Trivia
- It seems to be unable to communicate in human language, but is able to understand it.
- Its name was revealed in Magia☆Et Cetera Episode 8.
- In The Nighthawk Star, the Hawk demands Nighthawk remove the "hawk" from his name, suggesting he change his name to Ichizo.
- Nighthawk is voiced by Kana Hanazawa, who also voices Kuroe in Magia Record.
Etymology
A nighthawk is a type of bird native to the western hemisphere. They are a nocturnal bird of prey and are a part of the nightjar family.
Yodaka (よだか) is the name of the eponymous nighthawk of Kenji Miyazawa's novel The Nighthawk Star (よだかの星, Yodaka no Hoshi).
Notes
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 The official English translation usually avoids using any pronouns and gendered terms for Nighthawk, though "it/its" has also been used.
Speculation
The theories below have not been proven yet.
Please keep in mind that they are fanmade theories, and not official material.
- It's possible that Nighthawk is connected to Kuroe or her Witch form, Ichizo.
- It shares its voice actor with Kuroe.
- Just like Ichizo, Nighthawk seems to have mud dripping from their wings.
- It shares two design details with Kuroe's nightjar plushie, they both have a clover design on their left eye and wear a jabot.
- Ichizo's type is Nighthawk Witch (ヨダカの魔女 Yodaka no Majo). The katakana-only spelling of "nighthawk" (ヨダカ yodaka) is a trait she shares with Nighthawk's name.
- In Lighthouse Memories - Episode 2, A-Q states that "[Name] finding [her] way [to the Lighthouse] is proof enough that [she's] a Magical Girl". This suggests Nighthawk might be or previously have been a Magical Girl as well.
- Nighthawk is not the only inhabitant of the Lighthouse that bears similarities to a pre-existing Magia Record character, as A-Q appears to be connected to Alina Gray.
