violent confrontation in Yukuni. Yachiyo reveals her own plan to appear as a commentator on a live news broadcast to directly address the public and counter the Neo-Magius' narrative, despite the risk to her modeling career.[13]
In response to the new information, Promised Blood immediately departs for Yukuni to intercept Ao and prevent the broadcast. The remaining members of the Union prepare to pursue Kanagi and Mitama, who are believed to be heading for Kamihama's city hall to use its disaster warning radio system for their own ends.[13]
Elsewhere, Nayuta and her group observe the conflict, noting that the same desire to reveal Magical Girls is causing internal strife, which may align with the universe's supposed "will" to suppress such information.[13]
Episode 3
At night, Kagome observes the conflict, noting the vicious cycle of suffering between Magical Girls and Kamihama's citizens. She follows Mikage, feeling hope from her actions.[13]
At Mitama's Shop, Sana is treated for her injuries by Livia, Yozuru, and Sudachi. Shizuka also provides a Grief Seed to aid her recovery.[13]
The Kamihama Magia Union regroups and Yachiyo departs for her television appearance. Shigure and Hagumu leave to search for the missing Mitsune. Iroha, Ui, Tsuruno, and Felicia continue towards Kamihama's city hall but lose track of Kanagi and Mitama's magic signatures. Tsuruno's ability to sense them proves unreliable, forcing the team to split up and coordinate with other Magical Girls to search the wards.[13]
Meanwhile, Mifuyu and Tsukuyo, also searching for Tsukasa, deduce Kanagi and Mitama's destination is a branch office in Mizuna Ward housing a disaster warning radio. They find the two, surprised that their appearances and magic have been altered by their commitment to destruction. A battle ensues, during which Kanagi and Mitama explain their goal to unite Kamihama's East and West by becoming a common enemy through the city's destruction, forcing the survivors to join hands.[13]
Momoko's "Operation Friendship" team arrives as reinforcements. Momoko, Rena, Kaede, and Mikage confront Kanagi and Mitama. Mikage reveals their efforts to unite the city through a student petition and online campaign. They present evidence of growing public support, including a televised press conference where the mayor resigns and Yachiyo endorses the petition. Confronted with this proof of a peaceful path and heartfelt pleas from Kanagi's brother and Mitama's former bully, Kanagi and Mitama relent and abandon their destructive plan.[13]
They reveal the true location of the Neo-Magius' final broadcast as Sakae 1090. They depart to disable Himena's equipment themselves and the Union, now united with Momoko's team, prepares to assault the 1090 building.[13]
In a separate location, Shigure and Hagumu find Mitsune, who was hidden by Himena to keep her safe. Mitsune reveals that Himena has set a dangerous "trap" at the 1090 and pleads with them to stop her.[13]
Elsewhere, Nayuta's group receives news of Mitama's return, seeing it as a sign of hope. Alexandra, unable to give up on Himena, decides to rejoin the fight.[13]
Episode 4
That night, Promised Blood, having arrived in Yukuni, struggles to locate the Eradication Faction's base. Through telepathy, Urara provides the faction's location and reveals its current leader is her ex-partner Kurara, whom she also wants saved.[13]
The team locates the base in the mountains. Yuna explains their plan to use the Kimochi Stone of Fear to connect with Ao's soul and restore her lost sense of fear. They find Ao holding Kurara captive. Ao's demeanor is violent and erratic, and a battle ensues, and the Janomiya grunts, concerned for Ao, release Kurara and her faction.[13]
Yuna, Juri, and Hikaru use the Kimochi Stone to enter a psychic space within Ao's soul. They discover the Kimochi has corroded her, and her sense of fear is destroyed. Yuna devises a plan to travel back through Ao's memories to the moment her fear first developed and protect it from the Kimochi's corruption.[13]
The three Magical Girls live through 14 years of Ao's life, raising her from a baby to a teenager while constantly fending off the Kimochi, which manifests whenever Ao feels fear. Their overprotective parenting leads to Ao becoming socially withdrawn. The final challenge appears as their own younger selves, who have come to eliminate the Magical Girl Ao. After a difficult battle that exhausts Yuna and Juri, a teenage Ao and Hikaru arrive. Empowered by the Kimochi Stone of Rage and her fear of losing her family, Ao helps defeat the final manifestation of the Kimochi.[13]
Back in the real world, the group returns to the forest, exhausted but successful. Ao's sense of fear is restored, and she reconciles with Yuna and Juri. Ranka informs them that while the Yukuni broadcast was prevented, Himena's main broadcast at Sakae 1090 in Kamihama is about to begin. The group is too drained to intervene. A mass text message from Himena orders all members of the Neo-Magius to leave Kamihama City immediately, one and a half hours before the broadcast starts.[13]
Episode 5
That night, the Union and allied groups converge on Sakae Ward to locate Himena before her broadcast. Iroha's team finds the Neo-Magius leadership at Sakae General School and defeats them. San, confronted with an illusion of her past, decides to move on from her obsession with the Fire Festival.[13]
Shizuka's team subdues rogue Feathers in a restricted zone. Tsukuyo deduces Tsukasa's location and finds her at a hospital. After a heartfelt conversation, Tsukasa agrees to help break the city-wide suggestion. The Union receives information that Himena is hiding in an abandoned museum.[13]
At the museum, the Union confronts Himena. She reveals her motivation stems from a desperate need for her family and hometown to acknowledge her and Hiko. A fierce battle ensues where Himena combines the stolen magics of various Magical Girls. She then reveals her backup plan: a device rigged across the city's power grid to force every Magical Girl to shatter their own Soul Gems.[13]
However, this trap is disabled by Kanagi, Mitama, and Livia. Exhausted and cornered, Himena prepares to become a Witch, having made a deal with Kyubey. Alexandra arrives and intervenes, using a Grief Seed to purify Himena. Alexandra vows to stay by Himena's side as a friend to support and restrain her, thus Himena surrenders.[13]
With only minutes until the broadcast, Tsukuyo and Tsukasa, along with Mifuyu, prepare to break the suggestion. Himena synthesizes Felicia's Oblivion magic and Mifuyu's Illusion magic. Lavi also arrives and uses her Concept Strengthening power to amplify the Amane sisters' resonance magic. At the last second, they unleash a city-wide spell that restores the citizens' ability to eat and drink and erases their memories of the incident, particularly those of the press.[13]
The following day, the public is left with unexplained data and confusion, but ultimately no knowledge of Magical Girls. The Kamihama Magia Union regroups at Mikazuki Villa and the Neo-Magius members, including Himena, begin to atone and look toward a different future. However, Kanagi and Mitama remain missing with the Kimochi Stone of Grief.[13]
At the Folklore of Zero base, Tasuke and his team, having observed the events, conclude that the universe's will to suppress Magical Girls is not absolute. They find new hope and resolve to continue their mission to save Magical Girls, enlisting Kagome's help. Kyubey approaches Kagome, noting her high potential and encouraging her to make a wish, but she declines for now.[13]
On her own, Karin enters the Endless Mirrors to find Alina.[13]
Another Story Chapter 10
On the night of the Neo Magius' city-wide operation, while the main Kamihama Magia Union confronts the leadership, other members assist Mikage's "Operation Best Buddies." This operation aims to promote a signature site for the "Student Council for the Future of Kamihama" to unite the city's East and West.
