Nighthawk (ヨダカ Yodaka) is a non-playable character in the 2025 mobile game Puella Magi Madoka Magica Magia Exedra. They[Note 1] are a resident of the Lighthouse Theatre and has lived there for a very long time, preceding Name. Nighthawk acts as the game's shopkeeper, with A-Q claiming they collect junk from around the Lighthouse and sell them.

Etymology

A nighthawk is a type of bird native to the western hemisphere. They are a nocturnal bird of prey and are a part of the nightjar family.

Yodaka (よだか) is the name of the eponymous nighthawk of Kenji Miyazawa's novel The Nighthawk Star (よだかの星, Yodaka no Hoshi).

Trivia

  • They seem to be unable to communicate in human language, but are able to understand it.
  • Their name was revealed in Ready Set Exedra Episode 8.
  • In The Nighthawk Star, the Hawk demands Nighthawk remove the "hawk" from his name, suggesting he change his name to Ichizo.


Speculation

The theories below have not been proven yet.
Please keep in mind that they are fanmade theories, and not official material.
  • It's possible that Nighthawk is connected to Kuroe or her Witch form, Ichizo.
    • They share a voice actor with Kuroe.
    • Just like Ichizo, Nighthawk seems to have mud dripping from their wings.
    • They share two design details with Kuroe's nightjar plushie, they both have a clover design on their left eye and wear a jabot.
