Asuka Tatsuki reflects on her life. She used to watch her older cousin striving through practice day and night and admired him as he spoke of his dreams with a huge grin. She wanted to become strong enough to help him.

Asuka trains at the Ryushinkan Dojo as the only child of the Dojo Master. She teaches as an assistant instructor in the Ryushin-style Naginata technique. After a match, she gives advice to a student.

Asuka goes to Mitama for an adjustment. She arrives late, believing her appointment was at five o'clock, but it was actually at three o'clock. Momoko, Rena, and Kaede confirm the time. Asuka realizes her misassumptions always trip her up. She says the reason she became a Magical Girl came down to a misassumption.

Asuka remembers two years ago. Her cousin was training at the dojo and planning to become a police officer. Her uncle decided to run for mayor. He committed an election law violation by buying votes. Asuka assumed her cousin would not be able to join the police because of his father's scandal. Kyubey appeared, and Asuka wished for her cousin to become a police officer. She later learned there was no rule refusing employment because of a parent's actions. She never needed to become a Magical Girl. Her cousin later quit the police force to change careers. Asuka does not regret her wish because her cousin is happy and she is still on her path to mastering martial arts.

The next day, Asuka, Momoko, Rena, and Kaede sense a powerful Witch. They enter the Labyrinth. They find other Magical Girls injured. Asuka recognizes one of them: Misato, a former student who quit the dojo. Asuka blames herself, believing she drove Misato away with harsh training. They escape with the injured.

Mitama treats Misato and Suzu. Misato remains in critical condition. Asuka offers all her Grief Seeds to save Misato. She regrets wasting her wish on her cousin when she could have wished for Misato to recover.

Misato and Suzu wake up. Misato reveals she was already a Magical Girl when she joined the dojo. She quit because she joined the school band, not because of Asuka's training. Asuka realizes she made another misassumption.

The group returns to the Labyrinth to defeat the Witch. Nanaka and Meiyui join them. Asuka's magic forces the Witch to obey her rules—she declares a duel and the Witch responds. Nanaka realizes Asuka's magic turns her assumptions into strength. The group defeats the Witch.

Several days later, Asuka visits Mitama for the adjustment she originally intended. During the adjustment, she dreams of Misato. Misato reveals she quit the dojo because she was inspired by Asuka's pure determination but joined the Wings of Magius. The Witch they fought was one that escaped their control. Misato erases Asuka's memory of the conversation. Asuka wakes up, feeling great, but cannot remember the dream.