Asuka, Sasara, and Emiri clear out the Witches released by the Neo-Magius. Afterwards, Iroha tasks them with promoting the signature site, and the team, along with other Union members like Maria, Meguru, and Aimi, attempt to spread the site via social media but achieve limited success due to low reach and corporate restrictions, as idol Sayuki Fumino's management forbids her from posting about it.
Later that night, the team is called to the river between Kosho and Daito Wards by Rui. They find a large crowd of Witch-Kissed people from all over Western Kamihama attempting to cross into Daito Ward. The group, carrying heavy bags filled with objects to weigh themselves down, intend to commit suicide in the river as a form of atonement for their historical prejudice against the East. They explain their actions stem from guilt, weakness, and a warped sense of justice, amplified by the Neo-Magius' plan and Yachiyo's televised appeal.
The Magical Girls realize the only difference between themselves and the despairing citizens is the "luck" of their circumstances; had they not become Magical Girls and found a supportive community, they could have easily shared the same fate. This shared understanding becomes the key to reaching them.
Meiyui and Aimi defeat the influencing Witch, breaking her influence. Sayuki, defying her management, holds an impromptu guerrilla concert and announces a new song titled "#I'm Like You, I'm With You," a concept inspired by Ria's earlier commentary. The concert is broadcast online, and the hashtag trends locally. The Union uses this trending tag to successfully promote the signature site, leading to a massive surge in signatures and public support for unification.
Another Story Chapter 11
Kagome, having witnessed the failure of the Neo-Magius' plan and Himena's surrender, notes that all the Kimochi Stones are now gathered and the method to reclaim the Automatic Purification System is known. With the Magical Girls united and a period of quiet, she decides to conduct interviews to record their thoughts.
Her first interview is with Promised Blood. Yuna explains that the members have returned to Futatsugi City but she frequently visits Kamihama to interact with other Magical Girls. She expresses a new desire to create a "brighter future," a resolve strengthened by the strange, 14-year mental journey she, Juri, Hikaru, and Ao shared to save Ao. Yuna identifies this as a "sign" of change, evidenced by Juri's magic no longer running amok from stress. The interview is cut short when Juri arrives to inform Yuna that some Promised Blood members still target Kamihama's Magical Girls, confirming that not all conflicts are resolved.
Kagome next interviews the Tokime Clan and finds them conducting "social studies" at the 1090 building in Sakae Ward. Shizuka explains that to protect Japan and their wishes, the clan must understand the modern world to foresee the future. The interview quickly reverses as the clan members, overwhelmed by modern terms like "influencer" and "synergy," appoint Kagome as their teacher and bombard her with questions.
Kagome then interviews Puella Care. Livia is exhausted from the increased workload with Mitama's absence. She notes the atmosphere between herself, Sudachi, and Yozuru has changed since they learned she lied about her past. Despite this, they remain with her. Livia states she will formally tell them the truth when the time is right. The interview then reverses, with Livia questioning Kagome about the Uwasa of the Wind Evangelist.
Finally, Kagome interviews the Neo-Magius through Hagumu and Shigure. They reveal the faction was on the verge of disbandment after Himena's actions. However, Himena passionately persuaded the Feathers to stay, promising a softer approach to Magical Girl supremacy through analog methods like flyers, while maintaining their independence. Hagumu and Shigure speculate Himena's motive is efficiency, as the faction provides access to the Automatic Purification System.
After these interviews, all major factions receive a message from Lavi, summoning them to a presentation at the Kamihama Aquarium hosted by the Folklore of Zero.
(Flash-forward) Kagome recalls the sacrifice of Touka and Nemu and decides on her wish. She contracts with Kyubey, wishing for the power to Kyubey unable to interfere with the Automatic Purification System forever.
