Magia Record minor characters
I get that you were trying to be helpful, but I think characters without a name shouldn't be mentioned on Minor Characters (Magia Record) (the blurb I placed at the top of the page does explicitly say "minor named characters"). However, much of what you added is still useful information that I believe should be on the wiki. For example, information on unnamed family members could go on the page of the associated character (ie, the Yui family could go on Tsuruno Yui's page). ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 15:20, 22 May 2022 (UTC)
- I only noticed the "named" part after I made those additions, my apologies. Fair enough, I suppose, even if that would take a lot more work. --Garr9988 (talk) 17:03, 22 May 2022 (UTC)
- No need to just delete it now; you or I can just move it over whenever we have time. I wonder if maybe having a separate "Family" section on those pages is a good idea? (Also, some such as the Satomi family may be important enough to have a dedicated page, similar to the Sakura family.) ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 17:58, 22 May 2022 (UTC)
- By the way, do you know the source (or any additional info) for Tsuruno's sisters? Like, where are they mentioned, or where do they appear? ~ Celtic Minstrel (talk) 19:51, 22 May 2022 (UTC)
- If I recall correctly, there was a personal story or event that included a flashback of Tsuruno giving a class presentation. In the NA translation, she said something about the President, and I feel like that scene mentioned at least one of her sisters, but I can't remember most of it at all. --Garr9988 (talk) 00:43, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
Soul Gems Emblems
I don't mind listing Momoko's top emblem as some variation of "Possibly a shield", but I think it's overgeneralizing to treat "at least one emblem must be the transformed shape" as a hard rule. Mayu's gem doesn't follow this pattern, nor do other spinoff girls like Melissa, Kaoru and Oriko. --Athree (talk) 21:53, 13 February 2023 (UTC)
- Looking closely at Mayu's un-TF'd Soul Gem and comparing it to its transformed form, I'm reasonably sure the top emblem is intended to match its TF'd form. I'll admit you have a point that some of the manga Soul Gems may have different design rules (I'd need to check them all to be sure, but I know Melissa's Gem was changed between the original manga, where it had the image of grapes inside itself, and Magia Record where the grapes were unseen). I suppose it's a matter of where on the tiers of canon you hold the mangas compared to the animes, given that Magia Record is (somewhat) made by the same people/artists as the original anime and are thus the ones "in charge" of Soul Gem designs. It's "more official" in that way. Oriko Magica rather notably gave Grief Seeds wildly different designs than canon that, I'd say, shouldn't necessarily be considered canonical. --Garr9988 (talk) 22:13, 13 February 2023 (UTC)
Mayu's top emblem is less elongated than her soul gem, and it lacks the spokes of her transformed gem. If we assume the metal parts aren't part of the design, then Kanae, Mifuyu and Nemu don't have an emblem matching their transformed soul gems. Sana's emblems don't seem to match either; the crown at the top lacks the gem, and the one at the bottom places it on her shield, when the real one is on her necklace. Although Melissa's page does say that her original soul gem design has grapes, I checked the original manga and I cannot find any proof of it. Even her character profile doesn't have so much as a scribble inside the gem to suggest a shape, so I believe it's simply a mistake. --Athree (talk) 23:40, 13 February 2023 (UTC)
- The grapes inside of Melissa's transformed Soul Gem can be seen after she makes her wish and transforms for the first time, in Volume 2 Chapter 8. I don't own the manga myself, so I had to find an upload online, but I was the one who noted the grape detail on her wiki page and would not have done so if I hadn't seen it myself.
- As for the Magia Record Gems: keep in mind that while Iroha's top emblem is a (hollow) circle with a chain attached, it doesn't include the metal bowtie shape surrounding it that likewise makes up the cloak clasp the TF'd SG is a part of. Mel Anna's top emblem is a leaf to resemble her TF'd form, but it lacks the metal details surrounding the gemstone. The designs are somewhat inconsistent across characters, yes, but the general shape or motif is the same, and so I'm still confident that Mayu's Soul Gem follows the general trend with its top emblem. This goes for Sana as well - the top emblem is a crown, which is the shape her SG takes when TF'd (a crown-shaped pendant, but still). The diamond on the front shield emblem is merely an extra detail because the front emblems are usually more detailed and ornate - keep in mind her shield weapon actually has diamonds on it. It's a general motif of her overall TF'd costume. --Garr9988 (talk) 00:06, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
