Japanese Name 浅海 美幸 (Asami Miyuki)

"My dream is to grow lots of these flowers and turn them into a bouquet when I get married!" - Miyuki, Chapter 10.

Miyuki Asami (浅海 美幸 Asami Miyuki) is a posthumous character from Puella Magi Kazumi Magica. She was the younger sister of Saki Asami.

Personality

A sweet young girl who wished to get married someday. She enjoyed lily of the valley flowers. Miyuki was very close with her older sister, Saki. Saki has stated that she was similar to Mirai Wakaba in that she had "friends" (possibly stuffed animals or flowers) who protected her emotionally.

History

Miyuki appears in a brief scene with Saki in chapter 10.

When showing Saki the lily of the valley flower she had grown in a flashback, Miyuki claims that she wants to make a bridal bouquet with them someday. Saki says this is impossible, as no man is good enough for her. She then promises to marry Saki one day.

Unfortunately, Miyuki dies in a car accident when the car she and Saki were riding in crashes into another vehicle and a shard of glass pierces her throat. Her death drives Saki to despair, leaving her vulnerable to the effects of a witch's kiss.

After being rescued by Kazumi, Saki made a contract with Juubey and wished for Miyuki's lily of the valley to bloom forever.

Trivia

  • The lily-of-the-valley is a poisonous woodland flowering plant native throughout the cool temperate Northern Hemisphere in Asia and Europe.
    • All parts of the plant are poisonous and the red berries may be attractive to children; if eaten even in small amounts, the plant can cause abdominal pain, vomiting, and a reduced heart rate.
      • Although deadly, the plant has been used as a folk remedy in moderate amounts, and is currently used by herbalists as a restricted herbal remedy.
      • The flower is also known as Our Lady's Tears in Christian legends.
      • In Norse mythology, lilies are associated with the virgin goddess of spring Ostara.
      • Incidentally, the name Ostara has given its name to the festival of Easter.
      • In the "language of flowers", the lily of the valley signifies the return of happiness.
  • Miyuki's name means "beautiful fortune" or "beautiful happiness" in Japanese.