Chapter 11
Himena, believing her role in the conflict is over, goes to the harbor and throws her phone—which contained the backup for her nightmare-inducing device—into the sea. Unbeknownst to her, Mikoto Sena, using the powers of the Endless Mirrors, retrieves the phone.[14]
After the failure of Neo Magius' plan, Kagome, moved by the peaceful time achieved by the united Magical Girls, decides to conduct interviews to preserve a record of their experiences and feelings. She visits the leaders of the major factions.[15]
Kagome interviews Yuna Kureha of Promised Blood in a park. Yuna explains that most of her group returned to Futatsugi City but regularly visits Kamihama to interact with other Magical Girls. She reveals that some Promised Blood members still hold grudges against Kamihama Magical Girls, and she must go to persuade them. Before leaving, Yuna notes a significant change: Juri's magic, which was once unstable due to stress, has completely stopped its violent rampages. Yuna suggests this is a "sign" that they too can change.[15]
Kagome next attempts to interview the Tokime Clan in Sakae Ward. She finds Shizuka and her clan members conducting "social studies" to better understand the modern world and fulfill their mission to protect the Land of the Rising Sun. The session turns into an impromptu lesson where Kagome is pressured into answering the clan's questions about modern terminology like "influencer" and "synergy."[15]
Kagome then interviews Livia of Puella Care at their busy caravan. Livia explains that their services have become extremely popular, partly due to a Magical Girl's promotion. She notes a changed atmosphere between herself, Sudachi, and Yozuru, stemming from the two discovering Livia had concealed parts of her past. Livia states she will clarify things with them when the time is right. The interview reverses, and Livia questions Kagome about the origins of the "Rumor of the Wind Evangelist," which Kagome reluctantly explains.[15]
Finally, Kagome interviews Hagumu and Shigure of Neo-Magius. They reveal the organization was on the verge of dissolution after Himena's plan to kill non-allied Magical Girls was exposed, however, Himena passionately persuaded the members to stay, promising a softer, more analog approach to promoting Magical Girl supremacy. Hagumu and Shigure speculate Himena's motive was to maintain a usable asset, but they acknowledge it felt true to her character.[15]
Immediately after the interviews, a message from Lavi summons the leaders of all major groups to the Kamihama Aquarium for a briefing on the Folklore of Zero and Yukuni City.[15]
Iroha expresses doubt about her ability to protect everyone's feelings, especially with Touka and Nemu still in a coma. A reminder from Lavi announces a presentation by the Folklore of Zero group at the Kamihama Aquarium.[14]
Iroha and Kagome encounter Kyubey and Iroha demands the return of the Automatic Purification System. Kyubey refuses, stating that as long as Magical Girls reject becoming Witches, no compromise exists. Kagome expresses her desire to reveal the existence of Magical Girls to the public, believing it will lead to a kinder world, but Kyubey warns this could trigger a catastrophic reaction from the "Will of the Universe" theory.[14]
Later, at the Folklore of Zero meeting, the groups of Promised Blood, the Tokime Clan, and the Neo-Magius are also present. Tasuke and the members of Folklore of Zero express their renewed hope after witnessing the peaceful resolution of conflicts in Kamihama. Tasuke apologizes for his previous belief that the only salvation for Magical Girls was erasure before they fell to despair. He requests that the Kamihama Magia Union accept his team, and the Union formally welcomes them as well.[14]
Livia arrives and informs the group that Mitama and Kanagi are still missing. However, Sudachi has located them using the other Kimochi Stones, narrowing down their location to a particular beach. Livia, Yozuru, and Sudachi prepare to retrieve them, stating they require "darkness" for this mission and ask the others to stay behind.[14]
Later, Iroha, Ui, and Mifuyu visit the comatose Touka and Nemu in the Satomi Medical Center. Their physical bodies are fully healed, but their minds remain unresponsive. They encounter Tasuke, who is being hospitalized for a medical examination at his brother's insistence, which makes Nayuta distress. Mifuyu also reveals that Karin has gone missing inside the Endless Mirrors Labyrinth, and search efforts have so far failed.[14]
At the beach, Livia, Yozuru, and Sudachi find Mitama and Kanagi. The two Magical Girls are on the verge of becoming Witches, their souls entangled with grief after forcibly fusing it into themselves to resist the Kimochi Stone's control. They believe their return would only cause others pain, and Livia's team begins a dangerous Coordination procedure to save them.[14]
They first transmit the positive feelings and acceptance collected from the Magical Girls of Kamihama, which provides temporary relief. For a permanent cure, Livia decides they must contextualize Mitama and Kanagi's grief by showing them greater suffering. Livia begins to project her own traumatic past into their minds: her father's death, her abuse in an orphanage, her life as a runaway, her capture by human traffickers, and her eventual contract with Kyubey, where she wished to "become evil itself." The process shows signs of working, as the roots of grief binding Mitama and Kanagi begin to loosen.[14]
Livia concludes the projection of her memories to Mitama and Kanagi. She recounts her life after her wish: her return to society, her struggle with a personal magic that passively brings misfortune to those she helps, and the tragic death of her social worker, at her own wedding. This final catastrophe leads Livia to a revelation from Kyubey that Magical Girls exist to generate energy to sustain the universe. She decides to live solely for this purpose, believing it will redirect the misfortune caused by her magic toward Kyubey and the universe itself.[14]
Witnessing Livia's immense suffering provides Mitama and Kanagi with the perspective needed to contextualize their own grief. They resolve to "devour" their sorrows and use them as nourishment to move forward. This act of acceptance causes the Kimochi of Grief to manifest. Livia's team helps them subdue it. Mitama and Kanagi, now freed from their despair, return to Kamihama with the final Kimochi Stone.[14]
