Talk:Gertrud
~~~~) at the end of your comment.We need: More pictures from the barrier, more pictures from the witch herself, a picture of her grief seed, a barrier article and a general analyzation of what happened in her barrier and how she exactly fought Mami. -- Madokaanon 12:56, 19 January 2011 (CST)
- Added to the wishlist. I think you should post these kind of stuff there, it has a better visibility than the talkpages --Homerun-chan 13:25, 19 January 2011 (CST)
i was putting up the translation of faust quote on the exit and the table broke. --Saveol2009 08:51, 20 January 2011 (CST)
- Fixed, though I think the Faust references are better located in Facts_and_Observations, since they are not really a part of the barrier. Mic2070 08:59, 20 January 2011 (CST)
- i dont think the barrier is only limited by those doors. all the other quotes are there too. --Saveol2009 09:05, 20 January 2011 (CST)
- Now that I think about it, the quotes aren't exactly in the barrier so I think we should move them back.
- its not even moved. i didnt delete it. its still there --Saveol2009 09:10, 20 January 2011 (CST)
- I am in favour of obliterating them from this page. Himmel 09:13, 20 January 2011 (CST)
- why? its not like they cant coexist and i think its not the same content on the trivia page. --Saveol2009 09:16, 20 January 2011 (CST)
- We are not sure whether the Faust quote is really that big of a plot point and not just some "fun fact" that's why I think it should stay in the trivia. --Madokaanon 09:20, 20 January 2011 (CST)
- >is really that big of a plot point and not just some "fun fact" .that is boring --Saveol2009 09:35, 20 January 2011 (CST)
- Come on, undo it to the previous version without Faustian text on the wall, it doesn't belong to this article. Are you telling us that we should move all the Faustian references from the inside of the barrier to this page too? Commie 09:28, 20 January 2011 (CST)
- why not? for easier viewing if the page accumulates too large of a content we can split the Gertrude barrier onto a different page --Saveol2009 09:35, 20 January 2011 (CST)
i got new content and i think it will make this page too big and will not be pleasant to read. i am moving it to location -> Gertrude's lair --Saveol2009 16:13, 20 January 2011 (CST)
Speculation on Gertrud
her name might be based on Gertrud Jekyll, an English garden designer http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gertrude_Jekyll She worked together with an architect (there's lots of classical architecture in ep 1), she was into photography and the Jekyll gives it a nice touch.
Or Joséphine de Beauharnais, wife of Napoleon http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josephine_Beauharnais Known as Rose until she married Napoleon, and she patronized the development of rose breeding at her gardens at Malmaison. (see Rose wiki). Might explain the crowns everywhere. There's also an image of Napoleon in ep 2, while the doors to her inner barrier are opening. The runes also mention : present the roses to the queen.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch%C3%A2teau_de_Malmaison Malmaison was close to Paris (Eiffeltower) and headquarters of the French government for a couple of years. Some of the architecture in the ep resembles that of Carmes prison, where Josephine stayed for ca. 3 months http://didine67.d.i.pic.centerblog.net/zmmw670s.jpg http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prison_des_Carmes http://img.over-blog.com/500x738/1/42/12/52/Photos-Cultes-27/eglise_st_joseph_carmes.jpg
Also from wiki (butterfly): According to Kwaidan: Stories and Studies of Strange Things, by Lafcadio Hearn, a butterfly was seen in Japan as the personification of a person's soul; whether they be living, dying, or already dead. One Japanese superstition says that if a butterfly enters your guestroom and perches behind the bamboo screen, the person whom you most love is coming to see you. However, large numbers of butterflies are viewed as bad omens. When Taira no Masakado was secretly preparing for his famous revolt, there appeared in Kyoto so vast a swarm of butterflies that the people were frightened — thinking the apparition to be a portent of coming evil. Moustaches: maybe a hint towards Puccini (who wrote Madame butterfly) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giacomo_Puccini
- Another speculah is that her name comes from Queen Gertrude from Hamlet, judging from what Anthonies were shouting (present the rose to our queen, etc.) --0x99 05:59, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
- I added some stuff at the trivia speculah, at this point nothing surprises me... --Mutopis 05:58, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
- I think I can add some of Gertrud's barrier photos I have lots! --Olive13 15:46, 29 June 2015 (GMT)
Witch Description Pages
the pages for all the witches are too cluttered at the top due to the exedra descriptions, can someone please help and add a 'English Exedra' and 'Japanese Exedra' taps to each witch's description, have the taps placed after the 'English Description' and 'Japanese Description' tabs so we don't have a whole new table and same image for the witches and minions, it's too repetitive and cluttered.Rares (talk) 01:46, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- I think it'd be easy to just put them into the normal boxes, without adding new tabs, so english description would have two descriptions, the original one with the exedra one below. I think this is a good way to fuse them. My only question is what to do with the displays, should we use the Exedra ones? They're far more unique (such as the different background for Bartels), but while I think some exedra displays look WAY better I also think some partially don't, like the Sebastian's one. I like the background but really not the sprite. So should we mix and match Exedra backgrounds with either Magireco or Exedra sprites? (Also for the thing you mentioned on the Commoner's Horse page I have no idea how to make the images changeable Im not expierenced T_T). - TheresaFrog421 (talk) 02:48, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- Completely forgot, I think it's okay if we split the witch types/natures like theyre split on Homulilly's first form. - TheresaFrog421 (talk) 03:04, 25 July 2025 (UTC)
- the change to the pages right now look really good. but i'm wondering if we should have the exedra descriptions first? I noticed Gertrud's page has the Exedra description placed first with madoka magica after it, however a page like Elsa Maria has Madoka Magica first, then exedra. maybe we should place all descriptions in chronological order? just so every page is at least in uniform sort-of-speak. the order for example: Madoka Magica, Rebellion, Magia Record (Game), Madoka Exedra - of course some witches only have one description from a madoka media, such as most magireco witches and homulily, but if they do have more than one description then it should be placed in chronological order for every witch, i think. Rares (talk) 14:42, 2 August 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah I agree, I partialy believe we shouldn't even have different cards just for appearances in different media but since they don't clog up the page I don't mind them (I'd prefer to sticking to different forms like rental forms and grow stages). If we keep them it makes no sense for them to be organized like this. - TheresaFrog421 (talk) 16:27, 2 August 2025 (UTC)
- I also agree. when I was making tabs of all the descriptions I was just going in whatever order they were in since I wasn't paying too much attention atm.Sondenise (talk) 01:41, 3 August 2025 (UTC)
