Summary
A magical girl with a straightforward heart, she attends Private Seishou Elementary School. A wielder of rare magic potential - as an aerial combat instructor for the Time-Space Administration Bureau, she works to crack down on interdimensional crime. To save those who can be saved with her own hands, today too, she flies through the sky. Left handed.
Side Story
Mitama has organized a magical girl team competition inside of Mirrors. Kaede and Iroha greet Nanoha as they wanted to talk and get to know each other better. Fate and Hayate had both wandered off to explore the labyrinth further. Nanoha is eager to chat, especially since she's on break between matches. But before Kaede can speak, Rena appears and reminds her that their match is about to start. Kaede apologizes to the two girls before hurrying off with Rena. Iroha and Nanoha watch Team Momoko's match, marveling and commenting at their fighting style. Nanoha notes how Momoko's sword is wreathed in flames when she attacks and asks if he also has Mana Conversion Affinity. Iroha's not sure what she means, and Nanoha explains it's the ability to convert magic into flames or lightning. It seems Fate also has this ability, as she can readily convert her magic into electricity without thinking about it.
As they continue to watch the match, Nanoha comments on Kaede's plant-manipulation magic and how she fights in close-range despite having a staff for a weapon. Iroha smiles and notes that Nanoha takes her research seriously. Nanoha hadn't seen so much variety in magic and can't help wanting to watch it all. Iroha beams and says it's natural she should want to learn so much, especially if she wants to win the tournament.
As Team Momoko wins their match, Nanoha wonders who their instructor was. She explains to Iroha that she was taught magic at an early age and has since learned all different kinds of magic from various people over the years. She's surprised to learn that Iroha and the other magical girls gain their magic by making a wish to Kyubey. Iroha asks if Nanoha has ever met Kyubey and describes him as looking like a white stuffed animal. Nanoha has never met Kyubey before, but the description reminds her of her first teacher, Yuuno. Nanoha remembers the day she met him in third-grade, and how she had heard his voice calling for help. That's when she first experienced magic and met Raising Heart. Ever since then she became friends with Hayate and Fate and honed her magic to help her protect others. Iroha is startled when Raising Heart agrees with Nanoha and mentally notes how different their magic is from each other. Rather than gaining magic from having a wish come true, Iroha feels like Nanoha's magic is given to them in order to make their wishes come true.
Iroha asks about Raising Heart and how it can transform into different weapons. She had thought it was similar to their soul gems, and Nanoha explains how Raising Heart taught her the basics of magic step by step. Iroha can ask for help from more experienced magical girls, but at the beginning she didn't know anything. Nanoha would spar with Fate when they first became friends as a way of training. Even then Raising Heart would give her helpful advice. One day, Raising Heart had asked her what she thought was the most important thing in a fight and Nanoha asks Iroha what her answer would be. Iroha is taken back, but guesses that not wanting to lose would be the answer. Raising Heart states that's a good answer, but not complete. Nanoha smiles since it was exactly the same thing she had responded the first time she was asked.
Just as Nanoha is about to tell Iroha the full answer, Hayate and Fate return from their investigation of Mirrors. Nanoha welcomes them back and Fate asks if she's up for a bit of sparring since they missed their morning warm-up routine. Nanoha apologizes to Iroha for cutting their conversation short, but promises to tell her the answer once they're done. Iroha asks if she can watch them spar and shows them to the training area they had cleared out. Yachiyo comes over to watch alongside Iroha and notes that Nanoha has a similar skillset to Iroha, fighting primarily from a distance rather than at close range. Whereas Fate fights similar to Momoko due to swords being their weapon, Fate also uses her magic to close the distance between herself and Nanoha. Hayate, Iroha, and Yachiyo continue to watch the sparring match as Fate and Nanoha trade blow after blow. Soon, however, Fate is able to use binding magic to root Nanoha to the spot. Fate unleashes her full-power Hornet Javelin at Nanoha, who is able to take the attack head on without so much as a scratch due to the Formula System and Fortress she has equipped.
The match continues as Fate and Nanoha continue their practice match. Yachiyo notes that Nanoha could have broken out of the binding magic had she chosen, but instead decided to take the brunt of the attack in order to lure Fate in closer for a counter-attack. As bullets chase Fate through the sky, Iroha has trouble keeping track of what's going on with so much light flashing everywhere. Hayate explains that the light has different colors depending on who is wielding the magic. Fate's magic is gold colored while Nanoha's magic is cherry blossom pink. Despite seeming evenly matched, Yachiyo thinks that Nanoha has the advantage since Fate lost a lot of energy with her full-on attack earlier.
The girls continue to watch as Fate attempts to close the gap between them in order to use her sword to its full advantage. With both girls fighting at their maximum speed, it's anyone's game as to who will be the winner. As their endurance winds down, they both decide to gamble it all on one final attack. The light and energy clashes, exploding in a burst of light like fireworks. The match is over, and it seems to be a tie. Hayate suggests they take a little break before their next match starts, but before they go Nanoha turns to Iroha. She asks if she remembered the question that Raising Heart had asked earlier. The true answer was "Wisdom and Tactics". Iroha agrees, especially after witnessing the fight between Nanoha and Fate.

Powers and Abilities
Like all mages, Nanoha possesses an organ called a Linker Core that allows her to generate mana. Her Device, Raising Heart, then allows her to shape it into a usable form.
Nanoha is a practitioner of the Midchildan style, and specializes in direct bombardment spells. Her signature techniques are:
- Divine Buster: Creates a large sphere of mana, which she strikes with Raising Heart to unleash a destructive beam.
- Starlight Breaker: A variation of Divine Buster that, rather than being cast from the mage's own Linker Core directly, gathers the ambient mana in the atmosphere. Its effectiveness thus scales proportionally to how long a battle has lasted and the strength of her opponent.
At the time of her appearance in Magia Record, Nanoha has not taken the mage rank exam. Approximately one year later, in autumn 0068, she would qualify for S-rank.
Etymology
- The characters in her last name mean "amount" (高) and "town" (町) respectively.
- While her first name is spelled in hiragana, her ultimate original source material uses the kanji reading 菜乃葉.
Trivia
- The form Nanoha's Barrier Jacket takes in Magia Record matches its appearance in Detonation.
- Like the other crossover characters, Nanoha's personal memoria was removed from the SP gacha.
- The Lyrical Nanoha cast (Nanoha, Fate, Hayate) are the only crossover characters in the game who have story content.