Iroha Tamaki meets with the leaders of the other factions—the Kamihama Magia Union, Promised Blood, the Tokime Clan, Folklore of Zero, and the Neo-Magius—to discuss the future. They all express a shared desire for a peaceful future without internal conflict. The arrival of Mitama and Kanagi with their Kimochi now completes the set of eight Kimochi Stones.[14]
All the factions gather at the neutral zone in Chuo Ward. Iroha and Ui, with the support of all the leaders, communicate their resolve to the assembled Kimochi, promising a gentle future and gaining their trust one by one. The Kimochi Stones empower Iroha and Ui to locate and enter the realm of the Automatic Purification System.[14]
Inside the Automatic Purification System, Iroha, Ui, the faction leaders, and Kagome enter the system's Labyrinth. They find it appears as a transparent version of the real world. Their goal is to reach the core and reconnect it to Iroha, Ui, and Lil' Kyubey to reclaim it from Kyubey.[14]
However, Kyubey reveals this was his plan all along. He'd allowed them to enter with the Kimochi Stones so he could fuse with the system's concept while Iroha controls the Kimochi's energy, granting him total control over both the system and the power of the Witch Eve. He seizes Iroha and Lil' Kyubey in Isolation Fields, rendering them unconscious.[14]
The faction leaders fight off Oscar Familiars generated by Kyubey while Ui senses that Iroha and the Kimochi have not given up. Iroha breaks free from Kyubey's control with the Kimochi's help, and despite Kyubey's warning that becoming the core could destroy her ego, Iroha, encouraged by the others, attempts to fuse with the core.[14]
In Endless Mirrors, Mikoto speaks to Alina, stating a cynical view that no one can be saved and that hope inevitably ends in despair.[14]
Karin ventures deeper into the Endless Mirrors Labyrinth to find Alina, finding it unnaturally empty. A copy of Kaede appears and informs Karin that the ruler of the Labyrinth has been waiting for her. The copy presents Karin with a choice to either return to her friends or proceed to meet Alina and Mikoto Sena.[14]
Karin chooses to find Alina and is taken to her, finding that she has allied with the spirit of Mikoto Sena. Alina reveals she has abandoned Karin's "Reformation Project" in favor of Mikoto's "Evolution Project," which aligns with her belief that humanity unconsciously desires destruction. Mikoto proposes a challenge: if Karin journeys with them through history and still believes in hope, she will return Alina. Karin agrees.[14]
Mikoto uses the mirrors to show Karin scenes from human history, each depicting cycles of destruction arising from malice, misguided goodwill, and systemic rejection, such as genocide, ritual sacrifice, religious wars, and gender-based conflict. She argues this proves hope inevitably turns to despair.[14]
Mikoto then shows a story from Kamihama's own past: the tale of the Battle Shamanesses, Tsuyu Mizuna of the West and Chizuru of the East. Initially, their alliance brings peace and hope, uniting the East and West, however, the distrust and ambition of their fathers shatter this peace. A supposed peace conference is a trap, leading to betrayal and battle, and in the ensuing chaos, Chizuru's father has Tsuyu's father killed. When Tsuyu and Chizuru attempt to stop the fighting with a display of combined power, a hidden gunman working for Chizuru's father mortally wounds Tsuyu. Consumed by grief and betrayal, Tsuyu becomes a Witch cursing the East, cementing a cycle of hatred that would plague Kamihama for centuries. Mikoto presents this as a local example of hope yielding to despair.[14]
Faced with this evidence, Karin counters that humanity is not purely destructive. She argues that the existence of hopeful stories in media and the current reunification of East and West in modern Kamihama prove that despair can also turn to hope. She asserts that human nature is a messy "gray," not destined for a single outcome. Alina finds this perspective amusing and novel.[14]
Mikoto, motivated by her personal grudge, is not convinced. She declares the current situation in Kamihama—specifically, Iroha's attempt to reclaim the Automatic Purification System—will serve as the ultimate experiment to determine whether hope ends in despair or despair ends in hope.[14]
At the Satomi Medical Center, Tasuke undergoes a medical examination at his brother's insistence. Tasuke confirms that the circumstances for Magical Girls are at a critical juncture, with the potential for them to be released from their destiny of becoming Witches. He reaffirms his intent to publish the truth about Magical Girls in his book, believing it is necessary for humanity to become kinder, and his brother now offers his support too.[14]
Within the Automatic Purification System's Labyrinth, Iroha's group witnesses all the Magical Girls outside the Labyrinth collapse simultaneously into unconscious, pained states, on the verge of becoming Witches. Kyubey also confirms the scene is real and not an illusion. Himena recognizes the phenomenon as identical to the nightmare-inducing trap she created but insists she had destroyed the device.[14]
The group deduces that the only way to save the Magical Girls in time is to reclaim the Automatic Purification System so they can summon Doppels instead of becoming Witches. However, Kyubey reveals he has hidden the system's core, forcing them to choose between searching for it or attempting to aid the dying Magical Girls directly.[14]
Iroha attempts to use her connection to Ui, the Kimochi, and Lil' Kyubey to locate the core, but the Kimochi reject her. The Kimochi Stones transfer to Lavi, whose feelings of resignation and despair now align with theirs. Believing that any attempt to reveal Magical Girls to the world will be met with catastrophic retaliation from the universe, Lavi gains a new form and declares her new goal: to seize the Automatic Purification System and peacefully "save" all Magical Girls by euthanizing them before they can experience despair.[14]
A battle ensues between Lavi, empowered by all eight Kimochi, and the faction leaders. Yuna, Shizuka, and Himena are swiftly defeated but succeed in protecting Iroha, Ui, and Lil' Kyubey. Iroha heals the leaders, and they resolve to face Lavi together.[14]
They catch up to Lavi in the Hokuyo Ward area of the Labyrinth. After another failed direct assault, Himena uses her personal magic to synthesize the magic from the unconscious girls to momentarily incapacitate Lavi. She uses:
Nayuta's magic, to make Lavi lose the will to fight.[14]
Mikage's Physical Collapse magic to make her body falter.[14]
Alexandra's relaxation magic to calm her down.[14]
Iroha, Ui, and Lil' Kyubey use this opening to physically connect with her, entering a state of shared consciousness.[14]
