History
Chapter 1
Kyoko brings out her Soul Gem, covered in photo stickers featuring her and Yuma, that were stuck onto it by Yuma.
Chapter 2
When contemplating seeking marriage, Mami notes she wouldn't be able to continue her current lifestyle, imagining Kyoko carrying Yuma and complaining about her daughter getting heavier.
Chapter 6
Kyoko, Madoka and Yuma come over to Mami's house on her invitation. Although everyone in the room can see Kyubey, Yuma is the only one capable of hearing him. She plays with him briefly, before he offers a contract. Yuma asks Kyoko if she can do it, stating she'd like to become a Magical Girl so she can spend more time with her mother. Upon hearing this, Kyoko breaks a plate and attacks Kyubey in anger, preventing Yuma from becoming a Magical Girl. After she calms down, she hugs Yuma, apologizing and promising to spend more time with her by making sure she only works part-time.
Chapter 7
Mami wins too many cherries for her to eat in a lottery, which leads her to call Sayaka and Kyoko to take them. When the two express concern over the cherries' price, Mami lies that she got them as a gift from her nonexistent boyfriend's mother. Kyoko states this will allow Yuma to have healthier meals. As a "thank you", Kyoko gives Mami a bag of potatoes she and Yuma picked during a daycare trip.
Chapter 9
Mami decides to go to the cinema to watch a sequel to a foreign movie she saw 20 years earlier, but due to a mistake, she has to wait 2 hours until the viewing. She bumps into Kyoko, Sayaka and Yuma, who went to watch Puri-Kirara (プリキララ)[Note 2], an anime movie popular with girls. Although the two women are displeased with the movie, Yuma immediately notices a purse based on the series, and begs her mother to buy it.
Chapter 15
Mami bumps into Nagisa, now a fresh graduate and an adult joining the workforce, at a donut place. Afterwards, they go to Robbins-Baskin[Note 3]. After eating a few servings of their cheesecake-flavored sundaes, Kyoko and Yuma appear. Yuma recognizes Nagisa, who then asks her how old she is - Yuma replies she is 5 years old, and about to turn 6, and mentions she's starting to learn how to read. She also says she'd like to get married and have children soon. Kyoko explains to her daughter that her time will come once she's closer to Nagisa's age, but that it's also possible to live in a less committed relationship without children for longer like Mami, to Mami's embarrassment. Yuma asks for ice cream, before she and her mother leave.
Chapter 15.5
Kyoko rushes to Kazamino Daycare still in her work uniform, as due to a high workload, she wasn't able to pick Yuma up on time. Yuma hugs Kyoko so hard the latter retches, and shows her mother drawings she made - of herself, a field of flowers, a mustache monster, and a cat-like creature named "Yousei Yuri-chan", along with her practicing writing words "cheese", "apple", "pumpkin" and "watermelon"[Note 4] in hiragana. At home, the two of them share a meal, and Yuma asks Kyoko when her father will be back, with Kyoko deflecting by saying he was needed at work on Kyushu. Yuma proclaims she'll surprise him by jumping out of her futon at him. After eating, Kyoko dries Yuma's hair, and Yuma mentions she heard from a friend at the daycare that a new donut shop opened in the neighbourhood. Kyoko looks it up on her phone, and realizes the donuts cost about 400 yen, or about half an hour's worth of her salary. Kyoko suggests they should have 100 yen donuts from another shop. Kyoko falls asleep on the couch, to her daughter's exasperation.
Walking outside, Kyoko states they won't be able to have donuts today, and suggests Yuma should pick something else. She exclaims she'd like a little brother, but Kyoko explains they cannot be bought like pets and that she wouldn't be able to afford one, anyway, and tries to describe where children come from, before changing topic and offering Yuma to pick something from the food court. There, they bump into Mami and Nagisa - now showing the scene from Chapter 15 from Kyoko's, rather than Mami's, point of view. In the meanwhile, Kyoko reminisces about her guilt regarding her late family, and thinks to herself she had Yuma because she wanted to have a family again, even if adjusting to a new lifestyle and expenses would be difficult. Flashbacks coming to an end, Yuma says she wants the same as what Nagisa had moments ago. Kyoko tries to order, but is informed they ran out due to the "white-haired demon". Yuma feels somewhat sad, but her mother orders her a different flavor. They come to the donut shop again, and, seeing a huge line, Yuma offers she can play by herself and that Kyoko should stand on her own, without worrying about her, as she's worried she might be a nuisance due to Kyoko saying recently that having children doesn't let parents do things as freely as before. Kyoko assures her she's not, which confuses Yuma. Despite not standing in line, Kyoko presents Yuma with a bag of donuts, which Yuma comes to believe are thanks to her father. Kyoko thanks someone off-screen for standing in the line.
Chapter 22
Mami contacts the rest of Holy Quintet asking if they would be available for Golden Week. None of them are, with Kyoko in specific stating she's going to be working part-time most of the week, and the remaining 2 free days would be for going clam-digging with Yuma.
Chapter 29
Kyoko visits Mami at her home. Kyoko mentions Yuma is taking a cold bath right now due to the summer heat, and that her husband is watching over their daughter. Yuma can be seen playing with toy fishes in the bath.
Chapter 55
Similarly to chapter 22, Mami texts the rest of the Quintet to ask if they would be free for Golden Week. Once again, Kyoko in particular states she only has 2 days free due to work, and that she spent today, one of the free days, by going to the cinema with Yuma.
Chapter 98
Mami bumps into Kyoko on the street. Kyoko has just obtained a school backpack for Yuma, who is now 6 years old and about to start elementary school, Mami congratulates her. The two of them comment on passage of time and speed of children's growth. Mami asks if the backpack is all, but Kyoko says she also has to write her daughter's name in hiragana, Sakura Yuma (さくらゆま), over and over again on other necessities. After a bit more discussion, Mami gifts Kyoko a box of cookies, and they part ways. Later, Kyoko sends Mami a video of Yuma reading out a "thank you" note regarding Mami's congratulation.
Trivia
- This Yuma bears significant similarity to Yuma Chitose.
- In chapter 6, when Kyubey tells Yuma she has the potential to become a Magical Girl, a flashback of Yuma Chitose's Magical Girl form appears. Kyubey also says he didn't expect Yuma to be Kyoko's daughter.
- Yuma refers to Mami as oba-chan (おばちゃん).
- Kyoko keeps multiple items covered in photo stickers of herself and Yuma, including her Soul Gem (as seen in chapter 1) and smartphone (as seen in chapter 15.5).
Notes
- ↑ Surname uncertain - "Sakura" is stated to be her mother's previous surname in chapter 1, but during chapter 98, Yuma's hiragana surname spelling is confirmed to be さくら. It is unclear whether this is an error or intentional.
- ↑ Likely a reference to PreCure (プリキュア Purikyua), a magical girl anime series aimed at young girls, and Manga Time Kirara, the magazine group in which Mami Tomoe's Mundane Everyday Life was published.
- ↑ A parody of Baskin-Robbins
- ↑ With an exception for "watermelon", all items directly reference the Cake Song
