Mystery Grief Seed User
Just for clarification, could you link or post an image of the Magical Girl using this "mystery Grief Seed" in Chapter 37 of the Magia Record manga? Perhaps the relevant pages in full? I can't find a scanned upload that recent online. You wrote that the MG is Felicia, which matches the design at the top of her Soul Gem, but her outfit and hair design & color give me doubt, so I'd like to see if it's confirmed anywhere. I'm just as confused as how the GS was in Touka's possession before being used by this MG. --Garr9988 (talk) 22:13, 29 October 2022 (UTC)
The soul gem is Felicia's, the one holding it is Touka. --Athree (talk) 23:44, 29 October 2022 (UTC)
Shaft
You created a page that already existed. Could I ask you to merge them and leave a redirect? ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 01:31, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
Sure, feel free to delete mine. But since the only difference is the capitalization, so is there a point in leaving a redirect? I know the search function is case-sensitive, but most people probably won't write out the (witch) part.--Athree (talk) 20:04, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
It doesn't hurt to have a redirect and occasionally helps, so I think there's no reason not to leave one. It also becomes relevant if someone links to the page from elsewhere on the wiki, for example – they won't have to remember the correct case. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 03:15, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
Elsa Maria/Witch Guidebook Info
I was wondering if you would be able to upload images of the Guidebook pages & storyboards that the info about Elsa Maria comes from, with English translations added on top of them for confirmation? Doing the same for any other Witches you do the same for, and maybe even transcribing the written Japanese so that the text can be confirmed confirmed with an online translator (can't copy/paste or detect handwriting) would be greatly appreciated for everyone that can't read Japanese. All the images are already in the wiki, that's where I took them from. To wit:
- https://wiki.puella-magi.net/File:Image_Note_0066.jpg This is where all the early design stuff comes from
- https://images.puella-magi.net/7/7e/Image_Note_0038.jpg Backstory, name on the cross and field of skulls. (Three last squares)
- https://images.puella-magi.net/8/81/Image_Note_0034.jpg Ukiyo-e (Next to the arrow going into a circle)

Mana Hitomi
Magia Exedra confirms that Mana is male.
Where? Are you playing the game in Japanese? This sounds quite dubious (see 3rd entry here) so I'm wondering if it could be a localization error. ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 23:52, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
I saw it in English, but upon further research it was actually confirmed earlier. This tweet from Mura says "二卵性双子の兄妹は兄マナが母似 (...)" meaning "Mana, the older brother of the older brother-younger sister pair of fraternal twins, resembled his mother (...)". Mana can also be a male name.--Athree (talk) 03:13, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
- Are you able to read Japanese yourself or did you use an automatic translator? The automated translation of the tweet that I saw showed no indication of Mana being male, but I'd prefer to hear from someone who actually knows the language. I'd also like to know if anything in Sadness Prayer contradicts the assertion that Mana is male.
- Maybe Mana can be a male name, but from my understanding, it's almost always female in Japanese.~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 03:28, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
Yes, I translated the part that Google Translate skips in order to show that I can read Japanese. But if you're more comfortable with machine translation, here's DeepL's version of the segment. If that still doesn't convince you, then I can offer the dictionary entry of 兄 coupled with the fact that the character page shows that マナ is "Mana", which together make the meaning of 兄マナ rather intuitive.
As for Sadness Prayer, as far as I know the only indication of Mana's sex in it is the word "older sister", which Mura stated was an editorial mistake. I believe this error would make it very difficult to judge the presence of gendered language for Mana through reading the English version. Japanese uses it much more rarely than English, often requiring it to be added in translation, and any translator would use feminine pronouns for Mana. After all, they wouldn't exactly have access to a tweet from the author made almost ten years in the future. But if you find something that seems noteworthy all the same, feel free to bring it up.--Athree (talk) 04:50, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
But if you're more comfortable with machine translation
I thought I made it clear that I'm less comfortable with a machine translation.

Yes, I would not consider the use of "she" or "her" in the English version to be proof of anything. The so-called "editorial mistake" could just as easily be taken as canon, mind you. Let's at least mention that on the page, so it's clear that Mana was originally stated to be female and is now being retconned as male.

Lina's page already talks about Mura's tweet, so I'd say that's covered. --Athree (talk) 05:42, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