Inside Lavi's heart, Iroha challenges her resignation, arguing that those who have truly given up do not fight like she is. She asserts that Lavi's desire to "save" Magical Girls through euthanasia proves she still holds a fragment of hope. Confronted with this and memories of her friends, Lavi admits she does not want to give up. This emotional shift causes the Kimochi to violently rebel against her.[14]
Lavi offers Iroha the Kimochi, challenging her to subdue them with her feelings as a final test of whether hope can prevail. Iroha, with Ui and Lil' Kyubey's support, accepts the Kimochi. She endures their torment and convinces them that Magical Girls are not yet defeated. The Kimochi cease their resistance and fully synchronize with Iroha. The connection ends, and the Kimochi Stones return to Iroha's bracelet.[14]
Lavi, now freed, apologizes and vows to work for a future where Magical Girls can live. The group reunites with the goal of taking back the Automatic Purification System. Ui, reflecting on Lavi's fears and the cryptic hypothesis from Touka and Nemu, comes to a realization. She concludes that even if Iroha reclaims the system, it may not be a complete solution. Resolving to ensure their success, Ui decides she must become the core of the Automatic Purification System herself.[14]
Iroha, Ui, and Lavi confront Kyubey at the core, with Ui declaring she fully intends to become the new core of the system. However, Kyubey reveals he has achieved complete control over it. He explains that because all Kyubey bodies share a single consciousness, defeating the one fused with the core is meaningless; they would need to eliminate every Kyubey in the universe to sever his control, which is impossible. He also states he can now command the Kimochi Stones once they're released they are released.[14]
Ui's attempt to attack the core Kyubey fails, as another body immediately replaces it. Faced with this impossible situation, Iroha and Lavi see no way to win.[14]
In the Endless Mirrors Labyrinth, Alina prepares to give the spirit of Mikoto to the incomplete Mirror Witch as a "gift," which will allow Mikoto to become whole and enact her plan for ultimate destruction. Karin protests, but Alina makes a promise: if Mikoto succeeds in destroying Kamihama, Alina will believe humanity's future is despair and continue to pursue destruction. If Mikoto fails, Alina will believe in a future of happiness and follow Karin's "Reformation Project." Alina then sends Karin away and proceeds with Mikoto's plan.[14]
Within the Automatic Purification System, as hope seems lost, Kagome finally resolves to make a contract. She wishes for "the power to make Kyubey and his kind unable to interfere with the Automatic Purification System forever." Her wish is granted, and she becomes a Magical Girl, now causing even Aru to manifest and speak with her directly.[14]
Empowered by her wish, Kagome forces Kyubey's influence out of the Automatic Purification System. Kagome and Aru fly over Kamihama City, using her new magic to systematically locate and eliminate Kyubey's bodies within the city with her leaves.[14]
As Kagome's wish takes effect, Mikoto leads Alina towards the center of Endless Mirrors, where she is to give Mikoto's persona to the Witch, and Mikoto will then bring forth ultimate destruction.[14]
Kagome removes all of Kyubey from Kamihama and completely severs his ability to disrupt the purification system. Ui prepares to restore the Automatic Purification System to gather impurities from unconscious Magical Girls before they turn into Witches, making Doppels possible again. Iroha states that even the hypothetical "Will of the Universe" cannot stand against them, as Magical Girls sustain the universe.[16]
Inside the Endless Mirrors, Alina and Mikoto find the incomplete Mirrors Witch, which, lacking a persona, knew nothing but fear and to tremble. Alina follows Mikoto's instructions and places her hand on the empty Winchester, transferring Mikoto's persona to the Witch. Mikoto and the Mirrors Witch, now one, awakens fully and happily declares that she will no longer have to see the faces of those who mourn.[16]
Livia, Yozuru, and others arrive to Iroha's location with the hurt faction leaders and the necessary Grief Seeds to help them. Despite their injuries, Yuna and Shizuka urge Iroha to prioritize activating the system.[16]
Iroha, Ui, and Lil' Kyubey unite to channel the energy from the Kimochi Stones and spread the Automatic Purification System's barrier worldwide. However, their attempt is blocked by a powerful Witch, quickly identified by Lavi and Iroha as originating from the Endless Mirrors. Kyubey also appears and confirms the Witch's interference is to blame, even allowing him to bypass the recently established barrier of the purification system.[16]
Familiars from Endless Mirrors appear and target Ui specifically. Livia, Lavi, and the others defend her while Iroha performs emergency healing on the injured Yuna and Shizuka. Kagome also arrives, having redirected herself after jumping skyward after her contract.[16]
The group confirms the Mirror Witch has engulfed Kamihama City in its Labyrinth, disabling the Automatic Purification System's barrier. Kagome then realizes she may have inadvertently triggered the Witch's attack; in the past, she signed a mysterious oath with an Endless Mirrors Familiar to "destroy all Magical Girls." Kyubey states that by breaking this oath and becoming a Magical Girl herself, Kagome gave the Witch an opportunity to act. However, Iroha rejects Kyubey's attempt to place blame on Kagome and reaffirms their goal to defeat the Witch. Iroha, Ui, and the Lil' Kyubey attempt to fuse again to channel the Kimochi Stones' power to reactivate the system.[16]
Timeline A
However, suddenly Lil' Kyubey is killed with one of Iroha's arrows.[16]
A copy of Iroha declares she killed Lil' Kyubey, and the group kill her.[16]
As they're mourning, Karin arrives and reveals Alina and Mikoto Sena are responsible for the Mirror Witch's attack. She explains that merging Mikoto's persona with the Witch completed its form, and its goal is to create a time paradox to annihilate the universe. Kyubey also confirms that a paradox would destroy the world. Lavi urges Iroha and Ui to fight, and they resolve to create a miracle.[16]
At Satomi Medical Center, Touka's father notes several unconscious girls, including Mitsune and Konomi.[16]
The group devises a plan to destroy all the small mirrors to break the barrier around a large central mirror, which they believe contains the Witch. They split into teams and use the power of the Kimochi Stones, with the recipients being Iroha, Ui, Kagome, Shizuka, Yuna, Himena, Lavi, and Livia.[16]
