The game is set in the same background as that of the TV anime and some of the character relationships are connected. The player adopts the perspective of a magical girl who is found unconscious in [[Mitakihara Town]] by the five main anime characters.
 
== Gameplay ==
It features the magical girl cast from the anime and four new magical girls to defeat witches and [[Walpurgis_Night|Walpurgisnacht]]. The game uses character designs, animation, and [[Soundtrack|music]] from the anime as well as incorporating new designs and songs for the dialogue scenes.  Characters are superdeformed or "chibi" in the fight scenes.
 
*The game appears to use purchasable cards to unlock new attacks and items in the game. Players can also team up as 'Soul Mates' to defeat powerful enemies (which becomes more and more necessary later in the game).

To set-up and play the game requires at least a basic understanding of Japanese.

Step 3. Right click the shortcut and go to "Properties"<br>
Step 4. In the "Target" box, add a space then add this argument next to your Chrome/Chromium location [  --user-agent="Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2; en-gb; GT-P1000 Build/FROYO) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1"  ].  It should look something like this:  "C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --user-agent="Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.2; en-gb;      GT-P1000  Build/FROYO) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1"<br>
Step 5. Click on the shortcut you created with Chrome.<br> 
Step 6. Enter https://ssl.sp.mbga.jp/_reg and press the orange button.<br>
Step 7. Fill in the box with your email address then click the orange button for confirmation.<br>
Step 8. Click the link given in your email and sign up. This requires some understanding of Japanese.  Easiest way is to choose the option to send a blank email to you email address.  Make sure you click on the link to confirm in the email they send you. Remember your login and password that you create.<br>
Step 9. Go to http://sp.pf.mbga.jp/12007105 to start playing.
 
== The Hollow Little Mermaid ==
There is a special Sayaka-centric scenario called "The Hollow Little Mermaid", available as part of a limited-time special event.  Four new magical girls appear in the scenario, named '''Elise''', '''Claire''', '''Hiyori''' and '''Komachi'''. They fight with summoning magic, lightning, music and swords, respectively. After defeating them in the scenario, their respective cards can be used in battle.
