Oktaive comes from Okatve http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octave it is a musical word so it does makes sense

That Orion speculation makes little sense to me. I read the motivation on /a/ saying "Faust has greek mythology', but Orion isn't mentioned in Faust.