Karin declines to join the teams, stating she has a personal task. Kagome uses her magic and Aru's clones to gather information and track enemies. The teams destroy mirrors through the night, as they identify Mirror copies by testing magical signatures and personal knowledge about the girls.[16]
Himena, blaming herself for the unconscious Magical Girls, resolves to go to the Puella Care caravan and use her unique magic to synthesize the powers of seven specific girls: Hotori Yuzuki, Rion Yuzuki, Yuuna Kaharu, Meguru Hibiki, Ashley Taylor, Sasara Minagi, and Hikaru Kirari, even though it risks her life.[16]
Iroha and Ui save Himena from Familiars, allowing her to focus on the synthesis. Himena retrieves the seven magics and transfers Meguru's "live commentary" magic to Iroha. She instructs Iroha to use it to power up both allies and enemies as part of her strategy.[16]
Livia, Yozuru, and Sudachi find the original Labyrinth at the Mirrors Manor destroyed. They see copies recycling energy toward the giant mirror and destroy a Familiar that was about to become a Witch. Livia theorizes the giant mirror may not be the Witch's true location.[16]
Iroha begins her live commentary. Himena uses the synthesized magic in sequence: Hotori's "heroic introduction" to stun her enemies, Rion's "binding" to lock their movements, and Yuuna's "submission" to pacify them.[16]
However, Iroha's commentary strengthens the Witches, allowing them to break free. Himena uses Sasara's "provoke" and Hikaru's "devotion" to face them, then uses Ashley's "switch" magic to turn the Witches' amplified power against themselves, destroying the barrier mirrors but greatly exhausting herself.[16]
Kagome notes the Familiars show no distress and Lavi reports a second barrier is in place. Yozuru's team reports that energy is being funneled into the giant mirror, theorizing it is the weapon intended to cause the paradox. An Aru clone relays to Lavi that the Mirror Witch's true plan is to travel to the past to prevent human evolution, erasing humanity, which Kyubey also confirms. Lavi entrusts Karin with delivering the Aru clone, which holds this intelligence, back to the main group.[16]
The group splits: Shizuka, Himena, and Yuna will assault the mirror; Iroha and Ui will stay behind, with Iroha healing the sleeping girls and Ui gathering energy for a final attack; Kagome is sent to retrieve Touka and Nemu from the hospital.[16]
Sakurako arrives at the hospital to get Touka and Nemu, and Tasuke and Touka's father help her transport them to a car.[16]
Livia, Yozuru, Sudachi, and Lavi infiltrate the enemy ranks using Livia's Coordination magic. They confront copies of Livia and Lavi who command the energy delivery. Both Livia and Lavi fail to interrogate their copies and are forced to defeat their copies. However, their emotional outbursts alert the Familiars, nullifying their disguises.[16]
Iroha heals the unconscious girls but is forced to experience their nightmares of dystopian futures where Magical Girls are persecuted. As Iroha experiences more nightmares, Karin and Ui snap her out of it, and Karin leaves to help Kagome.[16]
Yuna, Shizuka, and Himena arrive to save the overwhelmed Livia and Lavi. Their joined team shatters the final barrier around the giant mirror.[16]
Iroha and Ui prepare to destroy the mirror. Ui gathers energy from the shattered mirrors, and Iroha plans to combine it with Touka and Nemu's magic.[16]
Sakurako and Kagome fight Familiars ambushing the transport car and the car explodes. Tasuke and Touka's father are mortally wounded but protected the girls' Soul Gems. As Tasuke and Touka's father die, Tasuke gives Kagome a pen for Nayuta, and Sakurako and Kagome continue with taking Touka and Nemu to Iroha.[16]
With the barrier reforming, Iroha and Ui combine their powers without Touka and Nemu. Iroha fires the gathered energy at the giant mirror and destroys it.[16]
Kagome and Sakurako arrive too late for the attack, revealing the deaths of Tasuke and Touka's father.[16]
Suddenly, as Ui starts to gether more energy, the spectral hand of the Mirror Witch appears, seizes Ui's Soul Gem and disappears. Simultaneously, Sakurako, whose existence is tied to Ui, Touka, and Nemu, vanishes. Iroha deduces that this means that Ui is really dead.[16]
Kyubey informs the others that the Mirror Witch has taken control of the Automatic Purification System, before he deactivates. Iroha falls into despair over Ui's death. Kagome comforts her, and Iroha resolves to move forward to honor Ui's memory and their bonds.[16]
Lavi, Shizuka, Yuna, Himena, and Livia arrive. The group acknowledges their catastrophic situation and comforts Iroha.[16]
Yozuru, Sudachi, and Karin arrive. Yozuru reports they turned the copies of Riko and Mikage to their side. Karin reveals she stole a hand mirror from a Familiar, which the copies identify as a device that can travel to the recent past. Iroha proposes using the mirror to go back to when Ui and Lil' Kyubey were alive to save them. The group agrees and moves to Hokuyo Ward where they attempted the fusion.[16]
Iroha senses the Witch growing stronger by absorbing energy from Magical Girls turning into Witches as disasters erupt across Kamihama. Alina stops the group and takes Karin, stating she will observe. Karin gives Iroha the hand mirror. Alina reflects on her past and her artistic philosophy.[16]
The group encounters a horde of Magical Girls subsumed by their Doppels. Shizuka, Yuna, Himena, and Lavi stay behind to hold them off, urging Iroha, Kagome, Livia, Yozuru, and Sudachi to go on.[16]
Yuna, Shizuka, Himena, and Lavi perish in the battle. Their spirits bequeath their power to Yachiyo through her unique magic. Yachiyo uses this power to share strength with Tsuruno, Felicia, and Sana, freeing them temporarily.[16]
At the system entrance, Livia, Yozuru, and Sudachi betray Iroha and seize the hand mirror, declaring their allegiance to the Witch. However, Livia's group was faking the betrayal to draw the Witch's attack through Livia's unique magic. They sacrifice themselves to absorb the fatal blow meant for Iroha.[16]
Iroha and Kagome are besieged by the horde, but Yachiyo, Tsuruno, Felicia, and Sana arrive and hold them back, urging Iroha to take their hope into the future.[16]
The Riko and Mikage copies set up the hand mirror. Touka and Nemu contact Iroha telepathically, warning that retrieving Ui and Lil' Kyubey would create a paradox. They propose sending a record of their experiences back instead. Aru produces a leaf with the record.[16]
