Melissa's weapons
Does anyone know what Melissa is holding here? I call them "maces", but that doesn't seem right to me. Batons, maybe? Amaterasu (talk) 00:59, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
- They do look an awful lot like gymnastics batons. Or maybe juggling clubs is another possibility? ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 07:24, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
- Maybe it's a variation of this thing? Sondenise (talk) 23:13, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
- I wouldn't doubt it, and I think that's what they are, but they need to have some sort of name. Considering Elise's weapon changed to a pair of claws and a dragons tail I wouldn't be surprised if Melissa's also underwent a major transformation. Considering the time period, I'll keep them as maces on her page. Amaterasu (talk) 01:24, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- Also considering how her base weapon is a hammerhead mace, I wouldn't be surprised if they were just maces. Amaterasu (talk) 01:28, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- In Elisa's case I'd say she started using her own natural weapon rather than the one she was gifted by Pernelle. Sondenise (talk) 06:40, 26 December 2024 (UTC)

- I have this feeling that we're reading waaay too much into this one memoria. Do we have any evidence at all to support that the differences depicted here are in any way different from how Mami learned to summon guns? You're calling it an "upgraded form", which implies a discrete step where something triggered an upgrade; and someone else was referring to it as an "evolution", which sort of feels like an attempt to link to Devil Homura's evolution; but I think it could just as well be the sum of their experiences and skill over their longer life (compared to other magical girls) – not a single discrete upgrade but rather slow and steady improvements. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 03:10, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
- For the information I gleaned from this memoria, I consulted people who were much more knowledgeable about Magia Record than myself, who told me about "Magical Girl Evolution", which is more described as an event triggered when a magical girl gains enough experience. From that, I went and inspected it more and saw some art and tweets from Masagitsune. From all of this, I added the weapons (which I think Masa almost confirmed for Elisa, but Google translate is too unreliable to trust too much).
As for your other comment about experience, that is what I intended to convey as that is what I was told. However, it seemed to get lost in interpretation and in wording. I definitely worded it incorrectly, but at the moment I couldn't think of anything else and that kinda stuck. I think "evolution" makes more sense than upgrade, though, so I'll change the wording to that. Amaterasu (talk) 04:27, 27 December 2024 (UTC)- What is "Magical Girl Evolution"? I'm not even aware of anything in Magia Record that could be described as such. Is there something in the latter half of the main story that I haven't seen yet? The only thing I know of that could be described as an "evolution" is Homura becoming Devil Homura, and basing an entire theory on one instance would be a bit much. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 13:31, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
