|
Kagome receives an invitation from Himena to a gathering of Magical Girls with the condition that she come dressed in something that can get wet. She arrives to discover the true purpose is a beach outing with Himena, San, Shigure, Hagumu, Alexandra, and Miyuri. Despite the deception, Kagome appreciates the gesture. At the beach, Kagome senses a Witch and pursues it alone but loses track of it. While searching, she encounters Amabie-al-chan giving a cucumber to an elementary school girl, and the girl notices Kagome in her Demon Parade Magical Girl form. Before Kagome can handle the situation, Himena and the others find her and suggest she detransform. The girl approaches and asks if she saw a kappa, then excitedly declares Kagome a comrade in searching for the Seven Mysteries. The girl explains she is researching the local Seven Mysteries for her summer homework and wants to believe in mysterious things to escape problems at home and school. She asks Kagome to become an eyewitness and let her conduct an interview. Kagome, relating to the act of interviewing, agrees. Himena, who overheard everything, tells the girl that the day after tomorrow's festival is when Seven Mysteries are most likely to appear and claims the kappa was the "Moving Plushie." The girl excitedly agrees to meet at the festival. After she leaves, Himena reveals her plan to use the Magical Girls to make the Seven Mysteries a reality, with Kagome as the interviewee. The next day, Kagome consults other Magical Girls about the plan. Kureha, Juri, Hikaru, and Ao agree to help, and through their discussion they create "The Girl with Horns" as the second Mystery. Later, Kagome brings the consultation to Shizuka, Ryoko, Asahi, Chika, Chiharu, and Sunao. Ryoko's ghost story and the frightened reactions of Shizuka, Chiharu, and Sunao inspire "The Chorus of Sobbing Voices," though the three request the remaining Mysteries be less scary. The discussion continues as they finalize the lineup. The day of the festival arrives. The girl comes with her mother, and Himena convinces the mother it is a volunteer play. The investigation proceeds through various performances: San and Miyuri as the "Leg Girl," Kureha as "The Girl with Horns," Shizuka's group as the "Laughing Ghost" after their sobbing fails, Asahi as the "Prophesying Cat," and Shizuku's sudden appearance as the "Torii Gate to Another World." As they prepare for the final Mystery, Kagome senses a Witch and leaves to fight it. The defeated Witch's disappearance creates a spectacular display of light and plushies, amazing the girl. Himena improvises that the final Mystery is the "Nurarihyon," a yōkai leading the "Night Parade of One Hundred Demons." Later that night, Kagome rides home on the train with Tasuke, Nayuta, and Lavi, who have fallen asleep. As she drifts off, she recalls the girl's words about believing in the Seven Mysteries. Despite everything, it becomes a summer memory she will never forget. |