The magic sustaining the copies breaks with Yozuru and Sudachi's deaths. The Riko and Mikage copies revert, destroying the hand mirror. Iroha is left with no options and prays for a happy future. The leaf glows and disappears.[16]
Alina declares the scene to be fine art. Karin resolves to fight, and Alina joins her, naming Karin a "Brilliant Girl" and declaring the final battle begun.[16]
A leaf imbued with Kagome's magic appears before Iroha and Ui, transmitting a vision of the future timeline showing Lil' Kyubey's death, the sacrifices of their friends, and Iroha's despair. They comprehend the message as a record from the previous timeline, and Iroha realizes a copy of herself kills Lil' Kyubey, and the group resolves to change the future.[16]
The faction leaders defend Lil' Kyubey and Ui to prevent the catastrophic future, and Iroha, Ui, and Lil' Kyubey successfully fuse together into Infinite Iroha. Iroha thanks the others for handling the Mirror copies. Ui's form appears ghostly, with Lil' Kyubey acting as their link. The group resolves to assault the Mirrors Mansion, when Touka and Nemu appear, reuniting with Iroha and Ui. They explain they transformed into Uwasa Queens to evade the Will of the Universe, lying dormant until Iroha gathered the Kimochi Stones and Ui recaptured the Automatic Purification System. They now operate by parasitizing Iroha and Ui's magic.[16]
The Mirror Witch's forces retreat toward the Puella Care trailer, and Touka and Nemu deduce the Witch anticipates their strategy, which requires the power of the sleeping Magical Girls. Iroha expands her wings to transport the group there at high speed. Upon arrival, Touka and Nemu announce they will transform all the sleeping Magical Girls into Uwasa to liberate them from their nightmares and permanently prevent them from becoming Witches. Iroha instructs Kagome to share the memories with everyone upon awakening, and Touka and Nemu activate their power.[16]
As the girls awaken in their Uwasa forms, Mirror Witch offshoots advance on the group. As all the girls have awakened, the newly awakened Rumor Magical Girls reunite with their factions, while Livia announces her group will fight the Witch separately. Yachiyo confirms everyone understands the situation thanks to Kagome's shared memories and Iroha rallies the coalition to enter the Mirrors Mansion and stop the Witch from altering the past.[16]
The coalition fights to stem the invasion of Familiars and copies, and Touka and Nemu forge the collective magic into a single arrow for Iroha to use. Iroha strikes first, addressing the Witch and Mikoto directly, and her attack causes the Mirror Witch's Labyrinth to manifest around them. Magical Girls report sensations of their bodies being cut apart and an intense gravitational force immobilizes most of the coalition. Initial attacks prove ineffective, and they notice an invisible barrier that blocks strikes and drains magic. Iroha instructs Touka to convert the Witch's own magic, making the invisible defense visible as shards of glass. She then instructs everyone to target and destroy the shards to weaken the Witch and launch a counteroffensive.[16]
The Witch's defensive barrier breaks, and the Witch's true form is revealed as Winchester. Iroha announces a plan to gather the Witch's magic and power from beyond the Mirrors for a final attack, and the coalition divides to target the Witch's limbs, with the factions each attacking one of the four limbs, while the Magia Union, led by Yachiyo, prepares to confront the Witch's main head.[16]
Offshoot Witches appear to guard the limbs. Touka and Nemu instruct Kagome to use her Interview Records, infusing the coalition with the magic of numerous Magical Girls to strengthen them for the assault. Each group successfully immobilizes their respective limb after being powered up by their Interview Records.[16]
Yachiyo confirms all groups have bound the Witch's limbs and orders the Union to contain the main body until Iroha is ready. As the Witch attacks Iroha, Alina intervenes and saves her by engulfing Iroha into her own Labyrinth. Alina pledges to protect Iroha to witness humanity's defiance, as she now realizes she finds life struggling against death to be the answer she was looking for. Iroha accepts Karin and Alina's alliance and resolves to erase the Witch's curse with her team.[16]
Iroha confronts Mikoto Sena's self directly, who believes Magical Girls are inherently tragic despite what Iroha claims. Mikoto's memories begin to fragment and she attacks Iroha again.[16]
The initial assault by Iroha, Ui, Touka, and Nemu fails to defeat the Witch, leaving them drained and vulnerable. As the Witch prepares another attack, the Uwasa of the Wind Evangelist reveals she's travelled through the Mirror Labyrinths to summon help. Magical Girls from countless other timelines and universes begin to arrive through the Mirrors to aid in the battle. Now several Magical Girls from different points in time and space fight the Mirror Witch through the mirrors it formed to cause paradoxes.[16] Among others, the girls in the fight include:
Oriko Mikuni and Kirika Kure from present-day Mitakihara. It is likely that Oriko, having seen visions of the Mirror Witch, had also somewhat organized and lead this attack.[16]
Iroha instructs Kagome to coordinate the allies and Touka declares they must destroy the crossing Mirrors after the Witch's defeat to erase the paradoxes. Mikoto summons a horde of Familiars and Witches from her mirrors and Rena, Momoko, and Kaede lead the defense against them.[16]
Alina intervenes again to protect Iroha from Mikoto's attacks, and Touka, Ui, and Nemu gather and channel energy from the multiversal Magical Girls. Shizuka, Yuna, Himena, and Lavi announce the defeat of Mikoto's Familiar army. Iroha delivers the final declaration and unleashes the collective hope of all Magical Girls as their final attack.[16]
Iroha confronts the true nature of the Mirror Witch, a fusion of Mikoto and countless other Magical Girls from across history who succumbed to despair, including Chizuru. Iroha vows to use present hope to rewrite this history of despair, and in the conflict, Mikoto urges Iroha to show her the hope she speaks of. The Mirror Witch then merges with Iroha, transferring its entire history of curses and sorrow into her. Iroha witnesses the vast tapestry of Magical Girl suffering across time and space. She also sees the pivotal moment in her own life: in nearly every other timeline, she died in a car accident. Her survival was a fluke caused by an unintentional act of time travel from another Magical Girl. This reveals her unique magic is not healing, but instead the power to rewind time for a target.[16]
