This section may contain major spoilers for the Kazumi Magica manga!
Please refrain from reading if you haven't read the latest chapter yet.The witches of Kazumi Magica. They come in two varieties: witches that are the same as the one that appear in the anime, and "pseudo-witches", which are imitation witches, as the name implies.
Pseudo-Witches
"Pseudo-witches" are a type of witch unique to the Kazumi Magica manga. They are actually human women that are implanted with an imitation Grief Seed called an "Evil Nut". When they are defeated, the Evil Nut separates from the woman, much like when a witch drops a Grief Seed. Unlike regular witches, the women return to normal after they are defeated. They appear to lose their memory of the events that occurred while they are under the Evil Nut's influence, similar to those affected by a Witch's Kiss.
Preying Mantis Witch
This is an unnamed witch appearing in chapter 1 of Puella Magi Kazumi Magica.
|
A pseudo-witch that Yuuri created from a policewoman named Misako Ishijima, who wanted to be successful in her male-dominated job. She blackmailed Souichirou Tachibana into making a bomb threat at a mall, but was foiled when Kazumi defused it via magic. She later attempted to kill Kazumi, but was defeated by her instead.

Cosmetics Witch
This is an unnamed witch appearing in chapter 2 of Puella Magi Kazumi Magica.
|
A pseudo-witch that Yuuri created from a cosmetics saleswoman named Kyouka Shida, who protested the sale and use of cheap, unhealthy cosmetics. She attempted to attack a ganguro concert, but was defeated by Kazumi, Umika and Kaoru.

"Prologue"
"Prologue" is a witch appearing in chapter 3 of Puella Magi Kazumi Magica.

The witch's minion. Bookmark humans. |
A witch fought by the Pleiades Saints in chapter 3. It captured Umika and Kaoru. The other five Saints tracked it down after discovering that its barrier moved around on the same schedule as the Asunaro Library's bookmobile. Kazumi killed it with a precision strike from outside the barrier after the other Saints signalled her.
Trivia and Speculation
- This witch was designed as a drawing found in children's picture books, according to Takashi Tensugi.
- "Prologue" may not be the witch's real name - the translation of the design notes refer to the Chapter 3 witch as "Callsign 'Prologue'", suggesting Prologue may be a design nickname.

Nie Blühen Herzen
"Nie Blühen Herzen" is the witch form of "Yuuri" (Airi Anri), and appears in chapter 5 and 6 of Puella Magi Kazumi Magica.

Minions
|
Yuuri/Airi's witch form resembles a giant heart, which may have certain implications. The rings on Yuuri's weaponry also appear on the witch.
When Kazumi attempts to turn Yuuri back to a human, it causes Yuuri's body to rise out from the witch, while still being connected to it. She appears to have almost no sense of self left, continuously repeating the last spell she used on Kazumi. Notably, her speech bubbles use the runic language. It was defeated by the Pleiades Saints.
Trivia and Speculation
- In volume 2's design notes, the witch is described thusly (by the illustrator, Takashi Tensugi): "A wounding heart and a wounded heart. Her defibrillators resemble twintails. Her image is based on sickly Airi, who lingered on and was revived. Her familiars are flower bulbs. Did she think of herself as being rooted to the hospital? Attribute: Self-rejection. Weak point: Poison in medicine. Her cries of 'pchh pchh' are the angry pulsing of her blood vessels."
- Her name was provided by Masaki Hiramatsu, the writer of Kazumi Magica. It means, "never blooming hearts," in German.

Arzt Kochen
"Arzt Kochen" is the witch form of Yuuri Asuka, and appears in chapter 5 of Puella Magi Kazumi Magica.

Minions
|
Yuuri Asuka's witch form resembles a giant hypodermic needle, similar to her weapon as a Puella Magi. Giant forks come out of her body, which probably refers to either Yuuri's cooking talents or transforming into a witch during a cooking contest. The forks also contrast with the spoon amulet she carried, acting as a sort of evil counterpart; in fact, when the witch drops Yuuri's amulet, it possesses a dark fork in the handle in the opposite direction of the spoon (which then vanishes as the last part of Yuuri's witch form). It was defeated by the Pleiades Saints.
Trivia and Speculation
- In volume 2's design notes, the witch is described thusly (by the illustrator, Takashi Tensugi): "After shoving anesthetic into the humans who enter her barrier, she cuts out their injured parts and completely cooks them. However, there are no humans who can endure this surgery. There is nothing that she can save. Her familiars are forks. Attribute: (Excessive) devotion. Weakness: Things that have no need for her. Her cries(?) of 'pssh pssh' are the sound of her syringes and forks."
- Her name was provided by Masaki Hiramatsu, the writer of Kazumi Magica. It means, "cooking doctor," in German.

Spare Nico's Witch Form
This is an unnamed witch appearing in chapters 8 and 9 of Puella Magi Kazumi Magica.
|
The witch form of Nico Kanna's "spare." Its form is that of a shooting gallery dummy, with target circles spiraling outward from its forehead. The forehead has a large hole that extends to the back of the head, like a bullet hole. Its arms are giant blades that are used like scissors, and it has no lower body or legs. It was defeated by Mirai Wakaba.
Trivia and Speculation
- In Chapter 7 Nico is reading an article about a Japanese kid shooting people in California. The appearance of the witch suggests some sort of connection.
- This theory was proven correct. In Chapter 10, it is revealed that when she was a kid she accidentally killed her friends with a gun and injured herself in the process.
- Notably, the Grief Seed for the witch does not have the same emblem as Nico's Soul Gem - Nico's Soul Gem is a hexagon, while the witch's Grief Seed is a diamond.
- Many small shooting-gallery targets, possibly her minions, float around in the witch's barrier.

- The eel-like part of the witch deflates and shrivels up when shot by the Pleiades.
- The jellyfish on top then reinflates it like a balloon, possibly as part of a symbiotic relationship.
