Momoko Togame reflects on her life. Her timing has always been terrible. She blamed her missed chance at love on timing, but then she realized she was part of the problem.

Momoko buys mentaiko-mayonnaise takoyaki, thinking her timing is finally improving. Rena and Kaede also bought the same takoyaki. They end up with sixty pieces. Karin arrives and helps eat them. Karin asks Momoko for advice on love for her manga. Rena is reluctant, but Momoko agrees to help.

Karin shows her rough sketches. The heroine is a cool girl who confesses during a field trip. Momoko suggests the heroine might be nervous about being seen only as a friend and might find a chance to confess when alone.

Karin revises the manga. The heroine's love interest dies in a murder mystery. The group finds it too forced. Momoko suggests Karin focus on why the heroine likes him. Karin promises to revise it.

Karin shows the next draft. It includes reincarnation and superpowers. The heroine is strong and alone in her past life, and the love interest was the only one who treated her normally. Momoko suggests the obstacle should be an internal battle rather than physical fights. Karin revises again, adding a confession tree legend and a test of courage. Momoko suggests a human rival instead of a zombie.

Karin shows a new draft. The heroine tries to use a sacred tree fruit to gain courage but fails because her rival confesses first and succeeds. Momoko realizes the story mirrors her own experience—she missed her chance at love because she made excuses and relied on timing.

Momoko explains she grew up as a tomboy and always pretended to be tough, refusing help from others. She was scared of being told she did not suit being feminine. She wished to Kyubey for the courage to confess to the boy she liked. Her wish came true, but when she went to confess, another girl had already confessed to him. She missed her chance.

Momoko tells Karin she identified with the heroine and wanted her to succeed. Karin reveals the manga is not over—it was all a dream. The heroine must wake up and decide how to deal with it. Momoko suggests the heroine should be brave on her own, without relying on legends or fruits. Karin revises the ending: the heroine confesses directly and succeeds.

The group is happy with the final version. Momoko realizes she was like the heroine before she woke up—she kept making excuses and let her chance get away. She feels she is finally over it. The next time she falls in love, it will be a happily ever after.
