Nazukasokotsune

Nazukasokotsune (名塚底根), is the origin of every Witch. Its role is to record and give Magical Girls a new name and a new form once their Soul Gem becomes filled with curses, thus turning them into a Witch. Nazukasokotsune exists outside the normal universe, and thus persists even after the Law of Cycles' rewrite of the universe, though it became frozen and inaccessible.^{[verification needed]}

Crystal Archives

The Crystal Archives (水晶書庫, Suisho Shoko)^{[unofficial tl.]} is a crystalline pillar within Nazukasokotsune, within which the Witch Archives (魔女図鑑, Majo Zukan)^{[unofficial tl.]} are contained.^[1] The Crystal Archives were originally magical powers and Witch Archives that were swirling around within Nazukasokozune that became frozen during the birth of Law of Cycles.^[1]

Nameless Star

The Nameless Star (名無しの星, Nanashi no Hoshi)^{[unofficial tl.]} is the central part of Nazukasokotsune, surrounded by the Crystal Archives.^[1] Inside the Nameless Star exists a door that serves as a pathway between Law of Cycles and Nazukasokotsune. The door can only be opened by Walpurgisnacht.^[1]

In Walpurgisnacht: Rising

After the ending of Rebellion, the Law of Cycles became unstable, only working automatically and fulfilling its purpose of collecting girls before they are to become Witches. A pathway between the Law of Cycles and Nazukasokotsune is able to be opened, and through it back to another universe, such as the one where Devil Homura resides. Magical Girls from the Law of Cycles who still have a strong attachment to the world find their way into Nazukasokotsune, and back to the world as Witch Girls.^{[verification needed]}

Etymology

Nazukasokotsune (名塚底根) is not an existing word in Japanese, but rather a compound of four kanji consisting of 名 = name/fame, 塚 = mound/tumulus/tomb, 底 = bottom/depths, and 根 = root/base. A possible literal interpretation would be "the deep foundation of the legendary mound," or simplified to "the root of names."