The Mirror Witch and all the mirrors disappear. Iroha announces that as part of the miracle she promised Mikoto, she will rewind every Magical Girl transformed into an Uwasa back into their original forms and fully establish the Automatic Purification System. Her friends recognize the danger and protest, but Iroha insists on this path despite the fact that overuse of her magic will be too much and erase Iroha's very existence.[16]
One by one, the leaders, members of the various factions, and her close friends all thank her and bid her a tearful farewell as she disappears, promising to protect the future she created and await her return. As Iroha's physical form begins to fade and she loses the ability to speak or be seen, she shares a final, private moment with Ui, Touka, and Nemu, who join her. They resolve to use the vast energy now at their disposal to expand the Automatic Purification System across the world as the first step toward creating a kinder world for Magical Girls and all people.[16]
In the Labyrinth of the Doppel System, high above Earth, Iroha, Ui, Lil' Kyubey, Touka, Nemu, Sakurako, and Mikoto watch over the world as the curses of the Mirror Witch finally subside, having demonstrated her ultimate miracle and secured a hopeful future for Magical Girls all around the globe.[16]
Epilogue
Kagome narrates that the Automatic Purification System spread worldwide, and Magical Girls were saved from their fate. Iroha, Ui, Touka, and Nemu disappeared from general memory, recalled only very vaguely by most people, though Magical Girls remember them clearly.[16]
Kagome visits Karin at Sakae Academy to discuss the disappearance of Alina. Karin reveals that Alina has dropped out of school and left the country to fulfill a promise to her, referencing the plan to reform. Alina sends Karin a message from her destination, challenging her to create "antidote" art to counter Alina's own "poison." The message includes a video titled "The Sun...?" which shows a giant LED light in a forest at night, a scene Karin identifies as a battlefield.[16]
The group known as Folklore of Zero has effectively disbanded, with its members now acting as a circle of close friends who have effectively joined different factions. Kagome is also in the process of writing a book to document the events of the Kamihama Magical Girls and the final battle, presumably Puella Magi Diarium.[16]
Kagome visits Nayuta's house to discuss the book's structure. She finds Lavi performing housework and Professor Tasuke, who has forgotten Iroha, present for a memory-refreshing session. Mikage arrives and aggressively questions Kagome about when the book and the truth about Magical Girls will be made public. Tasuke and Kagome explain the book requires significant revision and a carefully considered narrative structure. Tasuke outlines a long-term strategy to reveal the truth, comparing it to the gradual spread of folklore or the step-by-step process of an introductory text. He estimates it will take ten to twenty years for the full story of the Magical Girls to be delivered to the public.[16]
Kagome observes the Neo-Magius and their Feathers in a state of frantic activity. They are searching for and destroying evidence related to a construction incident where the main hall's ceiling collapsed, for which they accept responsibility. Himena explains that she and Hiko created a lecture series to help the Feathers discover their positive qualities and boost their self-esteem. The initiative has shown success, with members like Hagumu feeling more valued for her skills in clothing and acting. However, Miyuri's fixation on photographing legs remains a problematic, unpraiseworthy behavior. Alexandra also informs Himena she will be unavailable to help with a future class, as she will be in Yukuni City with Lavi and other members of the former Folklore of Zero.[16]
Kagome observes the Tokime Clan in a state of excited chaos as they plan a visit to Minaminagi Park. Ryouko teases Shizuka with exaggerated descriptions of theme park rides, which alarms her. Sunao apologizes for the noise and confirms the group plans to visit the park for fun before returning to Tokime Village, and that Sunao has marked every concession stand on a park map. Asahi practices with a marksmanship tool that Chika suggests will be useful for her work as a nature guide. Shizuka reveals that the current meeting is a rehearsal for their actual trip the following day, demonstrating their high level of enthusiasm for the outing.[16]
While some members of Promised Blood who held a strong hatred for Kamihama's Magical Girls never change their mind, others develop a sense of camaraderie through their past battles and visit the city on occasion. Kagome encounters Yuna in Kamihama, who explains she is chaperoning Ao and Ranka, not meeting with the Union. Yuna appears more tired than before, despite having fewer responsibilities. Hikaru and Juri are present and their outings often involve trouble, which has resulted in them breaking a boxing arcade machine. Ao and Ranka are engaged in a competitive video game tournament and their strategy is to win tickets to a future tournament with free accommodations, which Ao hopes will serve as a family trip for the group. Yuna, encouraged by the idea, cheers them on and Ao almost calls Yuna "Mom" before catching herself.[16]
The three members of Puella Care prepare to leave Kamihama City to help Magical Girls in other regions as part of their journey to redemption. Kyubey goes with them, as Livia insists on living for his mission rather than for the universe. Mitama and Kanagi choose to remain in Kamihama to maintain the student conference and support their many friends.[16]
Sometime later, a sense of peace and gratitude for Iroha's actions settles over the Magical Girls, though a feeling of loneliness for the lost friends remains. The girls frequently gather under the Eternal Sakura tree, where they sense a flow of magical impurities being purified and feel Iroha's presence.[16]
One day, Yachiyo, Momoko, Rena, Kaede, Tsuruno, Sana, and Felicia hold a picnic under the Eternal Sakura. They feel a strong connection to Iroha and Ui, who communicate with them briefly. Iroha explains that she, Ui, Touka, and Nemu are busy managing the records of Magical Girls from the past but will reunite with everyone someday. Iroha states that the place where the records are gathered is called the "Magia Record," and that the future publication of Kagome's book about Magical Girls may one day guide them all back together.[16]
